Blurry photos in iWeb 09?

I've dropped some photos on an iWeb 09 page. (I have optimization set to OFF). I publish the photos to a folder. Then I upload to my real Domain. The photos are blurry. When I into the folder on my hard drive, I see that iWeb has changed my photos....like from 150 kb down to about 25 kb!!! Why is it doing this? I don't mind optimization, but not to the point where the photo is not sharp. This is crazy. Can anyone help figure out what's going on? I've even deleted my published site on my hard drive. And republished to another folder on my hard drive. Same results. Did iWeb 08 do this? I'm thinking of reinstalling my old iWeb 08 and going with that. So many problems. Thanks.
Dan

I just upgraded to iWeb 09 from 08 and ran into this same problem. I can't figure it out. It did NOT occur with iWeb 08. Has anyone figured this out?
Thanks.

  • How can you Copyright your photos in iWeb

Does anyone know how to copyright your photos in iWeb so that others can download your images and claim them as their own?? thanks

Press: Option+"G" and you will have this "©" after it put your name as:
    ©Fito Pardo 2007
In photoshop or a program like this put your copyright notice on top of your photos like I did it:
    http://www.cinematograf.com/Links/Clientes/Pages/Belinda.html
If you like no one to download your pictures I recomend to you to put your images like here:
    http://www.cinematograf.com/Media/StillPortfolio/StillPortfolio.html
So is more dificult for others to use them as their own as this pictures are in way less resolution than prints and is very difficult to use video images on a catalog, it look like crap.
    And there is another way
Put your images like I did in video, then place a box layer on top of the video and make that box transparent:
Under the "Inspector" window, go to "Graphic", then go to "Opacity" and make the square "0%", make shure is on top of your whole video so no one can download your video.
This is actually the best way, but then again if you don't put a copyright notice like the "Belinda" pictures I did (she is a Latin Pop Star, That is why I put that copyright notice on top of every shot, there is a lot of fans who like to have some of those pictures) you will still have to worry about:
    "Shift" + "Command" (Or Apple) + "4"
That one is the command to copy what ever you want on the screen
I hope this works for you

  • How do I Add Music to the Slideshow in photos in Iweb

How do I add a song from my itunes library to play while viewing the slideshow portion of my photos in Iweb'09? I have tried this numerous times throughout the day today but am getting nowhere.
Also, can I add a video portion of the Letterman Top Ten list to a page in my Iweb?
    Thanks

That's not an option with iWeb. You can add a song to the photos page that will play automatically (and loop if desired) that would continue to play when the viewer clicks on the slideshow button. This demo page has such a setup.
I don't remember if Cyclosaurus (our resident javascript expert) had posted a solution via javascript and an HTML snippet. You might search the entire iWeb forums for posts by Cyclosaurus with a topic of slideshow music or something similar.

  • Major Bug in iPhoto '11 -- Blurry Photos in Books

I spent the last week putting together a photo book as a Christmas gift for my wife. I was just about to hit the Purchase Book button when I noticed that several of the photos looked blurry. I attempted to double-click on them to examine them closely, but nothing happened. I left the book layout area and into the album where the individual photos were. When I attempted to edit the photo, I got the dreaded exclamation point -- iPhoto had lost track of the original photos.
I tried rebuilding the database by holding down the Command & Option keys during launch, but after a very lengthy rebuilding process, the photos were still blurry. Luckily, I realized that the problem photos were those that I had used the "Enhance" feature in iPhoto's edit area. By clicking the "Revert to Original" button at the bottom right (or right-clicking), iPhoto was able to rediscover a high-resoultion version of the photo (pre-Enhancement).
It was a pain to go through over 100 photos and manually click the "Revert to Original" button, but at least I got my sharp, high-resolution photos back. Spending a week and $50 on a book of blurry photos would have been bitter disappointment, not to mention a lousy Christmas gift.

    Hi Larry,
    Thanks for your reply,
I did a rebuild of the library, but the error remained.
To answer the issues you have with my post:
1/ My post is not about books, but the original posting dug deeper and got to the issue of editing photos in iPhoto and having the same problems as I experienced and described. Exporting a photo in a book or in an email, what ever export/production mode is, it came down to a problem of photo Edit in iPhoto.
2/ Also, I found this post via googling "iphoto bug when editing photos". It is not the first time a thread is picked up a couple of months later, or is it ?
3/ Also, on "the "sharing" by email works but is failing as well"
Indeed the sharing by email works, that is the photo gets exported to the email, ie mail is activated and the photo is composed in email but in the email, as I mentioned, "the photo has a serious quality loss and is blurred, though in the Edit Tab/mode it is still full quality and sharp."
Thanks again for your reply and help.
    Best

  • Publication of photos from iweb to mobile me produce an error

I am no longer able to publish photos from iweb to my mobile me site
The process starts well; but some minutes after, it stops at a file (not always the same) as if the time was up or the size too large (I have plenty of room in Mobile me).
It has worked some months ago for the first set of photos ...
    thanks for you help

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
2 - login with a bogus username and password. This clears the caches.
3 - login with your correct username and password.
4 - launch iWeb and try again.
    If that doesn't help continue:
1 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
    3 - reboot.
4 - launch iWeb and see if you can publish.
    If that doesn't help:
5 - move the domain file from your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
6 - launch iWeb, create a new test site and save.
7 - go to the your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
8 - move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
9 - launch iWeb and try again.

