Blurry Bitmaps
Hi, I'm in the process of exporting a video file (.mts) into a sequence of still images (windows bitmap). I've done it several times before and had no issues whatsoever. However, I am now experiencing problems. When I go through the exact same process, the majority of the images are blurred beyond recognition (see attached). Can anyone offer insight as to what might be the problem? Thanks.
Hi,
Hehehe..."The Book" is now really TWO (2) books... But may generically (sp?) be referred to as: The Book.
Book A = Troubleshooting, Definitions, Specifications.
Book B = Program related Tutorials, Articles explaining processes, "HELP" files from Premiere (currently up to editing basics)
When I go through a specific process of input and export of certain types of Video successfully I will make notes and take screenshots of settings. The notes will also include what DID NOT WORK in general. That stuff goes into back part of Book B. There is a method to the placement but it gets moved around (edited) once in a while ...Fine Tuned, you might say.
Articles on exposure, relative ISO of film to Db levels of video, with 32k or 55k lighting..such as today's goes into Book B.
However, stuff like "Quality Control Issues", by Hunt goes into Book A.

the bitmap font 'bitLight 10' looks good in most places in my
movie.
in other places it's a bit blurry. a sentence in a paragraph
will be blurry for instance, but the rest will be perfect.
any ideas? could it be a bad, corrupt font file?by the way, i am using mx2004. still in the dark ages over

Blurry Bitmap text (no anti-alias) on Button Symbols
Hello,
Can someone please explain when making a button symbol using
Arial then exporting as an .swf why the font exports blurry and not
sharp?
Thanks.first, do you have alias text on or off in the property
window? second are you scaling the button, third are you scaling
the movie, fourth are you making sure the text exists at an integer
x and y location, sometimes texts looks funny when it's place at
1.1 pixels rather then 1.0, and fifth make sure your eye glass
proscription is still up to date! all these things could be
contributing to the blurring of the font. -
Printing a pdf created in Pages 09
I created a newsletter in Pages 09 (already bailed on the "upgrade" which can't even link text boxes). I converted it to a pdf so that it can be printed on a Xerox work centre 7535. The colors do not match those on screen - the are much darker/grayer/muddy. Also, the photos are blurry/bitmapped. Any suggestions?
Message was edited by: DianeAThe 7535 uses autocolor sensing and will do CMYK colors when specified from the Pages color picker, you may have sent sRGB instead. What resolution photos did you place in your Pages document? There are also four printer resolutions that can be set:
Toner Saver - 600x600 dpi with limits on maximum saturation
Standard - 600 x 600 dpi with 256 half-tone levels
Enhanced - Raster image processing at 600x600 dpi with 8 bits/pixel. Halftone creation with resolution enhancement and LED marking at 1200x2400 dpi with 256 halftone levels.
High Resolution - 1200x1200 dpi with 256 halftone levels
You are using the Oct. 13, 2013 OS X print drivers for the built-in controller and the 2013 drivers and patches for the EFI Fiery controller?
WorkCentre warmed up?

A way to change metrics to 1 digit after comma?
Hello. I have just noticed Flash CC is using 2 digits after comma, and im just wondering if there is a way to change it to use only 1? In my work i ususally have to avoid having any other digit after comma in symbols position other than 0 and got used to quickly running trough tabs and stroking "end" and "backspace" to make everything more even so its sharper, now when there are 2 digits i have to stroke backspace twice (and many times forgeting about it due to years old habit). For some of you it might sound trivial problem, but when you multiply it by bazilions of stuff i have to do with deadline "yestarday" every bit of stuff i have to do even bit longer in the long run gives me a lot of wasted time. Its not a big problem, but would be awesome if i could make it easier.
And while im on that "quality of life" question for someoen who has to make millions of banners very fast:
Is there a way to make objects moving snap to integer positions? SO when i move them around the workspace, they dont land on non-round positions? I would like to avoid putting them on for example: 10.70 - 230.40 but on 10 - 230. Would really appreciate any tip of how to do that.
I have already tryied "snap to grid" and" snap to pixels" but it just puts it on half of pixels like 10.5 - 230.5 and that results in blurry bitmaps. -
i had problems with blurry bitmap fonts regardless of using
snap to pixels and whole numbers.
i finally chose to make the text selectable. i don't know if
that is a graceful solution but it works.
if somebody has a better solution i may have overlooked i

Blurry text using Bitmap text (pixelfont) alternative
I've placed a bitmap text (no anti-alias) inside a movieclip
and it looks crisp and clean when exported to swf.
Now I have dragged a copy of that movieclip on stage
and it becomes blurry/fuzzy as soon as I export it to swf
(the original is still clean/crisp)
Why is this happening and how do I solve the problem?
Thx for listening/AquaStealthDo you use a pixelfont? Whats the font name? If you use
pixelfont it needs
to be placed at exact X-Y position (non-comma value)

