Bluetooth photos and videos from iPod to iMac

Hi,
I originally had an iPod touch, and recently bought myself an iMac and I love them both.
One problem confuses me though. I recently paired my iPod to my iMac through bluetooth, because I normally keep my cable in my car for playing my music while I am driving.
I'm trying to do a simple task of sending photos and videos taken via my iPod to store on my iMac via bluetooth. It seems when I go to the 'Browse Device' option for the iPod, this is not supported, it says that the device does not have the neccessary services or something.
Now I have done a bit of research, and discovered an App for doing this, which I have to pay for...
Am I missing something here? Surely this is a feature that should be the most basic of basic of basic features that anybody who has paid out a massive amount of money for a really good computer should have as standard? Afterall, they are both Apple products, and one of the selling points of Apple is that all Apple products work seamlessly together, in sincing and all that jazz. Don't get me wrong, I love both products, they do work pretty **** well, when a cable is used... but surely, I must be missing something. Bluetooth has been out for years and years, and Apple are supposed to be so good at this sort of thing?
Anyhoo, I'm sure that there's a simple feature I'm missing, and one of you inteligent Apple boffins will be able to enlighten me as to what I'm doing wrong, for example maybe there's a Wifi feature I should be using instead?.. I've only been using an Apple for a few weeks so far, and I'm still getting used to it.
Many thanks,
Chris

Hi..

It takes time to learn ...

Not necessary.
Best way to transfer photos and video from your iPod to your iMac is iTunes.
Connect the iPod to your Mac.
Launch iTunes.
Select the iPod under Devices left side of the iTunes window.
Select Apps, Tones, Music, Movies, etc from the menu to sync.

  • Apple TV for watching photos and videos from IMAC

I am considering purchasing Apple TV 40GB for streaming photos and videos from my IMAC to TV on demand. Is that use case supported well by Apple TV or they are secondary and watching movies and TV shows from Itunes library are the primary use cases? I looked up Apple's page on Apple TV but it does not even talk about watching home videos using Apple TV.
Through posts on this forum and other places, I found that I would have to "export" video in either large or medium format. The question is how is the quality of watching that video using ATV over wireless N network?
Related question is how good is ATV's video card?
Is this a common use cases many people use ATV for? I have recorded lot of videos using Sony mini-DV camcorder but don't end up watching because creating DVD and keeping organized DVD library is a cumbersome process.
The other question I have is about usability of Apple remote. I don't have Iphone or Ipod touch with the remote app. Is the Apple remote good enough for playing videos, photos and occassionaly music?
    Thanks in advance,
    DJ

Thanks. A couple of follow-up questions:
    1) All I need to do to stream is to have Itunes running, right? In other words, I don't need to go to IMAC to initiate streaming. Is there a way to wake up the IMAC if it is in standby mode?
You need imac running with itunes open, and both it an AppleTV connected to the local network.
I don't think it'll work with computer in standby mode.
    2) I am planning to use Imovie's built-in export function. Is that good enough or do I need other softwares mentioned here (MPEGStreamclip or Handbrake)? Where do I get these softwares? Are they significantly better than Imovie's export function?
Both are free one from squared5.com, the other you can Google. iMovie's output may well be fine, but I have found in the past that standard export settings didn't give me best results and better could be achieved either using custom export settings from iMovie or using other apps, some of which can be a bit quicker. You will also be able to use the Handbrake app to make Appletv compatible video of your home made non-commercial DVDs (without menus).
Quality is pretty much in the eye of the beholder so if imovie does the job no reason not to use it.
    3) I have noticed that video quality on my IMAC is not as good as that of same video on DVD created using iDVD. Have 50 inch Plasma TV with up-conversion DVD player. Maybe the graphics card of my IMAC is not as good. I am bringing this up because someone mentioned that quality of video using ATV would be as good as the one seen on IMAC.
Any upscaling done on the DVD player is altering the original content to give a potentially more pleasing image though not adding any real information.
The DVD is likely to be of lower quality (though perhaps barely perceptible if conversion is good) than your source video on the iMac, and any differences are likely to be down to the DVD player vs software playback on the iMac, coupled potentially with scaling and frame interpolation on the TV depending on how the set processes incoming video.
I think it's impossible to say how you'd find AppleTV compared to DVD for playback of your home video though I think the majority of people are more than happy when things have been encoded well.

  • How to restore photos and videos from old Ipod

    Hello,
I recently got my iPod exchanged at the Apple Store. I restored it to my old iPod settings and everything restored: videos, apps, documents, everything EXCEPT photos and videos I had taken using the camera on my OLD iPod.
I'm nearly positive the photos and videos are stored on my computer somewhere, but they aren't syncing onto my new ipod.
In Summary. I took pictures on iPod #1. I synced iPod #1. I restored iPod #2. The pictures from iPod #1 don't appear on iPod #2.
    Can you help me?

  • I need to get back individually erased photos and videos from my iMac with no backups to help. Please help

i need to get back individually erased photos and videos from my iMac with no backups to help. this is an attempt to consolidate all my data, new and old so I can uninstall Maverick and put Mountain Lion back on my iMac.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the files have been overwritten and you don't have a backup, they're gone.
If they have not been overwritten, then there are third-party apps (for example Techtool Pro 7 ) with data recovery functions that might be able to retrieve some or all of your files.
    Backing up is good.

  • How to transfer photos and video from MacBook to ipad

How do I transfer photos and video from laptop/MacBook Pro to my iPad. Also how do I download videos from internet to my iPad.

