Bluetooth problems: prefs revert to defaults after reboot

Hi there,
I have a strange problem with Bluetooth and wireless input devices. I have set up Apple wireless keyboard and mouse, and also ticked "Show Bluetooth status in the menu bar" in Bluetooth preferences. However, after I reboot bluetooth icon disappears from the menu bar, and Magic Mouse prefs revert to defaults.
Apart from that, I am not able to tick "Allow Bluetooth devices wake up this computer" in Preferences – Bluetooth – Advanced.
What can it possibly be?
Before that I had the same issue with Dock (its icons would return to a certain state every time after reboot, no matter how I'd change or rearrange them before restarting). I managed to solve Dock issue by trashing Dock .plist files. I guess it may be the same with Bluetooth, but I don't know which .plist to trash this time (tried deleting com.apple.Bluetooth.plist, it doesn't work).

I don't have a logitech mouse, but is it possible that the mouse is going to sleep during the reboot, and is thus unavailable when the OS is looking for it?

  • T520 Ultranav buttons reset to default after reboot

I love the touchpad and make extensive use of its capabilities.  Nearly half of the programmable functions were reinitialized to factory default after reboot when I first bought my t520.  Most of the problems were  resolved little by little with subsequent software releases.   The only problem that has not been resolved is the reinitialization of the left and right buttons.    I have set them up to execute pre-recorded keystrokes.  After I reboot, the left and right buttons are reset to left and right clicks respectively.    Interestingly, the keystroke sequences are retained.  I just have to highlight the "Record and play....."  text and apply the change.     It's livable but it's annoying.    My drivers are up to date, windows is up to date, computer is clean as I am very selective as to what I install.    Anyone else have initialization problems like this?

go to the folder /library/preferences/audio and delete everything in it. then restart and see if sound preferences hold from now on.
note: that's the library at the top level of the drive, not in your home directory.

  • Call park music on hold reverts to default after server reboot

    Hello,
We are noticing that if you define Music on hold for the Park service, the call park music on hold reverts to default sound after server reboot. (all systems we've tested do this)
Anyone using park music on hold that can verify one way or the other?

  • Keyboard shortcuts defaults after reboot

I have changed some of the system keyboard shortcuts, but after a reboot they go back to their default setting.
I'm suspecting that I have a corrupted preference file or something, since I have also experienced some strange crashes.
Is there a program that can "clean" the preference folder or where do I find the plist that contains keyboard shortcuts?
    Thanks!

If your preferences are not sticking, you could well have a permissions problem. But, note that "Repair Permissions" does not look at anything in your Home folder.
Open the Terminal (from /Applications/Utilities) and copy and paste the following into the Terminal window, one line at a time, with a return after each line:
    ls -ld ~/Library/Preferences/
    ls -l ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
Copy and paste the result from the Terminal window to a post here.
Also, we might as well see the current settings, so copy and paste again:
    defaults read ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences com.apple.preference.keyboard.configkeys.trianglestate
    Post that output as well.

  • (Mac): Flash 10 reverts to 9 after rebooting

    Hello,
I'm a system admin looking after Macs. Since Flash 10.1 came out I keep seeing it reverting to Flash 9 after a reboot.
I've been testing it on a couple of different machines but now, predominantly on my own as hat fails reliably no later than the second reboot.
Once it has reverted the version info says: You have version 9,0,115,0 installed.
The Addons-PlugIns list shows the 'current' version: e.g. Shockwave Flash 10.0 r42*
    * I know that isn't the latest version but I've been trying to go back to one that I know would 'stick'.
This is happening on Intel Macs of differnet models. The OS involved varies between these three: 10.4.11, 10.5.8 and 10.6.4. The browsers involved have been Safari 4.1 and 5, Firefox 3.6, 3.6.4 and 3.6.6.
My methods to re-install have been installing over the top, manually adding the flashplayer.plugin and -.xpt files. Uninstalling with Adobe's uninstaller or deleting the files and caches manually.
I'm thoroughly baffled but I've seen no mention of this problem on the internet. It's a very repeatable problem for me.
Thanks in advance for any helps.

