BM 3.9 extra rules

Running virtual BM 3.8sp5 on a NW6.5sp8 server - ok abends every few days.
So - created a virtual BM 3.9sp2 on a NW6.5sp8 server - with several problems:
1) Trying to go to a https:\\ site gives "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" error. (Not a BM error)
Why can I not go to a https site?
2) iManager is showing 12 rules. Whenever I modify one, click apply changes, then unload/reload BM, the server shows ALCHECK.NLM read 17 rules form NDS. I can add a rule to make it 13, then ALCHECK shows 18. Delete the rule, back to 12 and 17.
This would not bother me, but the rules are not working.
3) When BM is loading, we keep getting a bunch of errors: Get IP addr failed for hostname: http://hulu.com or http://shutterfly,.com
I can ping each one form the server with no problem.
Why am I getting these errors?
Thanks for any help,
Rick

Applied BM 3.9sp2_ir1, restarted server.
I checked the OU where the new BM server was created - found 5 rules. Deleted them. Now showing the correct number of rules in iManager and on the server console screen when BM loads.
Still can NOT https:
Made the first acccess rule: Allow Any HTTP Any - still could not do a https:
Unchecked Enforce access rules - now I CAN assess https:
(The browser IS configured to go thru proxy, port 8080)
Per the above, it would appear that one of the rules is not allowing https:
I've looked at each rule - nothing stands out that would block https:
Any more ideas or should I delete all the rules, then start adding them one at a time?
Thanks,
Rick

1. Look at the rules on the server object and container. You may have
rules at container level
2. Check that browser is configure to go thru proxy
3. Check the "enforce rule" checkbox in iman

Aclcheck can not resolve the name you enter. Either your dns is wrong or
the name you use on the access rules is wrong or nonexistent

  • Maximum number of rules in Numbers? Scrolling for 'show rules'?

I am trying to apply multiple conditional rules to a group of cells but can only get about 13 applied before 'show rules' runs out of space (and can't scroll down to add more). Am I missing something? Any help greatly appreciated - thanks

    Thank-you for the help.
I thought I must be missing something because it seems so easy and obvious for Apple to make these rules srcollable. As Jerry says, they probably did't think to try off their 27" screens!
The only trouble with inserting extra rules is of course that it then makes it a 'faff' to later edit or remove rules that have been taken off the viewable screen.
    Thanks again.

  • How do you add a new rule in inspect element?

In inspect element how do I add a new rule? I come from Chrome and this is a necessity for me.

I don't think that this is different in Firefox than in Google Chrome.
In the right pane, select the Rules tab.
Click the element {} line in "This element" (between the curly brackets) and type the property name.
Type a colon to separate the name and the value.

  • Strategy in Data Warehouse Table Structure

I'm building a relational data warehouse, and there are two approaches that seem almost interchangeable to me, despite being quite different from each other.
The first approach is rather simple.  I have a "User" table with a bunch of foreign keys, and then I have a bunch of other tables containing user attributes.  One table for "department," another for "payroll type,"
another for "primary location," and so on for 20 different user attributes.
The second approach, instead of using 20+ tables, combines this down into far fewer.  I would have an "Attribute Type" table and "Attribute" table.  These two, in conjunction with a bridge table, could accommodate as many
attributes as necessary within three tables.  If the business wants to track a new "user-related" attribute, I don't need any new tables.  I would simply add the new attribute into the "Attribute Type" table as, say, "attribute
21," and begin tracking it.  All the work could be done without ever adding new tables or columns.
Both approaches seem to maintain (at least) 3NF.  Is one approach better in certain circumstances, and the other approach more appropriate at other times?  Any insight is appreciated!
    BrainE

    Hi Brian,
The second approach with three tables is not really good here. Query Optimizer in SQL Server has a few enhancements for Star/Snowflake schemas in DW environment and 3-table schema would not be able to benefit from them. It would be also harder to maintain,
load data and query. Finally, your attributes could have different data types, which you need to store.
I would suggest to go with first solution (multiple dimensions table) and follow a few extra rules:
    Avoid nullable attributes
Choose attribute data types as narrow as possible
Avoid string attributes. If needed create separate dimension tables for them
    Use columnstore indexes and
Upgrade to SQL Server 2014 if it is all possible - there are multiple enhancementsin batch-mode processing there
    Thank you!

