Bmpanel theme [archack]

modified the 'arch' theme to be really minimal.
used gimp and xfw editor.

credits go to the unknown author of the original theme, if there is a problem I will withdraw.

no there were bugs with the tray coming off the panel and being in the middle of the screen when nsf first added compositing.
to fix it would take too much work so he just disabled the tray when using composite themes if i remember right.
The only option afiak is to run a standalone tray like stalonetray with your composite theme.
Ill definitely look into that, thanks for all the help

  • Bmpanel creates a black gap between my wallpaper and the panel

    I am running Xcompmgr (as you can see by the window shadows) and PekWM. bmpanel is compiled with compositing support (0.9.x, couldn't get bmpanel2 to compile). But whenever I start bmpanel, my wallpaper moves up to make room and leaves a black space. This does not happen with simpler bmpanel themes that don't have pieces extending off the panel.
    As you can see in the screenshot, I'm looking at a screenshot of someone else who has managed to get it working correctly. No clue how, though. The screenshot also contains the CLI feedback.
    I'm setting the wallpaper with feh --bg-scale, do I need to use something else? Running feh again after bmpanel doesn't change anything.
    Thanks!

    I hadte same issue, i wanted that bmpanel theme, and a trayer, but i couldnt use both, so i stoped using bmpanel, im hoping that they will be able to use compozing and have a trayer at the same time, then i will start using it again

  • [SOLVED]Corrupt PekWM?

    OK, this one bothers me as I like using PekWM the most but now can't.
    I've managed to isolate this problem to just the PekWM session. I can't replicate it on xfce or gnome.
    Basically, whenever a pop-up box opens so I can navigate my system files (this could be when choosing where to save a Firefox download, or opening up an image in GIMP...), this action causes the application to seg fault and crash (I checked the terminal outputs, it's a seg fault every time).
    Obviously this makes PekWM unusable to me as I can't download, upload, save, or open any file.
    The OTHER thing that's strange about this PekWM installation is that PekWM's native CmdDialog app (to run commands) doesn't execute any command. Type in a command, press Enter, nothing happens and the dialog stays open. It also doesn't register the backspace or del key.
    Changing the run command app for something else, like gmrun or xfrun4, doesn't work as PekWM won't even load these run command apps.
    What can I do? I want my PekWM back!
    P.S. Using version 0.16

    xorg-server 1.4.2-1
    gtk2 2.12.11-2

    This might be a problem with a display manager. Try using the "startx" method to start pekwm.
    Maybe looking at the pekwm mailing list will help?
    Well, the goods news is that restoring the default settings gives me full functionality back! Is it perhaps, something in my start file that's causing the problem?
    Here it is:

    You need a compositing window manager (Compiz, KWin4, and I think the new Metacity), or an add-on compositer (xcompmgr, bang, ecomp, ecomorph).

  • Setting wallpaper/bmpanel in openbox? [SOLVED]

    I am on my first succesful HD install of Arch wirh Openbox right now and I have been documenting some of the things that are giving me issues. If you are curious about how I went about with my installation you can check this thread out:
    http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=76315
    One of the issues Im having is with themeing and autostart programs. I did a little research and found that in order to have, for instance, my bmpanel and desktop wallpaper start up with x I had to make an autostart.sh under my ~/.config/openbox/ and add this within:
    # Run the system-wide support stuff
    . $GLOBALAUTOSTART
    # Programs to launch at startup
    nitrogen /media/vault/Wallpapers/107320-Tranquility-1680.jpg &
    xcompmgr -c -t-5 -l-5 -r4.2 -o.55 &
    # SCIM support (for typing non-english characters)
    export LC_CTYPE=ja_JP.utf8
    export XMODIFIERS=@im=SCIM
    export GTK_IM_MODULE=scim
    export QT_IM_MODULE=scim
    scim -d &
    # Programs that will run after Openbox has started
    (sleep 2 && bmpanel arch) &
    So thats what I make it look like. I have nitrogen and bmpanel (with arch theme) installed and working correctly. The problem is that when i startx and the script runs, it just opens nitrogen with no images selectable. Also bmpanel does start with arch theme but it is not transparant like in the photo available where I downloaded it.
    I do have composting available as I have my nvidia drivers installed and i checked that it is working in the terminal, but I am at a loss as to why they arent working correctly. I have checked the documentation for this and found it a little lacking? Anyone know where to go from here?

