Blurry when going to print

I have created a file in indesign and exported it to a pdf.  my pdf file looks crystal clear but when I send it to the place for print, (in a magazine) they send me back a file saying that its all blurry and they arent sure whats wrong either??  I am super new to this and only design on a very low scale for a small real estate business.  any help would be great as since my file that  i see is fine i have no idea what could be wrong.  thanks!!!!

In InDesign go to  WIndow > Links
Check, if all images are connected and up to date, if not you will see a warning symbol.
Select each image and look if the effective resolution is higher than 240ppi. If it is not visible, change the options in that panel in the panel menu.
When you work with InDesign you should take care that you have used the right image types in the correct way:
Did you import the images via FIle > Place…?, don't use copy and paste! Neither use the clipboard!
For vector drawings is best to use Illustrator and save the files as AI oder PDF/X-4
For images you can use PSD, TIFF, PDF and PDP from Photoshop.
If your images have no transparency, you can also use JPG
Because you work for Print, I would recommend not to use PNG.
When you create the PDF:
File > Export…
Select PDF (Print)
Ask the printer which settings, start with one of the X-presets and make your changes as the Printer requires it.

  • InDesign CS5 Crashes when Going to Print...

I have installed CS5 on my iMac and updated to 7.02 and running OSX 10.6.4 everything appears to functioning fine except when I go to print a document it crashes every time. Not only that when I try and Load my saved Printer Presets it crashes then too :-(
I have dumped my preferences for Version 7.0 but still it's happening. I've read quite a few posts about it crashing on startup but none anywhere about crashing on print. I've never had this problem with CS4
    Can anyone help?

Thanks Paolo, I'm pleased you've managed to solve it by reinstalling your printers.   Did you install all four printers in one go or did you do one at a time testing the Print command in ID along the way? I'm wondering if it could be just one printer causing the problem. I too have four printers so maybe I'll do the same as you to get it working. I'm thinking maybe the print command might work if I just disconnect my reprinters from my Mac. Can I ask how you went about reinstalling your printers? Did you just delete them from the printer list and reinstall through there or did you install from CD?  I'm in Paris at the moment but as soon as I'm back I shall give this a go.   David

  • Photos are cropped when going to print

Photos display properly when viewing but when any sort of print routine is initiated the image is seriously cropped, usually left and right sides. Trying to set print parameters, no border, etc., images are still always cropped.

Make sure the aspect ration (length to breadth) of the photo matches the aspect ratio you've chosen for printing.
In other words, if you're printing 5 x 7 make sure that the photo is cropped to that ratio, not 4:3 like many digital cameras produce.

  • Crystal 2008 crashes when going to print

    Hello
I have had Crystal 2008 installed on my PC for some time, working perfectly. Now after two days off it crashes ("crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience etc) whenever I select File/print or file/page setup.
It does not let me get as far as selecting a printer.
I can export in any format.
I also have Crystal installed (for the past year), and have no problems with this.
Any help would be greatfully appreciated

    Hi Kathleen
Are you using Dual Monitor with Crystal Reports?
    - Because Crystal Report dosen't support Dual Monitor.
The mentioned error occurs because of below reasons:
1)If the DEP option is not checked.(How to check that?)
Right Click My Computer ->Properties->Advance Tab->In Performance Pane Click on Settings->Click on Data Execution Prevention(DEP).
2)It is possible that crw32.exe is corrupt so for that you need to manually uninstall the Crystal Report because through Add/Remove programs it doesn't delete all the file.
    Hope it will help You.

First of all, why did you say yes to Nero Back up before researching what it does with files already on the HDD? When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

Hi When going from Develop module to print module a white boarder appears on screen which also prints via my epson r3000 printer. I can get round this by exporting photo to Elements and printing from there but can i get rid of the boarder and print from lightroom?

In the printer driver (accessed through the Page Setup button) set the Advanced tab to borderless. Then in the right hand panel under Layout set all the margins to zero.

Once the photo goes to Print, I can't fix it back to the way it is in iphoto.

It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

  • Print issues when going from develope to print

In LR5 when going from Develope to Print, I loose the picture and the print tab is greyed out.  Never had this problem before, did I do something wrong

Make sure the source remains the same - check the filmstrip.
The only suggestion is to place the batch for editing and printing into a collection or (temporary) quick collection and access the images from there in both modules.

