Bluetooth on Sat Pro L300D

I know my Satellite Pro L300D-EZ1002V has wifi since that works.  But does that mean it also has bluetooth?  I can't get that to work.
Solved!
Go to Solution.

No, Bluetooth and WiFi are two distinct things.  The specs on the Toshiba website show that your model does not have built-in Bluetooth.  You need to add a USB Bluetooth adapter, either the one Toshiba sells or a third-party model like Cirago or D-Link.

  • Satellite Pro L300D-110 - Downgrade to XP Pro - HDD devices gone missing?

Hello to all in the Toshibe Satellite Pro forum - my first post.
I've been a happy owner of other Tosh laptops without any problems, but this time I'm unhappy :o(
We bought a Satellite Pro L300D 110 (AMD Athlon Dual Core) laptop just a few days ago for business use. We bought it on the understanding that it could be down-graded to XP Pro - mainly because some of the software we use on a daily basis won't run reliably on Vista, but also because all the other Desktops/Laptops in our network (includes a WLAN) are all running XP Pro, so adding another machine to it should've been easy.
The need to do this was confirmed by the fact despite everything I tried, we just could not get the new Toshiba L300D connecting via our routers whilst running Vista. At the same time, we also bought a new Dell with no O/S. I installed a new copy of OEM XP Pro SP2 - and it's running as sweet as a nut! Sorry, I digress:
I down-graded the L300D to XP Pro fine using the Toshiba XP Pro recovery disk supplied - no problems at all. I got the machine connecting to the network too, but then I realised that the DVD (Pioneer DVD-RW DVRTD08A ATA) was not being found by Windows.
Logged into the BIOS setup - yep, it was listed there OK, but trying a few nips and tucks I've learnt over the years, I still couldn't get XP Pro to discover the device.
I've now reinstalled Vista on the machine and it's found the DVD writer again.
If it were a PC, I'd shut down the machine, open up the case, disconnect the writer, boot up, shut down, reconnect the device, shut case and bingo. But not with a laptop maybe...
Does anyone have any ideas how to (reliably!) downgrade to XP Pro without devices disappearing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I do have two more new copies of XP Pro SP2 at my disposal, if that's any use.
    Kind regards
    David

    >I'm happy again now :o)
    Great to hear that!
    Just for info:
The newer notebook series supports newer SATA HDD controllers and therefore the OS cannot be installed if the SATA drivers are not included and preinstalled.
So if you want to use the SATA features you need to install firstly the SATA driver.
But you can also turn the SATA mode to compatibility mode (in BIOS) and this would allow you to install the Win XP without the needed SATA drivers.

  • Sat Pro M10 will not boot up anymore

My Sat Pro M10 worked fine until yesterday. I removed the harddrive just to check Part number (as i need to install a larger drive and want to make sure I got it right)and then re-inserted it. Now it boots up as far as the XP Pro loading screen (black background) which disappears and then the screen goes blank. This is what normally happens during boot-up, except that there would be a cursor over the blank background for a few seconds until my desktop appears. Also, when it has stopped at this blank screen the harddrive light on the front of the laptop flashes regularly every few seconds. I desperately need some of the data on the hard-drive (and no, it is not all backed up) so I do not want to use the recovery CD which is just a ghost image (isn't it). The drive is formatted as NTFS. I mention this because when I tried to use the recovery disc to check disc integrity it gave an error message that said the NTFS logfile is not loaded. It will not respond to any of the F8 safemode-type options. I think I have messed up the booting up process somehow by removing the drive rather than physically breaking anything. it seems it can read the boot partition but no further. Can anyone suggest how to fix this, or worst comes to worst a way of retrieving the data from the disc?
    Thanks and appreciation in advance,
    Chris

    Hi Chris
If the system runs stabile you can remove HDD so many times you want and it should have no any influence on anything. I have removed HDD from my Tecra very often and it still works well.
Back to your issue: if there is any possibility try to connect your HDD as external device to other notebook or desktop to see if you can see it and even back up all your important data.
All Toshiba notebooks, I suppose, since two years have NTFS and that is nothing unusual.

