  • E51 Bluetooth Network Access Service unavailable (...

I used to have a 6300 and just got a E51. With the 6300 there is a bluetooth service called 'Network Access' that enables a laptop to use the phone's GPRS capability to access the Internet.
My problem: This service does not seem to exist with the E51. Is this correct? If no, what do I need to do. If yes, how can the E51 be used to provide (fast) Internet access to a laptop (via Bluetooth)? (I am not talking about 9.6kbit modem dial-up connections.)
To illustrate what I mean: In Windows XP open 'My Bluetooth Places'. From the left column start the 'Bluetooth setup wizard'. Pick the first option 'I know the service I want to use...'. Select 'Network Access'... and experience the problem that the E51 is not found to be providing this service (to prevent the obvious question: The Bluetooth connection and pairing works fine otherwise).
I am hoping that I am missing something obvious here...

Why are you trying to connect your iPhone to your computer? The only thing you can do with that is streaming the internet to your computer. Is this what your are trying to accomplish? If yes, try setting up the hotspot on your iPhone with WiFi and see if your computer can find it and connect.

  • "wake for network access" not working

    Hi guys,
I enabled System Preferences > Energy saver > Wake for network access
    and
System Preferences > Sharing > remote Login
These are the exact settings I had under Snow Leopard and it used to wake my iMac via 5GHz WiFi. I use a AirPort Extreme and didn't change a thing on its side. But neither with VNC nor with my iPad app "Screens" I am able to wake it under Lion. Screens tells me "Computer in sleep mode"...
    Any help?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bado

I've been having problems with wake for network access on Lion as well. Similarly to others, if my iMac has recently gone into sleep mode, then it will wake up for Apple TV use or for file and screen sharing from another computer. After an extended period of time, however, all such functionality disappears.
I've been rooting around in System Profile and have found something that may be of interest. Under the Hardware section, in the Power menu, there is a parameter called 'PrioritizeNetworkReachabilityOverSleep'. On both my iMac and Macbook this is set to zero (i.e. 'no').
Does anybody have any idea what it means? And if there is any way to change it? If I had to guess, it sounds as though there is a setting somewhere in the system configuration (thought apparently not visible from the GUI) that sets the computer to remain in sleep mode rather than briefly waking to maintain its registration with the relevant Bonjour sleep proxies.
Hopefully we'll be able to get to the bottom of this, as over six months after Lion's release the problem has yet to be resolved by Apple through version updates, something that is especially frustrating given how excellent a feature wake on network access is when it can be reliably coupled with an Apple TV or Back to my Mac.

  • Bluetooth network is not available?

Trying to connect to iPhone 5c with iMac (Mid 2011, yosemite 10.10) for file sharing with bluetooth.
both iMac and iPhone are "discoverable" and seen in each others list. Both items have been paired (multiple times). The iPhone reads as not connected on the list and when I try to connect I get the Bluetooth Message "Network is not connected". I have turned on file sharing on my iMac and have a green on button on my iPhone. Unable to figure out why they are not connecting.

The iPhone will not connect to a computer via Bluetooth for file sharing. More information: Bluetooth: Why can't I pair my iPhone or iPad with my computer?

  • Bluetooth network access

trying to pair my iPhone (iOS 8.1) to the iMac (Yosemite) via bluetooth.  The pairing won't work, and I keep getting a message on the iMac that network access needs to be set to allow the pairing---where do I enable the pairing in "network access"?
After more trying, I'm now able to get to the point where the access code for bluetooth pairing pops on the iMac, and also on my phone, but when I confirm the codes match on my iPhone, the iMac tells me that the connection cannot be made.  Any suggestions?

It doesn't need to be paired.

  • Wake for network access not reliable over internet...

I've been going through major issues ever since I started tinkering with "Wake for network access" In a nutshell, when I was using my AirPort extreme with 7.4.2 and "Wake for network access" turned on someone or something kept on waking my Mac Mini via VNC. I know strange. So to combat this I back rev'd the AirPort to 7.4.1. This prevents the perpetrator from waking my Mac Mini, but now when I don't wake the Mini after a prolonged period of time it ceases to wake over the internet. If I wake the Mini manually and then let it sleep and then proceed to wake it over the net a few minutes later it wakes just fine ie using a WOL app on my iPhone. Also, it always wakes just fine on my LAN. I'm getting so tired of trying to troubleshoot my WOL issues. Any ideas?

The remote app can either automatically find libraries available on a network (with home sharing available) or if you haven't got home sharing enabled, you can manually pair an itunes library with the remote app (using a number that is generated by the app and then typed into the itunes library).
That is why I am so confused, as it seems to be the home sharing that is the problem!

  • Network Access Not working - String index out of range -1

All of our Storm handhelds are working great for network file access through the BES server.  I just got a Curve 2 and tried the same access and anything you type into the file application in the go to box gives a String index out of range -1 error.
Any ideas or fixes that anyone knows for this one?  I will try another file manager in the meantime.

I am unable to locate any other file manager that allows network file access through BES.  Anyone locate the reason for this error or any managers that allow network access?
    Thanks!

