Blurry SVG files

Hello all
Am attempting to bring in a chart which was created in Illustrator into Edge to animate the data series.
The chart was saved as a SVG file at the same size as the stage in Edge.
However, when I drag the SVG onto the stage, it's extemely blurry and I can't use such a poor quality image.
Any solutions to this issue??
Thanks
S

Since SVG are xml you could make the image much larger with little size impact and you would get a clearer image.

  • How do I use an Edge Animate project with SVG files in InDesign for DPS output?

    Is there any way to include an Edge Animate web content using .svg files in InDesign for output to DPS?
    Edge Animate works great with InDesign, except for when you're using SVG files. I've worked with SVG files on the web successfully (writing .htaccess files and such), but it seems like InDesign doesn't like them.
    This is pretty important because I don't want to have to design multiple renditions on the DPS suite. Currently I have it setup as a PDF format (DPS) and that scales all of the vector-based type perfectly. It would be wonderful if the animations could also be in a vector format so that when the iPad (3) users see the designs, they will scale naturally through the PDF framework.
    Any advice would be invaluable.
    Thanks!

  • How to save an SVG file without opening it in a browser tab first?

    Sometimes I have to download very large SVG files. These files are generated dinamically by a web server, when I select some options in a web form. Thus, there is no link to click: an action on the web page causes Firefox to spawn a new tab and try to open the SVG file inside it. The file can be very large, and Firefox can get stuck in trying to display it, before I can right-click on the image and select "save as" to get the file I'm interested in.
    I would like that, upon requesting an SVG web resource, Firefox ask me how I want to deal with the resource: displaying it online, opening with an external application, or saving it - exactly in the same fashion as with PDF files.
    Thank you!

    The only way to get Firefox to offer to save the SVG image would be to force a content type that Firefox doesn't recognize as supported natively.

  • Is it possible to export Vector Smart Objects as vector SVG files from Photoshop CC 2014?

    I have Vector Smart Objects copied from Illustrator and pasted into Photoshop. I would like to export them as vector SVG files (using Generator or Extract Assets). I can add the .svg extension to the layer and actually export an SVG just fine. The problem is any SVG I have exported have all been raster images. It defeats the purpose of having that as an option as far as I'm concerned.
    I remember watching and listening to keynotes and other speakers at Adobe MAX 2014 who said it was so powerful and amazing to create SVG files from Photoshop. If we're still exporting raster SVG files from Photoshop...that's not very impressive or exciting--especially since this era of modern web development benefits greatly from using vector SVG files.
    I understand that Shape Layers can be exported as vector SVG files but that seems very limiting. I also realize that users can create some impressive vectors in Photoshop, but that is not optimal. Illustrator is a better tool for creating vectors and I normally use Photoshop and Illustrator side-by-side. I know that vector SVG files can be exported from Illustrator but that isn't as user friendly and convenient as utilizing Photoshop > Generator > Reflow.
    My idea was to create my assets in Illustrator, paste them into Photoshop as Vector Smart Objects, set up my layout, and then use the Generator/Reflow method or Extract Assets to get a new web design started.
    Maybe I misunderstood what the speakers at Adobe MAX had said. Perhaps it's just user error and I'm just missing something simple (it happens).
    Photoshop CC 2014 notes the following under Help > System Info:
    Adobe Photoshop Version: 2014.2.2 20141204.r.310 2014/12/04:23:59:59 CL 994532  x64
    Operating System: Windows 8.1 64-bit
    Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your time.

    Not quite the same, but have a look at the new Libraries feature that came with 2014.2.2  I just tried it, and dragging a vector object into a library I created in Photoshop, was there in Illustrator.  This happens without having to close and reopen Illustrator.  Just use the drop down at the top of the Libraries panel (in Illustrator) to find your custom, or job specific library.

    javax.imageio API allows you to write/create a jpeg/png/bmp/wbmp ... image format. I don't think there's support for svg. you'll have to look for some third party plugin.

  • Reducing SVG File Size

    I'm using Wallaby for simple animations, and as long as you remember what Flash features aren't supported (eg, filters), it's working fine. However, the SVG files are rather bloated. I've brought them into Illustrator and re-saved them, which resulted in a huge reduction in file size.
    One gotcha to fix: For whatever reason (Wallaby guys?), an underscore is placed before the font name, as in _Book Antiqua. Illustrator of course can't find the font. Open the SVG file that Wallaby generates with a text editor (I used TextWrangler) to remove the underscore, and all will be well.
    The resulting animations work fine on Webkit browsers (including Safari iOS). I'm assuming code for Gecko browsers is coming. Unfortunately, nonWebkit browsers grab the first frame of the animation and display that. The work around is to take a screenshot of the SWF's final state, optimize it, import that into the first frame of a new Flash layer, insert a keyframe in the second frame, and delete the screen shot. No animation, but a pretty reasonable image.
    Wallaby is a great idea because (IMHO) nothing beats Flash as an environment for creating animations. I'm sure Wallaby will become only better with time, though improving it  obviously nontrivial. Thanks, Wallaby guys, for a great effort.