  • Video Problems - Pixelization

Ok here are my system specs:
    -Hardware-
    Motherboard: MSI 875P NEO-FISR 2.0
    RAM:  Kingston KVR400X64C3AK2/2G 2GB Kit 400MHz DDR PC3200 DIMM 3-3-3
    Standard 128M X 64 Non-ECC 400MHz 184-pin Unbuffered DIMM (SDRAM-DDR, 2.6V, CL3, Gold)
    CPU: Intel Pentium4 Prescott 3.20E
AGP: BFG Geforce 6800 GT OC 256MB
    PSU: Raidmax PM-S320U 320W
    -Software-
    Bios Version: 3.5
    Chipset Intel INF Drivers: 6.0.1.1002
    Nvidia Drivers: 56.72, 61.76, 61.77
Basically I put this machine together and install Windows XP with SP2.  The machine seems to run fine WITHOUT the Nvidia drivers.  For example I can run Windows Media Player and use a visualization to the music.  The visualization will slow down if I stretch out the window but there is no pixelization problems.  It will not let me run the Windows Media Player in Full Screen mode however due to not having the drivers.
Now I have installed varoius Nvidia drivers hoping that maybe it was just the driver.  The 56.72 does not even find my card and the computer continues to ask for the VGA card drivers.  If I install either of the 61.XX Nvidia drivers it recognizes my Card as the proper card.  Running windows media player again will work however there are pixels going bad all over the screen!  I can not even run any type of games.  I used to run Farcry with this BFG Card on my Athlon 1700+.  Now with this new MB I can't even get past the UBISOFT Logo at the beginning of the game!
I am also a bit dissapointed that there are less controls for the AGP Card in the AMI Bios that I used to have in my old bios.  When I goto the BFG Site and look for recommended Bios Settings, I see about 50 bios settings that they recommend I adjust, however in my AMI Bios I only see Aperature Size and AGP/PCI Clock.
Is there some BIOS setting that I am totally missing?  Why would the card only cause pixelization after installation of the Nvidia drivers?  I even tried re-install windows and  that seemed to help a little bit, but there really don't appear to be any issues until the nvidia drivers are installed.  I've tried different monitor as well and I still get pixelizations.  I can goto Add/Remove Programs and unstill my Nvidia drivers and the pixelization goes away just like that!  The Card seems to work fine without the Forceware Drivers but doesn't have the capability to run anything serious.  The second you add the Forceware Drivers problems begin...
I have called BFG Tech support and all they have said is to make sure I have the latest drivers...as far as I know I have the latest drivers in existance.  Can anybody point me in the right direction as to why my video card doesn't seem to want to work with this motherboard??

The advice you were given is for you.
I don't really understand what you are trying to say here, I have not demonstrated any desire to 'underpower' my system.  The reason I said 200 watts was just for my CPU and Video Card, after you add the rest of the stuff on its well over 320 watts.
I never had any idea that the Prescott and 6800 GPU were so power hungry.

That's once again the Power supply calculator only calculates the average power consumption of what your system is drawing at average load which could sometimes be misleading.
Still a lot better than just closing your eyes and guessing.
    Quote
No manufacturers will tell anyone what is the minimum specs of the power required as it will not be accurate either since not everyone is using the same specs for D.I.Y. systems and if they were to do so, I think that you may end up with a 550watts PSU today
This seems VERY wrong to me.  You are basically trying to say that these manufacturesr can make anything they want and then not tell anybody what kind of power draw is to be expected from using their stuff?  Its like giving someone something and telling them 'Hey we don't know what this thing does but go ahead and use it, Good Luck!'
It also seems odd that you are all saying that nobody is going to tell you what kind of power supply is needed, yet some of you seem to think I should have been able to find out this information easily on the net?  That is quite contradictory.
    Hi,
I was not happy when, I first posted here and they told me PSU, but it's a 550W lots of POWER.........How wrong I was.......
They cannot state, kind of PSU Power you need, as they do not know where the product will end up. You can ask max power from the product and work from there............
There are millions of combinations a system could use........
Oh and to add to this........ do not forget the 20% extra rule of thumb for caculating PSU needed

