Blurry spots on monitor

Hi,
This is my first issue and question. I have a Mac Pro that I purchased a year ago and have had it hooked up to the same monitor (Gateway) and today when I turned it on there are places that appear blurry. If I am in some applications or email or menus areas appear blurry where others are as sharp as can be. I opened my menu and moved it around and in areas it is clear and others blurry. Also if I move my mouse over areas the page jumps ever so slightly and the text or small image appears blurry or clear. Is this my monitor or video/graphics card.
Thanks

Hi,
Yes I have a dvi cable and yes running at max native resolution.
I have played around with all the settings and nothing changes it so went back to the native settings. I have no other computer that has digital capacity so no way to test computer or monitor. The other LCD monitor I have for some reason no matter what I set resolution to will not work. Keeps saying out of range. It is a Gateway 17" but I can not find model anywhere on it, it has the same model number as my 19". So trying to test the monitor/computer theory is trying me.
I went to the Nvadia site to try and get help again I am not finding anyone with same issue and posted the same question but they can not answer unless I post it in a different thread...ugh! My husband said to look for new drivers but they had nothing listed for a Mac and I am not sure you get drivers like a PC would....I am just an artist...:) and he is so PC.
I hate to buy a new monitor when it is something else...
Again all has been fine for over a year and I have changed nothing until this issue started yesterday but I am back to the same set up as before because as I stated nothing has helped...this all just started yesterday.
Thanks for your help.

  • Blurry and shaking monitor on iBook G4.

I have an iBook G4 that is about 2.5 years old. Just today I started to have problems with my monitor. It's blurry in some spots, clear in others. (I can move a text file around on the screen and see the words go in and out of focus.) It also shakes, sometimes by as much as 10 or 15 pixels in any direction, about once every few seconds. I haven't dropped the laptop recently (or ever, to be honest) and I haven't done anything out of the ordinary that may have caused these problems. Does anyone have any clues or suggestions as to what might be going on?
If it helps to know: when the computer has just been turned on and is loading, everything is perfectly clear and normal. After the menu bar loads, the screen quickly becomes blurry and expands a bit (I know it "expands" because the dock is lower and closer to the periphery of the screen). The same thing happens when I shut down or restart my computer: it'll be blurry and shaking, but after all the applications close and it's ready to turn off I notice that my screen is clear and normally-sized again.
Thanks in advance for any help.
EDIT: Also, it might help to know that the shakiness doesn't seem to correspond to me moving my cursor or anything like that... and that the blurry spots are distributed throughout the screen and aren't just on the edges.

    Hey Madam,
First try an external monitor and post back.
The first thing that comes to mind is the GPU and it's possible that a shim repair will fix it.

  • How do i clean spots on monitor of macbook pro with retina display?

how do i clean spots on monitor of macbook pro with retina display?

Light alcohol cleaners, like what you use for camers lenses, works.  Just do not have the soft cloth cleaning pad dripping wet ... dripping wet will allow fluid to get onto internal components.

  • Blurry spots on screen

I have blurry spots all over inside my computer screen-giving a slightly blurred effect. It is not on my screen-i checked to see if the glass was smudged or dirty and is not. can someone help me fix this problem?

Wireless router would not affect the LCD panel.
My 12" started to develop blurry/bright white patches on the display. Luckily I was under Applecare and Apple replaced the LCD panel.
If you haven't, try resetting the PMU (this will also reset the PRAM). To do so, hold down:
Shift + Control + Option and press the Power button. Do this while the computer is off. Doing this while the computer is on will force it to do a hard shutdown.
Otherwise, see if the issue happens on an external display is possible, although in this case I don't think it will since it does not sound like a typical logicboard issue...

  • PowerShot SD1300IS has dark blurry spot on inside lens, shows up on picture. What to do?