Bitmap Font gets blurry when its swf is loaded into a movie clip
I have a gallery i'm working on, located here:
http://www.stationarynotes.com/portfolio/Gallery.html
If you click the first button (the one that looks like a
splattered "S" in black ink) you'll see that my bitmap text gets
rendered all blurry. That swf which is being loaded renders fine
when I test it by itself. The text is positioned with whole numbers
and aligns to the grid within its own swf, and the movie clip which
receives it is also positioned with whole numbers. Do you think
perhaps when it is loaded into another MC it is being pushed off of
the grid somehow...? I'm really confused.
I can post my .flas if that'll help.bitmap fonts look best when positioned on a whole pixel
number (100.0 instead of 100.4 for example).
If you are loading into an empty clip - try placing that clip
on the nearest whole number. or you
could load the external swf to a level with will position it
at 0,0 (upper left corner of stage).

Loaded external SWF gets blurry fonts/bitmaps
Hi all
When i load an external swf file it looses quality and
renders blurry. But the swf itself (the external one) looks
perfectly fine standalone. Now i ask myself, is this really a
flashbug or what the heck is it?
Because i wrote an elearning player wich references hundreds
of this files, its not very funny to see the quality dropping. To
get some meat for you, i created a small site, wich should make the
problem much clearer:
Click here and
explore the strange bug
If anybody has some useful information about it, i am more
than glad to hear it!
tks for all the fish and goodbye
rogerHow was the swf generated? If you were using Camtasia Studio,
there are
issues with using Flash 8 player.

Cs6 3D axis widget showing up blurry/fuzzy
My 3D axis widget was showing fine( solid, clear, and visible in front of the mesh I was working on), but now It has started to switch between normal and Blurry/Fuzzy( as if it is sitting behind the mesh and the whole scene). It is very difficult to see sometimes and even more s to access it. Does anyone know of this problem, and if so, how t correct it? Also any troubleshooting advice would be helpful too.

Adobe AIR for Android - GPU Mode - Bitmap Auto-Smoothing Issue
Hi everyone
I'm having a bit of an issue with the AS3 bitmap object. I'm currently developing an 8-bit style pixel game for AIR for Android.
This game is being developed at a very low resolution and is being scaled up to maintain the charm of an old retro game.
One of the methods I'm using is drawing pixels directly to bitmap objects and scaling the object up to create the old look.
When testing on a mobile device, this works beautifully when you set the rendering method to Direct but when you change
the render method to GPU the visuals go all blurry and anti-aliased (it's as if the bitmap is being smoothed out). The mini map
for example is rendered using the setPixel method and then scaled up 9 times. Looks great on my PC but once I export it to my phone
it looks absolutely awful! This is no good as I want to keep the clean, solid pixel look to maintain the the old 8-bit feel and obviously
I'd like to stick to GPU mode due to it's speed.
Like I said, this only happens once you test on a mobile device in GPU mode - it doesn't do it on my main desktop machine or
in Direct mode. I already have the stage quality set to low and I've tried setting the bitmap's smoothing property to false but
it does nothing.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get around this?How about first blit your image to a small bitmapData, then draw it on a large bitmapData (9X larger)?
Like,
var small_bmd:BitmapData = new BitmapData(SMALL_WIDTH, SMALL_HEIGHT, false);
var large_bmd:BitmapData = new BitmapData(SMALL_WIDTH * 9, SMALL_HEIGHT * 9, false);
var bm:Bitmap = new Bitmap(large_bmd, PixelSnapping.NEVER, false);
var blitRect:Rectangle = new Rectangle(0, 0, 9, 9);
var i:uint, j:uint, blitColor:uint;
small_bmd.draw(SOURCE_IMAGE);
large_bmd.lock();
for(j = 0; j < SMALL_HEIGHT; j++){
for(i = 0; i < SMALL_WIDTH; i++){
blitColor = small_bmd.getPixel(i, j);
blitRect.x = i * 9;
blitRect.y = j * 9;
large_bmd.fillRect(blitRect, blitColor);
large_bmd.unlock();
Not sure if the code works or not, but hopefully this helps. -
SOLVED Blurry/Ghosting LCD with Nvidia-96xx
Hi all,
I've spent hours trying to figure this out... I installed the Nvidia-96xx driver for my Geforce2 MX/MX 400 and everything seems ok in my xorg.conf. XFCE comes up with the right resolution (1280x1024 Dell 1702fp), but everything is blurry. When i use the Nvidia X Server Settings application, it looks like everything is running correctly - 1280x1024 @ 60hz. But this doesn't seem right, because otherwise everything wouldn't look so blurry. And I do mean everything - fonts, icons, etc.
So I did a bunch of reading and decided to try xrandr. Well, that seems like a fairly cool command, but it didn't really solve my problem. However, it did confirm my suspicions that one of these programs is giving me the wrong information, since the only 1280x1024 resolution it gives me is at a 50* 51 refresh rate. I tried changing the rate with:
xrandr -r 60
It wouldn't let me do it. It says:
"Rate not available for this size"
I'm really kind of puzzled about this, I've tried three different ways of generating xorg.conf files (Xorg -configure, xorgconfig, nvidia-xconfig) and they all give me the right resolution, but the wrong refresh rate. For some reason linux wants to run things at 50hz...
I'd post more information up here, but I'm not sure what you would want to see. I'm pretty sure it's not the xorg.conf...
Hope you guys can help.

