Blurry Renders

Hi,
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
I have a NTSC DV Widescreen sequence with some 3:2 anamorphic footage and some motion graphics rendered out of After Effects using Animation codec (100% quality) and the comp settings are for DV widescreen. I've also set the FCP sequence settings compressor to none. Graphics look crisp. Can't play down the timeline but the edit is locked so I don't need to. I'm ready to output.
When I render out (using Quicktime conversion) All the After Effects renderings get really soft and blurry. I used h.264 and motion jpeg codecs. It almost looks like you can see some ghosting of image giving it all a blurry look. Could it be a field issue? Maybe the incorrect sequence setting in FCP?
Not sure what to do.
Thanks!

When the Animation codec is dropped into a DV timeline, it takes on the DV compression...so it won't look nearly as crisp as it did before. The solution is not to use a DV sequence, but rather a DV50 sequence...far better compression. Yes, you will have to render EVERYTHING, as the DV is not DV50.

  • Export pictures blurry - rendering FCE

    Hi,
    I have Final Cut Express and I'm having much difficulty exporting. I'm not using video, I'm only using pictures, and movement to those pictures. When I export the project, it comes out extremely pixilated. But it's only when the picture is moving. Once the picture stops for a few seconds, it's clear. Then the next one comes out super pixilated again. Iv'e exported a similar project before and it turned out great. So I don't know what I changed or what needs to be done. It didn't work in QT and when I try in QT conversion my green rendering bars on my project turn red right when I click on the QT conversion button. I'm sure it's something in my project before I export, but don't know what.
    Please Help.
    Thank you,

  • Indesign Animation Blurry in FXL EPUB

    Hi InDesign EPUB experts. I am trying to create a kid's book with animations and (eventually) read-aloud text. I am also trying some 3rd party apps which do the read-aloud tagging, but whose animations are LAME. So this example is with InDesign native animations. These do almost what I want, without having to go out to Edge Animate and learn yet another program and import that (which I imagine has it's own problems).
    My question is: why are my moving kids here getting all blurry and pixelated during the movement? They are 300 dpi at the large size and are a png. (for this little sample I just left the rez at 300, I might want to down sample for the whole book). The movement and sizing is just about as good as I can get for this purpose, but the blurry rendering is completely unacceptable. Why is this happening and is there anything I can do to fix it?
    Thanks to any one who can give me a clue.

    Also related question: can one edit the movement path of a native InDesign animation? That is make the straight path curved? I've tried with the direct selection tool, but I don't seem to be able to do it.

Could you please try updating the JDK and see if the issue is solved?
    I am really curious to know if the issue is fixed.
    Updating the JDK fixed the fuzzy rendering Unfortunately it's introduced a new problem where the UI font (not the code editor font) is too big.

  • C# Universal App Unity bad card game render

    Hello,
    I am working on a card game designed in Unity and I am getting some blurry rendering.
    I thought perhaps someone here may know why.
    I only get strange rendering when building for Windows Store and Window Phone.
    Building for Desktop does not have rendering issues.
    Below are links to the rendered output.
    Desktop:
    http://1drv.ms/1GzQ7Qh
    Windows Store:
    http://1drv.ms/186ocZK
    Windows Phone:
    http://1drv.ms/186oi3A
    Why is the Windows Store build blurry?
    Notice that the Windows Phone render has even more problems.
    There appears to be what I think is an antialiasing problem on the right and top edges of the images.
    Notice that the empty hand with the no score disk, has noticeable streaks up and to the right.
    Also notice that the cards have a black rectangle to the right of them.
    I believe this is happening because I do not have a completely transparent border around the png file.
    All images are textures on a Unity plane object.
    The Windows Store and Windows Phone build were created as C# Universal App solution.

    Hi Takimchu,
    If you are asking unity render problem, I would recommend you post your question on unity community forum. This forum is to discuss questions about windows store app.

  • Lightroom 3 Large previews are soft...

    Last Year I posted on this forum how on my Mac with Lightroom 3 I was getting soft previews of photo's, well here we are a year later and I still cant use lightroom in my workflow because of this soft preview issue, It's pissing me off to no end.
    When viewing my 5D mkII raw files...and other camera model raw files, in the Library & Develop modules, the large preview image in both modules gives a slightly blurry rendering of the photo, if I zoom to 100% I can see the file's actuall sharpness, but I need to be able to run through thousands of files from a shoot and quickly pick out the sharp images from the misfocused one's, which is impossible with this issue.
    So now a year later I'm inquiring again to you on this forum and Adobe technicians to help me resolve this issue once and for all.
    P.S. For the record, this issue has been here from the day I installed LR3.
    My hardware: 2009 Mac Pro with 12GB of Ram, Eizo CE240W 24" Display at 1920X1200.
    From what I gather this is a known issue, but reading the below link/posts, I've not found a solution… http://forums.adobe.com/message/3009930#3009930
    Thanks, looking forward to your thoughts.

