Bluetooth sync of selected address-books

Hi there,
I have different Address-Books. One with my office contacs and another one with my private mail account contacts and a third one with other important contacts which are stored on my SIM-Card. So now i want to have just the third one (SIM contacts) synced to my car.
Is that possible and how?
Thank you very much!

I think that it will be dependent on the car's bluetooth functionality, but you can try this:
Push and hold a contact that you want to share in the contact app, select 'Select More' from the pop up menu on the right, then chose the other contacts you want to share. Then click the "share" button on the menu on the right (looks like a V with blobs on the ends) and chose "Bluetooth".. then select the bluetooth device (your car.)
Whether or not your car can receive these is dependent on the Vehicle's Bluetooth capabiliites I would imagine.

  • Syncing "unsupported" Kyocera bluetooth phone to Apple Address Book

I just had to replace my cellphone. I was psyched b/c the phone I bought was bluetooth, only to find out that it is not one of the phones listed as "supported" on the apple isync webpage. Anyone know of any third party apps or other workarounds that can bluetooth sync a kyocera phone?

A phone having bluetooth is not the only requirement
for syncing via Bluetooth. Bluetooth is just the data
transport method, like a cable or Infra-red.
The phone also needs to support some kind of syncing
technology (software) that allows it to 'talk' to the
Mac. Usually this is the industry standard SyncML
    protocol.
If your phone supports receiving vCards via
Bluetooth, you may be able to send your contacts by
selecting them in the Mac Address Book, and choosing
"Send these cards" from the Card menu.
    This is not syncing though...
You're right, Julian. It's not syncing, but it did get my desired contacts to my phone, so thanks a lot!

  • How can I bluetooth sync without using iCal

Hi, I have a Macbook Pro with Bluetooth, and a Palm Tungsten e2. I would really like to sync using bluetooth, but after I followed all the advice on the Mac support page (which configured my iSync), to my dismay I discovered I was syncing with iCal, not my Palm desktop. For several reasons I prefer Palm desktop to to iCal, so my question is:
Can I do a bluetooth sync, from my Palm to my Mac, and have it work with Palm desktop, rather than iCal and it's associated Address book?
BTW, I found all my disabled conduits and returned them to my original Palm folder, and I switched my prefs back to good ol' USB, and everything seems back to normal.
One day iCal might impress me enough to switch over, but I haven't seen the magic yet.
    thanks, Shereen

Certainly. I presume that you are synchronizing now via USB to the Palm Desktop?
As long as you have already paired your organizer with your computer, you are ready to initiate Bluetooth synchronization, though you might want to double check the settings in the HotSync Manager on both the organizer and the computer to insure that the proper software 'mechanism' is enabled.
Be sure that the iSync Palm Conduit—which appears in the HotSync Manager as iSync Conduit and in the Finder as simply Apple—is not active.

  • Entourage Sync with iCal & Address Book - Fixed!