  • Keyboard on Sat Pro 6100 doesn't work properly after remedial work

    Hi,
My Sat Pro 6100 has just been away for the usual motherboard and power board replacement with Toshiba, but now I have a strange keyboard problem.
When I turn it on, all the keys work. After a few minutes, '3' doesn't work, then 'r' fails, then '5','7','8','9','0' stop working. At this stage I can feel something getting very hot under the middle of the keyboard. A reboot and no keys work. Another reboot with an external PS2 keyboard, and the internal keyboard is still faulty (some keys work, others don't) but the external one works correctly.
Now if the pc didn't get so hot under the middle of the internal keyboard, then I would conclude that the keyboard was faulty, but for it to fail slowly and sequentially like this, and it fails the same way every day (Since the Toshiba rebuild!).
    Maybe, internal keyboard controller overheating?
Does anyone know what this might be? :-(
    Cheers,
    Homer

Right under the keyboard of your pro 6100 is the VGA graphics controller (the keyboard cable plugs into the same card). It is normal that this part becomes warm during usage.
It's strange that your problem appears after a while and not right away.
It might be just an improper reseating of the keyboard cable (it's a thin layer like a photo film-negative) that easily pops out, but... it can be something more serious, too. (Especially since you had the upgrade done where hardware had to be changed)
I would consult the service center once again and ask for instructions how to deal with this. Don't ignore it (by using an external keyboard instead of the malfunctioning internal) as it might end up into something more serious soon...

  • CD or DVD drives for a sat pro 6000

any one know if i can put a Model number SD-C2302 dvd player in to a sat pro 6000 lab top or no of any that i can put in please?

    Hi Adrian,
You are mostly correct in your statement about CD/DVD drives for your notebook. However, it is important that you only buy drives with dimensions similar to your current model.
Generally CD/DVD drives come in two varieties, those destined for tower type installation and those destined for notebooks. The latter are usually designated as 'slim' or 'slimfit'.
To install the new drive you usually need to unscrew and remove any fitting brackets used to anchor your drive to your notebook together with any plastic trim components. These will then need to be attached to your new drive.
Toshiba notebooks use various drives (Toshiba, TEAC, Mat****a, etc.) so you will generally have a reasonably wide variety to choose from.
Finally, you may need to download drivers for your new drive if none are provided or if your purchase an OEM version. These can be obtained from the drive manufacturers web-site.

  • Dark screen on Sat Pro A10

    Hi
    I have a Sat Pro A10.
My problem is that my screen is so dark I cannot see the contents (maybe its the backlight?). However when the computer boots I can see the Toshiba logon screen fine. I can also get the picture to appear normal if I shut the lid and then open it. However the screen will only stay normal for a few seconds.
Anyone have any ideas whats wrong here? Why does the screen work when booting up and then go wrong? Is this a hardware or a software problem?
    Any help would be great.

Did you resolve this problem? It seems I have a similar problem, The bottom of my screen,or the caseing with the pcb strip behind it went very hot,(too hot to touch). I then fiddled around, as you do, and now it's buggered???
I can now just see the bits on the screen but they are extremely dark, and it;s not hot anymore.
    Is it this Inverter, thingy??
    Thanks in adavance..

  • Sat Pro 6000 - DVD decoder needed

I have owned my faithful Sat Pro 6000 for nearly 6 years. I have had to use the recovery discs and reformat back to factory settings. Now I am unable to play DVD??s, I am asked for the decoder.
Why is this requesting being made now? Can this be downloaded?