    Hi, I have exactly the same issue in LR3, this was not happening in previous version of LR.
    When I import picture into LR, I also build "standart previews", which leads to slight soft preview when reviewing picture in the library module (going to the develop module does not help here). Zooming to 100%, waiting for the full rendering then zooming back solve the issue for the current photo. This seems to happen on random pictures since even if I worked on the picture, viewed it at 100% in a previous Lightroom session, it just render it blurry.
    Here is a sample showing the issue, the first link show a screenshot just before I zoom at 100%, the second link, just after:
    Screen shot before zoom
    Screen shot after zoom
    It also happen with more modest picture size on the screen (when all panels are shown).
    So, it seems like there is a bug somewhere in LR preview rendering.
    Cheers,
    Philippe.
    Edit: open links in new browser tab or windows: the image viewer of the Adobe forums show only a reduced version of the screenshots behind the previous links.

  • Rendering in 5.1.4 produces blurry images?

    Hello,
    I just updated FCP studio 1 to 5.1.4 and now when I render things the final graphics/video look blurry like it is still in preview mode. Does this have to do with something in
    5.1.3? Does this problem sound familiar? Is there a sequence setting somewhere that I need to change?
    Jordan

    I checked my settings all around including the RT section. I switched the playback control from low to Dynamic playback quality and that did it. Now in an earlier version of
    FCP 5.1.1, I had the playback quality set to low and frame rate set to dynamic, so what has changed in version 5.1.4?
    Also in response to your question, what settings should I have for rendering?
    Thanks,
    Jordan

  • Blurry/Scanlines where ever there's motion when rendered as Windows Media

    Hi,
    I'm using PrE 9 and trying to save/share/render my clips as Windows Media -- as it seems to have the best compression without sacrificing video quality too much.
    However, no matter what I set the quality settings to, I get motion blur - more like horizontal scan lines where ever there is motion. If there's no motion, quality is fine. It only shows up, when there's motion e.g. hand gestures or head movements produce it and it's quite visible.
    If I use the MPEG setting, I get perfect quality. Clearly it's a setting somewhere in the WMV preset. I used the HD 720p 30 preset to export my clip.
    Any idea what might be causing these blurry scan lines where there's motion?
    P.S. My footage is shot as 1080i using my Canon Vixia HF200 camcorder.
    Thanks,
    Sam

    It's the HD 720p 30 setting. Exactly what oRBIT1975 said.
    I rendered the same project as WMV at different settings. If I export it at HD720p, I have this issue. I also rendered it as WMV at 1920 x 1080 and the artifacts were gone.
    I captured the footage using my Canon Vixia HF200 at 1920x1080, 24Mbps quality and 30 fps (PF30). So I figured HD720p 30 would be a nice way to downsize the footage. I really want to be able to bring the size down because my videos are for web and don't need the full HD size or the huge file size that comes with it.
    One idea is to capture my footage at HD 720 but I'm old school and I always try to keep my footage at highest possible quality because I can't predict what I'll do with them in the future e.g. what if I want to make DVDs out of them. So I really want to keep my "input" files at the highest possible quality I can, given my current equipment.
    I do want to get to the bottom of this issue. Looks like lowering the frame size to 1280 x 720 is producing these interlace artifacts because I keep everything else the same. Is there a way to fix this issue and still export WMV's or will I simply have to export them as MPEGs because MPEG at 1280x720 produces nice results.
    Thank you all for your help.
    Sam

    That's going to be a ridiculous waste of money and energy.
    First of all, the current ATI drivers don't support multiple GPUs, so at the moment even a single 4870X2 would be only a 'normal' 4870 (which is quite a speed beast already). GFX drivers evolve rapidly, so things might look different next month, but when it comes to Linux and hardware there's one Golden Rule: stay away from the newest stuff and wait for proper support to get coded.
    I also wonder what power supply could possibly cope with the differences between idle and full load; that's way beyond 400W. But then, I'm one of those "quiet&green" types where >100W idle is already a bit much.
    I kind of understand that you want to get it done and not worry about hardware for the next 10 years or so, but that's simply not how the hardware world works and never did. At least not for the average consumer.

