Blurred Text in Exported SWF

I have created a project using C3 and when I export all of
the text appears blurred or bold.
You can see one slide from my project and published swf from
the following link
untitled.zip
Any help to get this looking better would be greatly
appreciated....
Thanks.

Hi Andrew and welcome to our community
Looks as if this is something you imported from PowerPoint,
no? Assuming I'm correct with this, you are seeing a slight
degradation because Captivate is resizing the background as it
comes in. There are a couple of things you can do here.
1. You could reconfigure your PowerPoint presentation to
display in a window, then simply record it using Captivate as you
play it back. That should result in crystal clear slides.
2. This one was offered by Kevin Siegel in his newsletter:
Let's assume that your Captivate projects are all set up at
800 x 600 pixels and you've been asked to import a PowerPoint
presentation that was set up at 8 x 10 inches. There is no way
Captivate can effectively resize or convert the 8 x 10 inch
PowerPoint document down to 800 x 600 pixels--the sizes are not
proportional.
The trick is to get the PowerPoint presentation resized to
800 x 600 before you import it into Captivate. However,
PowerPoint's Page Setup is in inches, not in pixels. How are you
going to make the conversion? In your head? A fancy conversion
table? I don't think so. Try this instead.
1. Open the Captivate project that will be receiving the
PowerPoint presentation
2. Right-click any slide and choose Copy Background
3. Switch to PowerPoint and create a new presentation
4. Choose Edit > Paste to paste the Captivate background
into the PowerPoint presentation as an image
5. Right-click the image and choose Format Picture
6. On the Size tab, notice the Height and Width of the
picture (you should write the numbers down now)
7. Click Cancel and close the PowerPoint presentation
8. Open the PowerPoint presentation you intend to import
into Captivate
9. Choose File > Page Setup
10. Change the Width and Height to match the size of the
picture (you did write those numbers down, didn't you?)
11. Click OK
12. Go through your PowerPoint presentation. You may need to
adjust some of the text if the new size is dramatically different
from the original size
13. Save and close the PowerPoint presentation
14. Back in Captivate, open a Captivate project that is the
same size as the PowerPoint presentation you resized (in the
example above, that would be 800x600 pixels).
15. Choose File > Import > PowerPoint Slides.
16. Open the PowerPoint presentation you resized earlier.
After the import process, you'll notice that the size of the
imported PowerPoint slides match your existing Captivate slides. In
addition, the image quality of the backgrounds should be pretty
darned good--much better than you would see if you tried the old
method, which was essentially trying to coax a round-peg into a
square hole.
Hopefully something here was useful... Rick

  • How to set a loop on an .flv so that an exported .swf loops?

    hi there. i am using Flash CS4 and I would like to know how to set a loop in an flv file so that when it is exported to swf, the movie will loop. Basically i have taken an existing interactive flash movie and have decompiled it into its individual flv counterparts. what i intend to do is take out all the nonsense from each flv file and then reconstruct the flash movie, export each file to swf and then convert each swf to avi or some other video format. to do this i will be using sothink swf to avi converter which allows you to convert swf files to avi files. this program allows you to convert swf files that loop by looping the swf file for as long as you want until you stop it, in which a video file is created from "the recording"
    after i decompiled the original file, many of the existing flv files were already set to loop. i know this because when exported to swf the swf file would loop. now when i went ahead and went into each flv file to edit a couple things, when i went to export them to swf, the swf files wouldn't loop. mind you, some of them did loop, and some of them did not loop. the ones i have edited are all supposed to loop and i cannot figure out what it is thats preventing some of the flv or exported swf files to loop. all i did was take out a few unnecessary frames from the beginning of each flv and nothing more. i am pretty new to Flash and do not know anything about coding and know very little about flash settings.
    i figured that selecting the "loop playback" option in the control drop down menu might help seeing as the flv file does loop when played in the editor, but again when exported to swf the swf file does not loop. what confuses me the most is that some of the exported swf files do loop. ALL of the exported swf files need to loop and my guess is that in order to make that happen, something in the flv file needs to be set correctly.
    can someone please assist me with this issue? if there is a way to simply loop an existing swf file that does not loop, can someone tell me how to do that? any help with this problem is greatly appreciated and i appologize if something like this has been asked before.... i just couldnt stand looking through 22 pages of search results to find the exact solution to my problem
    thank you!!!

