Bluetooth OPP Help - Samsung A640 Phone

Hey everyone. I recently bought a phone from sprint, a Samsung A640, which is a bluetooth phone. I even more recently got an iMac, which also has bluetooth. Now, when I try and sync the phone with the computer(namely my address book), something odd happens. If I initiate the bluetooth connection(Object Push Profile) from my phone, I can copy the address book files TO my Mac. But when I initiate it from the Mac, it says it transfers on the phone and computer, but when I look under my address book on my phone, nothing more is there than before the transfer. If anyone has any experience on the matter, I would appreciate it. I also know that supposedly, you can look at your calls, and make them, through(I believe) address book. I don't know if my phone is compatible with that feature, but if you have it, let me know what you do!
Thanks
Max

This, I'm afraid, is not a Mac solution, but it does seem to work. Using Parallels, a USB cable that I bought on eBay, and Windows, I was able to follow the steps shown here: http://www.howardforums.com/archive/topic/983423-1.html
I haven't tried it for photos yet, but it did work for moving a midi file for use as a ringtone. Other Bell SPH-a640 users in the thread say it works for them. I tried doing it with the Mac version of Bitpim, but this would only recognize the bluetooth port; it said the USB port was closed. It would not allow the transfer of data over the bluetooth port. It's a clunky method, but it does defeat Bell's attempt to prevent us from using our cell phones more fully.

  • Leopard bluetooth sync with Samsung Sway phone?

I'm about to purchase a Samsung Sway cell phone and was wondering if it will sync with bluetooth?

It's a great phone and I got it too. So far neither of these companies have support yet.
I've been in email contact with Novamedia in Germany and they are keen to help but they need info on the phone. They sent me a PhoneInspector application that would generate a report (which would then be sent the the company) but I couldn't make it pair with the phone.
Anybody want the app to give it a shot?

Oh no! Sounds like your phone has sustained physical damage pctrackmom. Do you have insurance? If so, you can process a claim for a replacement at http://bit.ly/07CrqPK at your convenience.

  • Need help getting old Palm Zire 31 data on my laptop into my new Samsung Omnia phone

Hope someone can help me, as I am technically illiterate. I have a new Samsung Omnia phone w/Verizon service w/all the features (calendar, contacts, web, etc). I am replacing my Palm Zire 31 because it died - but all contacts/calendar info is backed up on my laptop. Verizon can't help me get my PDA contacts/calendar, etc. into my new Omnia phone. I have NO idea what to do, but am thinking if i could somehow dump the old palm data into my outlook i might be able to get it into the new phone? Anyone out there that can help me? (I don't even know how to dump the Palm data into outlook)
    Post relates to: Zire 31

Hi..  Welcome to the Palm forums.  Since you have your data in palm desktop and your looking to move your data to outlook there is a utility that you can purchase that will do just that.  It is called pocketcopy and can be found at chapura.com for $24.95.  Being it is 3rd party software if you have any problems or questions you will need to talk to their support.

  • I have an ipod nano, and an HP laptop. I've purchased music from the itunes store, as well as down loaded most of my cd's to the library. My question is: how do I get all this music into my Samsung smart phone?

I've spent the last 6 months purchasing from the istore and downloading CD's to my library, in preparation for a 6000km cruiser trip on my motorcycle this summer. Only to find out that I cannot download from itunes to my Samsung smart phone. Does anyone know why, or does anyone know how? I called Mac tech support and they told me it cannot be done, I have to purchase an iphone. Please help, I've got 2000 songs for the trip and a bluetooth headset in my helmet. I own an ipod nano full of the same songs, but of course Mac made it so you cannot blue tooth a nano, so I have to use my phone.
    Thanks ahead of time!
PS  Keep your instructions rather simple though please, I'm 60 yrs old!

iTunes and Apple's devices work as an ecosystem. iTunes is designed to sync with Apple's products, not anyone else's. You'll need your songs in a format compatable with the Samsung phone and to use the software transfer program supplied/recommended. It is essentially not an Apple/iTunes problem. You may have better luck finding the information you need on Samsung's forums.

