Bluetooth System Preference Gone / Can't Find Keyboard
i booted up my mac pro today and it couldn't find my wireless keyboard. I went to System Preferences and clicked on bluetooth and got the spinning beachball. Restarted and now my bluetooth preference is gone. Changed the batteries on the keyboard and no luck. Ran cocktail (repair disk permissions, etc) and re-set p-ram. Please help!
Same thing hapened to my Macbook overnight. I leave the computer on all night. When I left my Macbook, I know my Bluetooth keyboard and Mighty Mouse were working, but now all I get is Bluetooth: Not Available. I've restarted several times and nothing changes. I appreciate any help.

I can't adjust my volume from the keyboard volume controls... they seem to be locked. I tried system preferences, but couldn't find how to "unlock" them. Thoughts?
Did you try unchecking this function? It seems to work in reverse of what you would expect, or is that just my imagination?

I have updated my mac book pro and am trying to get icloud and the new lion version. The lion version will not download and my biggest problem is finding icloud on my system preference. Can anyone help me?

Connecting your MacBook Pro and your MacBook Air will be the fastest way, but you have to spend money on cables and adapters (also, your MacBook Pro doesn't support Thunderbolt).
As you have a Time Capsule, one thing you can do is to start your MacBook Pro and make a Time Machine backup. Then, turn on your MacBook Air and set it up. Setup Assistant will ask you to restore a backup, so select the option to restore the backup from the Time Capsule and be patient. This can take a lot of time if you have to migrate a lot of files -

I went to my system preferences today and they are all gone except for my language and text icon! I have the language and text icon but that is the only icon that is displayed! where have my system preferences gone and how do i get them back??
Double click on the picture of the HD on your desktop, then look at the bottom of the window that opens.
First check the S.M.A.R.T. status on your HD: Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > in the panel at left, select the first item in the list/your HD mechanism > look atthe bottom of the main window next to S.M.A.R.T. status and see if it says “Verified” or something more ominous like “Failing.”
If S.M.A.R.T.status is "Verified," run Repair Disk: Boot from install disc (insert disc > restart > immediately hold down c key and keep holding it until you see “Preparing Installation”) > at first screen select the language and click Continue > click on the Utilities Menu in the menu bar > open Disk Utility > select your HD in the panel on the left side > click Repair Disk at bottom of main window. Run this at least twice, and keep running it until it says “appears ok” twice in a row. If that doesn’t happen, you may need a stronger utility such as DiskWarrior or if the directory is damaged beyond repair, you may need to reinstall the OS, or you may have a damaged HD (repair utilities can only repair the directory structure, not the HD itself). When this is finished, quit Disk Utility, quit the installer, and restart. Once booted normally, go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility and run Repair Permissions. -

2 - for Yosemite you need to backup your iPhoto library and install iPhoto 9.6 from the App store - if you are upgrading from iPhoto '08 or earlier you need to also run the iPhoto Library upgrader prior to launching iPhoto 9.6
3 - Your photos are NOT in iCloud - it is not a place to store photos - it is only to move photos between devices (MyPhotoStream) or people (shared PhotoStreams) - they are (by default) in the iphoto library in your pictures folder - if you did not backup your iphoto library prior to erasing you disk then they are gone

System Preferences crashes when clicking Mouse & Keyboard properties
Just as the subject described above, the issue is something like this:
I open the System Preferences and click the Mouse & Keyboard properties, and then that app freezes in the "loading" step before showing the properties of it.
If I go back and click it again, then the window doesn't show anything.
Does anyone had this trouble before? Is there any soltion for it?

I’m trying to follow HP’s instructions to add a driver for HP Color Laserjet CP 1215 which is connected to my Time Capsule. However, in System Preferences I can’t “add” the printer to the print queue because I don’t have a driver and you have to select a driver before the add button becomes active. Therefore, the Mountain Lion software update doesn’t add driver software for the CP 1215 driver because I was unable to add the printer to the print queue.
This printer doesn't seem to be supported in ML:

You could try the 1515 driver or use the Generic PostScript Printer PPD when adding the printer.

Having moved my Itunes folder to a new external hardrive and resetting where it is in preferences Itunes can't find them and I have to direct it to every song- a little ! pops up next to the song and a dialogue box says Itunes can't find it so thn i have to manually search for it - I have a months worth of songs on there so this will take avery long time - any ideas on what's up?

That's not how to do it. You don't move stuff then set the iTunes prefs > Advanced.
Once you move the /iTunes/ folder, hold Option, launch iTunes and select Choose library... and select the ITunes folder on the external.
This will use the iTunes library file in the iTunes folder you moved.
Don't change iTunes prefs > Advanced. -

Read the system requirements for iCloud. It is not compatible with Snow Leopard which your system profile confirms you have.

Mighty Mouse - Mouse/keyboard system preferences gone
I have a bluetooth mighty mouse instaled in my computer but now I cannot access the mouse/keyboard preferences in the System preferences. They do not appear. The mouse is working just fine but I cannot change anything in the preferences. And I cannot watch the state of charge of the batteries either. I cannot see nothing. That tab is all grey now.
I tried also to do so via the bluetooth preferences but when I ask to open the Bluetooth preference of the mouse a window appears and says that the mouse preferences are not shown because I haven't any mouse connected to my computer.
I remember that when I had access I changed the name of the mouse.
I already deleted the connection and tried to re-install it again. But the mouse appears with the same name, and the problem persists.

Any bright soul?I have a slightly different problem: My bluetooth Mighty Mouse works in a basic mode (primary & secondary button, scroll wheel) but the side buttons and scroll buttons do not work. In the Keyboard & Mouse preferences, I have Dashboard set up for the scroll button and Expose set up for the side buttons. They do not work. If I set up the primary or secondary buttons for Dashboard or Expose, it works. In the Bluetooth tab, the Bluetooth Mouse Name is blank and Battery Level is grayed out. In the Bluetooth Preferences, it shows Mighty Mouse connected. Any ideas? I am running OS X 10.5.4 (but it didn't work in 10.5.3 either)

This issue happened randomly. I was working away and the bluetooth just disappeared. The first time this happened, I reset the SMC and it solved the issue. Now, nothing seems to work including removing the bluetooth plist file. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks.
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
