Bmon -o format, command not found, help!

Hi,
I'm looking for something as simple as it can be, with one-line conky-like output like
dl: 150kpbs ul: 60kbps
- that's all I need.
EDIT:
I'm trying to achieve something with bmon, however I keep getting errors
bmon -p wlan0 -o format:fmt="$(item:name)\n"
zsh: command not found: item:name
Last edited by vi3dr0 (2009-12-04 18:53:58)

The tag $(item:name) is caught by zsh, it tries to interpret it as a command substitution and complains about not having such a command (of course). You should protect it from zsh with simple quotes to let it interpret by bmon:
bmon -p wlan0 -o 'format:fmt=$(item:name)\n'
Actually for download and upload rates you have to write 'attr:rxrate:bytes' and 'attr:txrate:bytes' instead of 'item:name', respectively.
In this case you always get bps, so if you would like it to be in kbps, you should catch the output and divide it by 1024. (Possibly some scripting is needed.)

    Hi!
    After 6 hours of experimenting, disconnecting devices, formatting my hard drive (joy!) and getting nowhere, I found the problem: apparently, Leopard has trouble dealing with some characters in the volume name (in my case it was '). Rename the volume to something simple, short and with no weird characters and the Leopard will install.
    And, to Apple: I'm very disappointed with the quality of the Leopard install. If a character is valid in OS X, the setup should support it!

    It appears that you may not have a properly installed OS X system.
    You must be connected to the Internet to reinstall OS X.
    In the menu bar, choose Apple menu > Restart. Once your Mac restarts (and the gray screen appears), hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys.
    Select “Disk Utility,” and then click Continue.
    Select your startup disk from the list on the left, and then Repair Disk.
    After disk is repaired, select Reinstall OS X, then click Continue.
    Follow the onscreen instructions. In the pane where you select a disk, select your current OS X disk

  • [SOLVED] command not found - can anyone help a newbie out with this

    Hi everyone,
    Sorry to be asking such basic information, but I hope you can help...
    I just installed Arch...
    I am logged in as root and I get this error:
    # hwd
    -bash: hwd: command not found
    For future reference, how should I go about finding out what package(s) I need to install in order to be able to use a particular command?  (in this case, the hwd command)
    Also, is there some configuration I may need to perform in order to make a particular command work (in this case hwd) ??
    Thank you!

    Thanks!
    Probably the wiki article for Xorg should be updated as it refers the user to use hwd.  I'll see if I can manage to edit it...  I've never edited a wiki before.  I'm learning all sorts of new stuff today :-)

  • Help! osascript: command not found

    In terminal if I type in "osascript" I get:
    -bash: osascript: command not found
    I can't run macros in Textmate. What's the problem, how can I fix it?

    Your argument is sound and usually I would agree with it 100%. However all the best rules have exceptions and sometimes a judgement call is required. An example…
    /usr/sbin/periodic contains a minor glitch which causes a "cp error…" to appear every morning in the system.log. Even though it is actually an informative msg rather than an error a long time ago I got fed up with seeing it and so I corrected the minor coding error in periodic. A stupid thing to do? Not in my opinion, but it is a judgement call.
    A related minor coding error causes periodic weekly to wrongly set permissions on /private/var/log/secure.log – you will be well aware of the number of posts in various forums about "I keep seeing the same error…" – nowhere near as many as with the now defunct "We are using…", but enough to bother many 'newbies'.
    By correcting these two (very minor) errors I am greeted every morning by an empty system.log and my permissions repairs invariably report nothing corrected. Should I have made those alterations? Judgement time again – I made my decisions well aware of what I was doing, but I would, totally hypocritically, join you in advising people NOT to mess with system items! <grin>

  • -bash: man: command not found

    Hi All,
    The problem I faced is that after a fresh installation of Oralce Linux 6 with the Minimal Installation option selected I cant use the MAN command.
    [root@oelinux /]# which man
    /usr/bin/which: no man in (/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/root/bin)
    [root@oelinux /]# man man
    -bash: man: command not found
    [root@oelinux /]# I think I need install some missing packages. Does anybody know how to solve this. Google couldn't manage to help.

    Also managed to create a repo file. Format is some like this
    [DVD]
    enabled = 1
    name = From Server on dvd
    baseurl = file:///media/cdrom0/Server
    gpgcheck = 0
    where [DVD] matches the name of the repo file: DVD.repo (The file must be placed in the /etc/yum.repos.d)
    enable -- says that yum should use the repository
    name -- is the name of the repository as you would see it in the graphical version of the yum
    baseurl is location of dvd after you have mounted it.
    After all that I can check with
    [root@oelinux yum.repos.d]# yum list available | wc -l
    This system is not registered with ULN.
    ULN support will be disabled.
    2587
    [root@oelinux yum.repos.d]# that now i have available packages.