    problem with nitrogen is that in order to set wallpaper from the
    commandline you have to include a switch. Chose whichever of the
    following best suits the image in question.
    nitrogen --set-best
    /media/vault/Wallpapers/107320-Tranquility-1680.jpg &
    nitrogen --set-centered
    /media/vault/Wallpapers/107320-Tranquility-1680.jpg &
    nitrogen --set-scaled
    /media/vault/Wallpapers/107320-Tranquility-1680.jpg &
    nitrogen --set-tiled
    /media/vault/Wallpapers/107320-Tranquility-1680.jpg &
    Or, if you rely on nitrogen's GUI wallpaper interface, you can just
    use the following:
    nitrogen --restore &
    This will set the desktop to the last image you selected via the GUI
    interface.
    Then if you want to get fancy, you can add a menu item to your openbox
    menu to launch the nitrogen selector:
    <item label="Wallpaper">
    <action name="Execute">
    <execute>nitrogen ~/wallpaper</execute>
    </action>
    </item>
    Also never used bmpanel, so can't be of help there. Tint2 and pypanel
    both have nice transparency.

    Whenever I try to (re!)compile BMPanel, the following happens.

    2 aur/bmpanel-git 20080721-1
    BMPanel is a lightweight panel with taskbar, tray, desktop switcher and clock. It is themeable reincarnation of fspanel.

    BMPanel is a lightweight panel with taskbar, tray, desktop switcher and clock. It is themeable reincarnation of fspanel. Panel should work with NETWM (aka EWMH) compliant window manager (tested on openbox3). Systray follows only systray-spec, KDE tray is not supported.

    libxcomposite and libxrender shout be optional, i think. Who don't use composite don't have install this deps.

    The "missing dependancy" complaints were from when I went a little wild with -Rd to free some diskspace up, and they don't look related, but I've included them anyway.
    Obviously, I'm missing some libraries related to imlib and X, but I've tried reinstalling imlib2, fontconfig, libx11, libxrender and libxcomposite, with zero success (and in fact, the dump above was after I'd reinstalled them).
    Any help would be appreciated; I'm going on a wm/panel hunt again. I'm looking for something as minimalistic as twm (which I'm using right now), but with some required features like keyboard-oriented task switching and etc. I've already given openbox its fair few months of usage (and even a modification and recompile or two), next stop PekWM. Once I get the panel in order.

    It builds fine here (on x86_64). Your problem is:
    xargs: xargs.c:443: main: Assertion `bc_ctl.arg_max <= (131072-2048)' failed.
    xargs: xargs.c:443: main: Assertion `bc_ctl.arg_max <= (131072-2048)' failed.
    Is your system up-to-date, especially findutils? you could check in $startdir/src/bmpanel-0.9.26 to see if there is an error log with more details.

  • Bmpanel notification area help

    im using the arch theme of bmpanel , there is no notification area unless i disable composing . when i disable composing there is a ugly white bar across  the top of the panel. when composing was enabled it was black, how do i make it black again without using composing?
    at first i thought that it was transparent with composing on. so i tried enabling composing, and set that wall paper to somthing that isnt black, and the bar was still black :S
    see this screen shot for better idea. (its quite big that why i didnt use IMG code)

    Well, to do it with raw Xlib, you can use the following to dock the new window:
    /*** NOTE:
    tray_icon is the window which you want docked
    It should support: _NET_WM_NAME, WM_CLASS, _NET_WM_ICON
    I'm not sure if the window actually needs any visual representation... the _NET_WM_ICON may handle it
    Window tray_icon, systray;
    unsigned long xembed_info[2];
    XEvent e;
    //Set XEMBED info
    xembed_info[0] = 0;
    xembed_info[1] = 0;
    XChangeProperty(display, tray_icon,
    XInternAtom(display, "_XEMBED_INFO", False ),
    XInternAtom(display, "_XEMBED_INFO", False ),
    32, PropModeReplace, (unsigned char*)xembed_info, 2);
    //systray window
    //NOTE: _NET_SYSTEM_TRAY_Sx where x is Screen#
    // You can use DefaultScreen(...) to get the actual #
    systray = XGetSelectionOwner(display, XInternAtom(display, "_NET_SYSTEM_TRAY_S0", False ),
    //now dock into the systray
    e.xclient.type = ClientMessage;
    e.xclient.window = systray;
    e.xclient.message_type = XInternAtom (display, "_NET_SYSTEM_TRAY_OPCODE", False );
    e.xclient.format = 32;
    e.xclient.data.l[0] = CurrentTime;
    e.xclient.data.l[1] = SYSTEM_TRAY_REQUEST_DOCK;
    e.xclient.data.l[2] = tray_icon;
    e.xclient.data.l[3] = 0;
    e.xclient.data.l[4] = 0;
    XSendEvent(display, systray, False, NoEventMask, &e);
    XSync(display, False);
    This isn't guarenteed to work... I've done it once before, but this was written in the forums, so who knows what crazy errors I introduced... take it with a grain of salt - I'm assuming you know what you're doing and can make this work

  • Bmpanel keeps throwing errors when run

    After finally managing to compile bmpanel, I keep getting the following error, every second. As in, it repeats every single second.
    ***** Imlib2 Developer Warning ***** :
    This program is calling the Imlib call:
    imlib_blend_image_onto_image();
    With the parameter:
    source_image
    being NULL. Please fix your program.
    I have a feeling that this is because I'm not using xcompmgr because my chipset does not support composite rendering...?
    Is there a way I can disable composite support if this is the case, or can I simply close the terminal and ignore the messages and not worry about some buffer filling up and crashing my system?
    Also, two other issues:
    * Where do I put themes? I can't see any info on this anywhere; yaourt deletes a package's source files when it's done compiling them automatically (a very B A D idea, IMHO) so if they're in there, I've no idea.
    * Why is the panel offset by its own height from the bottom of my screen?

    There's no config files för bmpanel, all configuration is done in the theme-files. If you want to disable composite:
    use_composite 0

  • Halp with my theme :

    I'm really not sure if this is the right forum to ask this in, so correct me if it isn't.
    I need help with my theme. I've tried so many openbox/GTK2 combos and nothing looks right with the rest of it
    Can anyone suggest something that would look nice with my setup? ;__;
    Or even just colors to use for editing existing GTK2 themes?
    In exchange I offer the rest of my wallpaper collection, http://cgi.alrig.ht/wg/res/1.html

    haxit wrote:I have a few suggestions. Smaller fonts, maybe even a pixel font for you conky and rss feed sidebar.
    It looks like your using tint, try not having that border around it. Also try another wallpaper.
    That is my opinion tho. Check out the september/august screenshots, and you will get lots of ideas. Also tell us what style your into.
    Well, the desktop is fine for me. I really like it.
    Couldn't use Tint, since you can't use images with it. The taskbar circle things were made to match the wallpaper, with bmpanel which can use png images for the bar.
    All I'm having troubles with is my GTK2 and Openbox theme. So if anyone goes "Oh, I know a GTK2 theme that would look great with that!", I would rly appreciate it :'D

    We don't know what Apple plans on doing to change this (and it may not be just Apple but more likely the publishers, since Apple would, of course, do whatever it could to maximize sales/profits).  Right now you can only read Apple books on mobile devices. Sure, buy them from Amazon if you want to read them on the computer. We don't work for Apple so we're pretty impartial on this kind of advice.
    You might also see what your library can offer.  My wife can browse the county library from her iPhone, borrow e-versions, and read books on it too.  Free!