    Hello,
    Hmmm... I've run into an unexpected problem. I'd like to scale the unscaled data from DAQmx for some calculations during the data collection, but it isn't scaling the way I would have expected.
    My range is +/-10V and the largest unscaled numbers for data filling that range are very roughly about +/-125000. I would have expected them to approach 2^31 (one bit for sign)!!  How can one scale this data?
    Also, my saved TDMS file doesn't seem to have the information that "Cont Acq&Graph Voltage - Graph Unscaled Data from File (TDMS).vi" needs to scale it.
    Regarding I16, my data is unusual in that it contains a signal of interest that is about 80 dB below the stimuli that are also in the measurement. For that reason I need the full I32 to avoid excessive quantization error in the signal of interest.
    Thanks again!

  • SVG file with links to other SVG files - links don't work

    I have an SVG image with a few dozen linked images, all of which are pointing to external SVG files. If I open the main SVG in a web browser, it loads up correctly with all the linked images, so I know the file is correct.
    When I open it in illustrator, I get the following message:
    Could not find a plug-in to read the linked file "test.svg". Choose Replace to select another file or Ignore to leave the link unchanged.
    If I choose Ignore, the file loads up but the linked SVGs are removed. Obviously Illustrator doesn't really need a plugin to read an SVG file, because it loads the main SVG with no problem.
    Meanwhile I have other links pointing to PNG files which all work fine. In fact I can open the main SVG, find one of the PNG links, and click Re-Link, and then link them to an SVG, and this will work! Although it doesn't work as desired, instead of making a link, it seems to import the external SVG's layers, which is not desired.
    I'm pretty sure it's just one of those things that will never work, but does anyone have any thoughts on making it work?
    FYI here's some source code from the main SVG, where it links to the external SVG:
    <image overflow="visible" width="420" height="300" id="_x30_1_13_" xlink:href="images\graphics\SVG\test.svg"  transform="matrix(0.2534 0 0 0.2534 438.8486 458.8145)">
                        </image>
    this link, to a PNG, works just fine:
    <image overflow="visible" width="420" height="300" id="_x30_1_14_" xlink:href="images\graphics\211.png"  transform="matrix(0.2534 0 0 0.2534 246.3306 458.8145)">
                        </image>
    and like I said, both links work fine when the main SVG is opened in a web browser.

    I think the problem is that illustrator just isn't capable of linking to an SVG from within an SVG. Try it yourself with two very simple files, I just did.
    create a "main.svg" with just a line
    create a "link.svg" with another line
    save a copy of link.svg as link.png (using export to web)
    -- now you have three files, put them all in the same directory just to make life easy
    in main.svg, file >> place >> link.png
    -- illustrator will place the PNG as a linked image
    in main.svg, file >> place >> link.svg
    -- illustrator will import layers from the SVG, it will not place it as a linked image
    If you save this file and open in a text editor, you'll see your image link to the PNG file, and you'll see two <line/> elements, one that you had in main.svg and another that you had in link.svg (it has now been imported into main.svg)
    In the text editor, try duplicating the image link, and change the href of your duplicate to link.svg, then save.
    Re-open main.svg in illustrator. It should give you the error message about the linked svg, the same one I saw originally.
    I did all this using CS6. Then I tried opening the final main.svg file in CC and saw the same error message.

  • How can I import SVG file to Flash CS5.5

    I want to import a .SVG file that I made in Inkscape to Flash CS5.5 how do I do this? Do I need to install some type of plugin/extension? Is there some way around it?

    Actually no, that's incorrect. Flash CS5.5 can NOT import PS/EPS. I've seen a few threads mentioning this, but it's not the case (maybe older versions supported that?).
    The list of supported file formats can be found here;
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash/kb/supported-file-formats-flash-professional.html
    To import PS/EPS, you'd need to convert it first through another tool, such as Illustrator.

  • Unable to view SVG files deployed on Weblogic Server (10.3)

    Hi,
    We are not able to view the svg file when we deploy our applciation to weblogic server. If we run in Eclipse it is running fine. We have also added ./config/mimemappings.properties file in the domain configuration for Mime Mapping File. The content for the same is
    htm=text/html
    gif=image/gif
    jpg=image/jpeg
    svg=image/svg+xml
    Can any body let us know the resolution for the same.
    We are using IE 9 and simple img tag of html
    The weblogic server is deployed on linux os

    Hi Kishore,
    Thanks for the reply. Though our issue is that when we execute through IDE (Eclipse Juno) the tag works with IE9. It stops working when deployed on Weblogic 11g server. We can not use object/embed tag as we have business specific functionality which works only for img tag. We have tried the mime mappings in Weblogic but that does not seem to work. Could you kindly let us know if you are aware of such an issue.

  • I can't  preview svg files in bridge cs6 on mac 10.6.8. Help!

