Blurry images when PDF is exported

I'm making a style guide and my images were drawn in Flash CS5.
When I export them to png they're 72 dpi and when I import them into InDesign, the images are fine and clear until I export it as a PDF.
I have other images that were collected from the internet and they're fine and also the images I scanned in are fine and clear as well.
The pdf is only for screen use.
How do I fix this?
(I'm using a Mac btw)
Thanks.

And you will get a better on-screen representation if you do not alter the graphic's aspect. You've stretched the image to fit the space. The screen shot is your PDF and mine. The left one is mine, the right bear is yours. Both are inside Acrobat and displaying at 100%.
Take care, Mike

I have a problem when converting files that have images to

    Hello christinewhite,
    Thanks for your posting
It is unclear which application you're using to perform the
    PDF creation..
If you are not using Acrobat.com, I would suggest giving it a
    try.
If you are using Acrobat pro, then you should know that these

  • Blurry Images When Saved In Illustrator CC

    Hi,
I've been trying to figure this out for weeks, but can't figure it out. I'm trying to create a new logo and now that I've created it, I try to save it and once saved, It looks very blurry/fuzzy. But in illustrator it looks excellent! It's just in the saved copy that looks horrible. I'm new to using Illustrator, and still in the process of learning, I know it's probably something simple to my problem however I've read every forum related on the internet and even on here and all the solutions that have helped others don't work for me... I'm just metally drained and don't know to do, Any help to solve this problem would be helpful.
    -Illustrator CC
    -Macbook Pro Retina -late 2013
If there's anything else that you would like to know please let me know. I've tried every possible format just about for the logo to be saved as. Even in the browser preview mode in save for web, it looks horrible. I'm needing this logo to be saved as jpeg, png, or something relative.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Michael

It isn't really something that requires a 'fix' as such - sadly the number of people with Retina displays is still quite small and most of the time devices use some clever upsampling jiggery-pokery that makes the graphics look better.
I have another question for you, now - when you are exporting your image file from Illustrator, are you changing the anti-aliasing settings to Art Optimised? If this is all news to you, are you using the Export for Microsoft Office option? Or Save For Web?
Sorry to have to ask but it helps in helping you.

  • Blurry images when I combine files into a PDF with Acrobat

I have created 4 files in Photoshop with a combination of graphics and text.  I am trying to make a PDF that can be emailed, so it only has to look good onscreen.  I have saved each file in numorous ways (jpg, tiff, pdf, bmp etc...) I have eliminated any compression.  When I pull the files up individually they look great, but when I try and combine them in a PDF the images get blurry.  I have selected the largest file size, change compression for jpg (and the others) in acrobat. I can't figure out what I am missing.  Why do the files look good until I combine them?

A little confusing. How to eliminate compression when using JPG or PDF?
If you export the images from Photoshop to PDF, will they look good on screen? If so, and you import and combine in Acrobat, they should not be changed, unless you select "Save as optimised PDF", because then optimisation settings could re-encode the images to lower resolution.

  • Blurry Images when Placing

When I place images on triggers or slideshows or anything in general, the images appear at a very low quality and very blurry (even if I don't re-size them in Muse). My images are 300dpi and I've tried placing both jpgs and pngs. But the resolution is very bad when I place them. How can I fix this?

giulial92162650 perhaps turn off the "Convert opaque PNG to JPEG" option in the Content panel of Site Properties?

  • Blurry images when zooming in Survey & Grid View

When I am in Survey View and hit the Z key, some of  the previews are blurry.  The same thing happens in Grid View.  However, in Loupe View, the images are fine when I the 'Z' key.  Using Survey View would make things go faster when making my picks.  Any ideas why this happens?
I tried rendering 1:1 but the returns a mesage that says renders are up to date and rendering was done.

This is definitely a bug. I can see it too, and it's little bit annoying. LR 4.1, Win7 x64.
To reproduce just select two images, render 1:1 previews to be shure they are present.
Then press 'N' to switch to Survey mode, and now press 'Z' to zoom in active photo.
It gets zoomed, but looks like LR zooms in standard (smaller) preview instead of using 1:1 preview - the result is blurry and a little pixelated, it definitely lacks resolution.
But when in the Loupe view (switch view using 'E') and zooming all work just fine - the image is at full resolution and is sharp.
And even if I switch from Survey to Loupe with zoomed in image - it still stays blurry.
To get sharp image I need to zoom out and then zoom in again.
So in short - it looks like 1:1 preview is used only when image is zoomed in from the Loupe view.
At least others seem to experience the same thing so I know it's not just me.  I'd say it's more than a little bit annoying because it causes you to second guess yourself and you constantly have to switch to a view to see if the image is actually sharp or not.  It really slows down the workflow.

  • BLURRY images when I Modify speed in 29.97 timeline with 24p footage

I am modifying the speed of a clip - only to 90% - and parts of
the clip appear blurry after I render.
Any ideas why? What can I do?
    Thank you in advance!

Is it 24p footage with 3:2 pulldown or, just 24p media?
Either way, you're in for a fun time.....
for 24p with 3:2 pulldown, first use Cinema Tools to remove the pulldown. Now, use Cinema Tools to conform it to 2.9.97fps. Now take it into your timeline and adjust the speed.
For 24p media, just conform it in Cinema Tools to 29.97fps, and then pu in your timeline and adjust the speed.
What you're doing is avoiding having FCP convert the 24p to 29.97fps by adding frames, before it gets to the speed change. Similarly, 24p with 3:2 pulldown must have it's pulldown removed before you can do a speed change.
This should make things nicer for you!