  • Photos on iWeb (closer looks)

    Hello!
How do you set up photos on iWeb so that when they are published, you can click on them and they open a separate window and show you a close up?
    Thanks!
    bg

    bg:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. They do that already. Publish them to a photos page and when published and clicked on they will open in a larger window with a tray of thumbnails across the top. The slideshow also opens up to a larger size that can be paused to view more at leisure. Here's an example.
To get larger images that what's there you would have to upload a larger version, pixel wise, and then do a text link to each. That's not a good alternative. There may be other 3rd party slidehshow java file add on packages for the slideshow that might produce a larger size.
NOTE: Didn't notice you were using iWeb 1 so the example I gave is from iWeb 2.

  • Problem with soft, blurry photos in Slideshow mode in AB 2.1.1.9

    Hello,
I downloaded the 2.1.1 update to AB which was supposed to take care of the blurry photo display in slideshow mode.
It is better than before, but the photos are still not nearly as sharp as they should be. When I display them in any other applications, e.g. xnview they are crisp and clear.
Is it only me, or do you also have this problem?
Is that going to be fixed for good in CS4? Has anyone played with CS4 AB beta?
    Regards,
    Kefir

Since 11/07 I am using CS3 and Bridge 2.1.1.9 with the slideshow option very sufficiently until Sunday. Since yesterday I try to display a file of 280 photos with filetype CR2 with partial bad effect. The first 40 slides are presented normally, then the next 60 photos but the photos are still not nearly as sharp as they should be which can be easily controlled using immediately CS3 with display mode of about 100 %. Afterwards the next 2 photos are ok. The next part of 10 photos are displayed wrong as before and so on. A short time before the first appearance of this problem I got a message that bridge has a problem but I don't remember which one.
I am using an 19" EIZO display with digital connection and a Matrox card which is really not slow. I would be happy for a solution of this problem.

  • How do I control the size of my photos in iWeb?

    Hello
I wish to ask if it is possible to control the size of a photo in iWeb when publishing photos.
What I want is that people can press on any photo in my collection and see it in high resolution. But at the moment it is messing with my photos. Some come up tiny regardless of them being a 4MB Pixel shot, and most of them if not all of them are restricted to one size...
    Thank you...
    -Steve

iWeb resizes photos in the following cases -
When using the of the photograph templates where you drag and drop your pictures:
    1) Size is capped at 800px x 800px for the slide
    2) Files are compressed, usually ~120KB\
    3) New thumbs are created (the small image you click on); those tend to be 35-45KB.
If you add a shadow, reflect or graphic option - odds are iWeb will convert your JPEG into a PNG and file size mushrooms. I've been created very compact banners, but due to PNG coversion the size has gone up by 6-8x...
I have NOT looked into just adding a photo to page and seeing what happens to the file size. Most of my tug of war has been with slide show and trying to understand why the 300-500KB files I was using were looking so bad. Now that I know iWeb is doing, I can sort of work around it.
It doesn't mean I'm happy. I'm going to add a gallery page with my favorites, format for roughly 1000x800 and keep the file size around 400 KB. I do all the file resizing in Photoshop CS2.
To put all this in perspective, i have around 325 picture uploaded - most were resized to 450 KB for the web. That 146 MB just for pictures. Add another 10 MB for web content, etc. I thought ~160MB should be used up on the iDisk. Due to iWeb's compression, usage is only 70 MB for this site.

  • Cannot see Aperture 3 photos in iWeb

I have a huge problem... I am a photographer and am constantly updating my website, however, I cannot see my Aperture 3 photos in iWeb (the folders that I have created over the past few months don't show up at all). I have had to transfer photos from Aperture 3 to my iPhoto library in order to use them in iWeb, which is such a waste of time (and space). Can someone please assist???

If you have not found any problems using DiskUtility, I would suggest that you might try deleting your Aperture preferences file (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2945) then re-open Aperture and set your preferences up again. That may resolve the iWeb issue as well as your Export difficulties.
    Let us know what happens.
    Cheers!

  • White specs  on photos in iWeb

Upload and posted photos to iWeb and everything looks fine when viewing my site using Firefox, IE and Safari.
The problem is that other people are seeing WHITE SPECS all over the images. Does anyone know what I can to do fix this?
Internet Explorer to view the photos. Don't know what version they are running or if it matters.
    Thank you!

I've seen this and it's really strange. It's some funky way that some versions of IE displays some .jpg's. I didn't see a resolution to the problem, though.

  • Downsize photos in iWeb?