In my knowledge the DVD software cannot be downloaded.
On the Toshiba recovery CD you will find an image which contains all preinstalled tools on the notebook!
Many Toshiba notebooks were delivered with the WinDVD software and this program can be used for DVD movie watching.
If you ask ONLY for the DVD decoder plug-in for Windows media player so you will have to download it from the Microsoft site.
    Search simply in the net!

  • Video capture with Sat Pro M70: What ports and leads can I use?

I want to edit my home movies on my Sat Pro M70 using WXP Pro (win dvd or movie maker). I want to capture the video from my panasonic camcorder which has digital tapes. what ports can I use and what leads do I need? I am desperate to edit my recent wedding video to put onto DVD and post to my mum. The panasonic website has been ignoring me! Any advice anyone ??

Well, as far as I know this unit has only an S-video out port. In this case you can connect the notebook to the TV and watch the picture from notebook on TV but its not possible to receive any signals from TV or any other device on notebook.
To receive the signals you need a composite port or an s-video in port.
However, if the camcorder has a firewire port so you can send the digital files thru the firewire connection. But this should only works with digital files which are saved on the camcorder.

  • Satellite Pro L300D-138 restarts on shut down

    Hi,
I recently bought myself a Satellite Pro L300D-138, and I also got one for my parents. Almost every time I shut it down, it automatically restarts. I think it only happens when there are updates that are being installed, but I think it might be happening even if there aren't updates. I'm not getting messages that say, 'New updates, restart needed.' or anything. I also didn't think updates needed restarts as such, but that shutting the computer down, and then turning it on again tomorrow, or whatever would complete the updates. Maybe I'm wrong..? Is there somewhere I should be looking out for new update/restart requests?
It's not a big deal, really, it's just a bit of a pain in the @55 having to go back to the laptop to shut it down again a few minutes after shutting it down... Am I making sense? I feel like I'm repeating myself! :)
This is also happening with the laptop I got for my parents, so I presume it's a Toshiba thing, or a new computer thing, I just wanna know whether I can make it stop or if I just gotta set aside 10 minutes for shut downs!!!!
    Cheers for any help!
    Ailbhe

He told me to go to run, type in cmd, hit enter
then type in powercfg -devicequery wake_armed
then control panel- system -hardware- device manager
In +modems, right click on Toshiba modem, properties, power management, and uncheck box that said 'enable restart on standby' or something.
It worked for sbout 5 or 6 hours yesterday, in that i closed down one or the other of the laptops two or three times each and they stayed shut down. Then last night when I was shutting mine down, it restarted again, i checked both computers 2 or 3 times this morning, problem was back.
    So, I went:
control panel- system- hardware- device manager- view- show hidden devices.
Down the list was 'serial' with a yellow boxed exclamation mark, i clicked on it, troubleshooted it.
It said to uninstall then reinstall.
I uninstalled, did a restart, went back there, to try to reinstall or find a place where it could instruct me to do something, and there was nothing. I shut the computer down and it stayed shut down. I tried again 2 more times, and it stayed shut down twice more. I dunno what 'serials' is for, what it was meant to be doing (it said it wasn't working) and whether or not i've done something bad now!
the first thing, with the unchecking of the box, I was told to do, but the unistalling of the serial device could lead to problems for me....
I hope not, but at the moment the problem seems to be stopped, so fingers crossed.
Sorry, I'm not very eloquent when it comes to mapping out what to do with a computer!
    Hope this sheds some light...

  • Sat Pro A10 shuts down after 15 mins playing internet games

    hello
when i play games from internet like zuma ,scherwoods my notebook sat pro A10 shut down after 15 min playing
when i start up my notebook he make a disk reading
what can i do what happens
    [email protected]

    Hi
In my opinion the overheating is the problem. First you can try is to clean up the unit properly. I presume that CPU and graphic card runs very intensive and produce a lot of warmness. If the hardware can not be cooled properly the notebook shuts down suddenly.
    Clean it up.

