Blur edges in stacked image output file

Hi,
I'm using the auto align and auto blend feature to stacked images for increased DOF. My source files are clean no ghosting, blur or what ever. After I run the files through the auto align and then auto blend  I flatten  the stack of layers. The final output file has blurring around the edges. I use the blended output files for creating panorama's. Notice the two bands of blur
Does anyone know how to eliminate the blurred boarders in the out files or a btter way to get the result I'm looking for?
thanks

That's a lot of conversions. On top of that, iDVD takes your MP4 and makes an MPEG2. So you have a VHS file that was transfered to DVD (VOB file)? Then from DVD to MP4, from MP4 to MPEG2. Each conversion loosed something. On top of the Long GOP compression (DVD, MP4, MPEG2) means most frame information is thrown away. Long GOP looks at one frame (I-Frame) then records only the motion difference between that I-Frame and the next 14 frames (or so). So fast motion is difficult for any MPEG encoder, including iDVD. For more info on long GOP on a DVD:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG-2
To improve the quality, I would try to go back to the original VHS material and import that as a DV file, NOT a VOB or otherwise compressed file. VHS to DV. After that, I would then split the 95-minute program into two movies for two DVDs. Getting the content under 60-minutes will allow for a higher bit rate on the DVD. And the only way to improve motion scenes is to use a higher bit rate (and less conversions!).

  • Blurring edges of .JPG image ?

    How do I take .JPG photo image mask it, and blur the edges?
    It is a rectangular photographic image that I want to create
    a central oval in focus, and "ovalize" the
    rest of the rectangle outside central focused picture, and
    blur the outer band of the rectangle.
    I'm a newbie if you couldn't tell.
    Fred Z.

    There are a bunch of ways you could do this in Fireworks, but
    I think the easiest and most flexible would be to use a vector
    ellipse, with a feathered edge, as a mask on the bitmap.
    1) Open the JPG in Fireworks
    2) Use the Ellipse tool to draw an ellipse inside your image.
    Keep ellipse small enough so that the edge of the ellipse is far
    enough away from the edge of the image for the feathering.
    3) In the properties panel, make sure the ellipse is white
    4) In the properties panel, look for the "Edge" dropdown and
    change it to "Feather"
    5) You can set the Feather amount.
    6) Select both objects (the original bitmap image, and the
    vector ellipse) and choose Modify > Mask > Group as Mask
    At this point you should have a nice feathered, elliptical
    mask to your original image. You can change the background color to
    match your website background color (select nothing, then look in
    the Properties panel to choose background color).
    If you find that the ellipse is not quite the right size,
    position, or feather, you can continue to edit it. Look in the
    Layers panel, and click on the mask thumbnail (it will be the
    thumbnail on the right of the two thumbnails which appear "linked"
    together). Once selected, you can change the feather. If you want
    to move or scale the ellipse without moving/scaling the image, you
    must "unlink" the mask -- simply click that little chain link icon
    between the mask thumbnail and the image thumbnail in the layers
    panel. Once unlinked, you can click on the mask thumbnail and
    move/scale without moving/scaling the image.
    Hope that does the trick!

    Hi,
    This is developer from Autodesk. We get this compile error from time to time. This is a sporadic failure. We can't find any issue in our own project.
    vbc : error BC31019: Unable to write to output file 'D:\Revit\Dev32\RevitAdditions\Source\..\Intermediate\ReleaseWin32\VBNETSnippets\VBNETSnippets.dll': The specified image file did not contain a resource section.
    I find a help doc from the website to try some steps to solve this issue.
    Error ID: BC31019
    To correct this error
    Compile the program again to      see if the error recurs.
    If the error continues, save      your work and restart Visual Studio.
    If the error continues, restart      the computer.
    If the error recurs, reinstall      Visual Basic.
    If the error persists after      reinstallation, notify Microsoft Product Support Services.
    My question is what the root cause for this issue. Could you please give us some explanation where the issue should be,  VB compiler? .Net Framework?
    Visual Studio? Operating system?
    Thanks

  • Photoshop freezes when using Auto-Blend Layers - Stack Images

    I used to have CS5 on my computer, after which I used the CS6 trial, and I never had any problems when stacking images using Auto-Blend Layers -> Stack Images. However, I recently purchased a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud and after uninstalling the old PS versions and installing Cloud, Photoshop freezes every time I try to stack images.
    My computer has very good specs, runs Windows 7, and both the OS and PS are up to date.