    Hi,
    You can use shortDesc property. Something like
    <af:commandToolbarButton text="Some Button"
          id="ctb1" shortDesc="This button does something.."/>-Arun

  • Exported swf formatting differs from preview mode

    When I view a model in preview mode, everything looks fine with the formatting.  However, after exporting the file (or viewing the export preview), some of the formatting is incorrect - such as axes labels and titles being truncated or moved from their original position, as well as grid sizes changing so that what I have aligned no longer is aligned.
    I can make formatting adjustments in the model so that it appears more properly in the exported swf file, basically correcting for these differences.  However, this is obviously not ideal, and I have not been able to identify any patterns in these discrepancies (sometimes it looks fine, other time not).  I appreciate any suggestions!

    Hi,
    I am facing the same issue too. The whole formatting goes off once exported to ppt. The fonts reduce to such an extent that I cannot see the fonts. If I drag the swf component to full screen in ppt, the labels, come over the axes.
    Please let me know how to correct it.

  • How to export swf file in different versions of flash like (6,7,8,9) ?

    Hi,
        System Specification :
        -XP with SP3
        -MS Office 2003
        -Flash V.10
        -Xcelsius Engage 2008 ( 5.3.0.0 )
        -Xcelsius Build number 12,3,0,670
       When I export output in swf format then xcelsius generating swf file of version 9.  I want to export swf file in different versions of flash like (6,7,8,9) .  I tried to install older versions of flash to do this but I am not able to open xcelsius in older version. I am getting error saying 'Install latest flash player'.
    Is there any way to export  swf files in different  versions?
    Is this build is compatible with only flash 10?
    Thanks,
    Ganesh

    Xcelsius only support Flash version from 9 on. There is no way to export to 6,7 or 8.

  • Why does my exported swf show more content than actually on frame?

    Why does my exported .swf show more content than actually on frame?
    My problem is relatively simple, though, I had some trouble finding a solution to it:
    When I play my exported animation using flash player in Google Chrome, if the window is bigger than the resolution flash document/frame, it shows content not meant to show up on the frame -- like parts of a huge background that aren't supposed to show up yet.
    In other words, how do I constraint the .swf to the white background/document resolution?

    Anyone? I'd appreciate it if someone replied soon -- I am done with my project once this issue is resolved, and I am excited to publish it.
    Please respond if you have any useful knowledge on the matter!
    Thanks!

  • InDesign Conditional text batch export with TOC update

    Hello Everyone,
    I'm just getting into the scripting, so bear with me please.
    I have an indesign document with several conditional text variations and a generated Table Of Contents. I've found -hans-'s batch exporting script which works perfectly, BUT, in my document there are conditional headings too, which have their impact on the TOC of course and sadly indesign's toc update is not live. So all I need, is add a line (or 2) in the script that selects and updates the TOC for me before exporting each PDF. I've tried labeling the TOC text frame (with script label) and invoke a menu action on it, but I think I didn't get the Syntax right. I guess for someone experienced this is a really simple task.
    Here is -hans-'s Conditional text batch exporting script:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4764443
    thanks for your help!
    wood1y