Hi, I can only relate to how the Installer works on a PC and then with Installing into IE. If there is any permission issue(not using the Administrator account) or an Anti-Virus blocking the Install of the ActiveX, then the Install aborts and leaves the FP version that was previously Installed in place. Then an error message is issued. I would think that it would work the same with Firefox or any other browser that is supported.
Was that version 9.0.0.15 the version that was being Uninstalled? I would think even if Flash Player came Installed with the OS, that would not prevent the Uninstaller and Installer from working. At least I have not read of anything regarding that.
We have a helper that would be able to help you further on the Macs. When he comes on the Forum, he ususally replies to the threads that have Mac in their subject line.
Also, Pat has extensive knowledge on Flash Player and computers, networks, etc. Hopefully either one will see your thread and respond.
    Thanks,

  • Problems to start SAP instance after reboot

    Hello experts,
we are occuring a problem that we are not able to start our SAP instance after we applied some MS patches and rebooted the server. We also deinstalled these patches buzt this also did not help, so I guess the reason somewhere else.
    We are running a SQL server 2000 on a Windows 2003 SP2 (32bit)
SAP kernel is 640 PL 304
The SQL server seems to operate normally, however when we try to start SAP via MMC the process disp+work fails (it's green for a few seconds, but then turn so grey).
In dev_w0 I can find this entry

    Hi,
yes I read this SAP note however when I try to install this patch
It fails with message "installation unsuccessful"
    Reason ??
    Check the following:
    1. Status of SQLServer Service(s)?
    2. Windows Event Log Entries?
What is the SP level of SQL Server 2000 ?
Also, Perform the Connectivity Test as per[ this link|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827422/].

  • Indicator reverts to default after set control value

Sorry.   Tried to put a tab in my message, then pushed space twice and apparently posted this a couple times....
I've noticed that if I try to programatically set the value of an indicator (which is in the connector pane) using the Set Control Value method it reverts back to its default value once the VI is finished executing.  If it's not in the connector pane I don't have this problem.  If I use Set Control Value, then read from a local variable of the indicator to set the indicator I also get no problem.  Why is this?  I've attached two block diagram images below showing what I did.
I'm interested in this because I'm trying to write a subvi that retrieves and stores a bunch of global values from a config file.  The easiest way to do this seemed to me to use the OpenG vi that reads and writes the front panel controls to a config file (since some of my controls I wish to save are complicated).  It didn't seem to work unless I added the second step of using the local variable to update the indicator.

  • Finder window size reverts to default after restart

My Finder window doesn't remember the last size I set it to after a restart.
Mountain Lion was a downgrade - there are many things about Snow Leopard that were better...but Jaguar was the best.  Powerbook G4 was pure freedom all the way through Tiger.
    #googlingLinuxDistros

For rants: File a bug report with Apple.
For the Finder window issue, it appears that all of you .DS_Store files are corrupted. Step one is to remove them all.  To delete the .DS_Store files, run this in the Terminal app:
    sudo find / -name ".DS_Store"  -exec rm {} \;</
At the Password: prompt, carefully enter your admin password, since nothing shows up on the screen, and hit the return key. When the default prompt, usually the $ sign, pops up, quit the Terminal app, restart, and open a Finder window, set it up the way you want, and click on Use as Defaults. All subsequently opened or created folders should retain that view. Do note that that only applies to icon and list view.

  • Selected ringtone reverts to default after sync

I have downloaded to my mac a couple of ringtones which I use for family members.  The ringtones for those family members (seen in Contacts) revert to the default ringtone (just a standard one available on the iPhone 6) every time I sync to my mac.  What am I doing wrong?

More from Randall39:  And let me also say -- I have the "sync tones" boxes checked on iTunes.  My point is that it reverts back despite having this box checked.  Surely this isn't what it is supposed to do.

  • Problems to open a application after reboot the server

    Hhi there
after some problems and rebooring the server, i cant open the appliaction anymore. i got the message "unable to connect to server"
I restarted the services allready and tried to figure out where is the problem in the log files etc. but without success.
the DB is working without problems. is it possible that the problem is in the firewall or ports? but then I'm wondering why it worked a few minutes before!
    thanks for help!

