BO Edge in a 2008MSCS cluster

Hello,
Is it possible to install BO edge in a 2008 MSCS cluster?
I have found the wiki /people/ray.li3/blog/2010/06/28/clustering-bo-edge-with-mscs, but it says that it is not supported and not legal. There will be license problems.
Thanks and best regards,
Ana

Edge is a single server install - installing it on a cluster would indeed be against the conditions of the licence agreement.
It depends on how busy/volatile your environment is but you can either back up your single server often or look at an Enterprise licence. Any more than 50 named users and you would be looking at Enterprise licencing anyway.
Regards,
Mark

  • IMAQ edge tool 2 "First + last edge" - returns position only of the first edge

I`m using "IMAQ edge tool 2.vi" with  Process set to detect "First and last edge. It`s obvious from Edge infromation indicator that it returns only one point coordinates. Where are the coordinates of the last edge detection?
Note: it detects edges along the long green  horizontal line, so there are definitevely at least 2 edges.
    Thanks for advice.

    Hey Martin,
This may sound silly, but what happens if you scroll to the next entry in your cluster? Right now you are displaying the information for your '0' edge on the front panel. What happens if you index to the '1' edge in your cluster and hence look at the information on the second edge. Is the cluster blank when looking at the 'zero' edge? If it is, perhaps the settings on your find edge step are too strict and the step doesn't pick up on a second edge.
If the problem persists, perhaps posting your sample vi and a sample picture will help clear things up.
    Hope this helps!

  • Warning host not found in topology

Hi I am new to Lync. After following tutorial to install Lync Server 2013 (front end) on Server 2012 R2, everything worked like charm. Then I decided to enable external access (another Windows 2012 R2) , so I started with Edge installation. Unfortunately
when I run Setup Lync Components, I get "Warning host not found in topology. All roles will be uninstalled."
I can find that this error is connected with DNS suffix.
I looked which name was not found in the error and it is Hostname: imc-leg.domain.local
The only difference is that name is written in small letter, when I open to see Computername or run hostaname in cmd I get IMC-LEG. I also added suffix domain.local in the advance options before I started with the configuration. I am also not sure if "-"
sign is allowed. If not can I just delete edge server from topology, rename the server and recreate the topology or not ?
My edge server has 2 NICs, 1st is LAN NIC 192.168.10.28 and second is in DMZ 192.168.3.28. We have static IP address.
LAN NIC has IP, Subnet Mask, DNS (AD)
DMZ NIC has IP, SNM, DGateway.
Both have File and print sharing for microsoft networks disabled ( I read somewhere that it can be disabled _ I would appreciate some opinions)
From Lync server I can ping FQDN of edge server, also DNS record in AD is created.
When I open topology on Lync Server (IMC-LSRV.domain.com), I can see Edge Pools : IMC-LEG.domain.local with internal LAN address (192.168.10.28) next hop is IMC-LSRV.domain.com. External Settings are: Access Edge service is sip.domain.com with DMZ address
192.168.3.28 also web conferencing and A-v edge service.  Oud static IP appears in NAT-Enables public IP address.
Please help, I really don't know what to do

One more thing just like an info for the people that are trying to install Lync for the first time (like me), once configuration is exported from the FE Server name of the edge server must be in the xml file inside zip folder. Mine wasn't there so this was
first sign that something was wrong (I think with publishing topology). Now I see that my edge server is listed
    -<Cluster Fqdn="IMC-LEG.domain.local" RequiresSetup="true" RequiresReplication="true">
    <ClusterId SiteId="1" Number="3"/>
    -<Machine Fqdn="IMC-LEG.domain.local" OrdinalInCluster="1">
    <NetInterface IPAddress="192.168.107.28" InterfaceNumber="1" InterfaceSide="Internal"/>
    <NetInterface IPAddress="192.168.33.28" InterfaceNumber="1" InterfaceSide="External" ConfiguredIPAddress="StaticIP xxxxxx."/>
    </Machine>
    </Cluster>
    </Clusters>
And I have now one more question. When replication is supposed to happen. I didn't install certificates yet (3rd step) and when I run :
    PS C:\windows\system32> Get-CsManagementStoreReplicationStatus | ft
           UpToDate ReplicaFqdn     LastStatusReport LastUpdateCreation ProductVersion
               True IMC-Lync.dom... 23.04.2014 1... 23.04.2014 1... 5.0.8308.0
              False IMC-LEG.dom....

  • CPU license definition

    Hi there,
Is it possible to do CMS clustering with CPU license*1 ?
If not, is it possible to add report servers to multiple machine with CPU license*1?
    Thanks,
    Chris

I don't think clustering and adding report servers are a function of the CPU license, if using crystal reports server of business objects edge then you cannot cluster. If using Business Objects Enterprise then it should be supported if the CMS's are on machines with only 1 CPU (or more based on the license) for more details on the ins and outs you will need to talk to your account rep about the CPU license.

