Bluetooth smart

Hi, I read today that the iPhone 4S has a new app and it's called "bluetooth smart". It will inform you about new incoming mails, phones and some things more. I'm especially interessted in getting more information about the point "checking the blood sugar level" because I'm a diabetic and it would be great if I don't have to ***** seven times a day to check my blood sugar level.
I know it needs a chip that the information can be sent to the iPhone. But is it still available? Does it really work? Where do I get more information? I hope somebody has more information for me? Thanks a lot.

Hey there, Nadin77.  Not sure if such an app exists, but the iPhone 4S is equipped with Bluetooth 4.0, a relatively new low energy protocol, which has recently been named "Bluetooth Smart" by the Bluetooth SIG.  By adding this technology to their iPhone, Apple really has ushered in a new spectrum of interesing new connectivity possibilities, many of them health care and fitness-relates, since low energy (or Bluetooth Smart) technology seems to be easily adapted to sensor technology.
I did a quick look to see what's on the horizon for glucose diagnosics for the iPhone, and found this...

  • Mac Mini can't identify BlueTooth smart devices

I have a Kurt Kinetic InRide Watt meter and corresponding Heart Rate Monitor (Wahoo Fitness TICKR) that our Late 2014 Mac Mini (2.6 ghz i5 OS X 10.10.2) can't identify.   The devices pair fine with my iPhone 5s and iPad Air 2 so I'm sure it doesn't have to do with the devices.   But when I turn off the bluetooth for these other Apple Products and open Bluetooth preferences on the Mac Mini, the computer can't find the bluetooth smart devices.

    Reading this
    https://kurtkinetic.com/products/kinetic-inride-pod/

The system uses the new Bluetooth Smart™ communication protocol found in Apple devices including the: iPhone 4s and 5-series and 6 and the iPad 3, 4 and Mini and iPod Touch 5th generation to wirelessly pair a heart rate monitor and power sensor pod with the new Kinetic inRide iPhone App* to measure power with any Kinetic fluid trainer. It appears to not be compatible with computers.

  • Is Apple TV Bluetooth Smart compatible?

I am having a problem pairing newest Apple TV with any Bluetooth Smart keyboard.  If anyone manages to pair with BT Smart keyboard, may I have the model number of the keyboard?

I understand on keyboard support only.  Is your HP keyboard BT Low Energy or regular Bluetooth?  You can use the BTLE sniffer by LightBlue on iPhone to check.  So far I have no luck connecting BT Low Energy keyboard with Apple TV.  If anybody knows a keyboard using BTLE that works, please let me know.  I would like to get one.

  • Bluetooth Smart Dongle no longer working in Mavericks.

I've been using the IOGear Bluetooth 4.0 Dongle on my late '08 MBP for quite some time.  After upgrading to Mavericks, it was no longer being recognized, and worse, when I unplug it my system crashes and reboots "sleep/wake failure".  I tried cycling the computer on and off with and without bluetooth enabled.  I wiped the HD and did a fresh install of mavericks, I deleted the .kext and replaced it, then tried an older version of the Bluetooth .kext file - no dice!
    Any ideas?

Do you know how to downgrade back to 10.8.5 without a time machine backup?
That's a tough thing to do.  You could make a "clone" of the existing contents of your Mac, boot from the clone, erase your internal drive, download 10.8.5, then install it on the internal drive.  Once you've booted from the newly-installed 10.8.5, then use Setup Assistant to pull your user account from the clone.
Mail is likely to give you the biggest problem, as there were changes to the way Mail organizes its files.  To work around this, I'd export any local mailboxes while running 10.9.  Once you have a working 10.8.5 system, delete all your Mail accounts, add them again, then import the local mailboxes from the exported data.

  • IPhone 5 Bluetooth Smart - Fitness apps disconnect sensor automatically

I am using ALATECH cycling speed and cadence sensor, similar to Wahoo, Runtastic product.
For many times that I have tested with several app, ie runtastic, mapmyride, strava, to name a few, the sensor will be disconnected after a while, say probably a 6KM ride.
Can't say is the sensor problem, because after restarted the iPhone 5, the sensor connect back again.
Can't say the apps either because it happens to all the apps I am testing.
So I guess it must be the iPhone 5. Anyone has s

If the sensor keeps disconnecting, it could well be a sensor problem. I've used a Wahoo sensor, Polar sensor, Pear sensor with my iPhone 5 and 5S with no problems. I'd start by contacting the manufacturer of the device or seeing if they have any support forums.
    Best of luck.

  • Mac Mini - Bluetooth Mouse Lag / Sticking

So I wanted to cut the cord and say goodbye to Time Warner. I bought a slingbox and set it up at my parents place.
In my apartment, I got a Mac Mini to hook up via HDMI to a 42 inch TV and a 24 inch monitor to hook up via thunderbolt and VGA.
I have a bluetooth keyboard, which works fine.
Where I am really getting screwed is in the mouse category. I have a fancy mac bluetooth smart mouse and a cheap Amazon Basics wireless mouse that works with a USB dongle.
Lets say I turn the computer on and fire up Slingbox and have that playing on the TV. On the 24 inch monitor I am doing some work. What ends up happening is there ends up being a lag with the mouse.
I was thinking maybe this had something to do with the Mac Mini being weighed down by having to power two big monitors?
Any suggestions to get this mouse issue sorted out?

So if I plug a wired device in and we never have any issues with the mouse, we can assume something is wrong with a) bluetooth or b) the wireless signal being sent via the USB dongle to the mouse.
Then I can use one at a time and see if either one works?
I will give a whirl tonight!