  • Encoding JPEG renders "blurry"

    I have created a java servlet that dynamically renders an image for use as a heading for each page. The servlets works fine, except for when a "background image" is used to go behind the text.
    Here is what the result looks like:
    http://www.mikelukenonline.com/servlets/lmp-framework?page_name=dynamicText&fontName=Old%20English%20Text%20MT&fontColor=168~167~167&shaddow=Y&fontSize=28&backgroundColor=white&text=Welcome%20to%20this%20site&width=500&x=11&y=21&height=34&backgroundImage=http://www.mikelukenonline.com/images/headings/titleblank2.jpg
    One of the parameters in the URL is called "backgroundImage" which takes a URL of a jpg and draws that first. In this example, the background image is:
    http://www.mikelukenonline.com/images/headings/titleblank2.jpg
    Now if you look at the background image that I just listed, you see that it looks pretty clear. However, if you look at the full link above, you can see that the baclground image is "blurry" or "pixilated" - not sure the best work to describe it!
    It is also worth noting that it is only when using the background image that it looks bad. If you remove the backgroundImage parameter, the text is rendered just fine:
    http://www.mikelukenonline.com/servlets/lmp-framework?page_name=dynamicText&fontName=Old%20English%20Text%20MT&fontColor=168~167~167&shaddow=Y&fontSize=28&backgroundColor=white&text=Welcome%20to%20this%20site&width=500&x=11&y=21&height=34
    I have tried everything I can think of and I can't get past this issue. Below are samples from the servlet. Any thoughts at all would be greatly appreciated!
    This is the code that "draws" the final image:
    private java.awt.Graphics.Graphics graphics = null;
    private java.awt.Image.Image image = null;

                   mt.addImage(image, 0);
                   mt.waitForAll();

                   graphics = offscreen.getGraphics();
                   graphics.drawImage(image, 0, 0, frame);
                         graphics.dispose();
                   com.sun.image.codec.jpeg.JPEGImageEncoder encoder = com.sun.image.codec.jpeg.JPEGCodec.createJPEGEncoder(response.getOutputStream());
                   com.sun.image.codec.jpeg.JPEGEncodeParam param = encoder.getDefaultJPEGEncodeParam(offscreen);

                   encoder.encode(offscreen);

  • After rendering the video is blurry and pixelated.

    I have 70 + hours invested in this edit.  I recently rendered it for the first time and it became blurry and pixellated.  I published it to see if it would come out clear but it did not.  I found the tab for deteting rendered files and this seemed to help a little.  I published that one and it was a little less blurry but still poor quality.  How can I get the video back to the pre-render quality.  I am using Powerpoint slides saved as jpegs.  I did this in another video and the finished video was super clear, however, now after I rendered this one I am unable to get that same quality.

    You need to supply more details than you have in order to get to the core of the issue.
    What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running? What do your computer resources look like, installed and available RAM, total and free hard drive space, location and free space for the Scratch Disks?
    What are the properties of the source media that you are putting on the Timeline?
    Based on the properties of your source media, what is the project preset that you or the program are setting in the new project dialog?
    Video (video audio compression, frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, file extension, duration, PAL vs NTSC, camera source, etc.)
    Photos (how many, what format, what pixel dimensions)
    What is your export choice and settings?
    Let us start here and then we can decide the troubleshooting strategy.
    Thank you.

  • Confused! Video I captured rendered blurry. Titles & "outside" video rendered clear

    Here is a link to the video that may make this more clear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fmz7-cLqblQ
    I am very very very new to all this, so please be patient.
    I captured video using a DSLR - Canon T1i - which shoots in HD. I imported it to Adobe Premiere CS3 as an .avi. I created some titles in Premiere and also imported some video I received from an outside source.
    The video I captured was dark, so I used the enhancement features in premiere (brightness/contrast, color levels, etc.) to lighten it up. I checked "preserve luminosity".
    When I put all these things together in Premiere, it was completely clear in my preview screen. When I rendered and then played back it back on my computer, the video I captured on my T1i was completely blurry.  Everything else was crystal clear. I checked on google and many people were saying this happens a lot when watching it from your own computer (?) but to upload it to youtube or vimeo and it should be fine. I did that (took hours!) only to find the same thing is happening there.
    I want to tell you what settings I had the video project started in, but I am not sure how to go back and find that out. I know I tried to do the HD settings. If you could tell me how to do that, I am perfectly happy to go back and check the settings for the video or whatever else you need to know.
    Thank you very much for your help!

    I just experienced the same thing today. I bought a new White MacBook this weekend (I installed all the latest software updates). I published an imovie project to iTunes using the medium setting (Share->iTunes->MEDIUM). I saw the same artifacts that you are seeing. I republished the movie using the LARGE setting and the artifacts were gone. This is my workaround for now.
