Bluish Tint

hmmm I got this problem w/my glass screen mbp15" that I just sold 2 days ago. Now I have the new mbp 17" matte & I thought this problem shouldn't exist but just notice the BLUISH TINT again NOW.
anyone has the same issue. Is this a defected sign of the display or just an apple thing?
J

My MacBook Pro 15" (march 2009) does the same thing ocassionally as well. I have it connected to a 24' LCD display most of the time.
I discovered last week that when it does it, I can open the Display control panel, click the color tab and then toggle the color profile to any other, and then back to the normal one and it resets everything back to normal again instead of rebooting.

  • Bluish tint on screen when Photoshop CS6 running

    Hi!
I just bought a MacBook Pro three weeks ago. I'm running Mountain Lion. Also, I have my copy of Adobe Photoshop CS6.
Something very unusual is happening. I'm a Graphic Designer and currently doing an Interior Design major. I calibrated my monitor perfectly. But now, ever since I installed CS6, every time I open Photoshop, a bluish tint sets on the screen, affecting every program running (browsers, for example) and it's very annoying (not to mention it disrupts any color calibration I made to my monitor). The only solution to this problem is closing Photoshop (the problem persists even if I minimize Photoshop to use another program).
I tried opening Illustrator and it works fine. Only with Photoshop this is happening.
I searched on Apple discussion boards for similar cases and found nothing.
What's interesting, I took screenshots to send them to a friend and the screenshots don't seem to be affected by this phenomenon.
Have I gone crazy or someone here has an idea on this?
    Thank you!

As I said in my post on the Apple board, my bluish tint problem when switching graphics cards eventually just went away - no idea why. And I tried recalibrating when I had the blue tint screen but do no avail.
I can open Photoshop and use it with my Intel integrated card sometimes - PS itself doesn't seem to make the switch automatically. But when I open Bridge (which I use almost always) the discrete graphics card kicks in. My temporary solution was to use gfxCardStatus on discrete all of the time. And after a while, when I began switching to integrated while on battery, my problem vanished.
But if you've a new MBP (mine's a late 2011 yet still under warranty until 2015) I'd take it back to the Apple Store and have them switch it out for another machine. The problem doesn't seem to crop up often (else there would be many more complaints) and it seems to be only on 2011 and 2012 machines. I don't think it's an Adobe problem at all as it happened to me when any app that uses discrete graphics would kick in (including Google Chrome).
I didn't send in a bug report to Apple because I thought that the problem was only with my machine. Yours is only the fourth time I've heard of the dreaded blue tint occurring. Take your machine back to the Apple Store and show them the problem. Maybe they will have a better fix than just using gfxCardStatus.
    Regards,
    Clinton

  • Need Help Fixing Bad Color Profile (Leading to Bluish Tint)

    Hi folks,
I've been experiencing problems with my late-2011 Macbook Pro for the past several months.  Whenever it switches to dedicated graphics, the screen results in a bluish tint.
I believe it's a problem with the color profile on my machine.  The diagnostic identifies two problems with the color profile, but the system is unable to fix the problem (see attached photo).
Does anybody know how I can fix this?
EDIT: I should note I'm running the latest version of OSX 10.8.4.  I never experienced this problem with 10.7.x.

  • Lite bluish tint to screen

    Hi -
Just got the new Imac dual core a few weeks ago and woke it out of sleep mode and noticed a slight flicker happened, and now I feel like there is a lite bluish tint to all the whites now (for example looking at the Google homepage), almost as if a light blue thin film has been placed over the monitor screen.
I reset all the monitor calibrations in System Preferences but nothing seemed to change.
It's not interfering with any work but is driving me crazy, like an itch I can't scratch.
Also, don't know if its related but I notice a light constant flicker with the monitor goes into sub-sleep mode and the screen dims for a bit.
Anyone else had this problem or heard anything like it? Not sure if its worth taking in to Apple store...
    thanks for any input

