Blurry picture when connecting

I have the new iMac w/iSight built in, running Tiger on a cable modem. When I have iChat open, my video preview of myself is crystal clear. When I invite my dad to a one-way video chat, as soon as he "accepts" my picture gets blurry, and is blurry on his end.
He has a G5 with T1 like speeds, running Panther.
Any ideas on why the video gets all blurry?

Have you set your quicktime prefs to you speed, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed to T1
In ichats prefs click on video and change bandwidth limit to NONE.

  • As there is no sound only picture when connecting my ipad, do I need to also use the audio cable from Apple TV to an older Philips TV?

I have just bought a black Apple TV and it works fine when connecting my iPad to a modern TV.  However on an older Philips TV, there is no sound coming through.  Do I need to use an audio cable from the optical digital audio port in addition to the HDMI cable?  The TV's HDMI does not appear to support sound.

Thanks.  However no luck with this TV so far.  I've purchased a converter to give a digital audio signal from the optical digital audio output port.  The TV has an input audio digital port, but I've had no success in getting sound so far.
Is there any setting in the Apple TV menu that may affect the signal.  I've tried the setting for 16 bit signal, without any success.
Perhaps this Philips TV may just not be compatible with the new black Apple TV.  I have talked at some length with Philips support desk, but they've offered nothing new.

  • My Thunderbolt Display looses its picture when connected to a new 27" iMac?

Does anyone else have this problem?  It works fine when connected to my air...

Is your 2.6 the CTO upgrade from the high end 2.3 15"?
Yes, both will work under OSX and Windows. One note, when you boot Windows, you need to unplug the USB from the LED Cinema display or Windows will not boot. Once booted, then plug the USB back in to regain brightness, etc controls.

  • No picture when connecting Mac Mini GMA 950 to Panasonic TX-PF42G10 via HDM

    Hi !
I have a Mac Mini Core Duo 1,66 GHz with GMA950 chipset (MacMini1,1 sold from february 2006 to september 2006) which I was using as a Plex mediacenter connected to an old CRT display via an s-video adapter.
I purchased a brand new Panasonic TX-PF42G10 plasma screen the other day, and for the life of me I can't get my Mini to feed anything to the HDMI inputs via a DVI/HDMI cable.
When I remotely connect to my Mini with ARD or VNC, I can see it successfully detects I have a "Panasonic-TV" and lets me choose 1920x1080 either in 24Hz, 50Hz or 60Hz. I tried all three : no picture.
Tried connecting this Mini via the VGA input: works fine.
I tried to install SwitchResX but I don't really know what to do with it. Tried to install Snow Leopard too, but it didn't help either.
YET I FOUND SOMETHING RATHER INTERESTING.
I have another more recent Mini (one of the new 2009 models), hooked up to a Samsung T240HD display via DVI. Since this display also has an HDMI input, I tried to connect the other, older Mini to it. And then... the Samsung display wouldn't let me pick the HDMI input from the source menu!
I thought "***???", and then I tried to connect the newer Mini to this HDMI input: works great! I then kept the HDMI end connected to the display, unplugged the DVI end from the newer Mini and plugged it back to the older Mini : BINGO, picture at last...... except the display kept showing a "No signal, check cable" message (even though it was displaying my Mini desktop!).
So I thought "OK, some handshaking problem I guess". I unplugged the HDMI connector from the Samsung display and replugged it immediately: like I thought, once more the display wouldn't let me pick the HDMI input!
So I guess this is the same problem I'm having with the Panasonic plasma: this older Mini is unable to tell the TV that it is connected to it, even though it can perfectly read the TV specs. I've had no time to check what happens if I connect the newer Mini to the Panasonic plasma, but I'd bet it will work just fine.
So basically, my question is: will I ever be able to use this old Mini of mine with this shiny new plasma screen, or will I have to purchase another 2009 Mini? Is there anything I can do with SwitchResX? If so, what should I try?
Thanks for taking the time to read, and thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