Finally found a solution that really works.
    Background
I had the infamous issue of trying to get Entourage Calendar and Contacts to Sync with iCal & Address book for the purpose of syncing with iTunes on my iPhone.
I've had most of the symptoms listed on this site.
It only syncs one way, Entourage Calendar shows up in iCal, but it's blank, Entourage Calendar does not show up at all in iCal, but contacts show up in Address book.
I've read nearly every post about it and tried all the various fixes listed, but none of them worked, or at least not consistently.
    My setup:
OS X 10.5.5 MacBook Pro (latest updates)
    Entourage 2004 (latest patches)
(If your using Mobile me, log out before you do this)
Here's what you'll need to do:
    1. Backup your Main Identity which contains all your entourage info, email, contacts, calendars, etc. (Just in case you goof something up)
It's located in your home user account ~User/youraccount/documents/Microsoft User Data (Backup this whole folder)
If you don't know all your email credentials such as username, password, smtp, pop info, jott it down as it will save you some time later.
    2. Launch Entourage and uncheck the Sync Services. Quit Entourage and all Office Apps.
Also you should archive all your entourage data if you want to copy it to the new setup.
Archive the contacts and Calendar Events separately.
    3. Launch iCal and manually delete the Entourage Calendar (if present) Quit iCal.
    4. Now open your documents folder and locate the folder named Microsoft User Data and rename the folder to Microsoft User Data Original
    5. Create a new OS X User from the System Preferences... Accounts
    6. Logoff your current user account and login to your new user account.
    7. Launch Entourage and enter your email info.
    8. Now create a single calendar event.
    9. Go to Entourage Preferences, and check the Sync Services. (click OK, etc.)
    10. Wait 5 minutes, then launch iCal and you will see the Entourage Calendar with your single event.
You should also see your contact that was created when you setup email in the Address Book.
If this worked you've isolated the syncing problem to a corrupt file in your user account or corrupt data in your entourage account.
You can go back to your original user account and delete all the info from entourage to see if you had corrupt data in entourage, (youd did back it up first, right?) or you can follow the procedures below to move all your stuff over to the new login account.
Now you'll need to migrate your data from your Old login account to your new login account.
(I've tried just moving the new Entourage identity back to the old account, and it didn't always work)
The easiest way to move data between accounts is to login as root.
To enable the root user, Go to Utilities, Directory Utility, and under the edit menu, select enable root user, enter a unique password, later you can disable root login when your all done)
Logout of your new login and login as root with the new password you just created
When it prompts for a username type "root". If you don't have that option click the Other login and then type in root as the username and the new password.
Once your logged in as root, be careful as you can pretty much trash anything without any warnings.
Now Open your original user folder located in ~User/youraccount as well as the new user you just created
    (not the root account)
Open the folders side by side and drag the contents from old to new:
    Desktop
    Documents
    iTunes
    Movies
    Music
plus any other info you need.
Log back into your new user account, and run a repair permissions from disk utility.
Launch Entourage and enter a new event and contact. Then wait a few minutes and verify that it made it over to iCal & Address book.
If it did, and it should have, you can then import your entourage archives, do contacts first, then wait a few minutes and verify it shows up in Address Book, then do your Calendar events and verify.
When everything is syncing between entourage and iCal/Address Book you can connect your iPhone and enable syncing.
    A few important notes:
-If you have Years worth of Calendar Items in entourage, you will most likely run into problems, so archive your old Events and only restore that which you need.
-You may also need to retrieve old application preferences.
-Once your sure you've got everything, you can delete the Microsoft User Data Original folder that we renamed and put in your Documents Folder.
    Hope this helps somebody out.

Entourage calendar does not sync as you are expecting, with iCal.
Turn your Entourage sync services on (to sync your calendar) and you will notice in iCal a new calendar on the left, called Entourage. Mind has a purple color to it, for example.
Now, in iCal, create a new appointment and assign it TO the Entourage calendar. Now sync, and hey presto it shows up in Entourage.
This is by design, Entourage does not sync ALL of your iCal calendars, it will only sync the Entourage calendar which is created in iCal.
For example, I have Home, Work, Personal and Entourage calendars in iCal - appointments I make with my Home, Work or Personal calendar will not appear in Entourage, period. Only appointments made in iCal using the Entourage calendar will appear in Entourage (after a sync).
Likewise, appointments made IN Entourage Calendar, are sync'd to iCal and are only visible if you show the Entourage calendar in iCal - (it's switched ON by default, but can be switched off by un-ticking the calendar in the left pane of iCal).
    Does this make sense?

  • I saw contact and notes bluetooth sync options for my MacBook in Settings!

I went under the advanced options for my MacBook, which was paired to the iPhone, in order to 'forget' the device so as to reinitiate a pairing as i had freshly installed Snow Leopard. This time I saw some extra options for the device. One of them was Contacts sync. There was some 'advanced' options too but I decided to explore them after repairing the device so i selected 'forget this device'. After repairing they never reappeared!
PS: my iphone 3g is running iOS4.1 and is not jail broken.