A very reasonable approach; I suspect you enjoy using your computer.
I never understood how important work could be done while viewing grey bars across one's screen looking for minute colour variations. When my screen blanker was displaying my photos with the Ken Burns effect, I looked hard to see the colour variation in a given portion of the photo as the photo moved at various angles across the screen - couldn't swear I could see a problem on the monitor I'm using now. If I stare hard enough at alternating light and dark grey bars on the screen, I might even see the Shroud of Turin on the screen eventually. On this monitor or any monitor.
Okay, I'll be serious for a moment...
I am not denying there are some with very evident and serious colour problems of course. But for the vast majority, considering the price of the entire 27" iMac is less than half the price of a professional-grade colour Eizo monitor... e.g. $4,400 for a 30" monitor with 97% Adobe RGB colour-space and only 290 cd/m², I don't think every monitor will be perfectly uniform. Eizo verifies uniformity over 25 points on the display. I don't know what Apple does of course.
    http://www.eizo.com/global/products/coloredge/cg301w/index.html
I have noticed several people saying they can tolerate a little colour variation, but the flickering / tearing / blackouts are not acceptable. I agree with that and also expect those problems will be resolved in our first year of ownership so everyone will be covered by their warranty.

  • Bluish tint on a new glass?!

I dropped my iPhone 4 (white) on the ground and the front glass cracked today. I went to the shop and they replace it but now the screen color seems to have a bluish tint, it was not like that before... any ideas?!

the problem is for macbook pro 2010 with ssd installed.
mountain lion cannot load the discrete graphic driver well and it mistakes when it switch to this using some programs (like chrome, ps, Transmission and so on)
by now u can just logout and login after every restart to fix this.
i hope they'll fix it forever in the next update.

You have posted in the G5 forum, but yes, there have been reports of color problems with the new intel, usually a yellowish tint near the bottom of the screen. In any case, call Apple and discuss it with them, and make sure you get Apple Care before the end of your first year of ownership!

  • A720 Screen has Bluish Tint

    Hello,
I need some help with my screen I have gone through numerous steps to adjust but the screen still seems to have a bluish tint.  A newer driver is out but I am unable to install it for some reason.  Reinstalling the recommended driver has not helped.
    Any suggestions?

    dcxman:
Not sure if you have resolved this issue yet, but I had this issue this morning. (I have a B320)
If you go to the Intel (R) HD Graphics icon located in the Notification area of your Task bar>Select: Graphic Properties>Select: Adcanced Mode>Select: Monitor/TV Settings>Scroll to bottom and select Restore Factory Default.
I had to do it a few times, then restarted the machine. Everything is back to normal now.
Hope this helps if you are still dealing with the issue.

  • Can you help me fix my screen? It randomly has a bluish tint, bad resolution and horizontal flashing lines

    Hi all,
    It's a 15" 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo MBP running on Leopard 10.5.8, bought spring 2008.
About a couple of weeks ago, my screen started randomly switching to a strange blue / purple tint along with a bad resolution (can't really read text on screen) and flashing horizontal lines in the background. It started worrying me given I'm working with it all the time and am hoping for this machine to hold on for a few more months until I can buy a new one.
It would happen randomly for a few minutes at a time and then revert back to normal screen.
I found a lot of references to a similar problem in a few threads such as this one:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1456983?tstart=0
My screen has gone strange again now and isn't reverting back to normal so far even after I tried  restarting it. It was normal for 2 min only ans then back to bluish. I tried all the display fixes indicated in the threads but none of them work and I'm not exactly sure my issue is the same given I can still see the tint and horizontal lines in particular if the screen saver goes on, and the resolution on screenshots I've seen of other people having blue tint screen issues seems to be normal (as in text is legible).
Any ideas on how to fix it? Do you think it might be more of a software or hardware problem..? Would it help if I try upgrading my Mac OS?
Thank you very much for your time

Thanks a lot for the reply, I was worried would say that outright. Screen just only reverted back to normal after a couple of hours. As you said probably best to bring it in for diagnosis, I'll try to do that asap though of course I'm nowhere neaar any AASP at the moment.