  • Blurry Images When Transferring to InDesign

    Hi,
I am attempting to transfer some images from PS to ID. Each time I do, I notice the images become blurred. No matter how big I make the image in PS, they always transfer pixelated. I try different formats, JPEGs, PSD, PNGs, all seem to do the same thing. Any ideas why?

Right click the image in Indesign, and choose Display Performance > High Quality Display. You can set this globally in Preferences.
Be aware that Indesign will only display a preview, and never the full image. And BTW, it is best to use the Place command to insert images in ID, copy & paste is not recommended.

  • Blurry images in LR 5.3 Slideshow

I am having a problem with LR 5.3 creating very, very blurry images in a slideshow exported to a 720p mp4. Not all will be blurry, just random. And they are very blurry. Like it did not render the preview. Never had this problem before updating to 5.3.
Here is a screen shot of a blurred one.
And the next image in the slideshow, wich is just fine.
    Any ideas?

Bob Somrak, I forgot to turn off the Export Negatives check box.
So I did the Export as Catalog and it came up with 3992 in All Photographs and 3991 in the file totals. So it got rid of the 10 extra pictures.  I then had it syncronize the top level folder and it found and imported 10 photos.  So I now have 4002 pictures and it is displaying 4002 pictures.  4002 is the total LR said I was supposed to have in the old catalog before I did the export, but it would only display 3992.  Unfortunatly, I still have the problem that it thinks the sidecar files are missing.  It does not seem to make any difference to anything, so maybe I should just not worry about that.
Thank you very much for your help!
I have two calalogs with family photos in them, I will now see if it will let me merge them.

  • Pages 5.0.1 rotates images when exporting PDF

In two sperate occasions I have inserted an image into a table cell, and also a shape.  I've scaled the image to the size of my liking.  When I exported the document to PDF (file > Export to > PDF) the PDF displays the images rotated 90 degrees and stretched to fill the size of the cell, or shape.

I thought Pages 5 doesn't allow image insertion in Table cells?
Has this changed in Pages 5.01?
Either case it still seems buggy.

  • Keep actual image size when rotating and exporting to PDF

When one rotates an image in a non-right angle in InDesign, the resulting image in the PDF, even if looks the same size of the original image when compared save for being rotated, actually shrink in size. That's noticieable when one saves the image from the PDF as the rotated image appears rotated inside the same size of the original, rather than being larger. I fear it may cause some quality loss at print. Is there any workaround around it?
Or it is just a previsualization glitch and the file prints normal? (as while importing the PDF in Illustrator seems to keep the original resolution of the image)

    Peroyomas wrote:

I can't see a difference in size between two copies of the same image when one is rotated in a non-right angle and the other is at zero rotation.
From the way your question is worded, I'm not sure what you are doing.

If it looks the same size, what makes you think it is not?

  • Export an Image to PDF from a WAD Template

    Hi Friends,
I want to export the Company Logo used in the template to the PDF. But here i am not allowed to use Report Designer for that.
So can any body tell me how to export the image to PDF without using the Report Designer.
    Thank You.

    Hi,
If you are using BI 7 here is what you should do.
Insert the reaquired image 'Company Logo' in the MIME repository in the system first.
    1) Se80
    2) MIME repository --> choose an appropriate folder to put the image (if it is company logo you can choose SAP -> BW -> Customer -> Images)
    3) Remember, this will create a transport request and needs to be moved to every landscape whereever the template is accessed. It is common folder accessible to all SAP users in your system.
    In WAD,
    1) On the top you will find a button called 'Insert Image'
    2) Give the path to the image in the MIME repository.
The source will mostly be like -> bwmimerep:///sap/bw/mime/Customer/Images/...Logo.gif etc.
    3) For the Export to PDF, use a Button item and assign command 'Export'. Keep Web Template and Web Item default and export format - PDF.
When export button is clicked, along with all web items, your image will get exported to PDF.

I just started a free trial of the Adobe XI product that allows me to create an editable PDF. I'm done creating the form and ready to export it. When I click Export PDF from the File menu, it says Adobe encountered an unexpected error. What am I doing wrong?

Good to know  — there is no such application as "Adobe XI".
"Adobe" is the name of the company.
"XI" is indicative of the use of either Acrobat XI or Reader XI.
Neither Acrobat XI Pro (for which Adobe provides a free, fully functional 30-day trial) nor Adobe Reader XI (the free to download and use PDF viewer that Adobe provides) have  an "Export PDF" entry under "File".
"Export PDF" only is present in Adobe Reader XI over on the right on the "Tools" panel.
The "Tools" panel provides a way for a user of Adobe Reader XI to connect to various By Subscription online services (gotta pay eh).
Export PDF is one of these. A subscription lets you send a PDF file to the online internet service (aka "cloud" service). The service then exports to a supported file format (Word / Excel / ...) and the user selects / directs where the output file is to be saved on the user's local machine.
Of course to use any of the online subscription services one must have an active (paid up in full) subscription to the service.
So ---- As described the puzzle pieces don't fit eh.
What specific Adobe (the company) applications are you using?
Acrobat XI Pro? Adobe Reader XI? Both?
    Be well....
