  • Find my iPhone can turned off without password !!!!!!

Im shocking when knowing and it's really fact when I found that Find my iPhone can be disabled easily without need to use my password!!!!
This is big mistake required to solve

It requires physical access to your iPhone and that you have no screenlock passcode on it, and that you don't have Account Changes locked out in the Restrictions. Set either and you have no worries other than if someone restores the iPhone which removes it from Find My iPhone (though not the Activation Lock). Apple has also reportedly fixed this issue in the upcoming iOS 7.1 release. So this is not something to get your knickers in a twist over.
    Regards.

  • How do I completely disable Bluetooth Sharing without disabling bluetooth completely on Mac OS 10.7.2?

I'm trying to secure my Mac Pro that is running 10.7.2 and the only thing left that I cannot get figured out is how to completely disable Bluetooth Sharing without turning off Bluetooth altogether.  Initially I thought that it was blocked in System Preferences -> Sharing unless you had an admin password, but it's the only option that is available no matter if the user is standard or admin.  Is there any way to completely disable this box from toggling on or off?

Hi Adam, I see there are no replies to ur question. I have the same problem. I can turn bluetooth sharing on or off without my admin password. Please reply if you have found a solution. thank you!

  • My Mac got hacked. I was working on a word document when the computer suddenly started typing meaningful sentences on its own that describes how the hacker is skillful. At the that time I was on a password protected wifi and file sharing was off.

This is the first time I get hacked this bad. I was working on a microsoft word document when the computer suddenly started typing meaningful sentences on its own that describes how skillfull the hacker is. At the that time I was on a friends wifi network that is password protected (not sure about the encyrption), the Os X Firewall was on. I was using the admin profile, however, file sharing was off. I'm very careful not to install any suspecious 3rd party software.
So far I have verified permissions and fixed some errors there, and changed passwords.
Do I have to erase/format my computer and reinstall the Os? If so is it adequte to use the internet recovery tool or will it use old and possibly infected EFI/Root files?
Would appreciate the advice of all the Mac experts out there. Thanks

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}' | open -ef
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. If the command produced no output, the window will be empty. Post the contents of the TextEdit window (not the Terminal window), if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. You can then close the TextEdit window. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that. No typing is involved in this step.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    { sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix\.cron)|org\.(amav|apac|cups|isc|ntp|postf|x)/{print $3}'; echo; sudo launchctl getenv DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES; echo; sudo defaults read com.apple.loginwindow LoginHook; echo; sudo crontab -l; } 2> /dev/null | open -ef
This time you'll be prompted for your login password, which you do have to type. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type it carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Heed that warning, but don't post it. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    { launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'; echo; launchctl getenv DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES; echo; crontab -l 2> /dev/null; } | open -ef
    Step 4
    ls -A /e*/{cr,la,mach}* {,/}Lib*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts .la* 2> /dev/null | open -ef
Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of login items' | open -ef
Remember, steps 1-5 are all copy-and-paste — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • In system information Bluetooth is Discoverable:Off. AirDrop problems

Hi. I wanted to send a video from iphone to my mac by using airdrop. But my iphone dose not show my mac, meanwhile my mac is showing iphone in finder->AirDrop. I got late 2012 macbook pro and iphone 5s Both devices are updated to newest os. Both devices are set to "allow me to be discovered by everyone". I read a lot of articles about how to fix this issue but none of them helped me. So it think i found out where is the problem. In system information->bluetooth Discoverable: is set to Off. How do i turn Discoverablety back ON? I think this may solve my issue. If you think i am wrong, Hope fore another solution.

    Reinis,
In order for System Information to read "On" in Bluetooth Discoverable you need to turn on the Bluetooth Sharing under the Bluetooth Preference Pane.  However, this did not resolve my issue with my iPhone Airdropping to my Mac.  My Mac has no problem AirDropping to my iPhone.  Good Luck!
    I'm on a 15 Macbook Pro Retina: early 2013 using iPhone 6.

  • Security issue? sharing & BTMM off, yet I can share files

I'm on a G5. Back to my Mac is off. All sharing is off (nothing checked) in system prefs. Yet I noticed that my Macbook (which is two floors up) is showing up in my sidebar. I figured it was just the icon, and I wouldn't be able to connect--yet I was able to browse the Macbook, and right now I'm transferring files.
Am I missing something? If sharing and BTMM are both off, how can I connect to my Macbook?
    My modem/router is a 2Wire 2700hg, connected to the G5 via Ethernet.

