Blurry Profile Picture... FOR GODS SAKE, PLEASE FI...

I can't wrap my mind around the fact that Skype either doesn't give a **bleep** or is literally not able to fix the blurry profile picture bug that haunts Skype for almost a year now. How HARD can it be to fix it?
For months and months me and other people are waiting for a fix, but nothing happens.
Skype Portable was the only way for people with Windows 7 to get a nonblurry profile picture, but after the update even that doesn't work anymore.
WAKE UP SKYPE!!! Please.

I have tried all kinds of sizes and formats, it's always blurry compared to the original. Every contact in my list that I asked about this has the same problem, besides one person who doesn't have Windows 7.
Please post a picture that wouldn't turn out blurry if used as a profile pic. I'm curious.
Also, about saying they should need to fix more important things... this problem is here for a YEAR! Don't you think they should be able to fix this "little" issue in this long amount of time? A lot of people are bothered by it, just google skype blurry profile picture.

Try resetting your iPhone. Hold the on/off and home buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.
On a separate point, you may wish to consider updating your iPhone if you're still on iOS 5.0.1 as your post says.

Blurry profile picture - again!!!

I try to update my profile pictures at least every other year, and every time I go through hell! Why isn't Skype posting official information on required pixel dimensions, picture size and other relevant information? It is notoriously difficult to format the picture for a good result. I simply want a profile picture somewhat similar to the sharpness of my original. And - please - don't tell me my file is too big. I am perfectly able to format a .jpg file, sharp as a knife, at 13 KB.
I have enclosed a picture that clearly shows the discrepancy between the original and the Skype-version.
In closing, I would like to add that I work with 3D and image editing on a daily basis. It simply doesn't make any sense that I can't get a simple profile picture to display properly. Twitter, Indiegogo and others do it without problems. Why is this such a nightmare with Skype?

Same issue here. I even updated my profile picture using the 4288x2848 original file. The original file is sharp. But then, when saved, the profile picture on the skype app on the mac looks a bit pixelated. And when I check on the skype website, then it is completely blurred and pixelated.
We need help with this...

Whenever I log into Skype from my Mac(as I also use a windows PC) all contact profile pictures appear blurry. Why is that? Any hints?

AD is a rubbish source for photos, as stated they only go up to 96x96 pixels, which is never going to look good when blown up to 300x300 (2013 default for large).
In 2010 the image sizes at least matched up in SharePoint to AD, the medium sized image was 96x96. In 2013 it's worse as all three images need to be re-scaled.
If you want the pictures to be clean then you'll need to re-import them from a source image 300x300 or larger. This blog may be of interest:

I Can't Change My Profile Picture... Please help!

So for the past 3 weeks I havent been able to change my profile picture on Skype. :/ I mean I can still take a picture and use it but I want to use a picture that I already had.
But then when I go to the change profile picture option and click on the "Browse..." option it wont open at all!! And when I went to Tools > Options the options tab wouldnt open either and it would just make that noise if an error message would come on but an error message didnt come on at all! And when I try to close Skype by going down to the user bar at the bottom and right clicking > quit it would make that noise too! So now I have to manually close it by going down the File tab. I dont know whats going on with my Skype. Please help. :/

Do you by chance have Logitech QuickCam webcam connected to your computer?
You can also try to reset all Skype settings.
Quit Skype or use Windows Task Manager to kill any Skype.exe process. Go to Windows Start and in the Search/Run box type %appdata% and then press Enter or click the OK button. The Windows File Explorer will pop up. There locate a folder named “Skype”. Rename this folder to something different, e.g. Skype_old. Restart Skype.
N.B. If needed, you will still be able to re-establish your call and chat history. All data is still saved in the Skype_old folder.

Regarding your concern, changing profile picture using your phone is not possible. However, you can always do this with the use of your computer.

I have read thought he other thread again. No one has reported back that they have raised the issue with their carrier, just that they would do. They may have solved it but who knows.
So it would be useful to get feedback from someone who has spoken with their carrier and had it solved at that level, or had the carrier raise it with RIM. If everyone who has the issue does that, the answer may well be forthcoming.