When I zoom in the dark blurry spot expands.  Is there anyway to get rid of it?  i looked on Youtube but taking the camera apart looks pretty complicated.  What is the source of the spot as it seems to be a closed system?  Please advise.

    Hello Magoose,
From what you describe of this issue it sounds as though there is either something either on the lens or embedded inside the lens.  If cleaning the lens with a cleaning kit does not resolve the issue then you may need to consider sending this to Canon for evaluation.  We do not recommend that you attempt the repair yourself.
To arrange for service, or to contact Canon directly, please visit the service and support section on our web site at your earliest convenience.  You can arrive directly there through this Link.

  • Photos Look Blurry on NTSC monitor when played from timeline

When I play back jpeg photos from my timeline on my monitor, the pictures look a bit blurry, especially right at the end of my transition, such as a cross dissolve...When I stop the playhead on a jpeg, after about 1 second, the image becomes very sharp on the monitor...once I start playing again, the image becomes a bit blurry!

    Dave,
On both my G4 and G5, I've encountered the same problem from time to time and here's the workaround that fixed it for me:
Apply a filter to the images. I use the 3-Way Color Corrector since many of the photos could stand a little tweaking for TV anyway. Render them and they should retain their original sharpness.
I have no idea what causes the problem, why it only affects some of the images and not all of them, nor do I know why re-rendering them after applying a filter works ... but it does for me.
    -DH
ps: another symptom that this fix takes care of is when you see a small shift (1 or 2 pixels) in the image's position as it comes out of a transition.

  • Apple Macbook Pro w/Retina Blurry w/ External Monitor

I bought new HP 2311x monitor and connecting it thorugh the DVI to MiniDisplay port adapter. The text on the screen is very blurry. This is only happening with the retina macbook pro. I tried several other laptops and no issue.
I called apple support and they stated they can not guarentee results with third party products. The resolution to buy a 1,000 apple monitor is not a good answer.
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Any Fix?
If you are, please post to this thread with the model monitor you are using and how it is connect. This needs to be fixed by APPLE!!!!!!!!

I tried all those things very first, monitor setup (All that did with that is screw up perfect settings on my monitor that worked perfectly with windows machine) and sparsely available display settings on Mac. Anyway, I am still perplexed as to why the thunderbolt port next to charging port suks so bad but not the other port that is away from it?
Retina settings has nothing to do with external display which is what we are working on. Retina settings are only for the laptop display.
My extrnal display is recognizing the monitor's native resolution and it sets correct resolution. It is just that Mac has TUNED its graphics for RETINA (non-native) display which does not like to support non-retina normal (native) display. You know how apple works. I'm sure it will work flawlessly with Apple Monitor because they exactly know their defeciencies on laptop so they correct it with Apple product.
Anyway, all that will do for Apple is defame them more than they will make on selling their monitors!
Good luck Apple, you will need it, unless you really start addressing issues (First step is acceptance of the issue!)

  • Program monitor blurry but source monitor is clear

Please...I have imported tifs at 1280x800, and they look clear in the source monitor, but when placed on the timeline, they look slightly blurry...noticeably blurry. Video does the same thing. What setting am I missing? Thx.

Sorry Jeff and Jim...actually OTS means over the shoulder...we used it in tv news...so it is a box that is superimposed like a picture in picture over the shoulder of an anchor...and we need it to be 4x3, or so we thought, because that is close to the size that the powerpoint is kicking out...hence the 1280x800. I can make the OTS any size we need to, just so it doesn't squish the words or distort them.
So the final product is widescreen 16:9, with a 4:3ish box (OTS)...all being used for online classes, final screen size yet to be determined, in flash.
That said, I cannot get a clean image in my timeline, even though the source monitor shows the image very clearly.
I would love to email one of the powerpoint images to someone who is willing so that they might load it up in premiere and help me out with the correct numbers for correct sizing out of powerpoint and into premiere.
I'm an old AVID cutter, (story editor for food network and HGTV for the last 8 years) trying to switch it up because premiere CS3 seems pretty powerful as I get more and more into it, and my avid seems slower than usual, undependable.
I dont know the terminology as well as I should, depended on IT guys a little too much on our production systems...now I am on my own with relatively new machines and, well, it FEELS like I am on my own! any help you could provide, it goes without saying, would be a Godsend. Willing to learn. Need to get this project fixed, and soon. thx.

