Bluetooth Tethering with iPhone 3G 3.0

I hope someone can help here.  I have searched through all these forums without any luck.
I am attempting to tether using th iPhone 3G 3.0 via BT with the T500 and I keep getting the message "bluetooth peripheral device" cannot be found.  I can however tether via the USB cable but for the life of me I cannot get BT to tether.
I have the latest BT software (6.1.0.5100) from Lenovo. I also tried the WICOMM software from Broadcom (http://www.broadcom.com/support/license.php?file=SetupBtwDownloadSE.exe) no luck.
BTW I can BT join the iPhone 3G with an Asus EeePC with Windows XP and tether all I want.  Works great actually.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.

I spent some time figuring out how to tether with my iPhone 3G 3.0 - the steps below might or might not help you:
Configuration: I have T60 with Windows XP SP3
1. Upgrad the Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Firmware Update to Version 2.1.211.299
2. Upgrad the Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software II to Version 5.5.0.6400
3. Restart the laptop (#2 requires it)
4. After restart enable the Bluetooth (Fn+F5)
5. Go to My Bluetooth places
6. Make sure iPhone is with enabled Bluetooth and ready for tethering
7. Add a Bluetooth device, select the iPhone and pair it
8. For Service Selection check PAN network access profile
9. Finish

I use a bluetooth headset with iPhone 5 but when I ask Siri to read my email she says I must unlock my phone first.  If I take the phone out of my pocket I might as well just read the email from the phone screen.  Is there a way to fix this so the phone doesn't have to be unlocked?

Apple, as I'm sure you know, now manage official phone 'unlocks' directly rather than the Newtork doing so.
When a GSM Network Provider buys a consignment of iPhone's they are locked to that carrier and may only be officially unlocked if said carrier requests it. If so, it is Apple who do this, via iTunes.
I am therefore inclined to think that part of the any generic iTunes syncing process involves the transmission of key hardware data, including IMEI, to Apple whenever the handset is synced.
If this is the case and, as each iTunes account is linked to a credit card, were Apple to maintain a database of genuinely stolen phones (ones reported to Police) they could advise said Police force when a stolen phone stuck its metaphorical head over the parapets once again? They would be able to identify the name & address of the new user.
I have spoken to the Police here in Ireland today and they regularly engage with Apple on such matters.
This may not be tracking as we know it Jim, (not using GSM Triangulation or GPS) but it's arguably even more targetted and leaves an indelible fingerprint of guilt on the thief.
The laws here are simple in this regard, if you are in possession of stolen property, knowlingly or otherwise, you forfeit the goods once the Police show up. Whether you get prosecuted depends on whether you stole the goods or were duped into purchasing them.

  • Bluetooth tethering with Sprint is slowwwwww

Is this normal? I get fast speed on the mobile handset, but when bluetooth tethered with
the Mac...its super slow. I usually get like 700kbs on the handset, now im getting 100kbs the most.

I might have a solution for you, but its a crappy one.
I have the exact same problem with this phone and my new 17 Inch Macbook Pro.
What fixed it for me was using a Bluetooth Dongle instead of the built in Bluetooth. You need to add a second PAN connection in the Network Prefs and repair everything, but when you get it all configured correctly and use the Dongle instead of the built in Bluetooth, I bet it works flawlessly.
There is something wrong with how Apples newer Bluetooth hardware is interacting with this phone. I even went to an Apple Store and tested on another 17 inch Macbook to make sure it wasent just my computer. The older Macbooks worked fine, so its something in the newer hardware.
Call Apple, make them aware that this is an issue with all their newer stuff. Let them (and me) know if using an external bluetooth adapter fixed the issue for you.

  • Bluetooth issues with iPhone 5

Is anyone experiencing connection issues since updating?  Since updating iPhone 4 w/iOS 6 I've been experiencing Bluetooth connectivity with VW Jetta 2012. Now I have the iPhone 5 & it's still an issue. Which leads me to believe its the iOS 6 update. It works and then it doesn't. Very frustrating. And in most cases it connects but allows no controls using car stereo as before. All you see is "Bluetooth audio" on car stereo dash.

My Harman Kardon BT Headphones keep cutting out intermittently.  I found that the music would stop streaming to the headphone but it would continue playing on the phone.  To get the music back I had to keep pressing the play button on both my iphone and headphone and it would eventually come back.  Is it an issue with the 5 or is it my new headphones?
Had issues too. RESET my Jawbone Icon per online PDF and removed from iPhone and re paired no problem now.

  • Bluetooth problems with iPhone 3G

Does anyone know why my iPhone 3G will only find some bluetooth devices and not others? Since i got it i have only been able to successfully pair with my Samsung bluetooth ear piece.
    Cheers

What devices are you trying to pair with? Note that the iPhone only supports protocols for voice and music, not for file sharing - so, you cannot pair with other phones, computers, etc. (except for tethering, if your carrier supports that).