I don't recommend increasing this setting unless you know for sure that you are experiencing performance or significant latency issues between the HFM application server and the database server. This setting simply allows for a 2 minute timeout rather than a 60 second timeout when HFM is reading or writing to the database. You would be better off correcting the underlying database or connectivty issue. If this were your issue, you would see some messages in the HsvEventLog.log file regarding HFM's repeated but failed attempts to connect to the database server during a SQL statement.
Also, this setting can be controlled through the EPM Configurator or Web and Server Cofiguration utility as well as altered directly in the registry as you've shown.

  • Bluetooth fails to connect to mouse after reboot/sleep

My bluetooth mouse (an Arc Touch) fails to get connected when my MacBook Pro starts up or comes out of sleep mode.
So I reset the mouse and "pair" it again, removing the previous entry for it, and the mouse works again.
If I then power off and restart, it fails and shows up as "not connected".
Have to "pair" it again, every time.
This was working fine until I upgraded to OS X 10.2.2.
I've reset the SCM and PRAM with zero success.
    Any further things to try?

    Ok Rb621,
Follow the same procedure as you have done before. Exception - At the restart, boot into Safe Mode. You don't have to log in. Wait a while, have something else to do. During this time, OS X will clear some caches. Come back and restart normally and see what happened.
    Have fun

  • Problems with "Line-In sounds" after rebooting..

    Hi,
I have some problems with my TV card. When I press reset button or switch on my PC and wait, about 3-5 sec. ahead of enter to Windows XP SP1, I can hear PFFFFFFFFFF.... from my speakers. I hear it until I activate MSI radio or MSIPVS (programs using LINE IN input).....then is "Line IN sound" is OK. If I close all MSI applications..... Line IN is Silent - That's right!!
Please help me, what can I do ....
I tried old and newest drivers....but still PFFFFFF ....agrrrrhhh !!!!
I have 2 sound cards (and 1 on board) and problem is still identical.

The problem is related to the Crossbar driver
There was a solution posted befrore in this forum and that was to change the crossbar driver from MSI with one of from a leadtec xp2000

  • MBP contrast reset to default after reboot

I'm running mavericks on a late 2013 MBP 15 retina and now every time I turn it on I need to open accessibility and tick the bar so it sets the contrast to where I want it. It's not resetting the value, though.

  • Bluetooth reactivates to on, after reboot or start

On Lion, after rebooting or starting the computer, the Bluetooth interface always turns back to on, I will like to know if there is a way to turn it off, because I'm guessing that consumes more battery when ON, and I kind of forget to turn it OFF every time I turn on the computer.

Ok, problem solve, I found this, in case ever have the same problem:
Got escalated support on my Bluetooth issues. The fix worked.
This fix is for those who used the migration assistant and are having bluetooth weirdness.
    Go to:
    Macintosh HD->Library->Preferences
    drag (the old migrated files)
    com.apple.Bluetooth.plist and com.apple.Bluetooth.plist.lockfile
    to your Desktop,
    stop Bluetooth and logout.
    Login and restart Bluetooth.
You my need to delete any devices and re-pair. If eveything works then delete the files that you dragged to your Desktop.
My Air now works as it should.

  • Bluetooth mouse is not connected after reboot or bluez restart

I followed all possible guides to make my Apple MagicMouse. I saw on the forums that the key is to mark it as "trusted". I did it in bluetoothctl and put it to "trusts" file in /var/lib/bluetooth/xx:xx..../.
It works fine if I connect it manually but after restart I see only messages like this in bluetoothctl:
    [NEW] Device 84:38:35:24:08:D9 MagicMouse

Messages are printed when I click a mouse button. There is a small delay between "Connected: yes" and "Connected: no" and during this time I see a bluetooth sign in the notification area (I have Gnome).
Sometimes I see a paring request from the mouse. Sometimes authorisation request and if I go to the bluetooth settings it even propose to type a PIN code on the mouse )
Regardless my action after restart of bluez I am at the starting point.

I mentioned that, because this "solution" used to work for me on previous similar problems. After these steps the mouse used to autoconnect again after reboots and wakeups. Then after some weeks the problem appeared again.
Now this also doesnt work anymore. Now, everytime the mouse is disconnected, I have to push  connect-button on the mouse and then manually initiate the connect process from the notebook (KDE: bluetooth applet -> Mouse -> Connect). It is not enough to just turn on the mouse.