  • Compositing Motion output files

    Hi all-
    I asked a question and many chimed in, but the answers didn't quite rectify the issue. I re-read my post, and I think the issue could have been better explained. Here goes:
    We are producing an animated trailer for our film.
    In Motion, we created a snowstorm (Motion project file #1) and a 3D words that fly over head (Motion project file #2-7).
    The quality of each of these files looks GREAT when viewed in the Motion canvas on my 30" Studio display at 100% (great crisp edges).
    I outputted each of the motion project files to a quicktime movie with an alpha channel using the ANIMATION codec set to 100%
    The quicktime files, when viewed in quicktime look great -- just about as good as they look in the Motion canvas.
    Now I need a solution to composite all of these ANIMATION quicktime files into a movie.....Final Cut, right?
    So I did that and here is the result:
    http://rccm.org/longago.jpg
    The top image is a still exported from quicktime using one of the individual motion project files
    The bottom is a still exported from FCP after the composite...
    WHERE AM I GETTING THIS HORRIBLE LOSS?
    I've read the article on why images look bad on the FCP canvas, but the lower speaks for itself when compared to the upper.
    HOW CAN I BEST COMPOSITE THE QUICKTIME FILES?
    Here's our workflow
    1) Create in Motion
    2) Output each element to a ANIMATION file
    3) compile all output files in FCP (in a 1920x1080 sequence using the Animation codec at 100%)
    4) Output from FCP using (????)
    Using the latest versions of FCS
    Thanks!
    Many thanks!

    OK....I changed the Field Dominence (in FCP's Sequence settings) to Upper (odd) and it now looks good.
    I tested the output.
    I checked and rechecked -- I am outputting from Motion with no field dominance.
    I'm glad we found this solution...but why is this happening???

  • Where does Lightroom put HDR in the grid view? Is there anyway to have Lightroom stack the HDR file with the source files?

    I can't decipher where (and why) the program is putting the HDR image in the grid. I stack all of my HDR source images so they are easy to track and manage. Other apps/plugins allow you to stack resulting images with their source image. That would be great if there's a way to set that in LR preferences.

    Thanks, but this doesn't really answer the question about stacking the HDR file with the source files. Yes, it does put the file in the same folder, however many of my folders have 100s of images (that often look similar) and as far as I can tell, LR places them randomly in the sort order. It doesn't appear to put them at the beginning or end of the sort (usually by date), but somewhere randomly in the middle. Even if it could be made clear what method it is using to sort them, that would help locate one file among hundreds.
    Ideally, however it should allow you to stack with the stacked source files. Is there anyway to do this? If not, is it a feature that could be requested?

  • Can you fix your help project (via coding) after importing a topic from an output file by mistake?

    Yes - I admit it - I imported html topic files from an output folder of another RH project into the help project I am currently working on (the source files were lost and I needed to bring over a lot of legacy content in a hurry). However, I completely forget that the RH output html file contains unique Java scripting that is used to render the topic properly in a browser, but that same Java Script causes havoc when you open it up in as a source file in another RH Project. Needless to say, it has caused numerous weird things when I went to publish and view my files (but, surprisingly, you don’t really see or notice them in the RH Design WYSIWYG view or preview mode).
    The bad news is that it took about 2 weeks for me to notice the issue (the help output is viewed on a special console running Linux with a QT browser that I only view occasionally). The good news is that is that I figured out what the problem was (that took some hours) and I can restore my help project back to a time before I did the "naughty deed".
    I am now at a crossroads - do I:
    Try to re-enter all of my content from the last two weeks? (Actually, to avoid repeating the same mistake twice, I will need to re-enter the text manually and NOT cut and paste from the RH output files!)
    Or locate and find the offending HTML coding in my topic files (if that is even possible)? Has anybody documented what the RH output file JavaScript code injects into your files, and what files they affect?

    OK - here is the documentation of this weird issue (hopefully, you can read the htlm code in the screen images):
    1. In this topic, I cut and pasted some text into the table you see at the bottom of the screen. I had to reapply the “TableBody” style to this text. After doing this, I moved my cursor to the “Keyboard" text on top. Notice that it is displaying the "TABLEBODY" style, although visually, it is displaying the correct style on screen (“Heading 1”).
    2.     In HTML view, notice the addition of the class= “TableBody”> code for this “Keyboard” text.
    3.   I then reselected Heading 1 for this “Keyboard” text.
    4.   Notice that the class= “TableBody”> code is now removed for this “Keyboard” text and has just the proper <h1> tagged assigned.