You can sync photos and videos to your iPad via your computer's iTunes.
To sync photos, connect and select your iPad on the left-hand sidebar of your computer's iTunes (you can enable the sidebar via option-command-S on a Mac), and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
If the videos are films that you want to go into the Videos app then you first need to add them to your computer's iTunes library via File > Add To Library, and you can then use the Films/Movies tab to select and sync them

What format are the videos in that you want to download, and have you got an app on your iPad that supports that format ?

    iPhone 4S

After transferring photos and videos from my iphone to icloud, how to delete photos and videos from my iPhone 4S

Thanks to both of you for your replies.
For some reason, the Camera & Scanner Wizard has started to detect the phone now. Maybe it will stop again in the future, but for now it's OK.
I do have iTunes installed, and the iPhone's still not appearing in Windows Explorer. I might reinstall if the problem recurs.
Yep, it's an official Apple cable, but it's a bit old. I got it with my iPod a few years back. Maybe i should start using that as the charger cable, and the new cable i got with my iPhone for syncing?
    Thanks again for your replies.

  • I recently had to swap out my iphone 4s and I am having problems restoring photos and videos from icloud.  I get a message on my phone that says " the URL you are requesting is not found on this server".  Pics and videos have been deleted too.

I recently had to swap out my iphone 4s and I am having problems restoring photos and videos from icloud.  When I restored my phone from icloud, half of my pics and videos have been deleted, the pics that were restored on my phone are very blurry, and the videos won't play.  I get a message on my phone that says " the URL you are requesting is not found on this server".  I have erased and reset my phone twice, but every time I do it, more pics and videos are deleted.  I have backed up to icloud and iphoto, however, some of the pics are no longer on iphoto either.  Is there someway to get the videos to play on my phone again?  Make the photos not as blurry as they are now and to restore the pics and videos that have been lost?  I really would love to have them back, this phone is supposed to be the best and right now it doesn't seem to be.  Please help if you can.

I too have noticed that once i restored from iCloud. Pictures blurry and videos wont play!
    Need help too!!

  • Can I create separate folders to save media on my Airport Time Capsule? Issue is I have a 256GB HDD Mac Pro Retina which is almost full. TC will only take backup of my HDD. So where would I save my photos and videos from my iPhone and iPad?

It is a hard one.. laptops with small drives are a pain.
What you need is a home media server.
Some people use a PC running itunes for cost.. but that is nothing like as good as using a Mac mini.. they make great little HTPC device.. you can plug in large hard disks and store all your files and media. And share it with the network.. Read up apple's instructions on home sharing.
    https://www.apple.com/au/support/homesharing/
For cost you can buy a mini from 2011 or 2012.. I would not recommend earlier ones.. the advantage of 2012 is they have USB3 ports. But you will pay more for them.. new mini is not as useful.. they have soldered in memory and you cannot upgrade.. the old mini was the most easily modified mac in the whole range. Uses little power and can be bought for a $300US for a good one second hand.. maybe less.

  • How can I display the photos and videos from the Nano to Altec's iMV712

I am trying to display photos and videos from a 3G Nano to larger display on Altec Lansings iMV712
While I know I can view it from the cradle, I was wondering if a TV Out would work?
Has anyone managed to get this to work?

Jim VanLeeuwen has already given you the answer, but (for your future reference), when I saw your comment -- on an RSS feed -- that "The Apple help site is useless" I went to the Support pages and in the search box at the top, entered, "transfer photos from iPhone to Mac".  The top result was the one Jim VanLeeuwen offers.

  • How do I get my wife's photos and video from her iCloud to my iPad?

How do I get my wife's photos and video from her iCloud to my iPad. She no longer has an iDevice and I want to retrieve some really sentimental photos and videos of my grandson. I've logged on to her iCloud account on my iPad, but don't know what to do next.
    Thanks
    Tony

Her camera roll photos and videos would be included in her backup.  Restoring her backup to the iPad should recover them.
Start by creating a current backup of your iPad that you can restore your data from later.  It's faster if you do this on your computer using iTunes; if you can't, create a backup in your iCloud account.  If you can back up to your computer, do this by connecting the iPad to your computer, opening iTunes and going to File>Devices>Back Up.  Then go to File>Devices>Transfer Purchases.
Then erase the iPad and restore her iCloud backup as explained here: https://support.apple.com/kb/ph12521.  When it's done, import the recovered photos and videos to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.
Then erase the iPad again and restore the backup you made earlier, either from iTunes or from iCloud depending on where you backed it up.
If you want the photos back on the iPad, put them in a folder and sync them to your iPad by selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.  If you want to videos back on your iPad, import them to your iTunes library (File>Add to Library), then sync them to your iPad from the Movies tab of your iTunes sync settings.  You will then find them in the Home Movies section of the Videos app on your iPad.  Just so you are aware, photos that you sync to your iPad can only be removed later by syncing them off your iPad (by deselecting the folder on the Photos tab and syncing again).  They can't be deleted on the iPad itself.

  • How do I transfer photos and videos from my iPhone to my PC using iCloud and Photo Stream?

I am quite confused with how iCloud and Photo Stream work to transfer photos and videos from my iPhone to my PC. I recently ran out of my space on iPhone so I need to delete all of my pictures and videos but I first want to confirm that they have all been transferred over to my PC. I have iCloud setup but here lately I have been getting the warning message that iCloud could not perform it's backup because I was out of space on iCloud. I had not worried about it since I figured that all of my pictures and videos were on my iPhone anyway and the only reason I would need them on iCloud would be for a backup. Anyway, how can I confirm that everything has been transferred over to my PC? Then, what is the quickest way to delete all of my exisiting photos and videos off of my iPhone? I found the Photo Stream folder on my PC... Is everything automatically added to this when I connect my iPhone to my PC? If I delete something off of my iPhone is it deleted from the Photo Stream folder on my PC? Please help and thank you! I just don't want to lose any of my stuff!

You don't move them to iTunes or an iTunes account.
You should be importing them to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera.