WiFi or Bluetooth syncing is not supported by the iPhone, so it doesn't really matter if these options appear or not as you wouldn't be able to do so anyway.

  • Can iSync sync only selected contacts?

I want to use iSync with my new cell phone, but my address book on my Mac is much larger than on my phone.
I don't want to include everyone on my Mac on my phone.
Is there any way to tell iSync to sync only selected contacts or contact groups?
    Thanks,
    David

Click on your phones icon in iSync, and choose which groups to sync from the list that appears. Edit the groups in Address Book.

  • HT1386 How can I sync only selected playlists from my library in iTunes to iPhone?

Option to sync only selected playlists is grayed out in iTunes for my iPhone. How can I make it so I don't have to sync my entire library?

    know this might sound silly
    but make sure that
    1) sync music is checked
    2) you have playlist with songs in them
    3) your songs have some sort of sorting form on them (artist, genre, album, etc.)
    also try
rebooting pc and device and reconnecting
if all else fails, redownload itunes

  • IPhone not syncing Contacts to Address Book

I noticed that my iPhone (both original iPhone and iPhone 3G) was not syncing contacts with Address Book. I tried to Reset Sync History in iSync, and when I have tried to replace the contacts on iPhone under the Advanced options, I lose all my contacts on the iPhone!
The only way to get some contacts back is restoring from backup, but unfortunately as iTunes performs a backup of the iPhone on sync, these backups also have no contacts! I have an old backup that fortunately has not been overwritten but the contact list is a bit out of date.
Address Book on the Mac seems to be fine and this is backed up.
It would appear that iTunes has somehow lost its "connection" to Address Book, which is why when I chose to replace the Contacts on the iPhone with the information on the computer I lost them all!
iCal still seems to sync fine with Calendar.
Can I re-link Address Book with iTunes?

    Jason L wrote:
    Hey lim_my,
Are contacts syncing with MobileMe or any other applications?
    I don't have MobileMe.
Now you mention it, Address Book did not appear to even update if I updated a contact in Mail.
Can you sync contacts in another User account? to create another user account goto System Preferences> Accounts> click the lock to make changes> click the + button to add another user account.
Yes I can! I only tried to sync Contacts, leaving all other options i.e Calendars Bookmarks Ringtones Music Videos Applications untouched, and now I have some test Contacts on the iPhone.
You can try Resetting the SyncServices folder, Just follow the steps in this article to stop the service and then delete the SyncServices folder in your user library.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
I had tried this before, within iSync, which did not work. I then tried the command in Terminal as per the above link, then went and deleted the /user/Library/ Sync Services folder. Still no joy.
So it looks as though I have a broken Address Book rather than iTunes. Should I post this in the OS X Leopard section of Discussions?

  • Active sync : process selection values are not persistent

    Hi,
    Version: IDM : 6
I am attempting to provision oracle user accounts through IDM active sync process running against an AD LDAP server.
I want to use default forms/views supplied by IDM product, and configure active sync to use my custom workflow on create/update events.
I was not able to save my workflow for any of the events in process selection module of active sync configuration.
    this is what i did..
    ======================================================
Active sync in (advanced mode) ->Process Selection
    Process Mode
Use the event type to determine the process / workflow ? (enabled)
Create -> (from available workflows i select my custom workflow ) save
    ======================================================
after saving my changes , i again re-visited active sync-> process selection : to confirm my changes.
i do not see my saved workflow for create , but i see "default" as selected.
Is assigning custom workflows through actives syncs process selection allowed?
If Yes, How do i preserve my active sync-> process selection configurations?
    Thanks