  • How to edit 16bit TIFF image sequence file in FCP?

    Dear all,
    I have a number of 16 bit TIFF image sequence files (2048 x 1024 resolution) - some of them are RED footage, and others came directly from our f/x guy. We are going into a color correction session in a post house and we've been asked to provide a sequential 16 bit TIFF image sequence of the edited time line.
    I need to do a cross dissolve b/w most of the clips I have. I have created image sequence QT movie (reference files) from the TIFF images. Though they play fine in QT player, when I try importing into FCP, I am met with a "general error". I tried both dragging it into QT, as well as File --> Import.
    I am wondering what can I do to get these clips into FCP in order to apply the cross dissolve transitions I need. Is this a problem relating to the 16bit nature of the TIFF files?
    I tried exporting the TIFF image sequence standalone QT movie, and those imported fine. However, I have a feeling that the standalone movie conversion also decrease my bit depth from 16 to 8. (When I do my final TIFF output from FCP after dissolves / transitions had been applied, each TIFF file is now 8 MB instead of 12 MB, hence my suspicion that the bit depth is adjusted).
    Are there any settings I am missing, or does FCP simply don't support 16 bit image sequence reference file. As a test, I had also converted all my TIFF to jpg, and created jpeg image sequence reference file. These reference QT file can be successfully imported to FCP and I can edit them as if they are a clip.
    If FCP is not able to handle these files, what are my other options? After Effects?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Michael
    <Edited by Moderator>

    As far as I know, both FCP and Color only support up to 10 bit color, which is 1024 levels for each color channel, more than enough for avoiding color banding.
    If you need 16 bit for sure, I believe AE will support 16 bit output. Another 16 bit application would be the extended version of Photoshop, which has some limited time line capability.

  • Virtual Copies, Stacking & Sort by File Name

    The scenario is as follows...
    I create a Virtual Copy of an image (Original & VC automatically stacked)
    The file is sorted based on the File Name of the Original file.
    I now move the Virtual Copy to the top of the stack.
    The file has been moved to the very beginning of the sort list!!!???
    Sort by File Name no longer works as expected even though the VC and the Original have the same file name.
    This behaviour is the same whether the stack is collapsed or expanded.
    File returns to correctly ordered sort position when Original is moved back to the top of the stack.
    Does anybody have an explanation for this?

  • Canvas brightness doesn't match FCP output files

    After spending hundreds of hours trying to color correct in the FCP canvas only to create output files (MPEG2 for DVDs and MOV files for online stuff) which are either too dark or too light, too saturated or too bland, I finally realized that what I'm seeing in my FCP canvas window does not match - at all - the final, compressed file when I export using Compressor to an avi, an mpeg, or a Quicktime MOV file.
    I invested in a good Gretamacbeth screen calibration device (Eye-One Display 2) only to find that the problem is not my monitor or its calibration, but the software.
    I can output to a Quicktime file and play the same clip, side-by-side, with the identical clip in FCP, as viewed through the canvas, on the same monitor. Invariably the FCP canvas image is darker, has higher contrast, and shows much richer color saturation. The Quicktime movie is too bright, and too washed-out looking in the colors compared with the FCP canvas. And when I output to an mpeg2 and author a DVD using DVD Studio Pro, and then pop the completed DVD into my Mac (or TV/DVD player) and view it, it always turns out much brighter and more washed out than what my FCP canvas had led me to believe.
    To try to compensate for this, I manually brightened my monitor somewhat and re-edited my footage, trying to boost luma and chroma levels as much as I could without exceeding broadcast standard limits, only to find that now some of the resulting DVD was oversaturated and too dark. I REALLY need an accurate canvas on which to edit; it's impossible to create anything worthwhile if I have nothing else to do than to simply guess how every clip is going to look and pray that the final result isn't too far off.
    Has anyone else encountered this? It's a real problem for me. I'm using FCP 5.04 on a dual-processor G5 with 5 GB of RAM and a dual-monitor setup - an Apple 17" monitor and an Apple 23" cinematic display.
    Any input or ideas would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!
    Powermac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

