Bluetooth settings no longer accessible via Fn-F5 since WIndows 8.1 upgrade?

The title says it all!
Fn-F5 used to give me access to enable/disable all wireless connections, now Bluetooth is missing!
I can't find Bluetooth in the Control Panel either.  If I search "All Control Panel Items" for "bluetooth", it delivers 2 hits:
Devices and Printers
Network and Sharing Center
However, I couldn't find any links to or mention of Blutetooth settings in either of these places.
"Windows Help & Support" says to:
1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the bottom-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, then click Change PC settings.)
2.Tap or click PC and devices, and tap or click Bluetooth.
3.Make sure Bluetooth is turned on, then wait while Windows searches for Bluetooth enabled devices and shows the ones it finds.
4.Follow the instructions on your screen to finish pairing your device.
This works, but strikes me as painfully complicated in comparison with the time-honored Fn-F5.
I have installed the latest Lenovo Hotkey and Dependency Settings packages.
How can I get Bluetooth back in my Fn-F5 options?
X320T running Windows 8 Pro x64

My other hotkeys work. Fn-F5 works as well.  It brings up the Windows 8 "Networks" side panel. It's just that there is no longer a Bluetooth entry on the side panel.  I used to have one there under Windows 8.
The file TpFn5.exe (v1.0.0.51) is in the directory "C:\DRIVERS\HOTKEY\OSD\F5" on my system, but it is not being activated by Fn-F5.  If I run the compatibility troubleshooter on it, it says it is compatible with Windows 8, and if I then click  "Test the program", it brings up the lenovo connections control panel "Change power setting of wireless radio", which includes Bluetooth.
Is it really necessary (or even advisable) to reinstall drivers in compatibility mode?
Which component do you think is incompatible?
Is there some way to reconfigure Fn-F5 to activate this program instead of opening the Windows "Network" sidebar?

Beacuse it does not support the new software.  2nd gen can only go to 4.2.1

  • Backups no longer accessible via Time Machine UI

I bought a TC a couple of months ago and it worked flawless until last week. My TC still makes backups, but when I want to access a backup via Time Machine, it's no longer there. However when I browse through the sparsebundle on TC, I can still see all the old backups with their respective files.
All the backup data is still on the TC, but it's no longer easily accessible via Time Machine. Any ideas what I could do to make the backups visible again in Time Machine?

  • Songs on ipod in my iphone will no longer play in my car since 1.1.3 upgrad

THE RADIO IN MY TRUCK IS IPOD COMPATABLE, IT HAS AN AUDIO VIDEO CABLE THAT COMES OUT OF IT THAT I PLUG INTO MY IPHONE TO PLAY ALL OF THE MUSIC OFF OF MY IPHONE ON MY CAR STEREO. ALTHOUGH THE RADIO IS DESIGNED TO WORK WITH IPOD AND NOT IPHONE, IT HAS ALWAYS WORKED EVER SINCE I PURCHASED THE PHONE. NOW THAT I UPGRADED TO THE NEWEST VERSION FOR IPHONE (1.1.3), THE MUSIC WILL NOT PLAY ON MY RADIO ANYMORE. THE PLAY LIST STILL SHOWS UP ON MY RADIO, HOWEVER THERE IS NO SOUND. MY PHONE NOW DISPLAYS A MESSAGE SAYING THAT IT IS ATTACHED TO A DEVICE THAT IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH IPHONE. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO MAKE THIS CURRENT SOFTWARE VERSION PLAY MUSIC ON MY CAR RADIO? OR WILL THERE BE A SOFTWARE UPGRADE IN THE NEAR FUTURE THAT WILL REMEDY THIS PROBLEM? I DONT THINK THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO HAVE AN IPOD AND AND IPHONE IF THERE IS ALREADY AN IPOD IN MY IPHONE. PLEASE HELP.

  • My iPhone 5 will no longer connect via bluetooth to Fitbit Flex or wireless headset

My iPhone 5 will no longer connect via bluetooth to my Fitbit Flex aftering updating to ios 7.  Apple phone support had me completely erase and set my phone up again as new to restart bluetooth pairing, then restore again through iCloud.  Worked last night but same problem today.  It also will no longer connect to my wireless headset in my car.  Of course I'm now 5 days over my 1 year warranty as well.  Any ideas?