  • Mac has a bluish tint to it, just happened last week

Hello! My Mac is a refurb, early 2011, I got it in the September. It's always run a bit low, because it's only 4gb. But a few days ago the browsers turned a bit, well, grey. Sometimes a bluish colour. ColorSync says no problem. I need to know if I'm losing my marbles! Perhaps it's always had this grey tint thing, but the blue is most odd. It doesn't happen all the time; just sometimes, when I load a page, the browser goes blue for several seconds. Screen grab here: http://tinypic.com/r/zjf7mq/8
It's not harming anything, I suppose, but I wonder if it's the beginning of problems for the Mac. I've already started thinking about buying a new one and flogging this one...

    "MacBook Pro (15-inch Early 2011), OS X Mavericks (10.9.4)"
So there's a recall on this model. Run your serial number here to see if you're in the recall pool.
Since it's a refurb it might be different but it that's actually the original date of manufacture it should be one of the ones affected.
    Apple Recall:
    https://www.apple.com/support/macbookpro-videoissues/
Take it to the Apple store and they'll run tests on it. Make sure they run the tests many times. Sometimes it twakes a while to get the diagnostic to kick our an error code.

  • Screen has a bluish tint after fast user switching and then warning tone

Hi all I'm having a bit of a problem that I hope someone can help me with. First the details, I have a MBP bought in late '07 and running Tiger. I was doing full backups using "Backup" and I also had Safari, iTunes, and Word open. I briefly switched to my other account using fast user switching and when I returned to the original account the whole screen had a blue tint to it. Like the color profile was off. This has happened before and a restart usually cures it, I haven't restarted yet but I am fairly certain it will correct the problem this time too. But is there anyway to prevent this? My second question is the one I'm more worried about. It also has happened before but usually when using more CPU intensive applications. When I went to System Preferences and opened up the display preferences in an attempt to correct the previous problem I heard a very loud tone. Like some type of warning tone, it was loud enough that it startled me. I had iTunes playing and after the tone the music got very quiet but relaunching it brought it back to normal. I'm just wondering is this some type of warning tone? Is it something I should be concerned about? Besides the music everything else seemed unaffected, although the previous times that this has happened usually when using handbrake there was noticeable problems after the tone (like applications crashing). All of these problems are gone after the computer is restarted though. Does anyone have any insight on these issues? Thank you.
    -James

OK I ran TechTool and everything passed except for the volume scan. Then I checked this with Disk Utility and the HD failed for a few minor reasons, like invalid block count. I repaired it using the fsck -fy command in single user mode. The computer seems a little faster now. I don't know if this error is related to the beep in any way, I may try talking to an Apple genius to see if they know. Since it seems like pretty minor errors I'm not too worried about it but it does seem to be happening often. The last time I had this error was when I posted a question here about it which I just checked was on March 1st. So this error happened again after a little more than 2 weeks which seems excessive to me. Any thoughts?

  • Brand new, white Verizon iPhone4, has a yellow tinted screen.

I just bought a brand new Verizon (white) iPhone and noticed the color of the screen had a warmer (yellowish) tint to it, comparing it my iPod4 which has a cooler (bluish) tint. I then compared it to a friend's AT&T iPhone4 and noticed he had the cooler  tint to it as well. We both had the brightness turned all the way up.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I really like the bluish look a lot more because the whites look more like whites.
I'm wondering if maybe my iPhone was color calibrated incorrectly or if this was done intentionally.

    Hi
How did it go with Apple customer care? Just wondering because I exchanged my white Verizon iPhone and I see it exactly the same yellowish tint on the screen and compared it to all the black iPhones they had at the store, so I'm just wondering if Apple care was able to do anything??
    Thanks
I haven't called Apple's customer care service but instead brought my iPhone into an official Apple retail store. The employee has never been approached about the yellow tint yet, and assured me there was nothing wrong with it. He also couldn't give me an answer I was looking for either; if it was Apple's intention or not. He himself had a brand new Verizon white iPhone and we compared ours and they both looked the same. I showed him my friends AT&T black iPhone and set it next to mine but he really didn't notice the difference. My friend also had a protective screen over it and the employee said maybe the blue tint I was seeing was from the plastic (which I know is not the cause).
I brought it to Verizon's store and the employee there said he didn't see any real problem with it and since Apple didn't send them a notice about a recall on their iPhone's, there was nothing they could do about it.
So I thought, this is must be what they are doing for all their new iPhone's. Every new one I see, it's tinted yellow. Although when I was in the Apple store and compared it to one of the new iPad2's displays, the iPad had a blue tinted screen.
The mystery over the yellow screen continues!
[However, I've been getting used to the yellow screen and I don't even notice it anymore.]