    Thanks to both of you, Steve and Shane, for your quick replies.
    I always render as I go, and I disabled overlays in the canvas long ago. And I realize that calibration is a key issue, especially for web files, and that the view produced in the FCP canvas isn't a full-resolution representation of the underlying digital file.
    But when I'm editing my actors' faces and adjusting their colors to get just the right amount of pink rosiness in their cheeks, and carefully setting the right light levels in the background, and then I output my file to any format and view the resulting file on the SAME CRT on which I did my editing, suddenly their faces have lost all their color, and the background is too light and washed out, even though I'm viewing the thing on the same screen I used to edit it.
    So no matter how my monitor is calibrated, I believe that any high-quality output file that FCP creates should resemble, at least in terms of color and brightness levels, the image I edited in the canvas moments earlier, at least if viewed on the same screen. I realize that resolution will vary and one might be more blurry or whatever; that's not the problem.
    In fact, if I use FCP to create a Quicktime file and an mpeg-2 for a DVD and then view that file on any of my PC monitors and on my television via my DVD player, it looks remarkably consistent. In other words, the output file looks fairly close, in terms of chroma and luma, when viewed either on my Mac (with the Quicktime player), my PC, or even my TV (viewed as a DVD). The only thing that looks different is if I compare this file to the file I edited, as seen on the FCP canvas, where the colors look much richer and the contrast is a lot darker. Even when viewing both files on the same computer screen, one in FCP and the other in Quicktime, the FCP one looks substantially different. Have others run into a similar problem, or is it just me? I can't believe professional editors have to resort to always guessing whether what they see in the canvas will look anything like their final FCP output, at least if they're viewing it on the same monitor.
    So I guess I'm really wondering whether there's some way to independently adjust the visible chroma and luma levels in the canvas itself, to configure them properly, so that what I see when I'm editing will more closely match the files I generate when I'm done, when viewing them both on the same screen.
    Thanks again for any light (or contrast!) you can shine on this problem.

  • Output file is different than timeline

    Hello everyone,
    This is my first post here, hope you can help me out with an issue I'm having on Premiere Elements 8.
    What happens is the following:
    I'm creating a video with a mix of movie files and still images. The format is a 16:9 Widescreen. As some files do not fit the size, I have unchecked Scale to Frame Size, and I have streched them out a bit. It doesn't look 100%, but it works fine for what I need. So, I have filled the whole black space in the timeline there with the videos and still images. I have added some pan and zooms in the still images, so it doesn't look so boring.
    Now, when I export the video, I'm doing these settings: WMV format HD 720p 30 fps 1.0 Square Pixels.
    Most of the video (98% I would say) exports perfectly. There are only 3 still images which aren't positioned as they were supposed to be. They are all too much to the right side of the screen, therefore showing the black edge on the left and cutting the right side of the image off-screen. All other still images and video files are positioned exactly as I see creating the video. I have done some tests, like 1.21 Pixels, but then it messed up the whole thing, all out of place.
    One problem is that it takes me about 1 hour to export in this WMV format HD 720p 30 fps, so for testing stuff it takes hours.
    Anyway... any clue of what could be wrong for those images to be wrong in the output file?
    I could also try another format, but this is the only one I could find which the quality was fairly good in the output file (size about 170mb). It's for a YouTube video, so I'm looking for a decent quality for a video there, about 5 minutes long, HQ.
    Well, I say beforehand than I'm a noob with video editing in general and Premiere Elements specifically. So, a little help would be extremelly important.
    Thanks a lot for reading my challenge here.
    Fernando

    Great, it worked fine now. No more weird behavior with the still images. I resized them in Photoshop Elements, and imported again into Premiere Elements. All beautiful and file size is smaller in the end.
    NOW... may I use this same thread for another novice question?
    When I'm starting a project, I'm choosing the following configuration:
    NTSC DV Widescreen
    Would I get a better result if using NTSC HDV 720p 30?
    Because at the end, I'm exporting my movie as Windows Media (.WMV) HD 720p 30.
    Thanks!

  • Can Flex make a Design Tool with a quality output file?