  • Adobe goes Blank when trying to print.

    Hi,
When i click print, the software freezes and goes blank. this is happening repeatedly even after restarting numerous times.
    My specs are:
    Windows 7 Ultimate
and I just downloaded the patch.
    thx to anyone who replies.

Which version of Reader do you have (Help->About) ? Which patch did you apply?

  • When printing a simple single photo, my picture looks fine until I press the print button, then the view of what it is going to print looks like it has zoomed in and cuts off part of my original picture.  This does this with every picture I try to print.

When I press print, it looks like it crops or zooms my original pictures and cuts it off, on the print view. Therefore it only prints a zoomed in partial picture?  Anyone else have this problem?

This usually occurs because you're printing a photo in an Aspect Ratio different from the actual shot. The Aspect Ratio is the shape of the photo, expressed as the length x breadth.
So, if you have - for instance - a 4:3 shot and try print that at  4:6 you will have issues.

  • Low resolution warning when trying to print.

I shoot RAW, then do my editing in Lr. When I export to file for printing in iPhoto I continually get low res warning. I tried exporting DNG< TIFF<PDS and JPG. I set to at least 1000 pixels on long side. What's going on? Help!!! Thanks

I want to go as high as 16x20. I’m not sure the "resize to fit was checked". I’ll check. As far as using iPhoto, I haven’t yet learned to print from Lr. I guess I need to study that. Do you have a quick tip? Thnaks.
Resize to Fit was checked, that's the only way to limit the pixels to 1000.
As a general rule, the bigger you want to print, the more pixels you need.
As another general rule, if you're not going to print from inside of Lightroom, you're going to print outside of Lightroom, then you'd need to export with "Resize to Fit" UNchecked.
As a general rule, when printing you want to use all the pixels you have available and not limit it to 1000, and unchecking "Resize to Fit" is the way to get there. (But really, printing from Lightroom eliminates these issues entirely)

  • When trying to print in iPhoto 9.1.1 error: "There were no themes located"

Hi, first time poster here. When trying to print a photo in iPhoto 9.1.1, I get an error stating "There were no themes located. Until at least one theme has been installed, this feature will be unavailable. This started after upgrading to iPhoto 11. I can print from all other applications so I know that I don't have a printer problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks for the suggestion Larry. This discussion is for iPhoto 7, and says to do a custom install using the system disk that came with my computer. Since I recently installed iPhoto 11 from iLife, should instead reinstall from the iLife disk, rather than the system disk that came with my computer?
    Yes
Also, I just want to make sure that in deleting all the files listed in this discussion, that I won't be deleting my photos. Thanks!
You will not be deleting any photos or data about them - they are in your iPhoto library and you should not be going into it -- ever

  • Printer 3510 not working witn windows 8.1 goes to print to file not printing

IN installed the new driver from the hp website which is supposed to fix the print  problems since  the upgrade to windows 8.1. Now when I  tell the computer to print, it looks like it will print, but it goes to print to file and tries to save the document rather than print it. I have no idea what to do.

    Hello kcgphd,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having some printing issues when connecting the printer to your Windows 8.1 computer.
I have a few suggestions that we can try in the attempt to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
If you have the printer connected to the computer with a USB cable, please remove it from the printer and the computer and leave it disconnected until further notice.
The next step that I suggest we go through is Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Once the uninstall is complete, please restart the computer.
When the computer is back up and running, please click on the following for the HP Deskjet 3510 e-All-in-One Printer Full Feature Software and Drivers.  Please save the download to the Desktop so that it creates its own icon.  This will make the download easy to find.
Double click the new icon and follow the instructions.  The installation will let you know when to connect the USB cable.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thanks for your time.

  • Why does a TIF image look blurry when placed in InDesign file?

    Hi all,
I've placed a logo in my InDesign file that I saved out of Photoshop. It appear blurry when in InDesign and I do have it set to high image quality display so that isn't the issue. It is also set as CMYK and I haven't resized it after saving from Photoshop.
I tried saving a jpg so it would be crisper but then I have a white box behind it when placed in the InDesign file.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I need to send it to print but can't let it go until I'm sure it won't print like a blurry mess.
    Thanks

Sub-pixel sampling. Read up on it. you are placing your images at odd values and it gets resampled. Can be anything from the image inside the frame, the image frame itself, some styling option in ID...
