Bluetooth on MacPro?

I just bought the Logitech diNovo Edge keyboard for my MacPro. It is a bluetooth connection keyboard and I assumed all the macpros of recent years had bluetooth standard on them. However, I can't find it on my machine. Mine is less than a year old and I'm running 10.4.11 on it. Is Bluetooth not a standard on these machines? Can I add it myself? I have a beautiful keyboard sitting here that I can't use

Well, time flies and it appears my machine is a bit over 1 yr.....many of the system files are from 2007. Mine was shipped a few days before 10.5 was released.
In searching on my hd in the System folder under Library/systemconfiguration I find I do have a file called Bluetooth.bundle and in the Library/preference panes folder I have one called Bluetooth.prefPane. When I click to open that last one it opens my System Preferences window but there is still no bluetooth icon or setting. Wouldn't the presence of those files indicate that there is bluetooth on here?
If it isn't, is that card mentioned in the link above installable by an owner with a little computer knowledge.....I"ve installed my own memory and hd upgrades.

i used with my iphone and test it on macbookpro, the sounds is goood.

Set the Bitpool Min value in the ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent.plist file to 50. Either with the plist Editor or from the Terminal with:
defaults write com.apple.BluetoothAudioAgent "Apple Bitpool Min (editable)" 50
Worked for me. (I found the answer in this forum somewhere but couldn't find the post anywhere now)

10.6.8 MacPro Bluetooth stuttering

Problem description:
After upgrading to 10.6.8 and after some minutes working I realized my keyboard input was faster than the text appearance on screen. Sometimes I push a key on the keyboard and three or more times the letter appears on screen. Then I noticed the mouse movement on screen was stuttering, not constantly, but sometimes more, sometimes less; but no serious work possible. If I switch off Bluetooth and switch it back on, I have a few minutes for normal behavior of my Magic Mouse and keyboard, but then same problem again. Urgh.
What I've done so far:
- Repaired permissions
- Deleted both devices from the list of known Bluetooth devices and registered them again
- Deleted the bluetooth.plist
- Reset the PRAM
- Reset the SMC
- Installed the Combo Update for 10.6.8
- Switched the channel of my Wireless base station (tried every single possible channel)

I guess I found a solution that works (so far...):
- deinstall all your blouetooth devices
- delete everything saying bluetooth in library/preferences
- reinstall 10.6.8 as combo update
- reinstall your bluetooth devices.

I have a question about getting a Bluetooth module installed on my MacPro Desktop running 10.6.8.

I have the following MacPro Desktop. Model Identifier MacPro1,1, with two Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processors at 2.66 GHz. I have 4 GB of memory. There is not a Bluetooth module installed, but I would really like to be able to disconnect from my Logitech USB headphones and go to a Bluetooth set for more mobility in my office.
I use Line 2 Pro VOIP phone service and sometimes I need to move from my desk to a file cabinet to retrieve something while on the phone. I hate putting people on hold while I do this.
First, is this possible?
Second, if it is, where do I find such a module?

Does my MacPro have BlueTooth or not?

I have a MacPro 4,1 (2.66 GHz quad-core, 3 GB RAM) that Apple offered as a replacement for my PowerMac G5 after I had problems with the logic board 3 different times over less then 1 year.
On the menubar the Bluetooth icon was there so I click on the "discoverable" menu option and after a about 30 seconds the icon grayed out and now the menu says "Bluetooth: Not available". I looked in the System Profiler and the Bluetooth section says "No information found".
When I look at the system specifications at http://support.apple.com/kb/SP506 it looks like Bluetooth 2.1 is not an option, but is always built in. The Mactracker application also indicates that Bluetooth should be available.
So do I have Bluetooth or not? Am I having some of the Bluetooth problems with the MacPro that I've seen in other postings in the MacPro discussions?

Your MacPro did come with Bluetooth hardware. It sounds like yours is fubarred.

Mapping buttons from imac Bluetooth Keyboard to Macpro

I tried a friend's new mini bluetooth keyboard (one that sells with new imac) on my Macpro, and some of the buttons do not seem to map correctly. Example: volume was effecting expose. Is it just not meant to be used with anything other than an imac, or can the buttons be properly mapped?

Can we add internal bluetooth to our MacPro 1.1?