I'm a newbie to iPhoto and iWeb. I've been importing my photos into iPhoto and then those that I want on my website I export to iWeb, or sometimes drag/drop. I've never downsized anything. Recently I read a post that this is a MUST because iWeb uploads full resolution. Now I'm worried. I checked one of my photos... Original resolution according to the info in iPhoto is 2048 x 1536 at 870 KB. The files exported from iWeb for that photo are 256 x 192 at 24 KB and 800 x 600 at 120 KB. It seems to me that iWeb is downsizing them.
I have photoshop but was really trying improve my workflow and was hoping to eliminate this step. Before I got iPhoto and iWeb I manually resized every photo for each thumbnail and each slide image. TEDIOUS.
Do I need to downsize my images or is iWeb doing it?

    dzinemkr,
It's true that iWeb will upload the original file that you drag and drop into iWeb as well as the resized images. If you want to see what images are getting uploaded by iWeb, you can do a "Publish to Folder" on your local desktop. Then open up the site folder and peek inside a folder called "Images". It is possible that you will find high resolution originals of your photos here. If they are here in this folder, then you can be sure then are being uploaded when you use "Publish to .mac" as well.
What you should do is decide (approximately if not exactly) what maximum resolution you will want your photos to be used in your iWeb pages. If you are using the Apple slideshow, then that resolution is 800x600. Then export from iPhoto using this maximum resolution and drag the resulting downscaled photos into iWeb. This ensures that the largest image iWeb will ever upload will be the 800x600 image....and the original 2048x1536 image never passes through iWeb's fingers to be uploaded as the original image.
iWeb will do some element of downscaling for things like thumbnails and such. But just limit the maximum usable resolution of your files....if you are just posting photos on a page where none of the photos will be more than 300x400....then scale all your photos in iPhoto to 300x400 and use these instead of dropping the original 2048x1536 image for iWeb to downscale for you. Does this make sense? Not only will this protect your high resolution photos from becoming available for the taking (check out your RSS feed), but it will also decrease your overall site size, site uploading times, and page downloading speeds.
If you have found any of this information to be useful to you, please take the time to provide me with feedback by marking my reply as "solved" or "helpful" using those little buttons that you see in the title bar of this reply. I'd really appreciate it!

  • My camera is producing blurry photos before and after ios5. What to do?

My camera is producing blurry photos before and after ios5. What to do?

    Jp0man-
There are several reasons a photo might be blurry.  It might be out-of-focus, the iPad or subject might have been moving when the photo was taken, or the blur might actually be noise resulting from not having enough light.
Try taking a photo of a fixed object 3 or 4 feet away with a lot of light, with the iPad propped against something solid.  If you still get a blurry image, you may have a defective iPad and should contact Apple about it.  If you can demonstrate the problem to an Apple Store Genius, you may get a new iPad on the spot.

  • Photos for iWeb: do they need to be sized, or does the program do that?

I have a number of fairly large files that i want to use in a little website I'm making in iWeb.Do I need to rez down, sharpen, etc? Or can I just import?

It can help to resize/optimize before adding to iWeb. It all depends on how many and how big the overall site is. For my photo pages with around 60 photos I just let iWeb do it's thing.
If you have a lot of photos you can batch resize/optimize them with an application like Resize!. With it you can set the pixel dimensions you want and the amount of jpeg compression (Quality). Since Resize! creates new files in a new folder you can experiment with quality levels until you get the smallest size possible that still meets your visual quality requirements.
Before you add those photos to iWeb turn off iWebs optimizing so that they get added just as you created them. If you add them to a photo page iWeb resizes to 800 x 600 so use those dimensions for your resizing. If you add a photo to a page iWeb always changes its size a bit and adds a stroke to it. You can remove the stroke and get it to the size you created via the Inspector/Graphic pane (for the stroke) and the Inspector/Metrics pane (for the size).

  • Blurry photos when saved

Okay so I use safari and I save photos to my iPod touch 8gb 2nd or 3rd gen and they are blurry. I tried the method with the re sync and it doesnt work because Im saving them and the pictures are not in my computer. Also, I dont like going to my computer every time and re sync them when I save pictures from safari.. Is there going to be a fix for this or what??

Firstly it doesn't matter what size the image is, even if it's the standard ipod touch screen size, it will still display blurry. It's a bug. This is a pathetic limitation and should be an embarrassment to the company.
Secondly, the issue happens even when you've saved the image from Mail. That being said, if you were to open up Twinkle, and share this blurry photo with the world, they will see it as clear and perfect as all getup. Then if you go and look at your photo in Twinkle you will see that the image is clear, and yet still blurred in your photo container on the ipod.
You're trying to tell me that this thing that can support running 3d applications and games is so inferior that it can't display a image without time traveling back to 1988?
Give me a break, Apple better fix this. It makes them look cheap.

Yes. You want to add photos from a folder on the desktop to an existing iWeb album page? Just bring up the page in iWeb and drag the photo into the group of thumbnails that are displayed on the page and move it to where you want it locate
