Blurry pictures when slide show is played:(

I am making a slideshow on iMovie and I have pictures in it as well as videos. When I play the movie in full screen or normal screen the pictures appear blurry, but if I pause it they will return to the original resolution and they are clear. This is only happening with the pictures. If I just scroll over the pictures with the mouse they appear fine as well. How do I fix this? Thanks!

This is usually caused by the fact that your pics are much higher resolution than video clips i.e. even if your video is 1920x1080 your pics may well be 3000x2000 or more. IMovie(depending on your computer and graphics power) can't resolve the large pics to their fullest at 24 or30 fps. In FCP X we can adjust for that but I don't see any way in iMovie. I think you will find that when you share/export your movie the pics will be nice and clear.

  • IPhoto 11 crashes when slide show theme is selected

My iPhoto 11 on Lion freezes when slide show theme button is selected. Anyone else experience this?

Remember: we cannot see your machine. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS.  So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • How to manually arrange pictures in Slide Show in iPhoto 11

Is it possible to manually arrange pictures in slide shows?
The slide show feature in earlier versions of iPhoto had one major flaw: it is fully automated. You can't select how many pictures go on each slide or move pictures from one slide to another. Has this issue been resolved with iPhoto 11?
    Thank you.

This is by design. iPhoto is template driven and the templates are fixed. This makes it very easy for inexperienced users to make an attractive slideshow fast. If you've out grown those templates then you've outgrown the iPhoto slideshow feature and i's time to look for a more capable app.
    Alternatives to iPhoto's slideshow include:
iMovie, on every Mac sold, as is iDVD.
    Others, in order of price:
    PhotoPresenter $29
    PhotoToMovie $49.95
    PulpMotion $129
FotoMagico $29 (Home version) ($149 Pro version, which includes PhotoPresenter)
    Final Cut Express $199
It's difficult to compare these apps. They have differences in capability - some are driven off templates. some aren't. Some have a wider variety of transitions. Others will have excellent audio controls. It's worth checking them out to see what meets your needs.
However, there is no doubt that Final Cut Express is the most capable app of them all. You get what you pay for.

  • After pulling pictures into slide show -- when hit run ... everything is blank

I created a slide show from organizer.
All the pictures are there, pan and zoom selected, etc.   Then when I try and preview it - there is nothing on the scree
n it is blank.  the bottom layout shows the movement from one picture to the other but the slide show picture
is not working.   I tried to just take the show to file .. which I did.  when i then tried to run the .wmv file .. same thing ...
    everything was blank.

This black for the image on the preview screen seems to happen if you are missing some type of Windows authorization or permissions.
Playback in the Slide Show Editor in the Preview seems to require additional Windows authorization or permissions: a black screen in the Preview area while there is movement of the thumbnail images below during playback is the symptom of the problem.
-- running from a Windows userid which has administrator authority usually (but not always) avoids this problem.
-- if the userid administrator authority is not sufficient in your particular case, then try starting PSE by right clickin on its desktop icon and choosing Run as Administrator (which does have a different effect than administrator authority of the userid).
    Note: for future reference
For a question like this is good to post both the version of Photoshop Elements and the version of the Windows operating system.
Because this specific problem can happen with both multiple PSE versions and different Windows versions, I went ahead and posted guidance.

  • Ipod to tv slide show and play music

    Hi
I want play a slide show with my pictures and play music through the ipod as well. I have a dock connecter which connects through S video and sound through red and white connector leads. When the ipod is not in the dock i can do both but i can only do one or the other when plugged in.
It's the new 80g ipod which I have, is there somthing that I am doing wrong, is it possible to do both any help would be great
    thanks

    Hi
I have an Ipod80G as well.
But I find it impossible to see a slideshow on my tv-set .
Can you tell me the connections and settings to obtain a slide-show with music on my tv-set. I don't have a dockingstation with SVHS or audio connection.
What type of cables do I need to see my slide-show with music like you said you could obtain without a docking mount on your own tv-set?

  • Pixelated pictures in slide show

I am making a slide show.  I have good clear pictures, but when I push play or watch it they become pixelated.

    Eric
Thank you for the helpful additional information.
I am still not sure what the pixel dimensions of your photos are, so there is always the quality expectation versus "that is the best DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc can offer because of the industry standardized format. But, you do mention work from another program which is giving you better results for DVD-VIDEO format on DVD disc.
So, in the name of trying to get better for your Premiere Elements slideshow destined for DVD-VIDEO Widescreen, then I would suggest the following
    a. Start with photos not to exceed 2200 x 1238 16:9 pixels The project preset is going to be a 1920 x 1080 16:9 @ 29.97 progressive frames. Not to worry. There is a method to this.
    b. Open Premiere Elements project to the Expert workspace. Go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
(I know that you are working on Mac, but I am not sure if it is set up for NTSC or PAL. For now, I will assume NTSC.)
    Change the project preset to
    NTSC
    DSLR
    1080p
    DSLR 1080p30 @ 29.97
Before you exit that area, make sure to have a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Preset on This Project".
    c. Back in the Premiere Elements Expert workspace, use Add Media/Files and Folders/ Project Assets to import your photos into the project.
It is normal for you to have an orange line over the Timeline in this case. So, to get the best possible preview of what you are seeing in the Edit area monitor, press the Render button above the Timeline. Do your photos look sharper and better than before you started the suggested workflow?
    d. Typically the disc menus present "poorly" in Disc Menu Preview, so not to worry about that for now.
    e. The moment of truth will come when you look at the end product on your TV player.
    I would suggest
    Publish+Share
    Disc
    DVD
    disc
    with Presets for NTSC_Widescreen_Dolby DVD.
If you want to talk about taking the same Timeline to AVCHD format on DVD disc, we can do that next.
Please review and consider and let us know the results. The answers will be in the details. So please include all information for us to help you.
    Thanks.

  • PSE8-Slide Shows to Play on TV/DVD Player

I watched the tutorial and read the online help.
    Two things are mentioned.
I can create a slide show to present on a TV set
When creating the slide show and am ready to create a DVD, Premiere Elements Will Load.
What none of the help says is whether a cable from the PC to the TV AND Premiere Elements are required to play a slide show on a TV set.
Does PSE8 make slide shows for TV or does Premiere, only, make slide shows for TV?
Do I need a cable, or can I play the burned DVD in the TV's DVD Player, as in Blockbuster movies?
A cable is not practical for me.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Barbara.
I don't have PRE; have only had PSE over the years.  Never had a need for video editing, although my wife has the 'original' Minolta Z1 which does video clips.
I am -very- interested in being able to play slide shows on a TV's VCR player as a replacement of showing slides on a projector (which I still have).
While I have you, will PRE's presets/templates work well with a non lcd, non plasma, non flatscreen, non hd, tv.  Do I have to make a particular resolution and aspect ratio set of files for non hdtv?
Even when I play a show directly from my camera (Nikon D300) the pictures look terrible, not even worth watching.
And, how would I cope with then being able to show the pictures on other people's flat, lcd, plasma, or hdtv's?  Do I have to make separate special burns at full resolution and a different aspect ratio?
Will Adobe PRE tell me how to do these things?  I will be upgrading to PSE8 and have to make a decision whether Premiere Elements 8 would be a better upgrade.
    Thanks.

  • Slide show only plays Theme Music

Using iPhoto 9.5.1 and Mavericks 10.9.4
I made a new slide show and after selecting it and clicking on Music, I have clicked the check box for Play Music during Slideshow.
Theme music plays perfectly.  I can see my iTunes library and select music, but when I select my own music and hit Choose, it either (1) stays on themed music or (2) is silent.  In fact once it is silent, I have to change the Theme in order to get even the Themed music to play.
I would REALLY appreciate some help with this. It is very frustrating!
    Dave

Try choosing the "Custom Playlist' option and drag the audio track into it.  See if that will link that audio track to the slideshow.
Is this a slideshow from an album or from the slideshow mode?

  • Sharp Pictures for Slide Show

I am trying to use Premiere Elemments to create a slide show from pictures taken with a digital camera. When I import the pictures they are clear and sharp - the same way they appear when I view them individually using other tools. When I put them together is a show they all lose the sharpness. FYI, I have the same results with several other "movie makers."  Am I using the right tools? Is there a fix for this "problem," some where in this 500M program?
    Rich, a.k.a., X-Gino-X

Thanks, this is helpful.  Now at least, I understand why none of these programs is giving me the results I am looking for. Now, how do I resize my photos to try this out?  FYI, I just tried Power Point and have all the original quality without the added step. Of course Power Point doesn't have all the features I am looking for, but I was able to do most everything I wanted in a very short time.  I am certain that Power Point isn't converting the data to a video format and I won't be able to write the output to a DVD, but I will be able to show Slide Shows using my computer to drive my HD TV.
    Thanks again,
    Rich

  • Letterboxing a 16:9 slide show to play on 4:3 tv

I've heard it posted a million times on this forum that it is the DVD player and TV that determine how a 16:9 (widescreen) presentation is displayed on a 4:3 television.
I use Encore 2.0 to produce slide shows. I always produce them for a 16:9 format. The slideshows look great on my 16:9 plasma. Yet on any DVD I playe hooked up to a 4:3 television the 16:9 slideshows get streched vertically to fill the screen.
So before you tell me once again how it is the DVD player doing and not the DVD itself explain this to me. In each of these cases (DVD player to a 4:3 television) store bought DVD movies play widescreen presentation with black bars on the top and bottom.
I can nto seem to be able to recreate this using DVD encore. I want my widescreen slideshows to have black bars on the top and bottom when being played on a 4:3 television

    > Could be caused by the DVD players setup. If it is set for "Widescreen" instead of "Letterbox" (or "Pan and Scan") it may stretch 16:9 content to fill a 4:3 TV's height.
    That's it indeed.
Additionally, the player can be telling the TV to do one thing, yet the TV may well just ignore it altogether.
Setting an aspect ratio correctly in authoring is no guarantee at all that it will actually get displayed correctly on a TV.
You would be appalled how many people just never even bother setting things up right in the first place after getting the initial installation from the delivery shop.
    @ Joe Ghione.
Is the DVD player you are hooking up to the 4:3 TV set as it's default output to WIDE or 4:3 (Letterbox or Pan & Scan?) or automatic?
I can categorically assure you that setting a ratio is one thing, and having it properly honoured is quite another.
FWIW, I have many pressed discs that simply refuse to set the correct Aspect Ratio at all via HDMI. It must be set manually each time.
Via component (or SCART) is often better for this.
I've created multi-Aspect ratio discs in Encore that work just perfectly on some player/TV combinations, yet need the AR setting manually on others.

  • HOW DO I UNITE MOVIE & SLIDE SHOW AS PLAY MOVIE {IDVD}

    PLEASE HELP ME
BY THE WAY IT IS AN IDVD

You can do this in two ways:
    1. Drop your movie into the slideshow area either before or after your slideshow photos. When you click on Play All, your movie and slideshow will play as a single movie.
See Old Toad's picture of where to drop the slides and movies:
    http://homepage.mac.com/toad.hall/.Pictures/Forum/iDVD8movieSS.png
2.You could also put the movie and photos into an iMovie and then it would play as a single movie. You could put a chapter marker to denote the beginning of the slideshow so that the viewer would be able to choose 'Scene Selection' to choose the slideshow. If you want, you could change that text to read 'Play Slideshow'

  • I want to set a maximum size for pictures when FF shows websites. How can i do that? NO I DONT MEAN "HOW TO ZOOM".

I have FF 34 but this problem has been there for a lot of earlier versions. On many webpages there are pictures that cover my whole screen, and I want to set maximum size for showing images on webpages.
I ONLY wanr to change the maximum size of the images, AND IAM NOT asking about how to zoom the webpage.

Do you want to hide large images or merely make them smaller by setting a max-width and max-height?
You would probably have to use JavaScript (bookmarklet) to achieve this reliably.
There are bookmarklets to make large images fit in the window to avoid a horizontal scroll bar
You can try this code in the <b>userContent.css</b> file (adjust the max-width accordingly).
    <pre><nowiki>img { max-width: 1024px !important; height: auto !important; }</nowiki></pre>
The customization files userChrome.css (user interface) and userContent.css (websites) are located in the <b>chrome</b> folder in the Firefox profile folder.
*Create the chrome folder (lowercase) in the <xxxxxxxx>.default profile folder if this folder doesn't exist
*Use a plain text editor like Notepad to create a (new) userContent.css file in the chrome folder (file name is case sensitive)
*Paste the code in the userContent.css file in the editor window
*Make sure that you select "All files" and not "Text files" when you save the file via "Save file as" in the text editor as userContent.css.<br>Otherwise Windows may add a hidden .txt file extension and you end up with a not working userContent.css.txt file

  • Blurry picture when connecting

I have the new iMac w/iSight built in, running Tiger on a cable modem. When I have iChat open, my video preview of myself is crystal clear. When I invite my dad to a one-way video chat, as soon as he "accepts" my picture gets blurry, and is blurry on his end.
He has a G5 with T1 like speeds, running Panther.
Any ideas on why the video gets all blurry?

Have you set your quicktime prefs to you speed, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed to T1
In ichats prefs click on video and change bandwidth limit to NONE.

  • Wedding photos to a slide show to play on a TV?

I'm having lots of problems creating a DVD to allow members of my family who do not own a computer to play a 'wedding photos' DVD to their DVD player.
I've created an iPhoto screen show from the many photos and have successfully burned a CD that WILL to play a computer.   I've read somewhere that the files need to be renamed to .MP4 format, which I've done, but the DVD+R will not play the files to a TV.   Can anyone offer any advice please?

Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.
