BO Complete FrontEnd Kit

Hi gurus,
I am new to BO and not sure if this is the right place to post my query.
I need to know if I can download complete SAP BO FrontEnd kit that includes all the below mentioned softwares -
a) Universe Designer,
b) Universe Builder,
c) XCelsius,
d) Desktop Intelligence,
e) Web Intelligence,
f) QAAWS
etc...
Basically I need to install all the FrontEnd components on my machine. I have BOXI3.1 SP3 installed on my AIX backend. I need to know what FrontEnd component version I should install and where can I find the same.

1.Go to Service Market Place https://service.sap.com and click on SAP Support Portal
2.Click on Software Downloads > BusinessObjects Download > Browse the SAP BusinessObjects Portfolio
(To download product installers)
Installation and Upgrade
Select SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence platform (SBOP Enterprise) > BOBJ Enterprise 3.1
Select Installation > Windows > Click on Downloads Tab
(To download Service/Support packs, Fixpacks/Patches)
Support Packages and Patches

Which method is safer? I don't want my two rams to be incompatible, but I know all the specs that I should buy: PC3-10600, 204 pin, DDR3, SDRAM, 4GB, 1333 MHz

You should be fine purchasing and installing 1 x 4 GB memory chip as long as it is the same PC3-10600.

!!! We Want Design-Specs Of The MEGA LED-displays !!!

Every once in a while someone opens a topic in which he/she askes for a possibility to control the LED display. Some have even sent e-mails to MSI support, only to receive no for an answer. I see no reason why MSI could not release more details about the LED panel, specifically because most of us feel like a bunch of Beta-testers. Hey, we don't even ask for a complete SDK-kit, I think that sufficient knowledge about (hardware)programming is available amongst the users of this forum to make direct use of the design specifications.
Therefore I would ask you to reply to this post to make a general statement towards MSI, and hopefully convince them of releasing the so-wanted data.

Second thing: I worte to MSI (germany) for the specs of the LCD and they transfered by to a technician/programmer in Taiwan. After his holiday he told me that he mustn't give any information about it out. This is again one more example of data protection that just blocks every kind of progress. At the moment I AM expecting an SDK. I won't spend my whole free time to do THEIR job - well and if I do - I'm sure I will charge. I've seen this trouble with the girder plugin which was very very little work compared with an LCD control - enough is enough
Why should anybody of us HELP MSI do make their products more attractive? That's what it's really all about.

Super wide Zoom and Super telephoto Zoom for 6D without vignette effect

I have a Canon 6D Full frame camera. And I just bought the 24- 70 L II USM lens.
To complete my kit, I'm looking to invest a super wide zoom ( as low as 10 going uptil 22/ 24 mm) and super telephoto above 70 mm going uptil 300 mm (both preferably L series USM, with wide openings along the full focal range)
Before I make the purchases I want to be sure which lenses do NOT have the problem of vignetting AT ALL.
I am okay with barell distorition on the wide. But vignetting is something I want to totally avoid.
All you experienced folks out there, please guide me. Would also appreciate any links to lists that enumerate the same.
Alternatively I am also open to using prime lenses, but they are really low on my preference.

In most software that allows you to add in some vignetting, you can also subtract it.
Some apps have lens profiles so they know how much vignetting occurs with that specific lens and at various focal lengths.
But you can also do this manually. In astro imaging we calls these images "flats". The purpose of a "flat" is to determine how much vignetting there is in an image so that we can correctly adjust for it using a program like Photoshop.
To create a "flat" you would cover the lens with a piece of white translucent fabric. Put some light on the fabric so that the fabric itself is evenly lit. This means the view through the camera is basically just an all-white field with no contrast or features. Then take a photo (it doesn't matter that the camera cannot focus on the fabric.)
What you'll get is an all-white image typically brighter in center and dimmer toward the edges but the image can be used to measure the lens' specific vignetting (and in the case of a zoom that level of vignetting would vary by focal length.) The image can be used as a reference image with software to completely eliminate vignetting.
A photographer would normally not go to such extremes to get a perfectly flat field (lighting wise), but astro-imagers have to do this as a matter of routine.

Installation of ECC 6.0

Hi guys
I am about to install Swedish Baseline 2.6 and that is on top of a SAP ECC 6.0 installation.
Question I have is exactly where do I found ECC 6.0 installation? My guess is that it is a part of Netweaver 7.0 but when downloading "Installation Master" and looking at the different selections I can not see an option for ECC 6.0.
I want to make sure after installing I have an ECC 6.0 :-). Any input I appreciate of course, any links to where to find the right media to download?
Plattform we are using is Windows 64 bit and Max DB is the one we are going for.

Hi, thank you. I am a bit ahead and still I am very puzzled, I did as you said found out that ECC 6.0 is a part of ERP 6.0 that is available to download. Also I found that you need ERP 6.0 as well as Netweaver 7.0 in order to have a complete installtation kit.
Only problem is that I do not find any "Master Installation" that gives me opportunity to install a Central and DB instance, either in NW 7.0 or in ERP 6.0.
If I look at downloads under SAP Marketplace and My Companys application --> "SAP ERP", I go for "SAP ERP 6.0" and my guess was that all media I needed was partily here and under "SAP NETWEAVER 7.0" (?).
Have anyone experience from installed ECC 6.0 (?). What is the proper progress?