  • Customizing rulset of flexPMD 1.2

    Hi,
I am totally new to FlexPMD and iam happy that i got succeeded in executing FlexPMD commandline tool version 1.2 for my flex project and take care of the warnings.
I just wanted to customize or add some extra rules in addition to the existing ruleset available with version 1.2
I read the instructions given in http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexpmd/Get+Source+Code to download the source code and followed as per mentioned.
I got the entire source code (including branch, trunk,..etc)..As I mentioned before since i wanted to customize the rule available with version 1.2, i thought  i need to edit the project flex-pmd-ruleset of 1.2 which is found inside "trunk" folder.
Before doing that, Iam supposed to make the environment ready as mentioned in http://opensource.adobe.com/wiki/display/flexpmd/Developer+Documentation.
while i tried to execute the mvn package command into flex-pmd-parent folder, i did not have internet access to my machine..
is the command internally access any resource from net in order to build the project?
i got the following error msg after a long list of warnings......

i also tried opening the project files in eclipse galileo without executing mvn package command ...i noticed many errors in import statements where the actual package referred does not even exist in the code...pls refer the attached image..is the source code downloaded is unstable...
where am i going wrong...pls help me with a detailed procedure to set the environment so that i can customize the ruleset...

The documentation has not been updated since early days of planning, I am not even sure if it is still valid as in my experience it is hardly ever used.
If you are version 11.1.2 then I would assume it would be the file in the planning product installation directory.
    Cheers

    Hey there,
ever since I installed KDE (plasma) on my notebook it has been really slow to start and doesn't show a progress bar, just fades in after 30 seconds or thereabout.

  • How do I get a separate hover on my submenus in dreamweaver

I am using dreamweaver cs3 and spry 1.4
I am having problems getting my drop down submenus to hover differently to the normal tabs at the top. Is this possible to do as I only seem to be able to get one or the other. I have attached a couple screenshots to try to explain what I mean . I want my sub menu hover to be a straightforward blue box and the top as shown in screenshot "menubartophover.jpg"  Please note: i am pretty much a beginner in this=)
    Thanks everyone

    Hi Faye,
Add an extra rule to your page as follows:
    ul.MenuBarHorizontal li ul li a:hover {
        background: blue;
I have made the background colour blue, but please change this to what you want.
    Hopefully this will help.

Well not sure if you meant to, but the loaded rules are technically identical to your rules file. You forgot to change:
    :INPUT ACCEPT [0:0]
    to
    :INPUT DROP [0:0]
Could just be that netfilter is being smart and leaves out "extra" rules.

  • Troubleshoot JAXB "chameleon schema" Errors

I am trying to use xjc from JAXB 2.1 to generate Java code for the HL7 CDA R2 format. Unfortunately, there appears to be errors in XML Schema files and so xjc fails with this exception.
The XML Schema files can be downloaded from http://xreg2.nist.gov/cda-validation/downloads/archives/HITSP_C37_TestPackage_03Jan_2008.zip.There are total 7 Schema files, and their names are: LabCDA.xsd, LabPOCD_MT000040.xsd, TF_Vol3_Lab.xsd, datatypes.xsd, datatypes-base.xsd, NarrativeBlock.xsd and voc.xsd. The relationship of the Schema files are complex: LabCDA.xsd is the top level Schema and includes LabPOCD_MT000040.xsd; LabPOCD_MT000040.xsd incluedes datatypes.xsd, NarrativeBlock.xsd and voc.xsd and imports TF_Vol3_Lab.xsd; TF_Vol3_Lab.xsd incluedes datatypes.xsd; datatypes.xsd incluedes datatypes-base.xsd; datatypes-base.xsd includes voc.xsd; voc.xsd includes datatypes.xsd.

JAXB has extra rules that it uses to validate the schema. I believe this is for simplicity in the code generation side. For example, you can't have a maxOccurs="unbounded" element in an "all" complex element, it must be in a "sequence".
In this case (and hopefully all others) fixing the schema so that JAXB will accept it is not going to hurt anything. A length requirement is both a maxLength and a minLength.
There are some rules I don't appreciate that JAXB tacks on. For example, if you import another schema into your binding schema, and don't use every type specified in the imported schema, it will balk. Why? I can't think of a good reason. It really makes it a pain in the ass to create reusable custom XML types. I have to have a different schema for every type.