I read something about how logging out of .mac doesn't always log out completely... some BTTM features remain activated, creating a security hole. For this reason, I only log into my .mac account from user accounts dedicated created specifically for me, never from someone else's user account. The Guest account might work too since in theory it gets wiped as soon as you log out.
Separately, I have seen advice from Apple saying that if you want to really log out of .mac, you should pretend to log back in using some random characters in the username and password. This resets some kind of cache and ensures that your username is truly logged out.
Try it out and see if the file sharing access persists.

  • Can someone hack into my MacBook Pro even it's not connected to the internet and both Wi-fi and Bluetooth services are off?

    Hi,
Need to know if someone can hack into my MacBook Pro even if it's not connected to the internet and both Wi-fi and Bluetooth services are off? Can someone enter my system even if the settings at System Preferences > Sharing are all off?

    Yes,
Through Bonjour, Apple's open source zero configuration networking.
    https://developer.apple.com/bonjour/
    http://flylib.com/books/en/2.434.1.105/1/
And you can't turn it off or your computer won't work, however saving grace is the hacker has to be pretty close to your machine to do it.

  • How to share the Mac folder to open windows without password?

como compartilhar pasta do mac para abrir no windows sem senha?
how to share the Mac folder to open windows without password?

No easy way. Unless you use the same username and the same password on both system then you have to enable Windows File Sharing (SMB) in Sharing, add your Mac username and type in your password in the options of Sharing and then set a NetBIOS name and a workgroup name that is the same on both Windows and Mac. That is in the Network section under advanced WINS tab.

  • How to turn off login password at boot up?

how to turn off login password at boot up?
currently, i just want the computer to boot up without typing in a password

I am having the same issue, however, when I go to system preferences and then Accounts, Login Options is grayed out.
    A little background:
Several macs are networked (with out a server) and scheduled to startup at 6:45 for a Retrospect back-up script to start at 7am. Retrospect runs through the computer that won't automatically login at startup (the system pref. Option is grayed out as described above)
I am running 10.4.11 and so are all the other computers.

  • Mac mini turns off without any reason

My Mac mini turns off without any reason. I just want to make a backup with time machine and after a while the computer doesn´t work anymore. I just see the start-screen with all the users and I had to sign with my user password. After the mac restarts, I had to start time machine again. I stopped energy-management, because I thought that might be the problem but not. Time machine should work the whole night, but I don´t want to sit the whole time next to the mac to wake him up every several minutes. What can I do?

    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy
If there's a closed padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preference pane, click it and enter your login password when prompted.
Click the Advanced button and, in the sheet that opens, uncheck the box marked
Log out after … minutes of inactivity

  • How can I disconnect from iCloud without password.

    Hi,
I have lost my Apple ID password, So I have lost my iCloud password too. I am unable to login on iCloud service. I was unable to Off option "Find my iPhone"
I tried everything but nothing is happen, i cant logout from iCloud, The mail ID which registered with apple that is also blocked. So nothing is option balance, then I reset device to Factory Restore option. But now again iPhone is asking the same icloud account and password. Now this iPhone is useless.
Actually one of my colleague bought this iPhone 4 from second hand market one year back, he took the same apple ID what seller has given him and he is using it since 1 year, Now that guy may change his password and this guy is unable to use appstore. To put new ID we need to log out from old ID and to log out from old ID phone is asking password, so there is the problem started.
Can anyone help me to log out from iCloud without password, please...
    Thanks
    Pramod

From what you say the phone has been 'Activation Locked' by a previous owner - who presumably either sold it to the second-hand market or had it stolen and it landed up there.
If this is the case, only the person who set the lock can unlock it. If you can't get hold of them to do this then the phone is permanently unusable.
Even if you had set up a new Apple ID and logged into that the Activation Lock would have kicked in when you reset or updated the phone.

  • What is Bluetooth Sharing (Privacy setting) good for?

I hope the title of this thread sums it up already... I'm intrigued by it... has anyone have a clue what this could entail (or enable)?

Some apps share data over bluetooth, you can control which apps have the ability to share over bluetooth from there. You won't see apps listed, if there aren't any apps that are sharing data over bluetooth.
From the iPhone User Guide (For iOS 6 Software)
Turn off access to private information: Go to Settings > Privacy. You can see which apps have requested and been granted access to the following information:
    Contacts
    Calendar
    Reminders
    Photos
    Bluetooth Sharing
    Twitter
Facebook You can turn off each app’s access to each category of information. Review the terms and privacy policy for each third-party app to understand how it uses the data it’s requesting.

  • Encryption without password

I need to be able to back up my phone but cannot turn off encryption without password. I do not care about previous backups but would like to backup now and in the future. Itunes will not let me turn off encryption. HELP!

If you have a corporate Exchange account set up on the phone, the administrators can enforce encrypted backups via policies on the server. If that's the case, you won't be able to turn it off unless you delete the account. Do not add it back, or the policy will be pushed down again.