  • MackBook Air 13" and Samsung SyncMaster TA550 Monitor

I have MacBook Air 13" and I try to set up Samsung TA550 27" monitor to work with it. Now my MacBook does not want to use the requested (by Samsung) resolution 1920 x 1080 but only pushes lower resolutions. How can get this solved? I connect it with HDMI to HDMI using a MDPHDMI-HT adapter and I have done this already:
    1. Open MENU
    2. Go to "Input"
    3. Select "Edit Name" to open up the "Edit Name" sub menu.
    4. Scroll down to "HDMI" and select it, (watch carefully)
    5. Now assign "PC" or "DVI PC" to the HDMI setting BUT NOT VOILA :-(

There's a lot of threads on "blurry text" in these forums.  Here's a google search:
    blurry text on monitor site:discussions.apple.com
I didn't check any of these so I don't know if there's any useful info there.
Not sure why your MBA sees the resolution as 1080i as opposed to the (equivalent?) 1920 x 1080. Maybe if you play with different font sizes you can clear things up a little.

  • Monitor Settings and Captivate Settings

I'm always getting some complaints about the fuzziness of our
Captivate movies. I've seen movies on some websites that are
definitely sharper than ours. While not terrible, I certainly would
like to improve the quality of what we are getting.
I'm using a 1280x1084 monitor and most of the captures we're
doing are at 800x600 or so. Many of the dialog boxes in the demos
we're creating have text that isn't all that clear at this setting.
Even cranking up the quality setting in the Publish options all the
way up doesn't seem to help much.
A colleague likes to set her monitor at 1024x768. Even if she
sets her monitor at 1280x768, and does her captures at 800x600, her
captures aren't quite as sharp as mine. Something seems that it
must be different in her setup, but every monitor setting we look
    at appears identical to mine.
Can folks share what settings they are using that render nice
    sharp results?
Would better hardware/monitors/video cards/anything like that
    help us?

Are you saying that your colleague's published projects look
worse than yours no matter which PC they are viewed on or are you
saying that everything looks blurrier on her monitor than yours?
Just wondering if we're talking about Captivate publish
settings for her projects or her Windows display settings...
Great question Rick. Just this morning we did some more
testing - and lo and behold, if I view movies she recorded, they
look just fine on my monitor. She is working on a laptop, and
normally uses a flat panel monitor when working (rather than the
laptop monitor). She seems to have the same problem no matter what
monitor she is hooked up to, so we are suspecting something in her
laptop is causing the problem. We're not super-hardware-savvy
though, so aren't sure what to start looking at.
Though my captures do appear better, I still think they could
be sharper, so I'm trying to figure out what else I might be able
to do to optimize their appearance.

  • Xperia Z2 with Google Camera Photosphere only produces Crap Pics Help or suggestions needed.