Blurry Profile Picture

So for over a year now I've had trouble getting a skype picture to actually look decent. I know the size is 480x480. Everytime I upload a picture, it turns out to be blurry. The left pic is how its supposed to look, the right is how skype makes it look when i upload it. there used to be a workaround where you could login skype 5 portable and change it, however user are now unable to use older skype versions. is there any solution for this? thanks

Selecting Profile Picture for Microsoft Messenger

I have imported all of my pictures into iPhoto '09. I can see them there.
In Microsoft Messenger I want to select one of the photos for my profile. When I click the "+" to bring up the mini finder window, it takes me to the Pictures folder. In there I see the iPhoto Library but it is "grey" and there is no arrow to expand to see the pictures etc. Is there something that I need to do to make the pictures available in iPhoto?

Windows 8 reinstall, not 8.1 for gods sake, Total factory reset with Factory disk

I downloaded the windows 8.1 system on my factory 8 system. Major problems occurred. Now I need to install windows 8 to factory settings. I am looking to do a clean install as my pc has less than 25 hrs on it even though it is 1.5 years old.
It is a dell 2330 all in one. I do not have much on here and it has been save to a zip drive. I would like to keep windows media and a few other programs and need a little help with this. Thanks all for the support.

Hi,
As your PC is OEM version, please contact dell for the installation/repair media (as britishdhez suggested), with that you won't need to activate Windows a second time for the clean install, it will use the key stored in your BIOS.

Need help sizing pictures for a catalogue please

I'm making a catalogue of greetings cards, so I need to place pictures of the cards (about 30 to an A3 size page) so far they are coming out really bad quality and detail- what would be the best way to save the originals (currently in photoshop)- and then the finished catalogue?? I've tried jpeg and playing with the resolution- but no luck so far.

What preview setting are you using? If using default, right-click on a particular image and choose Display Performance, and set it to High Quality Display.
Have you tried exporting to PDF and viewing the PDF? ID uses low-res previews for page display, not the actual image itself. I would use PSD files, not JPG files.

Yes, you can
In Settings, turn on Do Not Disturb to silence sounds from incoming calls and notifications. You can allow calls from your favorites, specific contacts, or contact groups. Enable Do Not Disturb manually or schedule a recurring time.

The Lumias sound equalizer for god sake !!!!!!!!!!...

I've been freustrated over this for a long time now, Music is a BOG part of my daily routine. I know my Lumia 800's hardware is quite capable of producing some excellent audio, but the lack of an equalizer ruins it all. NOKIA, do somethinig !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I use a Nokia Lumia 800 and the sound quality of the 800 is quite good. It is comparable to Nokia C7's audio quality(Nokia phone with best audio quality according to GSMArena) but during night (absolute silence) I hear a little bit of noise when the volume is approximately 10(30 max) and lower. I forgot what it is called but it is not audible in Nokia C7. But that's not the problem.
Lumia 800 had a very poor audio quality when it was launched, and you can read about it in GSMArena's Lumia 800 review. It had very low/absent bass. But Nokia fixed that with a software update.
Now it sounds good!
I bought Sony NWZ-B172F to replace my Lumia 800 thinking that Lumia 800 has a poor quality sound (but I liked it). But, still I wanted to know if it is really good or maybe I just like the bad sound. To my surprise, Lumia 800 sounds better than a dedicated MP3 player, better than a few laptops, better than iPod shuffle (when the equalizers were turned off, shuffle sucks-no equalizer). But, most of them have an equalizer, so I fine tuned them to get the desired output which was comparable/close enough to that of my Lumia 800.
One thing I noticed was that every other device that I tested lacked in mids or highs. Sony NWZ-B172F had the best, cleanest and the deepest bass(thanks to a dedicated bass button something more than an equalizer) it almost sounds like a headphone amplifier but like others it was lacking in highs and a bit in mids. So the bass is a kind of compromise.
So, I conclude that an equalizer is necessary in 1st generation Lumia phones too. (Especially on my Lumia 800!) Especially with manual control/custom equaliser. I want to be able to fine tune the audio output of this device. I'm an audio quality and music freak.
I just updated to latest Nokia Music app. and it says that EQ and Dolby Sound is only available for Windows Phone 8 devices. That is not good!
But, the people in US are already using EQ on 1st gen Lumia. (I read it on the web)
Maybe we people ( 1st Gen Lumia buyers) were being used as beta testers. #smartphone beta test
And still no sign of WP7.8 update.