  • Fact and dimension table partition

My team is implementing new data-warehouse. I would like to know that when  should we plan to do partition of fact and dimension table, before data comes in or after?

    Hi,
It is recommended to partition Fact table (Where we will have huge data). Automate the partition so that each day it will create a new partition to hold latest data (Split the previous partition into 2). Best practice is to create partition on transaction
timestamps so load the incremental data into a empty table called (Table_IN) and then Switch that data into main table (Table). Make sure your tables (Table and Table_IN) should be on one file group.
Refer below content for detailed info
Designing and Administrating Partitions in SQL Server 2012
A popular method of better managing large and active tables and indexes is the use of partitioning. Partitioning is a feature for segregating I/O workload within
SQL Server database so that I/O can be better balanced against available I/O subsystems while providing better user response time, lower I/O latency, and faster backups and recovery. By partitioning tables and indexes across multiple filegroups, data retrieval
and management is much quicker because only subsets of the data are used, meanwhile ensuring that the integrity of the database as a whole remains intact.
    Tip
Partitioning is typically used for administrative or certain I/O performance scenarios. However, partitioning can also speed up some queries by enabling
lock escalation to a single partition, rather than to an entire table. You must allow lock escalation to move up to the partition level by setting it with either the Lock Escalation option of Database Options page in SSMS or by using the LOCK_ESCALATION option
    of the ALTER TABLE statement.
After a table or index is partitioned, data is stored horizontally across multiple filegroups, so groups of data are mapped to individual partitions. Typical
scenarios for partitioning include large tables that become very difficult to manage, tables that are suffering performance degradation because of excessive I/O or blocking locks, table-centric maintenance processes that exceed the available time for maintenance,
and moving historical data from the active portion of a table to a partition with less activity.
Partitioning tables and indexes warrants a bit of planning before putting them into production. The usual approach to partitioning a table or index follows these
    steps:
    1. Create
the filegroup(s) and file(s) used to hold the partitions defined by the partitioning scheme.
    2. Create
a partition function to map the rows of the table or index to specific partitions based on the values in a specified column. A very common partitioning function is based on the creation date of the record.
    3. Create
a partitioning scheme to map the partitions of the partitioned table to the specified filegroup(s) and, thereby, to specific locations on the Windows file system.
    4. Create
the table or index (or ALTER an existing table or index) by specifying the partition scheme as the storage location for the partitioned object.
Although Transact-SQL commands are available to perform every step described earlier, the Create Partition Wizard makes the entire process quick and easy through
an intuitive point-and-click interface. The next section provides an overview of using the Create Partition Wizard in SQL Server 2012, and an example later in this section shows the Transact-SQL commands.
Leveraging the Create Partition Wizard to Create Table and Index Partitions
The Create Partition Wizard can be used to divide data in large tables across multiple filegroups to increase performance and can be invoked by right-clicking
any table or index, selecting Storage, and then selecting Create Partition. The first step is to identify which columns to partition by reviewing all the columns available in the Available Partitioning Columns section located on the Select a Partitioning Column
dialog box, as displayed in Figure 3.13. This screen also includes additional options such as the following:
Figure 3.13. Selecting a partitioning column.
The next screen is called Select a Partition Function. This page is used for specifying the partition function where the data will be partitioned. The options
include using an existing partition or creating a new partition. The subsequent page is called New Partition Scheme. Here a DBA will conduct a mapping of the rows selected of tables being partitioned to a desired filegroup. Either a new partition scheme should
be used or a new one needs to be created. The final screen is used for doing the actual mapping. On the Map Partitions page, specify the partitions to be used for each partition and then enter a range for the values of the partitions. The
ranges and settings on the grid include the following:
    Note
By opening the Set Boundary Values dialog box, a DBA can set boundary values based on dates (for example, partition everything in a column after a specific
date). The data types are based on dates.
Designing table and index partitions is a DBA task that typically requires a joint effort with the database development team. The DBA must have a strong understanding