  • Mac Mini Wake for Network Access Not working after upgrade

After upgrading to the latest OS (10.8) the WOL fuction is not work.  This used to work before the release.  i could see the Mac mini on my mac book pro even when it was asleep.  Once I click on it under the shared resources area I could see the Mac wake up.  Now as soon as it goes to sleep it drops from my mac book pro.  I am connected via WIFI but also tried via LAN.  Same result. Any ideas?  Seems to be a bug as I google this issue it appears to be impacting many people.

Same issue here after updating my iMac to OS X 10.8. I can't use Logmein, wireless syncing to iTunes from my iOS devices, or my Logitech Server software for my Logitech Radio. Once the computer goes to sleep, it is invisible to the rest of the network. This all worked fine on 10.4-10.7. I have double-checked that Wake on Network Activity is turned on. I have disabled all networking interfaces except Ethernet. Nothing seems to help.

  • Ssh network access not waking imac

I have an mid-2010 iMac running Mountain Lion which was recently installed.
I can wake the iMac using a VNC iPad app over my wireless network. But when I try to SSH into the iMac from my laptop, the iMac does not wake.
I don't recall if this was a problem but I'm pretty sure it was working on previous versions of OS X.

    Hi nysus,
... I have a Vonage router which is connected to my Airport Extreme router ... The Airport is in bridged mode.
Since the AirPort Extreme is in bridge mode, it is not providing routing services. The Vonage router is doing that.
I do not know if the Vonage router is capable of passing the "magic packet" necessary to remotely wake the iMac. The fact that it is losing its DHCP lease points to an uncertainty with the Vonage box.
To simplify matters, try reconfiguring your network so that the AirPort Extreme acts as your router instead - change its connection sharing to look like this
Connect the Extreme directly to your modem, and connect the Vonage box's WAN port to an available LAN port on the Extreme.
You should not need to reconfigure anything on the Vonage box. Just plug it into the Extreme. It will still act as a router but since nothing will be connected to its LAN port, none of your network equipment will use it as such.
Be sure to cycle power on your modem after reconfiguing your Extreme.
If your network is anything other than "simple" you might also consider changing the Extreme's default 10.0.x.x. addressing scheme to the 192.168.x.x used by the Vonage box. All your network equipment might be accustomed to using 192.168.x.x addresses and it is impossible for the Vonage router to use anything else.

  • I can't connect to the router in my home.  Things were working fine as usual - I attended school and connected to their WiFi network as usual.  When I returned home I could not connect to my own home router.  The Ipad seeks the network but nothing happens

I can't connect to the router in my home.  The Ipad seeks the network but nothing happens.  I went to school and connected to their WiFi network as usual with no problems.  When I returned home I could not connect to my home router.  The Ipad seeks the router number but nothing happens.  I rebooted the Ipad a few times in the school.  The numbers identifying the router, etc. on my Ipad no longer appear there.
TThe Ipad guide says to connect to the WiFi use setup but I can't find the setup program in the Ipad.
I reset the network settings to the factory defaults but this doesn't fix the problem.
What can I do to reconnect to my home router?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

If Keychain First Aid finds an issue that it cannot repair, or if you do not know your keychain password, you may need to reset your keychain.

Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.

  • Lotus Notes and Network access slow

I'm new to this environment and when I arrived I notices that all switches are trunk to one 6509 core switch, which is fine. The 6513 switch is the server farm switch and also the aggregation switch. the issue is sometimes sme users Lotus Notes and Network access is really slow, uer need spend to 5 min to log in Lotus Notes. this problem is not always happen. lots of times whne i arrive users office, everytinh is fine. i check my network, i found the root of spanning tree is not 6509 core switch. is this the reason for network slow ?
    please help me
    thanks

You will need to ensure that spanning-tree is not
re-converging. You can do this by monitoring the logging on your switches and or syslogging. You could make the 6509 root bridge by giving it a
    lower bridge value.
Spanning tree should converge and be stable, if it isn't then you need to make sure links are not coming up and down and that there are not deeper problems like loops etc. Make sure all your server links are switchport mode access and bpduguard. Things like that.
Check the links to the notes server for errors, ensure that they are the correct speed and duplex.
Use tools like ping to check round trip times to your notes server from the switch, then from an end
    user.
Use a traffic sniffer like ethereal to ensure that the tcp conversations on port 1352 are timely)
A badly written view can cause big delays for your notes users.

  • Connect to internet, not via 3G, but via bluetooth network connection

I am considering buying this iphone,
and there are many options I can use to connect internet.
so can an iphone connect to internet, neither via 3G nor via wi-fi, but via bluetooth network connection?

The iPhone does not support tethering - at the present time anyway, which means using the iPhone as a modem for internet access with a computer, and the same in reverse - using a computer's internet connection to connect to the internet with the iPhone.

  • ACS 5.3 - 11033 Selected Service type is not Network Access

I have some older devices on the network that only support RADIUS (not TACACS) for authentication and would like to have them use SecureACS 5.3
I understand that by default, ACS only supports TACACS for device administration.  So I'll get this error when trying RADIUS:
11033 Selected Service type is not Network Access
    Description:
RADIUS requests can only be processed by Access Services that are of type Network Access
    Resolution Text:
Verify that the Service Selection Policy rules are correct
However, even after adjusting the Service Selection rules and seeing hits, I still see the same message in the logs, as if it has no affect.  Any Ideas?

If you use the protocol as radius you can not use a device admin service. You can only use network access. That will allow you for authentication to the devices.