Delete the pairing from both devices then pair them again.

  • Hidden Bluetooth settings in 10.9 for serial

The new OS 10.9 Maverick hides the Bluetooth settings, I am no longer able to add new serial ports for my Bluetooth devices in order to connect to them via the screen command (screen /dev/tty.Bluetooth...).
I'm interfacing my phone with my computer and need a serial port to communication, this needs to be set up in the Bluetooth settings. As of the new OS it has been dumbed-down so much that these settings do not exist anymore. Funny thing is when you search for "serial" in the system preferences window it will only highlight the Bluetooth settings:
Please give back these settings, I'm no longer able to work with my computer because of this.

I'm hoping the original poster has found some way to remedy this situation since this is an old topic. I do wonder how far you are all getting into the process, from what I can tell once you pair a device & connect to it you get new entries under /dev. One for a tty and one for a call up device (cu…). You may have others depending on the device capabilities.
    ls /dev
         /dev/cu.DeviceName-SerialPort
         /dev/tty.DeviceName-SerialPort
Are they not the connections you are looking for? I'm not sure that you need to see the serial ports in the GUI to be able to use them via Terminal.
Please tell me what I'm missing.

  • MacBook won't wake up from sleep and Bluetooth Settings (Possible fix)

    Hi,
I rest my SMC as per the instructions. I've done this a few times before and it my system sleeps one time correctly then glitches as previously noted. However, this time I did not use any Bluetooth device but I was connected to the internet via my wireless router. The computer has successfully entered 'sleep' and woke up several times without a glitch (white light flashing in front during sleep).
I the tried various Bluetooth settings starting with switching ALL the choices listed under the Bluetooth Advanced tab to off. I then switched on my Bluetooth mouse, used it for a while then I switched off the mouse (Microsoft Notebook Mouse 5000) and waited for the laptop to give the 'lost connection' notice. Once the notice disappeared I close the lid and the system entered sleep again (white light flashing in front) and woke without a hitch.
Next I restored the default Bluetooth Advanced tab settings including the ‘Allow Bluetooth device to wake system’, reconnected the Bluetooth mouse and used it for a while before closing the lid and placing the computer in sleep mode. I left the mouse on. Something very interesting happened…….the system properly entered sleep mode with the front white light flashing, I then intentionally moved the Bluetooth mouse and the system tried to wake with the lid closed. I saw the Apple logo light up briefly then shut off AND I also heard the Superdrive mechanism respond. The white light in the front of the system stopped flashing and just stayed on. The system would not wake. I had to hold the power button down till the white sleep indicator light shut off the boot the system back up. It is important to note that I DID NOT reset the SMC.
Once the system rebooted I made one change to the Bluetooth Advanced tab settings, Specifically, I switched off the ‘Allow Bluetooth device to wake system’. I used reconnected my Bluetooth mouse by turning it on. Used it for a while then closed the lid. The system entered sleep again (white light flashing in front) and woke without a hitch. The sleep mode works equally well now if I close the lid or select sleep from the menu.
I realize this may not help everyone but it has aleviated this problem, at least for the present on my system. I hope this helps some folks as well as the Apple techs.

    Hi,
Just an update, it has now been one week since I modified my Bluetooth setting as per my post above. The computer is still going to sleep and waking without problems.

I am using the apsona import tool in both my zen and open carts. After upgrading firefox, the referenced import tool is no longer accessible although I can log into zen-cart and open-cart. The toolbar is accessible in zen but when I click the button to open the apsona tool a new tab opens but does not load the tool. In open-cart, I can log in but the admin toolbar is missing. Important! This only happens on this computer.