    Hi,
I have the same problems with my Sony Xperia Z2
I hope somebody has found a solution for this.
I really like the phone and it would be a pity to have to sell it again because i use Photosphere a lot.
Actually, I was completely satisfied with the Experia Z2.
The camera also superb! Close-Up DSLR quality.
But the main reason for the purchase was the possibility to use Google Photospere for private and professional use.
Unfortunately, I have now found that my Xperia Z2 in conjunction with Google photosphere only produces images that are really not worth to be published .Errors and blurry spots and areas in ANY! Image.
I must say that I already tried all possible settings and resolutions .I have downloaded the latest version of Google camera and on the Z2 runs Android 4.4.4
I do not mean the normal error or is not appropriate Stiching but quite massive focus error.
For comparison, I previously had a Note 3 with an 8 MP camera.
The Note 3 I sold again only because of bad connection quality.
But the Note 3 has perfect spherical panoramas generated without the error occurring in the Xperia Z2.
So the app is not the problem.
My guess is that the Z2 camera focuses just completely wrong when creating some of the images.
And Google photosphere can of course also generated solely those blurred images with.
I would not like to have to sell the Z2 again because I completely satisfied bin.Everything else works well with everything outside photosphere.
If someone has had similar experiences or if someone has a solution for this I would be very grateful.
I have here some excerpts panorama link so that you can see what I mean.
This blurring spots and areas are common to all views and in a wide variety of lighting situations and settings.

If i sent the phone to the repair service most likely they'll tell me they are not responsible for any non Sony Apps behaviour.
But actually no other Z2 user i talked to so far had this problem.

But photosphere its available for other Phones, not just Xperias.

  • Updated to 10.4.10 - cause display issue?

I just updated to 10.4.10 and now my text is blurry on my monitor.
I have a 20' cinema display and this happened as soon as I restarted. Both the monitor and G5 were purchased 3+ years ago.
I'm not nuts - I work on the box 8 hours a day - it's my personal computer I make my living from.
Could the update have made the graphics card screw up? I really don't know too much about the technical side of things. Looking for suggestions.
    Thanks!
    Dual 1.8gb G5     ATI Radeon 9600 XT

You will need to reinstall from the disks that came with your computer, and then install the 10.4.9 update. No, you cannot revert.
Yopu might try reinstalling 10.4.10, with a Combo version, first.

  • Question re set up: Samsung Blu Ray Disc - 55" Samsung LED 3DHDTV - Denon Receiver

We brought this package home yesterday.  We have it hooked up as follows, pursuant to Best Buy's recommendations at the store where we bought it:  We have the Bresnan cable box hooked into the Denon receiver in the appropriate place with an HDMI cord. We have the Blu Ray Disc hooked up to the Denon receiver in the appropriate place using an HDMI receiver.  We have an HDMI cord in the spot marked "Monitor" on the Denon receiver running to the HDMI1 spot on the Television.  Everything works fine, except for one problem.  We can't watch cable television without the Blu Ray disc ON. If we are watching something on cable, and we turn off the Blu Ray disc, we get fuzzy white and black "ant races", but we can still hear the program.  We have to unplug the Blu Ray Disc if we don't want it running all the time.  I assume this could be bad for a Blu Ray.  This does not make any sense at all.  They should all operate independently of each other.   I have also called technical support and they are stumped.  Waiting for a call back from a sales person at the local store.  Anyone out there have any ideas.  The store sales people suggested that the best way to connect the components was with HDMI cords.  I have already spent $300.00 on HDMI cords alone.  Hopefully, someone out there has some ideas.  THanks.

Hi again - I thought I would report back to you on the status of my issue.  I stopped by our Best Buy store and talked to another person again.  We wanted to see if we could bring back the Denon receiver and switch it out for another one.  After explaining our situation, the guy talked to his manager.  The manager had a suggestion that we try before switching out the receivers.  I don't necessarily understand it, but you probably will.  He said (and this is NOT verbatim - just kind of what I picked up out of the conversation) that because we were using two Samsung compenents (BD and TV), that they were trying to work with one another, but we had some kind of interference with the Denon receiver and the Bresnan cable box, and that something was getting caught up and trying to work back through the BD.  Like I said, I don't understand it completely.  He suggested we go to our TV menu and find where it says Anynet+.  We were to check to see if that was turned on.  He wanted us to turn it off.  Once we did that, everything started working great.  So we are up and running with a simple menu fix.  Thank goodness it was that easy.  I thought I would just report this to you so that in case you see any more similar problems, you can try this fix.
Thanks again for your help yesterday.  Have a great day.