We have a Mac Pro 1,1, purchased in mid 2006 (not sure if it's a 2005 model), Dual Core, 2 GHz, running 10.6.8 but thinking of upgrading to Mountain Lion.
After recently purchasing a wireless mouse, I discovered we do NOT have bluetooth installed, though we DO have the AirPort card installed. I've researched online, and am under the impression that this can be added? I've seen external dongles, and internal cards. My ideal would be to install an internal card (I'm assuming we have the internal antenna).
I've seen referenced that if you do it yourself you can void warranties, and should have it installed at an Apple store. When I called the local Apple store to ask if this was true, that bloke told me flat out that you cannot install one, that it had to have been installed when you purchased the model (which seems incorrect, as I've found numerous examples online of folks putting them in, and have opened up my mac to see the very spot where the card could go, as well as the cord to connect to the board. I'm thinking he may have been more of a sales rep as he immediately followed up with how desperately ancient my 6-year-old MacPro is and that I should consider replacing it, even though it's in perfect working order.)
Can anyone clear this up for me? It seems like the process should be straightforward. If you could include which model of bluetooth option we should look for, that would be appreciated, as well as installation instructions.

How to hook up new MacPro and old G5 w/o bluetooth to Airport?

I will bet someone here can help me. I'm brand-new to wireless. I was told I can connect my new MacPro laptop to communicate with the Hughesnet modem and ALSO cable my trusty workhorse G5 tower (no bluetooth) to the modem at the same time. I only see one ethernet port on this pesky little fella. Do I jump an ethernet cable OUT of the back of the G5 TO the Airport Express (keeping the G5 ethernet internet modem ethernet cconnected as it is now?) That seems to be the only way I could do this. Any and all suggestions are more than welcome! I don't see any threads asking this particular question.

I actually got the Airport Express to work... sporadically. [grin]. But in order to get a righteous connection, I am returning it for the Airport Extreme. I tell you, seeing the wireless work is like the first time back in the 90's, the Net allowed me to transmit files from my boondock home office to clients all over the world. Awesome. I don't think I'll ever cease to be amazed.

Missing Bluetooth in old MacPro

I have a first generation MacPro Desktop PC, purchase in 2006, it does not have Bluetooth capability:
Question: how could I install a hardware to make my MacPro Bluetooth capable? Is there a USB device that can make it Bluetooth capable?

MacPro (OSX 10.7) disconnects bluetooth when asleep, have to restart computer to get bluetooth reconnected

Three times in the last week, when I have put my MacPro (2009, running OSX 10.7.5) to sleep, when I wake it, my Bluetooth Apple Trackpad and my Bluetooth Logitech keyboard are disconnected, and I have a little zig-zag slash through the Bluetooth icon in the upper right menu bar. Up until this week, I have never had this happen before (almost a year running both Trackpad and Keyboard on Bluetooth). Can't figure out why it is doing this. Any ideas?

Okay, I found out how to do a SMC reset, it's what we used to call, "Unplug it and let it sit for a bit. Then plug it back in." That is what I did the first time this happened.
It has happened twice more in the last week since I did that, so although that got the Bluetooth Keyboard and Trackpad reconnected that first time, it hasn't solved the problem of why they both keep disconnecting and the bluetooth icon gets the jagged line through it, when the computer goes to sleep.

yes, it may there already. Click on the Apple, then "About this Mac" then Hardware, and you should be able to see if you have bluetooth built in or not. However, you can, I think, add a bluetooth module to a Mac Pro 1.1. But...Bluetooth reception may not be as good as you want, due to a few things:
1- antenna wires in the wrong sockets on the bluetooth module (so I've heard)
2- design quirks
so you could install an external bluetooth plug in. I bought one from iogear, the 421 which works fine. Please note: the 521 does NOT work with anything other than Mountain Lion (10.8). You may be able to add an external BT antenna, which is beyond my scope right now. you can try something like this

My 2010 Mac Pro does have built in bluetooth but I use the IOGear GBU421 instead. That's because the built in bluetooth on the mac pro suck$ if you are more than about 3 feet from the machine.

It works but you need to get used to its "quirks". If you sleep your machine like I do the dongle is off because there is no USB power when sleeping for the dongle. So you need some wired USB device to wake the machine. In my case I use my wired keyboard.
When waking up it doesn't always become paired immediately (maybe 30% of the time). Then you need to flip the mouse switch to get it active. Interesting enough I don't have that problem with the trackpad.
Most of the time, in the rear occasions I reboot my machine, the mouse is ready to go.
Once you get used to the "quirks" it's no big deal. Hey, for about $9 what do you want?
By the way I also always keep a wired mouse attached as a backup.