  • IPhone5 bluetooth in car not finding phone

    Hi,
I am trying to pair my iPhone 5 with the bluetooth in my car.  It was connected, and worked just great.
Somehow, the connection was lost.  I try to pair, and I get a message saying "Unable to find device" and it suggests that I am out of range (I am not).
    Any help is much appreciated.

Is the car still listed in the Bluetooth of the iPhone? If not, then is Bluetooth turned on? If you turn Bluetooth off/on for the phone, what happens? Have you updated devices lately, changed phones, etc.? If the car is listed in the Bluetooth on the phone, then delete it, power the phone off/on and then try again.

  • I have moved my sdcard over to my samsung brightside phone. but the videos can not be read. Is there anyone out there whom may have experienced the same issue?

i have moved my sdcard over to my samsung brightside phone,. but the videos can not be read. Is there anyone out there whom may have experienced the same issue? I also tried transferring my files over to my pc first, then reformatted the sdcard, then transferred to the appropriate files back onto the sdcard and put back into samsung.

Thanks for the info SuzyQ. lorsa, the community is correct, pictures and videos can be saved differently on other phones. What phone did you remove the SIM card from? Where did you purchase your SIM card from? Your previous phones SD card and format may not be compatible with your Brightside device. I show you advise that you reformated your memory card but make sure the files are saved correctly. Listed below are the different type of files you can save, receive, and view for pics and videos with your device.
Files that are compatible with the Brightside device:
    JPEG (*.jpg, *.jpeg, *.jpe)
    BMP (*.bmp)
    PNG (*.png)
    GIF (*.gif)
    3G2 (*.3g2)
    3GP (*.3gp)
    MPEG4 (*.mpg)
Please let me know if the information above helped with your issue. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. Make sure you always power cycle periodically. You may also need to peform a hard rest for your phone.

  • ISync does not correctly connect with or identify my Samsung A437 Phone

I just got an AT&T Samsung A437 Phone (courtesy of work). I have connected the phone to my computer via the USB cable supplied by AT&T, but the phone is not correctly identified/connected to iSync. The phone shows up in iSync as an "unidentified Motorola phone" and iSync won't/can't talk to it. The phone also does not mount on the desktop for file transfers.
Any help or suggestions (besides the obvious "get an iPhone" - my company bought this subscription - I don't have a choice of equipment) would be appreciated. TIA.
    Webb Sussman

I also have a A437 and am trying to get my MacBook Pro to recognize it with no success. There doesn't appear to be an option in the Samsung setup to make the device 'recognizable', but I thought the Mac would simply find the device when I went into setup.

I have 2 Samsung S5 phones.  One has used way over the limit for no apparent reason.  I have WiFi at home.  What could be causing this problem?

    Hello KF2PX
I'm sorry to hear your having issues with your S5. I would be happy to look into this with you. Are there different apps on both devices? Do either device auto play videos when opening apps? For example Facebook. Here's a great link to see what's using the data: http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/data-utilization-faqs/

  • Need simple instructions on transfering photos from Samsung Gusto phone to computer.

Need simple instructions on transferring photos from Samsung Gusto phone to my PC.

smcolvin, happy to help with getting those pictures transferred. As the Samsung Gusto does not have the mass storage functionality, this requires a out of the box solution. You can send the pictures as a picture message and place your email address in the "to" field. Open your email inbox on your computer, open the messages and then download the images to the computer (usually right click and "save as").
Alternatively, you can send the pictures to the online album and access them there. To send to the online album from your phone, press the left soft key. Message>New Message>Picture message. At the "New Picture Msg" screen, press the Right Soft Key and add "To Online Album." Select "Send." On your computer launch your web browser and log into MyVerizon at verizonwireless.com and then go to vzwpix.com .