  • Bad Bluetooth behavior with iPhone 4S / iOS 5.0.1

I'm having a very strange issue with my iPhone 4S the last few days. I own a Hyundai Sonata, which has built-in Bluetooth for hands-free use, and it's been paired with my 4S since the day I got it (and my old 3G before that).
Up until a few days ago, BT has worked flawlessly: Everything auto-connects when I start up the car, incoming and outgoing calls would automatically use the Sonata's BT system, and the Music app could independenty play audio over the Kensington AUX connector dock cable I own.
But the last few days, even though the phone shows the BT logo in the status bar and my car shows it's connected, and even though checking the Settings app shows everything is connected, calls refuse to use the BT audio (either incoming or outgoing). Even stranger is what happens I tap the Audio Sources button in the Phone app -- I see "Sonata" listed in the options, as well as "Dock Connector" and "Speaker". But tapping "Sonata" does absolutely nothing; it stays locked on "Dock Connector". Restarting the phone has no effect, and I've found I have to shut off BT in the Phone and turn it back on to get the phone working right again.
Even weirder was what happened this morning. I got another call, and again I had to shut off BT and turn it back on (after pulling over ). But then, when I went back to the Music app, I saw "Sonata", "Dock Connector", and another option I'd never seen before (can't remember the name now). This time, tapping "Dock Connector" was useless, and I had to play everything over BT for the Music app (but at least the phone was working).
My normal flow when I get into the car is this:
    1) Start the car
    2) Wait for BT to connect
    3) Connect the AUX cable to the dock port for power and music playback
    4) Fire up my music / podcasts
This saves me from having to use the AirPlay controls to select the audio source, since reversing steps 2 and 3 causes audio to play back over BT by default once that's connected, and I don't want to do that when I've got a nice AUX connection. I've been doing this for months without issue, so I don't think it's cause and effect.
Likewise, in all the cases where this has happened, I had the Music player open and playing a podcast at 2x, but again I don't think this is the cause, either -- I've played podcasts at 2x before and didn't have these connectivity problems when a call came in.
Are others having this issue? I haven't tried a "hard reboot" yet (holding Home and Sleep/Wake until screen goes dark and then comes back with the Apple logo), but I'm getting sorely tempted.
    Thanks in advance!
    - Joe -

If your phone was hacked to unlock from another carrer, when you updated it was re-locked to the original carrier.

  • 8.1 did not fix Bluetooth issue with iPhone 5 and car

8.1 didn't fix my issue with Bluetooth. I can receive calls and play music thru my Mazda CX-9 but I cannot make outgoing calls. My daughter has same issue with her iPhone 5 in her car so it has to be glitch with Apple yet. Please help. I'm so totally frustrated and I'm not eligible for iPhone 6 until January.

I found there is another contact group list as part of the Bluetooth sync menu; altering that took care of the issue.
    This is a non-issue.

  • TS3018 Bluetooth trouble with iPhone 5

My iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1.4 is not connecting to the Bluetooth device JBL Flip portable speaker. Any solutions?

You should really start your own topic since this one is about a video recorder.
In your new post list the make and model of the speaker you are trying to connect with and what you have tried so far.
Sorry, wrong Flip. Is yours a JBL? Is it in discoverable mode? Do you have another device paired with it?

  • Bluetooth problem with iphone 5

why i can´t conect my IPHONE 5 with my MAC...... someone knows how to do it??? because i try everything and nothing works!!!
    10x

Unless you're trying to Tether, by Bluetooth, your phone won't pair with your Mac. File transfer, by Bluetooth, has never been supported on any iPhone.
    So, you can quit trying.

  • Bluetooth Problems With iPhone 6

With the latest iOS on iPhone 6 is there still problems with Bluetooth connectivity? I have a FitBit, a Plantronics Marque 2, and a Casio STB-1000 watch that will not stay constantly connected. Since the later two were new, I was blaming them until I started having problems with the Fitbit which I never had problems on my iPhone 5 and seeing others having problems. Come on Apple, with all the people having problems we need a fix.

    Hi stevenfrommarion,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like there is trouble with bluetooth connectivity. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • Bluetooth connectivity with iPhone 6

Is Apple STILL having an issue with Bluetooth connectivity in cars with the iphone6? I am getting very frustrated as I have had my iPhone since the beginning of October. Does anyone know how I can resolve the issue? I travel a lot and would graciously appreciate any help! Thanks!

I found this in another forum:
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will reset all network settings including: previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords, recently used Bluetooth accessories, VPN, and APN settings.
Once this is done - then delete the pairing from your iphone and then pair your phone to your car again.
Going to try this first thing tomorrow.

  • Alpine bluetooth radio with Iphone 5c

my new Iphone 5c pairs fine with my alpine bluetooth radio. However it does not do anything after that. For example, I can't make calls or play music. How do I fix this? Is it the Iphone or my radio? I've seen other people have the same problems.

Have the same problem with Mac mini "Core 2 Duo" 2.66 (Server-Mid 2010) running Yosemite and iPhone 5c running iOS 8.1. The devices do show up in each others discovery list, however connection fails during paring. No connection established.

  • Bluetooth issue with iPhone 4 and Mercedes Benz

I just received my iphone 4 today and it has a huge problem. When my previous iPhone 3GS was paired with my Mercedes Benz bluetooth telephone system, within seconds the address book was loaded. This continued to work well even after I upgraded it to iOS4. HOWEVER, my new iPhone4 will not sync the address book. This is extremely annoying considering my iphone sits in my glove box connected so that my itunes audio plays through my car audio.
Since I spend a great deal of time driving, this problem is big enough that it may cause me to return the iPhone4 and stick with the older model.

If you have the long futuristic puck in the center console here are the instructions I follow - works every time on my 2009 S550:
Important: * DON'T USE THE COMAND ON-SCREEN MENU - this will just mess you up *
Repeat: * DON'T USE THE COMAND ON-SCREEN MENU at all for this *
    1) Put your iPhone on the bluetooth settings screen (Settings-General-Bluetooth)
    2) Press the Mercedes logo on the center console puck for 3 seconds (it's actually a button, puck will flash blue)
    3) Car might show up as "Hands-free" or "MB PhoneSystem" on the iPhone - select it
    4) It will ask for a code - the number is always 62872
That's it! Let me know if you have any trouble.
p.s. phone book might take 2-3 minutes to upload each time - this is normal.