    Hi Chapo,
Thanks for trying to help me out...
Issue is not with assigning my custom form to my active sync process, it works that way...(i can achieve AD->IDM->ORACLE provisioning) using custom form/workflow...i now want to use, forms/workflow shipped out of box by IDM product to achieve provisioning of oracle accounts(Target) with Active Sync configured on AD (source).I am having issues with this configuration...i am not sure , it even works, out of box with out editing any forms/workflows !!!
what i now to achieve is a partial customization, i.e use forms supplied out of box by idm's active sync process, and ONLY use my custom workflows to do create/updates...
This is what i am trying to do, for an active sync configured on AD resource in advanced mode.
Find the AD LDAP resource under the Resources tab.
The check the box on the left hand side.
Now select "edit Active Sync process" from the drop down box.
In the active sync ->process selection view...select "use event type to determine the process/workflow ?"
and assign my custom workflows for create/update events...
after saving this, i revisit to confirm my changes...only to find that , they get lost/replaced by "default"
so, my question is how do i configure an active sync to use my workflow on create/update events...with out using my custom forms? if "process selection" module of active sync wizard is the way to do this, how can i save my configurations?

    mlvov,
I did as you said and went to the icloud control panel on my Windows 8 Laptop to be sure I was looking at the correct folder for my photo stream.  All my "shared" albulms pushed to my Laptop and are up-to-date with the exception of the "photostream" album. If I create a "shared stream album" and place photo's in it on the phone; I can see the photos on my laptop. I dont get it. I had a iphone 4s and had zero isues and now with my new nifty iPhone 5s it doesent work.
What am I not doing correctly.

  • Bluetooth sync on ios7

This is not a question but a tip in case someone didnt notice.
Apple has finally done it, finally listened to our requests.
Bluetooth sync on ios 7 absolutely ROCKS!!!!!
Videos, apps, music, and even GAMES sync PERFECTLY!!!!!!
Ive tested both on iphone 5 and ipad mini and its absolutely great!!!!
Gaming without the chord of the earphones, is just fantastic!!!
Apple, listen to us more often and #1 is where you'll be for a long time!!!!
How about a 5" screen on the next iphone????

They may have barely fixed the audio/video sync issues on bluetooth headphones while creating another problem like the one you mentioned, but the sync problem still remains with the audio system in vehicles. I do not know if others are having the same issue with their car stereos but I am pretty sure they do because my car, being a 2013 model, has the audio delay during bluetooth playback. Also, since iOS7 update, even playing via USB connection has a slight delay now. Delay in USB is tolerable(only fraction of a second) but delay in bluetooth(about 2 seconds)is just too frustrating.

  • How to i get my contacts on my phone to sync into my address book on my macbook?

i synced my phone to my macbook and the newer contacts wont show up in the addressbook on the laptop. how do i make them sync to the address book from my phone?

What Operating System is your Macbook running? If it's Lion, then you can go into the iCloud control panel in System Preferences, sign in with your Apple ID, and check "Contacts". Then it should sync with your iPhone contacts.
Oh, and make sure your phone is set up with iCloud as well. Of course, only if your Mac is running Lion.

  • Motorola L7 SLVR bluetooth sync in 10.4.7

My question is regarding whether built in support for this phone, the L7 SLVR has been added into 10.4.7, or is it still left out. I tried to find a list for supported bluetooth sync phones, but the apple list I came accross was unclear as to if it applied to usb or blue tooth.
So if you have any experience or a link to blue tooth supported sync phones please let me know

I have a V3i with the exact same firmware, and prior to the 10.4.7 update could only pair my phone via bluetooth but not use any services. Since the update I can sync, file transfer and connect to the internet all via bluetooth. Seems someone has sorted something out somewhere. Hope this helps.

Thanks John for the quick reply.........
I tried the link and deleted the duplicate firewall exceptions but it did not seem to help.  Sometimes I can connect via bluetooth but I keep having to start and stop DM 6 until it will sync.  What is interesting is that Blackberry Device Manager shows that it IS connected and my phone is blinking the light showing that it is connected to the computer. It seems as though DM 6 has isssues establishing a connection.  My current device software version is 4.5.0.175.   As I said before there was no problem with DM 4.5.  I wonder if I should have deleted that version before installing DM 6 over it. I don't think that's the problem since Device manager easily connects with my phone............Greg