    Hi,
    Thank you for your answer. This is my syntax so far. All I did to -hans-'s script was, I tried to create a variable with a text frame that has the "TOC" label, select it with a .select action (found it on a forum) that doesn't work, and tried to invoke the update toc with app.scriptMenuActions.itemByID(71442).invoke(); which doesn't work either. So yes, as I told you, I'm a beginner.
    var nameOfThePDFExportPresetYouWantToUse = 'DiscManual' //please don't forget to set!
    var currDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var currFilePath = currDoc.filePath.absoluteURI + '/';
    var currFileName = currDoc.name.replace(/.indd/, '');
    var currConditions = currDoc.conditions;
    var myTOC = currDoc.textFrames.item("TOC")
    //set all conditions visible to false
    currConditions.everyItem().visible = false;
    l = currConditions.length;
    //cycle thru conditions
    while(l--){
    currCondition =  currConditions[l];
    //set actual condition visible to true
    currCondition.visible = true;
    currConditionName = currCondition.name
    //select TOC
    myTOC.select();
    //update TOC
    app.scriptMenuActions.itemByID(71442).invoke();
    //set pdfName
    var exportTo = File(currFilePath + currFileName + '_' + currConditionName +'.pdf');
    //Have a look here:
    //export PDF. to choose backgroundexport. use the second line of code
    //currDoc.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, exportTo,false,  nameOfThePDFExportPresetYouWantToUse);
    currDoc.asynchronousExportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, exportTo,false,  nameOfThePDFExportPresetYouWantToUse);
    //set actual condition visible to false
        currCondition.visible = false;

  • Blurred text in preview

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to revive a previous post. Essentially I'm having a problem with blurred text in preview, similar to this post from last year: https://discussions.apple.com/message/10895578 . Also, here's mine (https://discussions.apple.com/message/16092409), and I haven't received replies.. but what the previous discussion thread shows is exactly the same issue I'm having. Has anyone seen this blurred/smeared text in Preview/Quicklook before? and were you able to fix it?? It only happens with PDFs (and NOT present in Adobe Acrobat/Reader)..
    It wouldn't be so annoying if it wasn't that Mail.app uses preview also and I often get work PDFs mailed to me.
    Any fixes??
    Thanks!

    I'm having the same issue viewing PDF's....
    It seems to work fine with Adobe Reader, just not in Preview.

  • Export SWF from AE CS6

    I used to be able to export SWF files directly from AE CS3. But am having difficulty performing that same task in CS6. Under FILE/EXPORT there is an option to choose "Adobe Flash Player (SWF)". However, when I output the file it appears to start rendering, then almost immediately the render window dissapears. I don't receive any kind of error message at all. It simply creates an SWF file with no content in it. Does anyone have an idea what the issue might be?

    I have the emails from Adobe in regards to this bug. Here is the email I received:

  • Is there an replacement to exporting .swf in After Effects CC?

    Is there an replacement to exporting .swf in After Effects CC? I created an animation I am using for a app prototype in InDesign. It worked great last year, on another project, but now all I see are Quicktime and other video formats which isn't really the same thing. I need a file that will work with InDesign that can export into HTML. I could make an interactive PDF which will play quicktime but thats not as cool. Any alternatives? Anyway to get After Effects into HTML, short of using Edge instead?

    I think I answered my own question. H.264 Video via Media Encoder. Any other comments on best practices welcome.

  • What Frame Rate does Catalyst export .SWF at?

    What Frame Rate does Catalyst export .SWF at?
    When I import a SWF file from Catalyst into another flash program, won't display never mind play, the error I get is that the frame rates don't match,
    therefore I need to know what  frame rate it exports at?

    If you have a SWF created by Catalyst, and you're using that SWF in something you're creating with Flash Builder or Flash Pro, then I think frame rate shouldn't matter. But maybe if you can give more details I could help more... Which flash program are you importing the SWF into, what commands or code are you using to do the import? Is there an error message or alert, if so what does it say? Any info you can provide will be helpful.
    Thanks

  • How to click button in exported SWF to go to frame in parent SWF?

    I looked online, but couldn't find anything helpful.   I got these codes on the web, but they're not working.... (I'm pretty new to flash).
    projectgallery.swf - PARENT SWF
    projectgallery_cutLimestone.swf - EXPORT SWF
    returnToAlbums_btn_inst - instance of a button on the export swf that I want to be able to click to go to a different frame in the parent SWF
    Here are my codes:
    on the parent SWF:
    import flash.display.MovieClip;
    import flash.events.MouseEvent;
    var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    var url:URLRequest = new URLRequest("projectgallery_cutlimestone.swf");
    myLoader.load(url);
    function loadHandler (event:Event) {
              var projectgallery_cutlimestone:MovieClip = event.target.content;
              addChild(myLoader);
              trace(projectgallery_cutlimestone);

                        projectgallery_cutlimestone.returnToAlbums_btn_inst.play();
              projectgallery_cutlimestone.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, returnToAlbums);
    myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE,loadHandler);

    I'm really new to flash, so I don't know why it's not working.  The instance is labeled (I double-checked).