    Hello
If you download SD memory Card driver from Toshiba download site there you can find readme.txt file. There is a explanation how to install the Toshiba SD Host Controller and SD Memory Card Driver.
    How to install:
The SD host controller driver should be installed first. After installing the SD host controller driver,we can install the SD memory card driver. Each driver can be installed as follows operations.
    For SD host controller driver,
    Windows2000/XP
    1. From [Start] menu, select the [Settings], then click on the [Control Panel].
    2. Double-click on [System] and choose the [Hardware] tab.
    3. Click on [Device Manager].
    4. Double-click on [Base System Device].
    5. Choose the [Driver] tab and click on the [Update Driver] button.
    6. Click on [Next] and choose [Display a list of the known drivers...].
    7. Click on [Next] and select [Network adapters] in [Hardware types].
    8. Choose the [Have Disk] button.
    9. Locate the folder "{CD-drive}: Toshiba SD Host Controller Driver" and follow the instructions on the screen.
    10. Finally, restart the Windows.
    For SD memory card driver,
After installing SD host controller driver,
    1. Insert the SD memory card in the SD slot.
    2. OS detects it and starts to install the SD memory card driver.
    3. Specify the inf file ({CD-drive}: Toshiba SD Memory Card Driver) and forward the setup process.
    4. Copy the SDDEVMGR.dll file under the Windows System directory.
Note that System directory means \WINNT\SYSTEM32 for Windows 2000 and \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 for Windows XP.
    Good luck!

  • Sat Pro 4300: BSOD on boot, avoided if delay

    Hi
I have a Sat Pro 4300, running W2K SP4. Had it since 2001 with no problems.
Recently I've been getting "unexpected kernel mode trap" and sometimes "ACPI BIOS not fully ACPI compliant" BSODs during boot (before it gets to any kind of graphics). Happens in safe and normal mode.
By experimentation I've found that I get no BSOD and boot normally if I F2 during bootup and just hang arond for a while (five minutes or so), then boot.
If I run a memory test after booting into the Ultimate Boot CD, sometimes I see a lot of bad memory, sometimes not. I think it depends how long I've waited before booting into the CD.
Anyone like to hazard a guess whether this is hardware or software? I rather assume the former. I suppose it could be memory gone bad, or worse power regulation on the mainboard has begun to go.
In either case probably not worth repairing, but I'd appreciate anyone's opinions.

    Hello
I do not know for sure what the problem can be but replacement part for this oldie are not so expensive and you can try to make some experiments. Check eBay. There you can find everything possible. I can imagine the whole mainboard for this oldie should not be expensive.
Check the prices and make decision.

  • Sat Pro L20 - What PCI Card do I need?

I have a Sat Pro L20 (model PSL2YE-00J005EN). What PCI Card do I need for a Wi-Fi connection? They all seem to be 32 bit cards but my manual says I have a 16 bit slot.

    Hi
I have visit the Toshiba accessories website and I have found a information that some unit has always the wireless card. Did you check in the device manager if there is a wireless card?
Unfortunately I dont have found a exactly part number of the wireless card which is compatible but if you want to order one so I would recommend to contact the Toshiba service partner. There you can order the miniPCI which is 100% compatible with your unit.

  • Sat Pro 4600 - Suitable Replacement HD

I am looking to replace my aging Sat Pro 4600 HD. Anywhere from a 40gig to 80gig HD, but I am confused by Toshiba's GAP and GAX models.
    Is any size HD okay?
What is the difference between a GAX and a GAP model?
    Is any make suitable.
    Any special recommendations.

    Hi buddy,
I think the maximum of 80 Gig is ok, because the controller of the Satellite is not able to handle more.
Regarding your question of the GAP thing and the GAX thing you should visit that website, heres every information you need to know about toshiba HDDs:
    http://www.storage.toshiba.eu/
One thing which I can tell you about the GAX pladders is, that the magnetic disc in that type of hdd is "air-mounted" and not with liquids or something.
    But you will see. ;)