  • Nvidia command not found?

    Ok, so I'm unsure this belongs here but it seemed like the most approprite section and I'm sorry if it's not.
    So I recently reformated my pc to arch and installed the nouveau driver, then I decided I wanted play dota 2 and decided to uninstall nouveau and install nvidia drivers, until now it's all fine and dandy but the problem is I'm trying to run nvidia-xconfig and I get the following error message :
    WARNING: Unable to locate/open X configuration file.
    sh: pkg-config: command not found
    ERROR: Unable to write to directory '/etc/X11'.
    and so I'm baffeled, I solved some problems that arose during the format process and post installation of arch using the wiki but I don't know where to go from here about this one.
    Thanks for any and all help.

    ueah no space before the dash, I installed pkg-config but now I get this warrning:
    Unable to locate/open X configuration file.
    Package xorg-server was not found in the pkg-config search path.
    Perhaps you should add the directory containing `xorg-server.pc'
    to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
    No package 'xorg-server' found
    New X configuration file written to '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'
    so at least I got the config file, at least trying to solve this problem is turning out to be a bit of a learning experience
    edit: still steam is giving me an error about my system not using direct rendering, I tried adding myself to the video group, checking other solutions now
    edit 2: ok managed to get that so all that is left is getting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH thing sorted out, any ideas?

  • Command not found on running binary files.

    I have a very strange problem with my new arch installation, which I never faced on other linux installations/distros.
    I'm trying to execute binary files from android-sdk, which I have them from other distros and always worked, and I get always "command not found" message. For e.g I tried to run adb(5 different files from different places), from terminal and from the folder in which is each and all times I get "command not found" message.
    Some other work though, as eclipse binary. All files I've tried worked fine, and also work fine if I run them from Ubuntu installation.
    I had this problem and for some newly isntalled packages too, as packagkit, and rutorrent. Packagekit worked after a reboot, but rutorrent gives same message.
    Any help?

    Hi guyz,
    Im trying to install 12i on external hard drive (windows xp), I followed the steps from http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=447193&tstart=60&start=0
    The installation fails in

    'which' command is available.

    'gnumake' is available.
    'cl' is not available.

    There are no spaces in MKS tool kit and Visualstudio2005 install dir but still the installation fails.
    I tried many combinations installing MKS and VS on c:, installing MKS and VS on d:, installing VC++ express edition but nothing worked. Also i have set the enviromental variable PATH each time i made a change. Still i get the same issue.
    Im doing this for a week now, had no luck.
    I had a successful installation of 11.5.10 from e delivery but it didn't had the financials modules needed. There is an update for 11.5.10 on edelivery but i was not sure if they had the financials modules in it, so i decided to go for 12i
    Can anybody help me with 12i installation or provide me steps how to apply the updates on 11.5.10 if updates have financials in it.
    I appreciate any help.

    Oracle E-Business Suite R12 Installation on Windows 2003
    Re: Oracle E-Business Suite R12 Installation on Windows 2003
    If you have a VC98, you are using Visual Studio 6. You need to be using Visual Studio 8, and set the Visual Studio directory in Rapidwiz to d:\Tools\MSVS\VC.
    The Vision installation of Oracle Applications has had Oracle Financials implemented for the fictitious company Vision Corporation from the beginning, 10.7 I believe, but definitely every 11i release has financials plus every other product licensed. Not all the newest products are fully implemented, but they are licensed.

  • ORACLE_HOME disappeared, SQLPLUS - bash: sqlplus: command not found

    OK, I am a newbie but am having real difficulty with my 10G DB which I had set up on Unix Solaris box but someone was messing around with it and now I can't see ORACLE_HOME, ORACLE_BASE and ORACLE_SID, they all return blank when I try to "echo" each.

    So how do I set them back up, I cannot get SQLPLUS / AS SYSDBA.........bash: sqlplus: command not found
    I have tried to reset and export but still doesn't work.
    I got the ORACLE_BASE as:

    but can't seem to set the three variables to run SQLPLUS, any ideas what I am doing wrong?
    Tried messing around to reset but nothing works, this is the present state of affairs:

    And the response is;
    -bash: com.apple.Finder: command not found
    When I open any Terminal window I get this message, I don't know if this is relevant;
    Last login: Wed Nov 13 08:27:40 on ttys001
    I have found some similar replies on the forum but they do not seem to work in my case. I'm new to Terminal so I would really appreciate the help to find the cause and to resolve my problem.
    Thanks a lot!

