Bluetooth question - skype

Hi,
I am new to bluetooth and to SKYPE. I have been using Skype with my macbook in speaker phone only mode. I am thinking of geting a headset for it so the sound quality is better. Will a bluetooth headset with with my macbook and connecting to skype?

Yes, I have seen plenty of BT headsets used with Skype - especially the Motorola ones.
BT is BT so it does not care what connects to it. That is the great think about BT.

  • Bluetooth and Skype

Has anyone found a combination of a version of skype and any bluetooth headset that works well with the MacBook Air. I have tried a motorola and the latest skype beta, I also have access to the Apple Bluetooth headset. So far in my testing it caused the Air to crash hard and I needed to power off.
    Thanks,
    George

Not exactly an answer to your question, but I just finished a call to the Philippines using the earbuds that came with the iPhone, and Skype. I've used the Apple BT headset with good effect when I had my Powerbook, and I found that the range wasn't that great anyway and most of the time the earbuds were more than sufficient. If you don't have a need to wander around the room within a radius of about five feet, you won't have a need to use the Bluetooth with Skype.

  • How on earth do I get this Bluetooth/laptop/Skype setup to work?

I have a 2007 Macbook Pro running Tiger.
I want to make Skype call to Germany using a Bluetooth headset. Scenario is that my horse trainer lives there and can give me a training session via Skype on his laptop if I wear a Bluetooth headset and have someone video me as I'm riding. He can see me ride, and I can hear his directions as I ride.
I have set up a WiFi antenna and router at the barn via a local service provider to stream the video to the trainer. Seems to be working alright after a few false starts. But I've tried various Bluetooth headsets and can't get one to work. They need to have sufficient range that I can ride around the whole arena - about 200 feet.
I have a Jawbone with various adapters as follows to increase the range:
    Cisco-Linksys USBBT100 Bluetooth USB Adapter
IOGEAR USB Adapter with Bluetooth Wireless Technology 2.0 Spec Class 1
The headset worked fine using internal Mac Bluetooth, but neither adapter worked.
Can anyone suggest either a headset with sufficient range (200') that eliminates the need for the adapter, or an adapter that is compatible with BOTH macbook and Bluetooth?
Or even a better way to do this thing altogether?
    Thanks!

I just got off the phone with iPod tech support for the exact same problem - EQ is "off" unable to turn it "on."
The tech & his supervisor had me "resetting" my iPod = didn't work.
Had me "restoring" my iPod = didn't work. Prior to restoring, I removed all the movies from my iPod I had taken (4) & placed them on the desktop.
I now have an appointment at my Apple Store for tomorrow. Will report the results here.
The supervisor did inform me that if the store is unable to "fix" the iPod, I will get a brand new one plus they will re-engrave it.
So glad I have Apple Care along with the regular warranty!

  • HDD & Bluetooth questions

Well Im getting a Macbook for school. Only thinks I dont like about it are the single button trackpad since I will be using Bootcamp and the small size and costs for upgrading the internal HDD. My first questions is.
What suggestions do you have for Bluetooth mice that dont spaz out at random times. (I dont know exactly how bluetooth works but how long do the batteries generally last and how do i recharge?)
Then my second questions is is it possible to not only partition the Mac internal HDD for Windows and Mac Os but also external HDDs? (Is firewire better or usb for univeral uses?)
    Thank you

You can recharge a rechargeable battery by putting it in a battery charger designed to operate on that type of battery, and plugging it in.
The instructions on this page can be used to partition an external drive so that it contains both Mac OS Extended and FAT32 or NTFS partitions. You should use a FireWire drive, or a model which has both FireWire and USB 2.0 ports.

  • Bluetooth and skype... match made in heaven?

Alright, I use a Nokia HS-26W Bluetooth Headset with my cell phone, and I'm generally pleased with it. I'm considering buying a Mac, in which case I will continue to use skype as I have for a while on my pc. When I migrate, will I be able to use the Nokia headset with the computer transparently... and consequently use skype with the headset? Thanks.