  • Podcast episodes download to wrong folder. How can I move them?

    Some of my downloaded podcast episodes seem to be going to incorrect folders.
    For example, I subscribe to the Photoshop TV podcast. Some of the downloaded episodes go into the iTunes Music folder>Podcasts>Photoshop TV folder. This seems to me to be the correct path.
    But most of the episodes wind up in iTunes Music folder>Unknown Artist>Unknown Album folder, along with many unrelated, non-podcast files.
    Now when I search in the Library for<Photoshop> all the Photoshop TV files appear, along with other files referencing Photoshop. But when I search the Library using <Photoshop TV> as the search term, only the Photoshop TV files in the Unknown Album folder show up, but not the ones in the Podcasts>Photoshop TV folder.
    And finally when I cllick on Podcasts in the Source pane, once again only the Photoshop TV files in the Unknown Album show up.
    I've tried adding those Photoshop TV files back to the library but they remain in the Unknown Album folder.
    I haven't tried rebuilding the library yet. I will, but it seems that wont actually move any files. I could also recreating a new library moving my iTunes music folder out of the iTunes folder and then adding them all back. That seems like overkill and I might very well end up with the same problem. (I'm not sure how many of my other Podcast subscriptions have this problem, but not many)
    So,
    1) how can I get these Photoshop TV files into the Podcasts>Photoshop TV folder, and
    2) how can I make this the folder that shows up when I search via the Podcast source, and
    3) what causes this problem?

  • Sharepoint foundation create your own theme

    Hi,
    I was wondering.. We recently had a visit from a person who have giving us a presentation of Sharepoint in our company.
    That person was talking about the free version of Sharepoint -> Sharepoint Foundation and he told us that it was possible just like the normal Sharepoint version to develop an own theme.
    I have been searching alot over the internet the past days but did not really found where i was looking for. My main job is developing websites (PHP, HTML, Javascript & jQuery, CSS, ...) so i could make a business theme to use in the Sharepoint enviroment.
    But since there is no Design Manager in the foundation version i was wondering how i could link that self made theme to the foundation version?
    This person who was here for the presentation even gave us some examples of foundation enviroments where they have completely changed the look & feel and style (metro style i.e.) and i was wondering how they have done that with the Sharepoint Foundation?
    Can someone help me on the way?
    Thanks!

    I am replicating some of the sample report of SQL Servers in BusinessObjects XI R3.1.
    One of the SQL Sever's report is of product catalogue type that gives complete information like name, category, description along with the products image etc... for each of the products.
    I am trying to replicate the above said SQL Server report in Business objects XI R3.1. I am facing problem in bringing the image in to my BO report. The image resides in a table and its datatype is of varbinary(max). I don't know the exact matching while creating an object in the uiverse designer.

  • HT201328 Hi there, I purchased an Iphone 4S, it is currently locked with one carrier, I am in a contract with another carrier. I am trying to unlock the phone, but the Carrier says I have to activate it through them to unlock it. I so not want to do that,

    Hi there, my daughter purchased a used iPhone 4S from a local newspaper who has had it in the lost and found for nearly a year, and no one ever claimed it. It is locked with Telus, my daughter is a Virgin Mobile customer. Telus told me they will only unlock it if she activates it with them, she cannot do that as she is in a contract with Virgin. Is there anything I can do to get around this problem?

    Only the carrier to which the iPhone is locked can unlock it. In
    this case, you must work with Telus. If they have a pay as you go
    plan, activate the iPhone on Telus that way and then after
    you meet whatever requirements Telus has, stop using Telus
    and move the iPhone to Virgin. Or sell the iPhone to someone
    who can use it on Telus.
    Telus is the only one who can unlock that iPhone.