Intel iMac; upgraded adobe flash; bluetooth keyboard no longer pairs but magic mouse still OK. With Bluetooth switched on the screen splits into 4 areas and open windows seperate and shrink. Switch off Bluetooth and problem disappears and iMac works OK with plug-in keyboard and mouse

    Hi, Derek -
...the screen splits into 4 areas and open windows seperate and shrink.
Sounds like Spaces is being activated somehow. With the wired keyboard and mouse in use, select the Exposé & Spaces control pane in System Preferences, click the choice in that pane for Spaces. See what the settings are. There are some activation settings in that pane - by default, F8 activates it.
It could be that the bluetooth keyboard has some stuck keys and is activating Spaces; or that the activation command has somehow been reset to something that the bluetooth mouse, or bluetooth itself, is triggering.

  • Bluetooth keyboard no longer discoverable after 10.4.4

    Hi--
My Apple Wireless Keyboard had been working fine with my PowerBook. I've had Bluetooth 1.5 Update for Mac OS X Bluetooth Firmware Updater 1.2 installed for awhile and I've installed new batteries within the last several weeks.
However, roughly two weeks ago (I'm pretty sure before I upgraded to 10.4.5) any input from the keyboard was not recognized.
The green light is visible on the back of the keyboard. When I attempt to set up a new Bluetooth device one of two things happen:
    * the dialog box claims my keyboard isn't discoverable
    * it takes a long while for the keyboard to be discovered; then, when I try to type in the string to validate, the system doesn't recognize any input.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.
    --SET
    PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.5)

    You're quite welcome, --SET —
Now if only one of these ideas actually helps!   OK, I've a few more ideas to share...
    (1) Not to belabor (polarize?) the batteries thing, but I've participated in a number of exchanges here where it turned out that someone's problem was due to a surprising sensitivity to slightly low voltage. Some have even given up using a particular brand of alkalines. (I didn't quite "buy it" — so I don't remember which. Keep this idea in your toolbox, anyway.) Goofy though it seems, I've had success once or twice by replacing batteries that I didn't believe were spent.
    (2) I don't recall whether you've mentioned a Bluetooth mouse or any other BT devices...? If not — it's entirely possible that it's the internal module. This isn't usually an issue with desktops, but laptops are much more susceptible to a bump in the night... There's really no way for you to troubleshoot this yourself that I know of — but AppleCare or an Apple-authorized service provider (AASP) may have suggestions.
    (3) Have you done a ~careful review of potential sources of 2.4 GHz interference adjacent to / near your keyboard? I can provide some detailed references if you'd like — but Article 58543 or this thread may be descriptive enough.
    (4) Some triple-checking, just to be perfectly clear: "Discoverable" is selected (and not dimmed-out) in Preferences »» Bluetooth »» Settings? and after you type in the authentication number you hit <return>? Have you looked at the data provided in System Profiler »» Hardware »» Bluetooth to confirm it's all consistent with what you expect? (If the PB is old enough for this to be relevant) you did install the Wireless Keyboard/Mouse Firmware Update 1.1 before installing Tiger?
    (5) How old is your PowerBook G4? Do you have an active protection plan? This gives a hint to my reply to your final question. The problems I mentioned occurred ~6 weeks after I purchased my eMac with CTO Bluetooth and wireless mouse & keyboard last May. I tried everything I'd read, then called AppleCare tech. support and worked through something like the checklist I cited. Both my BT mouse & keyboard seemed awry. Nothing we tried worked, so they gave me a case number, and I called then took in the eMac and BT devices to my friendly independent AASP. They ordered a new keyboard and everything was fine. The tech. thought it was a connection/voltage issue inside the keyboard.
    HTH!

  • Bluetooth mouse no longer works

My Microsoft Bluetooth 5000 mouse no longer works after install of the latest 10.6.4 update
any reason this could be? (Also forgive the use of a microsoft mouse haha)

I had the same issue since the latest OSX upgrade. Bluetooth mouse 5000 just stopped working and couldnt be set up again.
I installed the latest Intellipoint 8 drivers from microsoft.
    google microsoftmouse_d279.dmg and run it.
    reboot the mac after installing.
going through the usual mouse setup in system preferences still gives you the same error so forget that. Instead, go to Bluetooth settings and add new device manually. finds the mouse and connects.
    hope this helps.
BTW.. BT mouse 5000 is the best mouse i own and i have many!!! was devastated when it stopped working. Happy to be using it now again...