Your plan is pretty good.  The lightroom catalog needs to be on C:/ drive.
Import your photos into the library by Year/Month & Day.  Convert images to DNG on import.  Saves a lot of HDD space. See image below.
Create Collections to organize images rather than moving images around in their imported location. Using collections will not alter the images.
Zenfolio is a good choice also.

  • Bluetooth headset + Skype

    hello
my new Jabra Supreme UC bluetooth headset works fine on my iMac using Skype
only one thing; when I try to pick up an incomming Skype call with my headset answer button the call is rejected
Jabra support is telling me to update the bluetooth drivers to support HFP, HSP, A2DP, PBAP
    any clue how ?
    thx
    & regards Henny

    For anyone elses information:
The apple "iPhone Bluetooth Headset" is a nice piece of equipment. You can use it with most bluetooth compatible devices (including other cellphones).
However, not always will the headset button function as intended. In my experience, the headset is a little annoying because you have to click to answer your call from your mac. You can hear the ringing through the headset fine, but pressing the button does nothing within skype.
I've only just discovered this and am still looking for a resolution. I'd imagine there might be some fix with a skype plugin, but I've yet to find such a fix.

  • Your best recommend for a wireless headset/bluetooth for Skype

    Anyone found something that delivers?
    Thanks

The Motorola HT820 works great. It is one of my all-time best purchases. http://direct.motorola.com/ens/BTStereoHSWebProductHome.asp?country=USA&language=ENS
It works with my MB Pro, in Skype. It works with my iPod, using the iMuffs Bluetooth transceiver, from Wi-Gear. Naturally, it works with my Motorola phone. It also comes with a cable for use as a wired headset, so it works on the airplane, in place of the cheesy headphones that the airlines provide. That cable also allows you to use the headset as a wired headset for the Mac, while on the airplane. However, the cable option is only for headphones, so the mic does not work with the wired connection.
You start by setting up a new Bluetooth headset, from your Bluetooth preferences panel and add it to your favorites. You only have to do this once. Note: You do NOT have to select the HT820 as your system sound device. You only need to do that in Skype.
To use it in Skype, you make sure that the headset is off. Then, hold the power button (left side) down for about 8 seconds (till the blue light starts pulsing) to put it into "find-me" mode. Then, in the Skype preferences panel, select the HT820 for both the input and output. In a moment, you will be prompted for the security code. Type "0000" and hit "Return". You will hear a tone in the headset and the blue light stops pulsing. You are connected.
To save battery on the headset, it is a good idea to go back and select the default input and output, when you are through using the headset.
When you want to go back to using the HT820 on your cell phone, you will probably have to tell your cell phone to re-connect to the HT820. For me, this step requires only that the HT820 is turned on.
Motorola now makes a much smaller version of this headset, as well. I have seen it, but I have not tried it out. The model is MOTOROKR S9. I have seen it at the Cingular/AT&T store and at Radio Shack. As I understand, the only difference is that it uses "bud" style speakers on the headset, instead of over-the-ear speakers and the Bluetooth electronics and battery are integrated in the headband, behind the neck, instead of in the speaker housings.
I highly recommend the Motorola HT820. If you have an iPod with a dock connector, then I also recommend the iMuffs Bluetooth transceiver (MA110 - http://www.wi-gear.com/products/imuffs/ma110.php), to pair with the HT820, so you can go totally wireless. It is much smaller than the transceiver from Ten Technology. However, the Wi-Gear headset had problems and I had to return them.
    Good luck.

  • FORD TRANSIT CONNECT VAN bluetooth question

The Ford Transit van uses Nokia bluetooth . I have a question regarding connectivity .

    Hi JeffinMass
It's probably more which Nokia device you are trying to use with it that's the issue here. Unfortunately Nokia Bluetooth connectivity never seems as universal as say any Sony Ericsson device.