I've been trying different things with the xorg.conf file, but nothing I do seems to help. I tried adding in some of the things you had in yours, like the EDID option and now my xorg.conf looks like this:

Apart from the warnings "No modes were requested ..." and "option "UseEDIDfreqs=false" is not used" nothing looks that bad to me. Any ideas? This is what I see in xfce:
http://img299.imageshack.us/img299/5268 … ot2dk6.png
I also tried using the gtf output a few times and that didn't work either. I'm starting to wonder if it's a hardware problem. Seems kind of subtle for a malfunctioning graphics card though, doesn't it?
Thanks again -
Why is svg output blurry?
Dear Apple Support Community,
I have a vexing problem with SVG files. It seems that something about OS X does not interpret SVG files properly, nor any vector-graphics derivative of a SVG file. The problem is that the embedded bitmap component of the SVG file becomes blurry.
Ultimately, I would like to create professional looking PDF files using the following steps:
Create image using MATLAB (R2014b).
Save image as SVG file.
Edit image using Inkscape.
Save as PDF.
The following is an example of these steps, and how it goes wrong.
Step 1, create image in Matlab.
This is a screenshot of Matlab's rendering:
Step 2, Save this figure as a SVG file using 'Save As' in the Matlab figure menu.
This produces a SVG file that looks very different depending on what program is used to view it.
This is Inkscape's rendering of the SVG file:
With a close up to show that the vector graphics component was saved and interpreted properly:
However, Finder's quick look (activated using spacebar) of the SVG file produces something quite different:
The problem persists if I use Inkscape to open the SVG file, and then convert that file to a PDF.
The following screenshot shows Preview's rendering of the PDF output from Inkscape:
Of course, if Inkscape is used to export a bitmap rasterization of the SVG file, then everything looks nice in Preview:
But at the expense of the vector graphics, as can be seen when zoomed in:
I would like to know how to configure either OS X or my SVG files so that Preview, Pages, and other Apple software render the SVG-to-PDF images properly.
Kind regards,
this_username_is_takenHello cbouldt!

[SOLVED]Infinality - blurry font
After installing arch new with old /home I installed under Xfce the following
freetype2-git-infinality lib32-freetype2-git-infinality freetype2-infinality
and the font got blurry.
On firefox it's looking ugly as well, here're some examples:
krusader, http://imgur.com/jbxuC
libreoffice, http://imgur.com/vEapa - menu shows only rectangles
Installed xf86-video-ati 1:7.0.0-1 and xorg-server 1.13.0-4.

I have problems with freetype2-git-infinality, too, so I installed stable + fontconfig-infinality-git to get rid of the fontconfig warnings:
fontconfig-infinality-git
freetype2-infinality
lib32-freetype2-infinality
That's working for me, thx Doc! -
Fuzzy or blurry text...sometimes
Hello,
We are currently working on a online project where we have several Captivate projects created by different authors using the same template. When one of the authors publishes her project, the text does not look as sharp. Blurry or fuzzy is the best way to describe it.
The weird thing is, if I take the same project file and publish it on my computer, the text looks fine. It is not a matter of screen quality as the project files published by me and others look fine on all computers, and the ones published by her look blurry or fuzzy on all computers.
We are using Captivate 4, and Windows XP, and we are publishing to Flash 9 with HTML.
Any thoughts or ideas?
Thanks,
TimHi there
The reason it looks blurry is because you are presenting it at a different size that it was recorded at. I know it's Flash output, but with some Flash output the imagery is presented using Vectors. (Instructions to the computer on how to draw items) With Vector images, things look sharp at any size. Captivate uses Bitmaps. Bitmaps are a grid of PixEls (Picture Elements). Each PixEl is a different color. The mosiac produced makes the image. When you resize, you either subtract PixEls or you add them. When this happens, the computer has to calculate new color values. A loss of clarity inevitably results.
Hopefully this helps... Rick