    Thank you so much. This is the reply that I got;
    Mys-MacBook-Pro:~ storedisk$ ls -a .Trash
    .                                        Cherry Blossoms
    ..                                        FLiCKS
    .DS_Store                              Nicholas Nickleby (1977)
    13 Tzameti                              Robin Hood (2010)
    Catch-22 [1970]                              We Live in Public 2009
    Mys-MacBook-Pro:~ storedisk$ mv .Trash/FLiCKS .
    Mys-MacBook-Pro:~ storedisk$
    Mys-MacBook-Pro:~ storedisk$ mv .Trash/FLiCKS
    usage: mv [-f | -i | -n] [-v] source target
           mv [-f | -i | -n] [-v] source ... directory
    It is the FLiCKS folder that I am trying to retreive. Does this mean that I can retreive it? And if so, when I use the command mv .Trash/filename, where should it appear? Sorry for not fully understanding the instructions.
    I also tend to empty the trash cumpulsively, which is how this happened in the first place. Trying to empty the files already in the trash but accidentally having had this folder selected I emptied that and kept the files that I didn't want.
    The trash folder still has the size as if the folder FLiCKS is still in there though, if that makes any difference?
    Thank you for all of your help.

  • Executing CR HOST script, encountering command not found

    Hi All,
    I new to writing Host scripts, especially for use within the Applications.
    I need to go out to an FTP site and grab a file.
    The FTP portion of the script works fine.
    The problem I'm encountering is with the execution of regular commands like 'cd' or 'mv'.
    The error comes back, ...line xx: cd: command not found
    When I have an actual directory path with the cd command - I always get, No such file or directory...
    (I have verified the directory paths I'm attempting to change to exist and available.)
    The FTP portion executes, but the received file goes into some obscure server directory. Can't even perform a move of the file.
    The echo command works fine.
    I have created just a dummy script to do a cd /u32/... command and still the same Error.
    Any suggestions will be very helpful.
    Thanks,
    Bradley

    Here is a main code script....
    #$HEADER: XX_BANK_STMTS_IMPORT
    # PROGRAM NAME: XX_BANK_STMTS_IMPORT
    # PURPOSE:
    # Load XXXX Bank Statements
    # XX Bank Statements Import Concurrent Program
    # This script requires to run as Concurrent Request
    P_LOGIN="$1"
    P_USER_ID="$3"
    P_REQUEST_ID="$4"
    REMOTE_USER=ftpuser
    REMOTE_PASSWD=ftpuser
    FTP_DIR=u32/oracle/DBCTEST/apps/apps_st/xxcust/12.0.0/ftp/inbound
    REMOTE_PATH=public/dbco_cng/reporting
    REMOTE_FILE=*.PGP
    echo "USER = "${USER}
    echo "HOST = "${HOSTNAME}
    echo "Directory = "${PWD}
    cd /u32/oracle/XXXTEST/apps/apps_st/appl/xxcust/12.0.0/ftp/inbound
    echo "Directory = "${PWD}
    echo " Transferring File"
    ftp -n -i -v <<-EOF
    open XX.XX.XXX.XXX
    user $REMOTE_USER $REMOTE_PASSWD
    ##lcd $FTP_DIR
    cd $REMOTE_PATH
    mget $REMOTE_FILE
    EOF
    I get errors like
    /u32/oracle/XXXTEST/apps/apps_st/appl/xxcust/12.0.0/bin/XX_BANKFILE_LOAD.prog: line 108: cd: /u32/oracle/XXXTEST/apps/apps_st/appl/xxcust/12.0.0/ftp/inbound
    : No such file or directory
    or if I just put the cd command:
    cd: commad not found
    The commented out lcd was from previous tries at doing it that way... No luck.
    Thanks.

  • Problem with kfmclient (command not found)

    Today, I tried to run the CUPS web configuration tool, but it failed to run (ie. open the page in Firefox).  I executed the command in the terminal to check for errors, and it said "kfmclient: command not found".
    When I checked pacman for kfmclient, no such package exists.  How do I install kfmclient?

    Just an additional information,
    for 'command not found' problems, pkgtools in community should be helpful. It also have a bash hook to find the package automatically on that error.
    Thanks, regards,