  • Blue Tint Started after I set up TV monitor: dual g5 2.0Ghz

Machine: Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5 10.4.6 with Lacie Electron Blue 22 connected to it. ATI Radeon 9650 Driving it.
Problem: It was working fine. Now it has blue tint (haze) to it. It looks like somebody put a piece of blue plastic wrap in the front of the entire screen. When I restart, it will appear neutral white (normal) and then after "a while" it goes to the blue tint and it pretty much stays that way.
What I did recently that MAY have caused the problem: I attached my TV - 37 inch lcd - via a DVI-D cable, messed around with it, got the lacie and the TV mirrored... things worked fine. Better than fine, wonderful. Disconnected the TV, messed with the display settings, then the blue thing happened later (not immediately after disconnecting tv).
How I know that it is not the monitor (hardware): Because the monitor is shared via a KVM between the G5 and my linux server. There is no tint when I switch over to the linux server. I also eliminated KVM problems by trading cables between the g5 and the linux box and the behavior on the G5 was exactly as described above. This kvm thing worked fine for nearly 6 months and it would be quite a coincidence anyway if it went bad while i was hooking up the TV to the G5. Right now I am typing this through a bluish tint on the G5 and there is no tint when I switch to the linux box (likewise, the TV looks fine right now).
Things I have tried: Changing color profiles, restarting umteen times, switching dvi ports on cards, removing tv monitor, etc. I've tried a bunch of things, but of course I may have overlooked something.
I did try to calibrate the monitor at some point in all this mess, but even if I messed something up, when I switch to other color profiles, it still happens.
I feel like it must be something to do with the software. I just don't get it.
I need some help, I've got to do some photography work on the G5 and I cant do it when my white balance is blue!
    2Ghz G5 see text   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Solved.
The problem turned out to be the kvm switch (for those that care it is an iomega gcs632U). This is the second one that has broken. I would not recommend this switch. The first time it was something different.
When I tested it, it must have been behaving erratically and worked fine during the test.

  • Mac AME creating blue tinted video

I tried to submit a bug report but AME was not available as an option, so I submitted the report under PrP 5.5.
    I have a Mac Pro 3,1
    10.6.8
    Nvidia 4000
    Kona 3
    24 gigs ram
    Maxx Digital/Areca 8TB. raid

Sorry for the double post. I realized I was in the wrong forum and created one here, only to realize it had been moved for me.
No, this is happening on my one and only system...with Kona and Nvidia up to date codecs installed. I just did some testing that may point to a possible cause.
Richard Harringtons wonderful book has tutorial projects for PrP5 and PrP 5.5. The problem seemed to manifest with those 5.5 projects using Cineform source clips. Exported or Queued they would have this intermittent bluish tint as noted.
I took one of the clips and created a New Sequence using the drag and drop on the button approach. Then I added the same clips that exhibited the problem in that sequence. I then rendered it out and it was fine.
I suspect there is something within Harringtons sequences that was eliciting the problem. Which is good to know since there doesn't seem to be an issue if I don't render them, which is not necessary for 95% of the tutorials. Very strange but seemingly identified.

  • Tints on hyperlinks on iPad

I am making an interactive pdf that will be intended for use on the iPad.
There are hyperlinks throughout, linking to pages within the pdf.
When view on my computer, everything looks and works fine.
Though when viewing on the iPad, there is a bluish tint on all the hotspots.
I've made sure the PDF is RGB and have tried several color profiles, and get the same thing.