  • Cisco Expressway Core & Edge Cluster, or Disaster Recovery Setup

    Hi All,
    Dear experts,
I have two sites HQ & Branch.below are my questions for Expressway Core & Edge Cluster
    1. Can i create one cluster for 6 sever for  Expressway Core and distribute 3 server in HQ &  3 server in Branch for HA
    2. Can i create one cluster for 6 sever for  Expressway Edge and distribute 3 server in HQ & 3 server in Branch for HA
    3. How would be the DNS SRV records and call flow work if the main site  Expressway Edge goes down in HQ. How the Branch Side Expressway Edge becomes active for B2B calls.
    4. What is the best design to have disaster recovery for Expressway core and Expressway Edge between Sites(HQ & Branch)
    Regards,
    Irf

Regarding 1 and 2, as long as the round trip delay is no more than 30ms maximum, you should be fine.  I presume the HQ Branch offices for the Expressway-Core have a shared internal network, since the Core goes inside the corporate network, while the Edge goes in the DMZ or outside the network for public access.
For 3, as long as you have your SRV records setup correct, you can set the priority of which office gets used first, and then second, in case of a failure.
I don't have an answer for 4 unfortunately.

    Hi Marcelo,
Yes, there are some requirements for certificates in Expressway.
    Expressway Core (Exp-C)
    - Can be signed by either External or Internal CA
    - Better to use a cluster name even if you start with 1 peer in Exp-C cluster. In the future, if more peers are added, changes would be minimal.
    - Better to use FQDN of cluster as CN of certificate, this way the traversal zone configuration on Expressway-E won't require any change even if new peers are added to Exp-C cluster.
    - If CUCM is mixed mode, include security profile names (in FQDN format) as Subject Alternate Names
    - The Chat Node Aliases that are configured on the IM and Presence servers. They will be required only for Unified Communications XMPP federation deployments that intend to use both TLS and group chat. (Note that Unified Communications XMPP federation will be supported in a future Expressway release). The Expressway-C automatically includes the chat node aliases in the CSR, providing it has discovered a set of IM&P servers.
    - For TLS b/w CUCM, IM-P & Exp-C
+ If using self-signed certificates on CUCM, IM/P. Load Cisco Tomcat, cup, cup-xmpp certificates from IM-P on Exp-C. Load callmanager, Cisco Tomcat certificates from CUCM on Exp-C.
+ If using Internal CA signed certificates on CUCM, IM/P. Load Root CA certificates on Exp-C.
      + Load CA certificate under tomcat-trust, cup-trust, cup-xmpp-trust on IM-P.
+ Load CA certificate under tomcat-trust, callmanager-trust on CUCM.
    Expressway Edge (Exp-E)
    - Signed by External CA
    - Configured Unified Communications domain as Subject Alternate Name
    - If using a cluster, select FQDN of this peer as CN and FQDN of Cluster + this peer as Subject Alternate Name.
    - If XMPP federation is being deployed, enter the same Chat Node Aliases as entered in Exp-C.

  • BEST PRACTICE FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF REPORTS CLUSTER

    Hi,
i've read the noter reports_gueide_to_changed_functionality on OTN.
On Page 5 ist stated that reports cluster is deprecated.
    Snippet:
Oracle Application Server High Availability provides the industry’s most
reliable, resilient, and fault-tolerant application server platform. Oracle
Reports’ integration with OracleAS High Availability makes sure that your
enterprise-reporting environment is extremely reliable and fault-tolerant.
Since using OracleAS High Availability provides a centralized clustering
mechanism and several cutting-edge features, Oracle Reports clustering is now
    deprecated.
Please can anyone tell me, what is the best practice to replace reports cluster.
It's really annoying that the clustering technology is changing in every version of reports!!!
    martin

    hello,
in reality, reports server "clusters" was more a load balancing solution that a clustering (no shared queue or cache). since it is desirable to have one load-balancing/HA approach for the application server, reports server clustering is deprecated in 10gR2.
we understand that this frequent change can cause some level of frustration, but it is our strong believe that unifying the HA "attack plan" for all of the app server components will utimatly benefit custoemrs in simpifying their topologies.
the current best practice is to deploy LBRs (load-balancing routers) with sticky-routing capabilites to distribute requests across middletier nodes in an app-server cluster.
several custoemrs in high-end environments have already used this kind of configuration to ensure optimal HA for their system.
    thanks,
    philipp

  • [ASR9K nvEdge]How to decide who will be primary DSC after cluster rebuild?