    Hi, I want to know why can't I preview svg files in bridge cs6 on mac 10.6.8. It's really frustrating as an increasing number of Illustrator files are saved in this format and I need to check through a gazillion of them. Help!

    Thanks for the promt reply Omke!
    That was the reason why the thumbnail icons weren't showing up in Bridge. Saving to include XMP data somehow brings in the previews in Bridge.
    I don't really need SVG files for print jobs (prefer .eps or .ai), however this appears to be the preferred file format at the picture library where I bought the vector images.
    Darn, I was hoping that was not the solution, as in order to view the images in Bridge, I will first have to open and  re-save them.
    Seems painful but thanks all the same. Would there be a way in Bridge to batch open and re-save files in another format, say from .svg to .ai ?

  • How to specify fonts in text in SVG file?

    I've got an Edge Animate composition that includes a bunch of SVG files which specify (inside the svg files themselves) that a particular font should be used. So for instance, there's text in the SVG that's set to render in Arial. If I view that SVG by itself in the browser, the text is rendered in Arial. But when that SVG is part of an Edge composition, the text in that SVG reverts to some other default font.
    The same problem happens when I try to specify a custom web font inside the SVG. The web font shows up fine when viewing the SVG independently, but when it's part of an Edge composition, it reverts to a default (Some serif font: Times, I think.)
    Let me stress this is NOT about specifying the fonts in Edge itself (by adding the web font to the edge composition, and then styling text from within the Edge Animate interface): this is about text that has been specified in the SVG file in Illustrator. That font specification is ignored when the SVG is brought into Edge.
    This text in the SVG shows as Arial when I'm in the Edge Animate interface, but when I view the whole composition in the browser, that's when it reverts to a different font.
    Any ideas what's going on here?

    Thanks for the reply. Yes, I've given up on fonts embedded in SVGs for now. I tried using SVGs with all text converted to outlines. That solved the type problem. But it of course made all the SVGs very large. I'm now having a problem with the Edge composition not fully loading.
    It throws some javascript errors that indicate that al the libraries haven't loaded. Or, sometimes it just pulls up a blank page and nothing ever shows up, even when there are no javascript errors. The errors are mostly this:
    Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined byod_edgeActions.js:191(anonymous function)byod_edgeActions.js:191
    Uncaught TypeError: Object #<Object> has no method 'okToLaunchComposition' byod_edgePreload.js:27
    edgeCallbackbyod_edgePreload.js:27
    (anonymous function)byod_edgePreload.js:15
    tbyod_edgePreload.js:11
    dbyod_edgePreload.js:10
    I.b.onreadystatechange.b.onloadbyod_edgePreload.js:10
    So I'm thinking the loader is trying to move on to execute code when it hasn't loaded what it needs. This was happening on Firefox and Chrome. So now I've converted some of the larger SVGs to PNGs, which brought their file size down considerably. This eliminated the error on Firefox, but I'm still getting it in Chrome. I think it's just taking too long to load all my animations. It's a pretty big composition: an infographic that's 548 px wide by 3100 px tall. It has 8 animations in it, each as a symbol. There are perhaps 80 individual graphic elements in total that are involved in the animations.
    Even when those graphic files are as small as I can make them, Chrome still errors out before displaying anything.
    If it just turns out that this is too big a composition to be done in Edge Animate, I'm in big trouble, as a client has already paid for this.
    I'm hoping I can find a way to slow down the loader and make it wait until everything is loaded before moving on. But it's tough, as the edgePreload.js file wasn't meant to be tampered with, and is minified. I don't mind having a preload image appear for a while with a "loading..." message. But if it never loads...
    Not sure how to proceed, really.

  • Open SVG files in a Swing App

    Hi, I want to show SVG images in my Java application
    Can I use a jpanel or another jframe to show the image but inside the application? how can I do this? Is there any package or class that I can use to solve this problem?
    (I've heard of something called batik, but how can I use this?)
    if not,

    I haven't used it embedded - only to batch process svg - but apache batik would do that.

  • Issues with converted Inkscape SVG files

    I've been downloading a lot of SVG files, most of which were created with Inkscape, from openclipart.org recently. I've had to open them in Illustrator and save them in .ai format before placing them in an InDesign document as InDesign doesn't accept SVG files as a link.
    My problem is that some of these SVG files that I've converted to .ai don't display properly when I place them into InDesign. I can see the bounding box of the linked files, but nothing inside. I'm pretty sure this has only happened with files that I have edited a little after bringing them into Illustrator. The edits haven't been anything major - just changing colours and adding transparency masks here and there as sometimes some of the SVG gradients and mask/transparency effects are lost when I open them with Illustrator.
    I've tried re-saving the SVG files from openclipart.org and doing a save as in Illustrator to force it to reconstruct the file, but with no luck. Here is an example of one of the troublesome SVGs: http://openclipart.org/people/Gerald_G/Gerald_G_Lemon_Variations_2.svg
    Does anyone know why this is happening?

    It seems like restarting InDesign has fixed the issue. Still, I have one particular file which does this every time I try to place it, even after restarting InDesign.