  • Adding a SWC to a exported swf via a CS Extension

    Hi,
    I'm building a extension for Flash, and I'd like to be able add a swc file to a exported swf, that is generated through my Extension. I know that in the Flash JS extension language you can export a swf using:
    fl.getDocumentDOM().exportSWF("", true);
    As part of the export process can I add a SWC file, that contains code my CS extension needs to inject into the generated swf file. I did think that I could use:
    document.externalLibraryPath
    To point to a SWC file that is added to the published swf.
    What I want to do is add meta data to the Flash file that can be accessed externally at runtime, so I mark areas of the SWF that are updated dynamically at runtime.
    Are these ideas possible?
    Thanks
    Stephen

    That's not a possibility in this beta, however you might find this plug-in useful: http://www.photographers-toolbox.com/products/lrmogrify2.php  It'll allow you to set the size in pixels using the export dialog and add borders of your choice.

  • Exported SWFs have reduced detail

    Hi there,
    We are having an issue with Flash Pro CC - one of several now - in that when we export out our SWFs for compositing, they do not have the same quality - so smoothlines are replaced by jagged lines, beautiflu curves are replaced by hard edges.
    When we export to PNGs or JPEGS everything is fine, but in our pipeline we need to use SWFs.
    Does anyone have the same issue and if so do they have a fix for these exported SWFs?
    Thank you

    I mentioned that we do this already in After Effects.
    The issue is not with AE, it's with the SWFs themselves when they run in Flash Player at full quality.
    The smoothed fills look jagged.
    I want to know if there is some kind of quality filter in Flash for exporting out the SWFs as at the moment it appears to be broken - I am assuming this is due to the constant inundation of X.x.x releases of CC rather than a solid point release with less bugs and more fixes.

  • Blur settings on export

    I shoot all of my organ recital dvds on Sony EX cameras 1920x1080 25i
    A lot of the footage is of cathedral architecture involving lots of fine horizontal lines. This all looks fine in HD but when converted to SD for the dvd I get flickering on the fine detail during camera tilts and pans. I have tried both using Premiere and AVIsynth HD2SD for the down conversion both with the same results. In the end I add blur in the export settings (4 vertical works best) to take the edge off the detail. How do other editors get round this problem?
    Richard Knight

    That's a shame.
    Personally I think it's time for one worldwide standard.  Consumers and Broadcast will acquire and display at 2592 x 1080, at exactly 24 or 48 fps (with the option to repeat frames during display, such as TVs that can do 72 or 96 Hz).  Digital Cinema will acquire and present at 5184 x 2160, at exactly 24 or 48 fps (also leaving room for frame repeating during presentation).
    BDXL will be the new disk format, and will offer all current BD formats plus the new Consumer/Broadcast standard.  The Cinema standard will remain apart, keeping a reason for folks to actually go out to see a movie on the big screen.
    This makes things very simple and unified.  It offers a very respectable consumer/broadcast resolution for the next 100 years, as well as an excellent quality Cinema resolution (which is very easily downcovnerted for consumer/broadcast delivery).  It presents a much more workable 2.4 aspect ratio that eliminates almost all letterboxing and replaces it with the more desirable pillarboxing.  (After all, the whole point of widescreen was to show more, not to show less.  The vertical resolution should be the constant here, with the horizontal being the one to change with the aspect ratio.)  It eliminates all interlacing.  It simplifies and unifies frame rates that work for all scenarios - Cinema, TV, Sports, etc.  It eliminates all conversions between countries of origin and countries of distribution.  It's entirely technically feasible with flat-panel technology, regardless of your country's power source.
    It should be called CTV -  CinemaTV.