  • K7N2L Bluetooth question

    Hi
Ive have connected the D (bluetooth) bracket on my K7N2 L based system.
Can anyone tell me if I need to fit an antenna or does the transeiver on the D-Bracket perform this function?
I'm about to get an iPaq 5550 and want to connect to my PC via bluetooth and share my broadband connection for internet access.
Any tips or advice on how to set this up would be very welcome.
    Thanks

    Hello Wonkanoby
Thanks for the lightening fast reply!
I just have a few questions...
I presume that I can use any BT module or is it best to stick with the MSI kit.  Any recommendations?
I dont mean to state the obvious but I'm curious to know in what way the "dedicated" port differs from other USB ports.
    Thanks

  • Centro to Laptop Bluetooth Question

Recently purchased a Toshiba Bluetooth to allow my Centro to hotsync with my laptop.  Downloaded the latest Palm Centro software.  Palm Desktop ver 6.2.2 and hotsync ver 7.0.2    Still unable to establish connection?  Can anyone provide advice?
    Post relates to: Centro (Verizon)

Shift your attention to the Windows Hotsync section of this Forum, where you will find USB drivers available to sync with 64bit systems.
You can then sync normally with your Hotsync cable.

  • Bluetooth Question - Mouse AND Keyboard?

Hey guys. I just bought a new MacBook. It's pretty sweet, I must say.
But I have one question. If I bought a wireless keyboard and the wireless mighty mouse, would I be able to use both? Because they both use Bluetooth (I'm talking about the official Apple ones) and I want to know if I can use both or if I can use just one before making a purchase.
    Thanks in advance.

Personally, I prefer the Apple ones. I have two sets to use with my computers.
Some people like the logitech ones. I just prefer to use the official ones - even if they are a little bit more pricey, they always work and feel so good.

    Go through this.

Also take a note of this.
Important: if the device is not Skype Certified, it may not work with Skype. Buy an accessory that’s guaranteed to work seamlessly with Skype from the Skype shop.

  • Bluetooth question

I just bought a mac mini and now I am looking at bluetooth mouse and keyboard on ebay. Because the mini has built in bluetooth, does that mean that I do not need to buy the bluetooth adaptor? And all I will need is the bluetooth mouse and keyboard?

You do not need the Bluetooth adapter if your computer has a Bluetooth module built-in. The adapter enables Bluetooth devices to be used through a computer's USB port.

  • Bluetooth Question Please Help!

I just recently bought a blackberry 8110 and I love it!  The only thing i'm having trouble doing is transfering pics, ringtones, and/or contacts to my friends phones with bluetooth.  I am able to pair with with these phones and transfer the file, but once it gets to 100% the message pops up "Unsupported media" either on my phone if i'm recieving or on my friends phone if i'm sending.  What am I dong wrong??  My friends phones are: Moto RAZR, Nokia, Samsung Blackjack, Sony Ericson, LG, and a Chocolate.  If anyone can help me i'd really appreciate it^^  Thank you

I'm trying to transfer pics ive taken, contact info, and ringtones, just things like this.  I was able to do this without a problem with my past few phones. (I had RAZR prior to my blackberry)  There must be a few things I need to learn with a blackberry, I never had to worry about types of files or extensions before >< can you help me?

  • IPod touch 2nd gen Bluetooth question

I'm wondering if the iPod 2nd gen has Bluetooth. I'm getting mixed answers from unreliable sources, and I'm hoping for the straight poop.
If the 2nd gen doesn't, then what about the 3rd gen?
    Thanks.

Thanks for the article, roaminggnome. That confirmed my suspicions. For some reason, bluetooth is not listed as a wireless interface on the product specs... don't know what that's all about...
I was wondering this because I was going to need bluetooth headphones for my computer, and I couldn't warrant that kind of purchase unless I could use it with another device(s).
    Thanks for the help!!