Sounds quite possibly like the Panasonic enforces HDCP over its HDMI inputs and the older GMA950 equipped mini is unable to oblige.
That's what I thought too, as the newer Mini works just fine with my two screens, using the very same cable I used with the older Mini. Bugger...
FYI, I tried 720p : no picture either.
Does the Panasonic's user guide make reference to making computer connections over HDMI? It could be that only one of the HDMI inputs on the TV is designated for computer input, e.g. only one of the TV's HDMI inputs can work from a non-HDCP compliant source.
I do think I tried all 3 inputs, and the user manual never suggests that one of them is designated for computer input (I know some Samsung screens work that way, but this Panasonic doesn't seem to). Anyway, I'll give it a try once more, but I have little hope...
Meanwhile, I connected my Mini via VGA, 1366x768 resolution. Not too bad when viewed from the sofa, but it kills me not to be able to use the digital input...
    Thanks for your replies, though

  • Blurry pictures when slide show is played:(

I am making a slideshow on iMovie and I have pictures in it as well as videos. When I play the movie in full screen or normal screen the pictures appear blurry, but if I pause it they will return to the original resolution and they are clear. This is only happening with the pictures. If I just scroll over the pictures with the mouse they appear fine as well. How do I fix this? Thanks!

This is usually caused by the fact that your pics are much higher resolution than video clips i.e. even if your video is 1920x1080 your pics may well be 3000x2000 or more. IMovie(depending on your computer and graphics power) can't resolve the large pics to their fullest at 24 or30 fps. In FCP X we can adjust for that but I don't see any way in iMovie. I think you will find that when you share/export your movie the pics will be nice and clear.

  • Fuzzy flickr pictures when connected via phone

    Hi,
I regularly use my iPad to show people pictures I've uploaded to the flickr.com website.
This works great when I'm conntected via wifi to a good broadband connection, they appear clear and crisp. When I connect the iPad to the interenet via my phone's wifi tethering which is a slower connection it seems to display them in a lower resolution and they appear fuzzy and people sometimes think I've taken them out of focus!
I think the iPad somehow detects that it's a slower connection and uses a reduced resolution to make them quicker to download and display.
Is there anyway of turning this feature off so they are displayed at the full resolution? (I don't mind waiting longer for them to downlaod at full resolution.)
    Thanks,
    Dave.

  • No picture when connecting iMac to TV via S-Video

We have an '07ish iMac, and an older TV with only composite and S-video.
We've connected a mini-DVI to video adapter, an S-video cable, and an audio cable, switched the TV over to the correct video input, clicked 'detect displays', and tried every single resolution. We got a little blip of white on the TV screen when we plugged the mini-DVI port in, but other than that—black screen. (We did get the sound.)
Thinking maybe *just maybe* we'd get a different result using a composite cable instead, we tried that too. Still nuthin'.
After reading through some other posts on connecting Macs to TVs, we tried restarting the computer. Still nuthin'.
    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hi eb
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Could be a bad Dynex adapter, return that one for another and/or cough up the extra $3 for Apples.
I'm now using a Mini-DVD to to DVI and a 21.5 LG monitor, but my Apple Mini-DVI to Video adapter and my 27" Sharp served me well for a couple of years.
See the Tip in > http://support.apple.com/kb/TA23844?
+Tip: To make sure that your iMac automatically detects the external display or projector, be sure you plug the adapter into the external display or projector before you plug it into the iMac.+

Dave I'm glad to say that it works perfectly but I'm embarrassed to say that my 12 year old nephew hooked it up in about 10 minutes.
If you have the Kanex Mini DisplayPort cable it will work, what confused me was changing the display settings in System Preferences,
and dragging the mac screen from the mac onto the tv. Sorry I cant be more helpful but you have the right cable now you need a 12 year old nephew.
    Good luck Derek

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your phone doesn't do mirroring, only the 4S will do that. It only does basic AirPlay.
Websites and third party Apps need enabling before they will allow AirPlay of Video content. Some Website/App developers have not enabled their products, some simply haven't got around to it yet, others have stated that they won't be enabling AirPlay (likely as a result of licensing issues).

    Hey saandyy,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
You can try to restart the iPhone to exit recovery mode.
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.
    Have a nice day,
    Mario

How do I correct blurry pictures in iMovie? They are clear when I pause the video but blurry when playing the video.

Try sharing and see if the effect is still present when you play the shared movie.  It can happen when playing within iMovie if there are insufficient resources to play a full resolution.