2. Checkbox ERP 6.0 and Netweaver 7.0 ??
Or is there a installation of NW 7.0 first and ERP 6.0 as an addon ?

ACD Cable Extension

Soes anyone know if a standard DVI dual link extension cable (such as this one http://www.cablestogo.com/product.asp?cat%5fid=3315&sku=29530) will work with the 30" ACD? Or is Apple's cabling proprietary?

Apple uses standard dual-link DVI, but long cables can cause problems. From your link:
"Note: DVI-D (digital) has a length limitation of 5 meters."
When you add the length of the cable attached to the Apple display, you will be over that limit, and may need a signal amplifier. Even if the total length were within the limit, the extra connecters can degrade the signal and cause problems.

Adobe FlashIslands: Datacommunication and performance

Hello everybody,
We're building a complete frontend in Flash Islands, and at the moment we're working with just data binding.
What I know at the moment:
- fireEvent to SAP backend and pass along parameter(s)
- [Bindable] vars in frontend, and binding them with context nodes in backend.
Now I'm wondering if there's a possibility to sent some sort of event with parameters from the backend to the Flex frontend?
And does anybody advice using binding when dealing with large amounts of data such as binding a large internal table? Or are BSP's and webservices (xml) more advised, or other options? (are there already any performance tests done perhaps?)

Hi Kim,
wouldn't it be lovely to have the ability to event to an island - unfortunately not at the moment - best you can do is set up a certain variable to change and use this to flag that an event has occurred.
As for the data transfer - I have set up processes so that once data has been transferred, the island sends back an event - I catch that event and clear down the context. Otherwise the entire context is resent on every update of the screen - which can mean LOTS of data being resent. I handle sending deltas only within my island component - so only updates are sent - and the island is written to understand and cope with deltas.
If you follow this approach then the islands can provide good performance - I pass org chart data of 1000's of records and the speed is quite quick - even when using poor networks. Indeed the ability to render client side using the island means that it is generally well received compared to conventional WDA where the network connection is poor.
Thomas a while back talked about some better delta handling coming in 7.02 but I think that wasn't for data... but I may have been confused. (I often am). Have a search of the forums for the thread - search on delta and island...

How do I enable infrared remote triggering on my Canon Rebel T5

My awesome wife bought me a complete starter kit with a Canon Rebel T5 (not a T5i) for my birthday... I'm so stoked! In the starter kit was an infrared remote that looks like this.
It says I just need to set my camera to accept remote triggering in order to use this remote. But I cannot for the life of me find it! I tried searching google but any time I type anything remotely (no pun intended) related to Canon Rebel, I get pages and pages of places to buy one and not much information at all on how to use one.

Procedure for Integrating Alpha Channel when saving as .dds file

Hello,
I'll try to keep this brief but that may be tough...
One project I use Photoshop CS4 for is painting aircraft used with Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX). Here is some background for folks who aren't familiar with this.
Each aircraft is downloaded as a "Paint Kit". The kits look much like the "trees" that plastic aircraft model kit pieces come attached to (see picture below).
I paint and add layers onto the kit until the aircraft resembles the design I chose. The paint kit includes a background, base parts usually in white, and an assortment of layers adding physical wear, shading, lines and rivets you see on actual aircraft.
Additionally, the kit includes an RGB Alpha Channel and Specular Maps. In this application, the Alpha channel provides the reflectivity or gloss on the aircraft paint. The Specular maps provide a sheen much like the subtle reflections you see from a metal flake paint job when the sun hits it directly.
Once all painting and manipulation is complete, the kit is "cut" into specific sizes. Once the kit is cut, each section is saved as a DDS file using NVidia tools. The resulting DDS files are placed into folders within the main FSX program folder. The FSX program "assembles" the sections and processes the different layers and channels resulting in aircraft that are incredibly detailed and realistic.
My problem is I don't know how to properly integrate and preserve the Alpha channel during the "Flatten Image" and when saving the file as a dds file. As you can see in the "Layers" section in the picture, the Alpha channel is already made. I just don't know what to do with it to preserve it and ensure the reflectivity it provides is visible in the final product.
Any help is appreciated - what I need to know isn't what the alpha does, but how to properly integrate it into the final product. I've searched for this info for the last several days, but I've had no luck in finding specific information on how to do that. I believe it's one of those procedures that is so simple, everyone knows how to do it. I guess I'm the only idiot on the planet that doesn't know how... .

I know nothing about Nvidia DDS file format or 3D. From you screen capture you have no Alpha Channel. You do have a normal layer named Alpha Channel with its visibility turn off. Why are you flatting ? When I use Save As and use the file type pull-down and select DDS format to save I get the Nvidia DDS save Dialog that I do not know how to use or understand the buttons options or pull-down menu items. The file instruction and its background make no does not seem to match up with the parts.
I think you have to read the documentation for the Nvidia DDS plug-in. and the normal map plug-in https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop

Why can't I get wireless on my mac mini?

I have an airport express setup in my room for my macbook and it works great...I also have a mac mini G4 and would like to try and get a wireless through that one, but when I go to network diagnostic's airport is not an option. Do I need an airport card installed or should it work automatically?

Actually the full kit also includes a bluetooth module and antenna to add that functionality too.
An airport extreme card on it's own will therefore have no place to connect to inside the mini, nor an antenna to connect to it.