    Hi
I have a question about ASR9K nvEdge cluster.
Normally, when the EOBC & IRL link are disconnected, the cluster will enter into "split node" status.
each rack will think itself is primary DSC.
My question is that after the EOBC & IRL are reconneted(cluster rebuild), whick one (rack0 or rack1) will be the primary DSC? and why?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Yes that's perfect thanks for the details. This is the expected behavior. In fact this is how we will be achieving nv ssu. Which is a new feature on the roadmap. What happens here is rack0 goes down and it sends out beacons while booting on eobc(your step 5) finds that there is a responding DSC (Rack1) gets the sw from rack 1 and reboots and joins the cluster as nonDSC.
Have you had a chance to review the nv edge deployment guide? It has these details.
    Eddie.

  • SOA Cluster: Managed Server startup issue

    Hi,
I did the SOA clustering as follows:
    10.111.122.133 – Admin Server and soa_server1
    10.111.122.136 – soa_server2
Configured "soadomain" that contains Admin Server, soa_server1 and soa_server2.
used pack and unpack to replicate domain structure in the box where soa_server2 resides.
when I start managed server soa_server2, I'm getting the following issue:

I have checked the domain config file /softwares/app/Middleware/user_projects/domains/soadomain/config/config.xml of Box 2 where soa_server2 resides and found that <source-path> tags are having the paths pointing to Oracle_SOA1 (soa home of soa_server1) as shown in the sample below instead of soa home Oracle_SOA2 of soa_server2.
    <source-path>/softwares/app/Middleware/Oracle_SOA1/soa/connectors/FileAdapter.rar</source-path>
Can I change Oracle_SOA1 to Oracle_SOA2 in all the paths to overcome the below issue or you see any fundamental issue here ... please advise.
    Thanks,

    Hello Dear Poster....
Were you able to resolve your issue. I also followed the EDG and I'm in the same situation. I did everything per the instructions. The first cluster for WSM does not have any issues. But both the nodes or managed servers on the two nodes show similar behavior.

  • HyperV Failover Cluster - twice some vms lost network

So i run a 4 node Hyper V Failover Cluster and twice now.... out of months of operations out of the blue on a node a portion of the VMs just lose network access(this has happened on two different nodes). I can just pause the node and everything migrates
off, and then its back up and going. Give it some time and i can unpause and move back. I am looking for ideas on what could be causing this.
There servers are Dell Power Edge 620 with the latest MS patches and Dell drivers and firmware. On my public side i have a 2 nic team using MS software teaming.

    What are the NICs?
If Broadcom Netextreme disable VMQ as there's a known issue with them resulting in network loss
    They are broadcom :/
    Thanks for the tip.
I will google around but do you have any links for this information?

  • Quick Cluster no longer appears in drop down lists

I haven't changed any settings, one day my cluster just disappears off all the lists it used to appear in (selecting which cluster to use in Compressor, Compressor Droplets and Shake)
Now all that shows is "My Computer".
The QuickCluster wasn't anything special, it was just a local cluster with 16 instances (all on my own computer) to take advantage of the many cores in my machine, unlike My Computer which runs a single thread and uses only an eighth of my available processing power.
Reinstall? Something backend? Force Refresh somewhere I'm unfamiliar with?
I've had my fair share of Qmaster/Compressor problems in the past, but this time I'm not having any trouble finding my cluster in Qadministrator, my Qmaster System Prefs aren't greyed out or anything, the only thing I can think of is my recent update to 10.6.3, but I can't be sure that was the trigger.

Do you have any issue with just creating a regular cluster? instead of a quick cluster? it's not hard and much more reliable. Follow the steps below (this was originally written for multiple computers so if something references multiple computers, sorry- I did my best to edit my previous post to somebody else)
Stop All services in the Qmaster Prefs window.
Under the "setup" tab, Click the middle Bubble "Services and cluster controller". In the "services" section next to compressor check both "share" and "managed" boxes. Options for selected services, click and set as high (or low) as you want. More = Faster, Less = slower but sometimes more stable depending on your RAM.
In the advanced tab, delete files older than : 7 days should suffice unless space is a problem. make it smaller.
Reset the services by holding option and clicking the "start services" and then hit ok on drop-down warning that will show up. Release option and click "Start Sharing".
Open "Apple Qadministrator". On the upper-left field are the actual Clusters (shouldn't be anything there). click the "+" symbol and create a cluster, Name it whatever you want. On the lower field (Qmaster Service Browser, May be hidden, just click the grey triangle to the left to drop down the field) there should be a list of the computers you have available to cluster. Click on the cluster you just created, Select all the computer in the Qmaster Service browser, and drag it into the upper right field, anywhere in the rectangle. The outer edge should highlight with a thick black bar. release and the computer should move into that field and out of the Qmaster Services Browser.
Click on the "Controller" drop-down menu and Select the controller. When you hit Apply, the "Storage:" Field (directly under the "Controller" drop-down box) should change to reflect the storage location you set in the Qmaster Preferences. When you do this, you have created a cluster.
When you send out of compressor - make sure you are either sending Quick time reference files (you shouldn't have any issues with that) or quicktime self-contained files.
You CANNOT "Export to compressor..." from final cut. You CANNOT have your timeline open and do the usual "file>export>using compressor...". You MUST export a QuickTime reference (faster by only using render referenced files. THE TIMELINES MUST BE FULLY RENDERED, option+R instead of Cmd+R) or QT Self-Contained File (slower but more reliable as every frame is rendered. This can triple your time).
It's an extra step up front, but the transcoding time is SIGNIFICANTLY faster - and you can continue working in final Cut on other projects.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