    Hi there,
    I have a team of developers working on a web-based design tool for a large-format print shop. They built the prototype on a Flex platform and used ImageMagick to handle text and image effects.
    Unfortunately, ImageMagick cannot produce the quality of output file we need for our products (prints up to 3 ft by 6 ft / 1m x 2m). It rasterizes all of the design objects, including text and vector clipart.
    Is it possible for Flex to handle all of these elements (object rotation, scale changes, etc.) and output a final design to high quality PDF or AI files without ImageMagick?
    I'm just not sure if my developers are missing something or if they're just not communicating the technical challenges involved in creating such large, high quality output files for a custom, web-based application.
    Many thanks in advance for any insight!

    I'm still not sure I understand what you need.  Sounds like the image map is the same for all the pages, but the image itself is different, although the images are the same size on each page.  Is that it?
    In that case, you could do this in a number of ways, but the best might be -
    Make the page have a transparent PNG/GIF image the same size as the map that has the 5 mapped areas defined on it.  Make the container for that image have a CSS BACKGROUND image that is the actual map.  Specify this CSS background image's path in an embedded stylesheet in the editable region of the head of the page.
    With this as the template, all you need to do on each page is to respecify the background image - since the embedded stylesheet is in an editable region that's do-able.  In other words the TEMPLATE would be -
    <html>
    <head>
    <!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="head">
    <style type="text/css">
    #foo {
         background-image:url(path_to_map.jpg);
         background-repeat:no-repeat;
    </style>
    <!-- TemplateEndEditable -->
    </head>
    <body>
    <div id="foo">
         <img width="map_width" height="map_height" src="transparent.png" usemap="#foomap">
    <map name="foomap">
    </map>
    </body>
    </html>
    The map image can, itself, be in an uneditable region of the page....

  • Trying a simple CC Redial Blur Effect over an image !!

    rHi,
    I am trying a tutorial at How to create a quick and easy Light Beam Effect in Adobe After Effects - YouTube which applies the CC Redial Blur effect over an image it looks very simple and straight forward but for some reason its not working for me.
    Here is the project file http://tonyalepski.heliohost.org/AE.zip
    If someone can help me figure out what is the problem that will be a great help !!
    Many thanks !!
    Tonya

    Your issue is quite simple. Tutorial author is using a PSD file with no background under the text (file with transparency) - you are using a jpg - file with gray background that is covering your rays. You have to remove background in photoshop and export it to AE without it or remove it in AE using some Keying plugins or simply masks.

  • Can I print to AdobePDF with a pre-determined output file name?

    I have a list of PDF files that I need to reduce in size. I have tried many combinations of Adobe's "Save As Reduced PDF", "Save As Optimized PDF", as well as several compression programs. The best results I've found have been to print the PDF via AdobePDF, using the standard quality settings.
    This leads me to my problem. It's simple to batch the print process to print multiple files to AdobePDF, however each one requires the user to specify the output file name. Is there a way to interface with the AdobePDF tool in a way that the output file name is already determined? I.e. passed into the program as an argument? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
         Dan
    EDIT: Under the Adobe PDF Settings, the option for Adobe PDF OUtput Folder is set for Prompt for Adobe PDF filename. There is also an option to dump to Documents\*.pdf, which retains the original filename. Is there a way to specify a different directory, rather than Documents, while retaining the *.pdf argument? Again, thank you.

    You would probably get better results printing from Acrobat. The HTMLLoader rasterizes the image first. You could possibly add a JavaScript function inside the PDF that prints and call that from your AIR app.
    See http://www.adobe.com/devnet/air/flex/quickstart/scripting_pdf.html for information on calling JS functions in a pdf file from AIR.

  • How can I view only my stacked images?

    I batch process my stacks of  bracketed files. However, they are usually intermingled with plenty of non-bracketed single shots. I am looking for a more elegant way to view ONLY the stack I created?
    Despite surfacing in the forums over the last few years there seems to be no solution other than to label all your stacks with colors or keywords, etc. then filtering.
    Does anyone have a better way yet???
    If not ADOBE: please put this on the list of enhancements. With all the people using HDR this seems like a logical feature now.
    Thank you,
    Kevin

    Kevin,
    John Beardy's Search Replace Transfer PlugIn provides (among others) a function called "Parse&Audit". After you've run this function on all your images, you have a metadata-filter column "Stack Position" available on which you can filter:
    Beside StackPosition, these columns are also populated during Parse&Audit:
