Blurry/Pixelly Pictures

I take pictures with a 5M pixel HP camera, and of course, when opened in full size, you can see the pixels, the picture is not smooth. When you open it, say, with preview, the screen size picture is perfect.
Now, I try to resize the pictures (using the export of option or the automator (20, 50%) hoping the resized picture will be, when in full size, the same as the screensize one shown in preview. (does that makes sense?)
But invariable, the smaller picture, in full size, is not smooth, and you can see all the pixels. Why is that?
How can I resize the pictures so they are, i don't know how to put it, perfect?

By full size do you mean at it's pixel dimensions or enlarged to fill the iPhoto window? When you resize a photo via the Export menu option you're taking the image and reducing the pixels for each dimension by half. If you display that new image at its new size it will look good. If you display that same image full screen or at a size larger than the actual pixel dimensions it will look pixelated and jaggy. You can't take an 800 x 600 pixel image and display it at the same size, say a frame in an iPhoto book, and have it look as good as the original 1600 x1200 pixel file. (If this is not what you're referring to then this post will self destruct in 5 seconds Mr. Phelps.)

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

Blurry Profile Picture... FOR GODS SAKE, PLEASE FI...

I can't wrap my mind around the fact that Skype either doesn't give a **bleep** or is literally not able to fix the blurry profile picture bug that haunts Skype for almost a year now. How HARD can it be to fix it?
For months and months me and other people are waiting for a fix, but nothing happens.
Skype Portable was the only way for people with Windows 7 to get a nonblurry profile picture, but after the update even that doesn't work anymore.
WAKE UP SKYPE!!! Please.

I have tried all kinds of sizes and formats, it's always blurry compared to the original. Every contact in my list that I asked about this has the same problem, besides one person who doesn't have Windows 7.
Please post a picture that wouldn't turn out blurry if used as a profile pic. I'm curious.
Also, about saying they should need to fix more important things... this problem is here for a YEAR! Don't you think they should be able to fix this "little" issue in this long amount of time? A lot of people are bothered by it, just google skype blurry profile picture.

So for over a year now I've had trouble getting a skype picture to actually look decent. I know the size is 480x480. Everytime I upload a picture, it turns out to be blurry. The left pic is how its supposed to look, the right is how skype makes it look when i upload it. there used to be a workaround where you could login skype 5 portable and change it, however user are now unable to use older skype versions. is there any solution for this? thanks

Motion sequence - when rendered in FCP goes blurry.example picture in post

Im having a strange problem.
Im creating a 20 sec intro graphic sequence in Motion in the PAL format to go into my FCP sequence. When I export and bring into FCP - the video as expected is unrendered and the picture looks sharp-like it did in Motion. However - when I render - it becomes a little blurry (nice technical term...)...
Ive tried using all 3 field dominance settings on Export from Motion - no difference...
When I watch the Intro graphic .mov in the viewer outside the sequence - it looks good quality as it did...so how come when rendering it is loosing so much?

IPad video is blurry, but pictures are fine

We are trying to record our morning announcements with the iPad. We are able to take pictures just fine - there are no focus issues. But when we switch to the video mode, it will gradually switch to blurry and it can't focus in. The transition only takes a second or two. The students are sitting behind a desk, so there is no quick movements, and the iPad is resting on the other end of the table so it is stable. Any thoughts?

Actually, what I really want is to download the video the way I used to with the QuickTime Pro 7 player. That way I'll have it when it's no longer front page news.
Strange! I downloaded it on "Day 1" of the announcement on my old G5 PPC with no problems. To check things further, I just re-downloaded it again with both QT 7 Pro and QT X on my PowerBook Pro using the same work flow as with my old G5. Still no problems. Would assume your work flow or software is at fault here. Try THIS LINK TO APPLE'S iPAD TOUR and see if it works any better.

Blurry profile pictures

Hello fellow Mac users,
Whenever I log into Skype from my Mac(as I also use a windows PC) all contact profile pictures appear blurry. Why is that? Any hints?

AD is a rubbish source for photos, as stated they only go up to 96x96 pixels, which is never going to look good when blown up to 300x300 (2013 default for large).
In 2010 the image sizes at least matched up in SharePoint to AD, the medium sized image was 96x96. In 2013 it's worse as all three images need to be re-scaled.
If you want the pictures to be clean then you'll need to re-import them from a source image 300x300 or larger. This blog may be of interest:

Blurry login picture in lion. Why?

I have a mid 2010 13" MBP that I upgraded to lion when it was released. I noticed that my user picture at the login screen is extremely blurry. I have tried several of the included pictures and they are all like this. Any way to fix it?

Macbook pro screen blurry and picture jumping

Hi, when I turn on Macbook it has a double picture overlapping that is blurry and jumping.
cant see disc utility cause everything is vibrating and blurry.

No known problems with the 13" models as they don't have the discrete AMD Radeon GPU.
However, your problem could be either with the integrated GPU or the screen. The only way that you can know for certain is to take your machine to your local Apple Store (be certain to make an appointment!) or an AASP for a free diagnostic test and estimate for repair.

Blurry profile picture - again!!!

I try to update my profile pictures at least every other year, and every time I go through hell! Why isn't Skype posting official information on required pixel dimensions, picture size and other relevant information? It is notoriously difficult to format the picture for a good result. I simply want a profile picture somewhat similar to the sharpness of my original. And - please - don't tell me my file is too big. I am perfectly able to format a .jpg file, sharp as a knife, at 13 KB.
I have enclosed a picture that clearly shows the discrepancy between the original and the Skype-version.
In closing, I would like to add that I work with 3D and image editing on a daily basis. It simply doesn't make any sense that I can't get a simple profile picture to display properly. Twitter, Indiegogo and others do it without problems. Why is this such a nightmare with Skype?

Same issue here. I even updated my profile picture using the 4288x2848 original file. The original file is sharp. But then, when saved, the profile picture on the skype app on the mac looks a bit pixelated. And when I check on the skype website, then it is completely blurred and pixelated.
We need help with this...

Hi everyone, I have a 4s which I love to bits, but I am having problem with the camera it works fine with no flash but as soon as flash is turned on it does go like a white blurry dark picture, I have warranty till end of feb but no box am I covered stil

Take the plastic protective sheet off the back of the iPhone.
The plastic is diffusing the flash so that it shines directly back into the lens washing out the picture.
Also if you have not removed the plastic protective sheet from the front, you want to do that as well, since the front sheet covers the microphone as ear speaker making it difficult to hear.
All of this happened to my wife :)

This seems to be an issue for some but not others and I haven't yet seen a resolution. It only happens with display pictures. If you send a picture via BBM it should work fine.

IWeb 1.1.2 blurry pictures in slideshow

I have a weird issue with my iWeb 1.1.2. I am trying to create a photo album using Photo template. All the images are high resolution and all of them work well, except one. It is an image of some people in the field (so there are green and blue colours dominating, if this may make a difference).
What is weird is that although picture appears blurry when clicking on its thumbnail, after clicking on this blurry image picture opens in high resolution and without any defects...
I have this problem with only one picture. Changing the order does not help. If I delete this picture then everything is fine with all other pictures.
Any ideas on how to fix it?

First, the only thing you mention that is directly support by iweb2 is removal of reflection.
Now to the other stuff, you can not add sound clip to slideshow.html file directly in iweb2, since it's auto-generated by iweb so QT inspector is irrelevant. (someone here is sending you on a wild goose chase)
However, you still can add sound clip to slideshow.html with the same method as in iweb1.
However due to change in site structure and javascript... there is only one slideshow.html, therefore whatever sound clip your add to slideshow.html file; it IS the ONLY clip will play even when you have multiple photo slideshows.
You can modify javascript to control slideshow looping and timing.
As of directions, they are in my head...

Iphone 4 all of sudden taking blurry pictures.

The back lens takes blurry unfocused pictures but the front lens takes crystal clear photos. This issue started after I updated my software but Apple support over the phone said software wouldn't cause that issue. Anyone have any fixes for this problem besides taking it back to the store?

I don't believe the software would cause the issue, especially if the front lens is working correctly.
You should triple check the back lens for any oil or other fluid that might distort the image, that is the most likely culprit. If it is a shoftware issue, try a reset/restore.

Why is the embedded form blurry?

When embedding the form to our website, all text gets blurry and pictures funny with a shadow effect. It looked fine the for a couple of weeks but now it
's like the picture below.
The developer helping us with our web sites says, I quote:
"The page renders a div with id = "content form". This div get an IE-specific shadow filter through CSS.
Since this css from adobeformscentral.com there is nothing we can do from Sitecore to remove the shade, but this must be handled where you create the form."
I really need some help or instructions to pass on to the developer or if there is something I should do to help this problem. It's due to launch as a competition on May 1st, a bit stressed, can't publish it like this.

The 4/22/2013 release of FormsCentral introduced this problem. It affects IE versions 6, 7, 8. We are working on a fix that should be available by Tuesday 4/30/2013 but cannot guarantee the exact date. I'll keep you posted.