of the database, tables, and columns to make the correct choices for partitioning. For more information on partitioning, review Books Online.
Enhancements to Partitioning in SQL Server 2012
SQL Server 2012 now supports as many as 15,000 partitions. When using more than 1,000 partitions, Microsoft recommends that the instance of SQL Server have at
least 16Gb of available memory. This recommendation particularly applies to partitioned indexes, especially those that are not aligned with the base table or with the clustered index of the table. Other Data Manipulation Language statements (DML) and Data
Definition Language statements (DDL) may also run short of memory when processing on a large number of partitions.
Certain DBCC commands may take longer to execute when processing a large number of partitions. On the other hand, a few DBCC commands can be scoped to the partition
level and, if so, can be used to perform their function on a subset of data in the partitioned table.
Queries may also benefit from a new query engine enhancement called partition elimination. SQL Server uses partition enhancement automatically if it is available.
Here’s how it works. Assume a table has four partitions, with all the data for customers whose names begin with R, S, or T in the third partition. If a query’s WHERE clause
filters on customer name looking for ‘System%’, the query engine knows that it needs only to partition three to answer
the request. Thus, it might greatly reduce I/O for that query. On the other hand, some queries might take longer if there are more than 1,000 partitions and the query is not able to perform partition elimination.
Finally, SQL Server 2012 introduces some changes and improvements to the algorithms used to calculate partitioned index statistics. Primarily, SQL Server 2012
samples rows in a partitioned index when it is created or rebuilt, rather than scanning all available rows. This may sometimes result in somewhat different query behavior compared to the same queries running on SQL Server 2012.
    Administrating Data Using Partition Switching
Partitioning is useful to access and manage a subset of data while losing none of the integrity of the entire data set. There is one limitation, though. When
a partition is created on an existing table, new data is added to a specific partition or to the default partition if none is specified. That means the default partition might grow unwieldy if it is left unmanaged. (This concept is similar to how a clustered
index needs to be rebuilt from time to time to reestablish its fill factor setting.)
Switching partitions is a fast operation because no physical movement of data takes place. Instead, only the metadata pointers to the physical data are altered.
You can alter partitions using SQL Server Management Studio or with the ALTER TABLE...SWITCH
Transact-SQL statement. Both options enable you to ensure partitions are
well maintained. For example, you can transfer subsets of data between partitions, move tables between partitions, or combine partitions together. Because the ALTER TABLE...SWITCH statement
does not actually move the data, a few prerequisites must be in place:
    • Partitions must use the same column when switching between two partitions.
    • The source and target table must exist prior to the switch and must be on the same filegroup, along with their corresponding indexes,
index partitions, and indexed view partitions.
    • The target partition must exist prior to the switch, and it must be empty, whether adding a table to an existing partitioned table
or moving a partition from one table to another. The same holds true when moving a partitioned table to a nonpartitioned table structure.
    • The source and target tables must have the same columns in identical order with the same names, data types, and data type attributes
(length, precision, scale, and nullability). Computed columns must have identical syntax, as well as primary key constraints. The tables must also have the same settings for ANSI_NULLS and QUOTED_IDENTIFIER properties.
Clustered and nonclustered indexes must be identical. ROWGUID properties
and XML schemas must match. Finally, settings for in-row data storage must also be the same.
    • The source and target tables must have matching nullability on the partitioning column. Although both NULL and NOT
    NULL are supported, NOT
    NULL is strongly recommended.
    Likewise, the ALTER TABLE...SWITCH statement
will not work under certain circumstances:
    • Full-text indexes, XML indexes, and old-fashioned SQL Server rules are not allowed (though CHECK constraints
    are allowed).
    • Tables in a merge replication scheme are not allowed. Tables in a transactional replication scheme are allowed with special caveats.
Triggers are allowed on tables but must not fire during the switch.
    • Indexes on the source and target table must reside on the same partition as the tables themselves.
    • Indexed views make partition switching difficult and have a lot of extra rules about how and when they can be switched. Refer to
the SQL Server Books Online if you want to perform partition switching on tables containing indexed views.
    • Referential integrity can impact the use of partition switching. First, foreign keys on other tables cannot reference the source