  • Step between FMS2.0 and Orion/edge for video chat

We are planing a deployment of 4 FMS 2.0 Pro boxes with
hardware load balancing on port 1935 working successfully.
This allows for vertical scaling as we grow.
Our troubles are comming in video chat. I cant cluster chat
till Orion/Edge, but our needs are just barely outside a single box
configuration. Has anyone mastered video/chat pre-clusterd
    solutions?
    thanks!

AIM said this about AIM 6.5 http://www.aim.com/helpfaq/starting_out/getstarted.adp#608
There is no information that they have posted that says AIM 6.8 is any better.
Some say it will work (AIM in General that is)
This is certainly needed http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page12.html#_Service to allow the app through the Windows Firewall.
In the AIM Preferences you will also have to select the camera in the Enhanced IM tab
The Mic should be selected in the control Panels as a System wide thing.
AIM since before AIM 5.9 has used port 1024-5000 as well as the Login on port 5190 and there is no reason to suspect it is any different now.
These ports will need to be allowed or open in your routing device.

  • Portrait retouch, need to get rid of cluster of flyaways under chin on neck

HI, I'm retouching a portrait and there is a cluster of hair under my subject's chin. I cannot get rid of it and keep the natural look to the edge of the hair. Does anyone have any recommendations? I would greatly appreciate it.

Blimey Benjamin.  Frequency separation is a bit heavy for an apparently new Photoshop user.
Double chin removal is a multi step process.  You need to remove the shading that produce the ripple effect in the skin, smoother the skin, and clean the neck line.
Skin smoothing can be done with negative clarity in the Camera RAW filter, but on a new layer so you can mask in where you do and don't want the affect.
The neck line can be done starting with the Liquify filter, then when reasonably close, run a work path through the required neck line; make it a selection, and feather it a bit (.5).  Now make a new layer, and use the clone tool to fill any gaps on the neck side, then invert selection and use clone tool on the other side.
Use Dodge and burn to fix the shading, but it's hard to get a really nice result.  I sometimes make my own skin tones with the paint brush and suitable noise, then add my own shading to produce the required contours.
It is not a particularly easy thing to make a realistic fix, but you should be able to improve things at least.

  • Process for Adding Additional WAE to 4.0.11 Cluster with CIFS

I will be adding an additional WAE 612 W/ 4GB of memory to an existing single WAE 612/4GB cluster in the future. What is the best practice process for adding the second WAE to the cluster. I would like to do the WCCP configuration last. Whats the easiest way to move the policies from the existing WAE to the second wae. Is it as simple as just creating a Cluster Device Group and then adding both devices to the group. Will the second WAE inherit the settings for WAFS as well? I am not concerned about the WAAS setup.
I don't have access to the credentials for the CIFS connection on the core WAE today so i would really like to know if i can complete this install by just copying settings from the existing WAE using the device group settings.
I am also going to reverse the 61 and 62 settings to ensure that the inbound client connections get load balanced across the WAE properly.
    Any other things to consider?
    Thanks in advance
    Mike

    Mike,
The edges will always reconnect to the same core unless it's not available. In 4.0.x, WCCP does not effect CIFS connections (4050 connections), only load balancing the TCP connections outside the 4050 connections. I have manually load balanced edges before via expert mode on the edge GUI, but it's fairly unwieldy. How many edges do you have? I can dig up the procedure if you want to use it.
You can get decent load balancing by setting up both cores so they are both taking edge connections, take the old core offline (stopping the service in the GUI) for several minutes and then bringing it back up. A good number of your edges should now be on the new core and some will still be on the old core.
Also, remember it's best practice to try and keep N+1 at your core. If you loose a core WAE in your cluster and a single Core can't handle the CIFS traffic, you will continue to get CIFS optimization.
    Hope that helps,
    Dan