  • SBH52 and Smart Connect problems

Hi everyone, I just found some problems with my new Z2 and SBH52
    - Sometimes SBH52 connected, Walkman started, tracks played, but there's no sound.
    - After turning off SBH52, the notification "SBH52 disconnected" can't be cleared from Notifications panel (turning Bluetooth off will clear it)
    - Smart Connect can not turn off Bluetooth automatically with events End Action: Turn off Bluetooth
    - Smart Connect adjust wrong Volume settings (I set Music: 2, Ring: 4, Alarm: 4 but Smart Connect keeps setting it to Music :1, Ring :3, Alarm: 3)

I connected SHB52 with my xperia Z3 tablet compact compact.
I also have the similar problems as RoWe.
In addition, when I touch any button on screen (such as back, home, links in browser including notification bar), the music function of SBH52 will switch between play/pause instantly all the time. If I didn't notice that it is showing ▶ on music function screen, the SBH52 will be disconnected from my Z3TC. The notification bar is still remain connected but it didn't! I have to turn off Bluetooth and off the SBH52 then then on both to be able to use it again every time.
Please help! This is very big issue for me.

  • My iPad is not showing the bluetooth symbol.  I am trying to connect to Livescribe3 pen but the app is saying the iPad is not Bluetooth ready.

Have just purchased Livescribe3 connected to iPhone no problems.   However the livescribe App on the iPad says that my device (the iPad) is not Bluetooth smart ready.  I note that the bluetooth symbol is not showing on the app.
The screen for the bluetooth on the iPad shows that it is on and attempting to discover devices however the pen doesn't show there either.

Try resetting it by holding the power and home keys down until the Apple logo appears.

  • Importing smart card certificates

Has anyone run into any issues similar, where you cannot import the smart card certificates into the BlackBerry?
Users have T-Mobile 8700g and the RIM Bluetooth smart card reader.
We are able to pair the BB and the Reader.
But we are stuck at the point where we import the user's smart card certificates.  This is affecting multiple users.  Users who have already imported their smart card certificates are working fine.
The error displayed on the BlackBerry is "Error communicating with the smart card".
The display on the reader is either "On C" (v1.0 reader drivers/software) or "On I" (v1.5.1 reader drivers/software).
We have tried wiping both the handheld and the reader and starting from scratch.  S/MIME and reader drivers are installed on the BlackBerry.
We have tried using OS 4.1 and 4.2 on the 8700s.  As well as reader drivers/software v1.0 and 1.5.1.
We have tested using different IT Policies, including completely unrestricted.
Not sure if this problem is specific to this model.

There's a new CAC version out. (144k).  Does anyone knows if there is a hotfix for the new version?  We are having problems getting the reader to recognize the new CAC.    When we try to sign a message on the blackberry, we keep getting the error message "Error Communicating with the Smart Card".  We searched on Google and we found this hotfix and installed. It didn't work. I assume it was for CAC 72k and not 144k.
    Below is what we're running
    Device:  Blackberry Bold 9000
    Applications:
     Blackberry v4.6
     Blackberry Smart Card Reader v4.2
Any assistance will be appreciated.  Thank you.

  • Bluetooth 4.0 - When Will BLE - Blue Tooth Low Energy Be Supported?

    Hello,
I recently acquired at W530 - has the BlueTooth radio from Broadcom - I thought 4.0 supported BLE and all of the 'smart' features.
I am actrually developing a product for BLE and one of the reasons I picked up this laptop was for the 4.0 Radio - can anyone tell me when Broadcom/Lenovo will have the Bluetooth SMART Apps (BlueTooth Low Energy or BLE) enabled for this laptop?
I actually had to go out and buy the Nano Dongle for me an my co-workers from SMKLINK (CSR Radio) in order not to impede progress on this project - a little embarassing for Lenovo I think.
If BLE is enabled - please let me know how to configure it.
If not - and I think the answer is not - when will Lenovo get this enabled - something that the W530 should ship with IMHO.
THANKS IN ADVANCE!   (I STILL  MY THINKPAD!)

    Hello Lenovo,
Blue Tooth Low Energy Driver.  The Broadcom radio that you shipped supports it.
You do not have a driver that supports it.
    Why?

  • HP Bluetooth Mouse Z8000 Will Not Pair with HP EliteBook 840 G1

I have an HP EliteBook 840 G1 running Windows 7 64-bit.  I recently purchased the HP Bluetooth Mouse Z8000.  I cannot pair the mouse with my PC.  The mouse is working properly, I can pair it with my iMac with no issues.   The HP EliteBook's Bluetooth radio is working properly, I am amble to pair my Apple Magic Mouse, Bose Speaker, iPhone, printer, etc. with no issues. The HP EliteBook does not even detect the Z8000 mouse.  The iMac detects it immediately.  What am I doing wrong?  Is there a driver to download?  The mouse says Bluetooth Smart on the box, which I understand in Bluetooth 4.0.  According the HP's documentation, my EliteBook has Bluetooth 4.0?  How can I confirm this?

  • Does Firefox OS support Bluetooth 4.1?

Firefox OS devices currently on sale only come with Bluetooth 2.1 or 3.0, but I was wondering if Firefox OS supports version 4.1?
Will Firefox OS plan on supporting any of the new Bluetooth protocols in the future?
    Bluetooth Smart, Low Energy, BLE

    Hi dleggo,
It will be longer than that until version 2.2 is available on commercial devices available for purchase in stores. After the Code Complete date, our partners spend time doing certification and optimizing for specific devices, before it's launched on commercial devices.
However, it's possible to compile and flash the code onto rooted devices, if you are technically savvy. The Flame Reference device is the best one for this, since it's the same one used by developers at Mozilla.