table. If the source table holds the primary key, it cannot have a primary or foreign key relationship with the target table. If the target table holds the foreign key, it cannot have a primary or foreign key relationship with the source table.
In summary, simple tables can easily accommodate partition switching. The more complexity a source or target table exhibits, the more likely that careful planning
and extra work will be required to even make partition switching possible, let alone efficient.
Here’s an example where we create a partitioned table using a previously created partition scheme, called Date_Range_PartScheme1.
We then create a new, nonpartitioned table identical to the partitioned table residing on the same filegroup. We finish up switching the data from the partitioned table into the nonpartitioned table:
    CREATE TABLE TransactionHistory_Partn1 (Xn_Hst_ID int, Xn_Type char(10)) ON Date_Range_PartScheme1 (Xn_Hst_ID) ; GO CREATE TABLE TransactionHistory_No_Partn (Xn_Hst_ID int, Xn_Type
    char(10)) ON main_filegroup ; GO ALTER TABLE TransactionHistory_Partn1 SWITCH partition1 TO TransactionHistory_No_Partn; GO
The next section shows how to use a more sophisticated, but very popular, approach to partition switching called a sliding
    window partition.
Example and Best Practices for Managing Sliding Window Partitions
Assume that our AdventureWorks business is booming. The sales staff, and by extension the AdventureWorks2012 database, is very busy. We noticed over time that
the TransactionHistory table is very active as sales transactions are first entered and are still very active over their first month in the database. But the older the transactions are, the less activity they see. Consequently, we’d like to automatically group
transactions into four partitions per year, basically containing one quarter of the year’s data each, in a rolling partitioning. Any transaction older than one year will be purged or archived.
The answer to a scenario like the preceding one is called a sliding window partition because
we are constantly loading new data in and sliding old data over, eventually to be purged or archived. Before you begin, you must choose either a LEFT partition function window or a RIGHT partition function window:
    1. How
data is handled varies according to the choice of LEFT or RIGHT partition function window:
    • With a LEFT strategy, partition1 holds the oldest data (Q4 data), partition2 holds data that is 6- to 9-months old (Q3), partition3
holds data that is 3- to 6-months old (Q2), and partition4 holds recent data less than 3-months old.
    • With a RIGHT strategy, partition4 holds the holds data (Q4), partition3 holds Q3 data, partition2 holds Q2 data, and partition1
    holds recent data.
    • Following the best practice, make sure there are empty partitions on both the leading edge (partition0) and trailing edge (partition5)
    of the partition.
    • RIGHT range functions usually make more sense to most people because it is natural for most people to to start ranges at their lowest
value and work upward from there.
    2. Assuming
that a RIGHT partition function windows is used, we first use the SPLIT subclause of the ALTER PARTITION FUNCTIONstatement
to split empty partition5 into two empty partitions, 5 and 6.
    3. We
    use the SWITCH subclause
    of ALTER TABLE to
switch out partition4 to a staging table for archiving or simply to drop and purge the data. Partition4 is now empty.
    4. We
    can then use MERGE to
combine the empty partitions 4 and 5, so that we’re back to the same number of partitions as when we started. This way, partition3 becomes the new partition4, partition2 becomes the new partition3, and partition1 becomes the new partition2.
    5. We
    can use SWITCH to
push the new quarter’s data into the spot of partition1.
    Tip
    Use the $PARTITION system
function to determine where a partition function places values within a range of partitions.
Some best practices to consider for using a slide window partition include the following:
    • Load newest data into a heap, and then add indexes after the load is finished. Delete oldest data or, when working with very large
data sets, drop the partition with the oldest data.
    • Keep an empty staging partition at the leftmost and rightmost ends of the partition range to ensure that the partitions split when
loading in new data, and merge, after unloading old data, do not cause data movement.
    • Do not split or merge a partition already populated with data because this can cause severe locking and explosive log growth.
    • Create the load staging table in the same filegroup as the partition you are loading.
    • Create the unload staging table in the same filegroup as the partition you are deleting.
    • Don’t load a partition until its range boundary is met. For example, don’t create and load a partition meant to hold data that is
one to two months older before the current data has aged one month. Instead, continue to allow the latest partition to accumulate data until the data is ready for a new, full partition.
    • Unload one partition at a time.
    • The ALTER TABLE...SWITCH statement
issues a schema lock on the entire table. Keep this in mind if regular transactional activity is still going on while a table is being partitioned.

  • BRFplus + BPM + ABAP Webdynpro Architecture

    Hi Gurus,
We are setting up Data Governance model in our company. As a part of this, we are currently evaluating various options. We are also  considering BRF plus solution. Some of our high level requirements are as follows
    1.     Break SAP transactions for Material Master and regroup the fields according the new business processes in different screens in web front end (possibly ABAP WebDynpro)
    2.     Set up a workflow solution for new business processes (possibly BPM or Business Workflow)
    3.     Integrate Business rules and validations, data checks and so on using BRF plus in to the workflow.
What that means is that whenever users make changes to the Material master Data in web front end, then a workflow is triggered and rules are applied to the data before the data is changed/created.
    My questions are as follows
    1.     Do we really need all these 3 components namely ABAP Webdynpro, BPM or Business Workflow and BRFPlus to achieve what we want to achieve? Or we can achieve this without having one of the components mentioned above?
    2.     If yes or no, how the architecture should look like?
    3.     How do we integrate these techonologies (which features of what component)
    4.     Any examples you can share?
    Shai

I don't see the need of web dynpro or BPM if you only want extra data validations.
You can integrate extra rules into your regular system as is using BRFplus for extra validations.

  • Smart playlist long list of criteria extends off screen - help!

I subscribe to a lot of podcasts and use several smart playlists to group and organize them. When creating criteria for the smart playlist, sometimes the list extends off the bottom of the screen, and unlike the usual Mac interface, no scroll bar appears on the window. This isn't really a problem (I'm able to keep adding to the playlist using the + button near the top of the window) but makes going back and editing or removing items that can't be seen on screen impossible.
Can anyone suggest a solution to "scroll up" on these long lists of smart playlist criteria that disappear off screen?
I thought it might help make sense of my ramblings if I included a link to a screenshot showing what I'm asking about:

I have found the only solution right now is to create sub-smart playlists and then group those in the main playlist.
For example, say for music you have...
    Any of the following:
    Band is Devo
    Band is B-52s
    . [more rules]
    Band is ELO
    Band is Heart
    . [more rules]
    Band is Bad Religion
    Band is NoFX
    . [more rules]
that you can take groups of them and put them into their own Smart Playlists like New Wave, Classic Rock, and Punk then your HUGE playlist you can remove those bands and put in to include the New Wave, Classic Rock, and Punk playlists, then add what ever extra rules you have.

  • JSF Portlet keeps last navigated page

I have a small JSF application where there is a simple navigation from first displayed JSP pageA to JSP pageB:
(of course with a managed bean
    <navigation-rule>
    <from-view-id>/portlets/pageA.jsp</from-view-id>
    <navigation-case>
    <from-outcome>success</from-outcome>
    <to-view-id>/portlets/pageB.jsp</to-view-id>
    </navigation-case>
    </navigation-rule>
As a standalone Web app the first pageA is always redisplayed with the main app url.
However configured as a JSF portlet, after navigating to pageB, the portlet will always redisplay pageB!
What configuration am i missing to reset to first pageA when redisplay main portal page?
    thanks.

on a second thought the behavior i see might be valid due to the fact that i specify in my navigation rule a <from-view-id>, which as soon as i'm on pageB no longer applies, meaning there is no rule from pageB for same outcome, so pageB is still displayed.
I added an extra rule for pageB and a "Back" button on pageB and now i can go back to initial page.
for me it is a bit unexpected, due to this view "statefulness", but does make sense, need to better master JSF ...

  • CSA 5.1 Best Practices

When I have an event logged that I need to allow is it best practice to clone only the offending rule module and change the rules in that module as needed or should I also clone the policy and then clone the rules?
This is new rollout just so you know.
Do you create new groups to reflect job duties (Accounting, HR, ETC) and then manually add policies?
    Thanks
    Kevin

By default, CSA chooses to create exceptions to rule modules, not change the rules. That keeps your original rules intact. I pretty much follow this unless I have a good reason not to. I don't clone anything unless I'm going to make major changes to the orignal rules or I'm doing some testing.
Modifying the original rule does have the advantage of not forcing the host to process extra rules but can backfire if the exception is too broad.
All our Desktop and laptop PCs belong to one group so I only have to manage a few policies.
I do create additional groups for specific machine roles and add some PCs to that group as well. For example, we have a group that's allowed to run web process on a PC so those in that group can and no one else is allowed.
