BO on HANA - Hidden gems

Hi there fellow HANA developers and business users,
usually I am not the guy to post on SCN, but I simply had to do it this time. Last week I found my first ‘SAP- Easter Egg’: The SAP HANA Oracle of Delphi (OoD) features.
This is a gem – more than pure gold – which I have to share with the community. When you are using BO frontends (any) with SAP HANA DB, you can unlock the hidden calculation functions. Have you ever thought “Gosh, why isn’t it possible to calculate means and standard deviations with the basic installation of HANA?”? Then, asking old buddy google gives you: “That is due to the new database design. Calculating means in column store simply is too costly…” That is a lie or at least a joke from our friends at “the three blue letters”. It is possible. And completely for free. All you have to do is to unlock the OoD-Features.
I did it by pure luck. All you have to do is to left click in the geometric center of any report you have designed in any BO frontend and the installation dialogue box will pop up. At first I thought: That’s not possible or I was drunk… But I was able to reproduce it on other systems. The first time, it was hard and took me about 15 hours. But it was totally worth it.
OoD enables you to do almost everything directly on Hana. Want a mean? Done. Want a standard deviation? Done. Want a cup of hot Brazilian coffee and fresh pancakes? Done. (Nah… kidding… :-) )

Get Info about Enum TypeDef as Variant using Hidden Gems in vi library

Hi,
I am using LabVIEW 2013 SP1.
I need to input different strict type definition enums into a subvi, so I have decided the subvi input to be Variant and to use the Hidden Gems in vi library in order to get details about the typedef and the data selected (enum string selected).
I found the Hidden Gems in vi library very useful, see the image attached.
However, I would like to have the path of the strict type control but I get an error, and also, in order to get the enum string I can use the enum U16 'data' and select the corresponding index from the 'EnumNames' array, but... as you can see in the image it seems like the variant "knows" what enum string I have selected, but trying to convert it to anything other than U16 produce an error.
Maybe there is someone that know how to solve these inconveniences ?

What additional info in the TypeDef do you need that you can not get from the Variant?
What is it that you need to do inside the sub VI that you could not do with either the Enum string or it's integer Value
I use some extensive Variant processing in my code and I have never needed to reference back to the TypeDef of an Enum
If you are running 64 bit you could use a U64 to unflatten the Enum (But would you ever have 1E19 items in your Enum!)
You can unflatten with any interger (U8, U16 U32 U64 I8 I16 I32 I64) and they will all work as long as it is large enough to hold the highest number you are likly to see. A I8 will only work up to 127 items. But who has more than 127 items in their Enum.
Even type cast an Enum to a Float.
Even with the TypeDef you will not be able type cast or unflatten a variant back to the original Enum
So you have to work with your Enum as either it's Selected Sting or as an I32 (you could use I16 )

Defrag - A hidden gem for laggy phones (HDD models...

You wouldn't believe it but if you notice your phone starting to lag (i am talking to you N95 8GB and N96 owners)
You might find it is simplier to solve then you may imagine.
Simply plug it into your computer in Disk Storage mode and use a defragger i used perfect disk and afterwoods movies and
music played much smoother.
Another tip is to not put apps on memory cards as they take longer to access than the phone memory

That is correct. The N91 and N91 8GB are the only Nokia phones ever to have included an actual HDD. It's an amazing little piece of technology. As solid state memory prices dropped then there was no point in taking the hit with size and mechanical contraints to keep producing HDD based smartphones.
That being said. The DE-FRAG and SCANDISK programs have nothing to do with HDD but all to do with FAT32 formatted memories. The FAT file format creates fragmented files over time. Although it's less likely in Solid State Memories, it does happen.
Check your Mass Memory or FAT32 formatted memory cards with De-Frag and you will see that over time they will become fragmented. Running De-Frag and Scandisk may fix some issues.

Hidden functions

Just noticed that if I press the home button twice in quick succession it automtically takes me to my favourite contact list.
Are there any other hidden gems like this I could use ?

One little 'trick' I like to use is, when I am typing and want to access the number/punctuation keypad, to click *and hold* on the '.?123' and drag my finger across to the character I want. Once on the character, lifting your finger will key in that character and take you back to the alpha keypad.
I hope that makes sense.

Hello all. I really didn't want to have to take my displeasure to this kind of forum, but it seems that there aren't any "contact us" or support area emails. I have been a paying member of my parents friends and family plan for 8 years. I always had phones that were for strictly calls before texting came along. Then I adapted to texting on a phone. Needless to say my prior phone was a GZ Commando. Purchasing a "smartphone" is an investment. Unlike those who can fork out good money on the latest and greatest phones, I don't have such luxury. I coughed up $400+ on a 32 GB IPhone4, and quite a bit more in accessories. I came in a few days later with questions about the phone since I wasn't aware of how it physically works, as far as tips, shortcuts, and what the phone was actually capable of. I had interests of a phone with a battery life that could last a 12 hour period with periodic texting, music and a newspaper app, or maybe some other game. A representative was taking care of me and giving me other options while another representitive tells me that the IPhone isn't really user friendly and didnt recommend it unless I have had a smartphone. While there I asked what would be the most relevant and least likely to be outdated for a while. A conclussion was made, and they had sold me the equally priced Droid Charge and the $35 restock fee to go with it.
Not only does the Charge have a horrible battery life, drop calls, completely lose "data accessibility", freeze, restart and randomly open programs, but it also likes to have a mind of its own and rifle through pages and either call some of my direct contact links or other battery depleting things.
I have taken the phone in on multiple occassions because of one issue or another and was always given one excuse after another as to why random things would happen, most of the time it was my fault, or I dont "reset" the phone enough, and really nothing was answered in terms of why I have no data coverage for days at a time when Buffalo was just "blessed" with 4G LTE, something this phone is capable of, but I have yet to get it working on my phone
I was lied to on pretty much all facets pertaining both kinds of phone ("Droid" and IPhone). The battery life (IPhone is superior), the security of the network (IPhone is superior), connectivity to my home computer (I still am not able to sync my computer to my Charge for some reason), and other issues.
Oh, and my phone was outdated in a week by the Bionic, then the IPhone 4S and recently the Stratosphere.
I have gone in lately with 3 seperate chargers. 1 was a "eco-green" one I spent $30 something dollars on. The other from my purchased phone and the other from a friend. 2 of the 3 are fried with the one coming with my Charge, almost starting a fire. Excuses were made as to why they couldn't be returned, and I was sent on my way once again.
With the way the Better Business Bureau works, and Verizon no longer being number 1 in our "market", the way my money was spent for me, and not by me, is a key reason as to why for many.
Think about it, a family that has been with your company as long as mine has spent tens of thousands of dollars, back to when there was a corded phone in our truck and the Zach Morris phone, prior to Verizon even owning the company. Loyalty is something rarely found in todays time and place, even less so in the grab bag of incentive laiden phone salesmen who will talk parents into spending outrageous money on a tablet device because of their kids pressure and the hidden gem of the salesman getting one for free after selling 5 of them. And yes, I talked to the rep about his "awesome incentives". That's fine and dandy, but when it came to getting some sort of q&a session about ways to handle my problems it always ended up with me shelling out more money, or leaving empty handed.
All I want, simply, is to have a phone that meets my needs, and wont be irrelevant technology wise in the next few months. Selling me a phone that divebombed to half price in a months time and charging me fees after talking me into a different phone is a slap in the face. There has to be someone from Verizon, that can make me not feel ripped off (The price paid for the phone, is what it should be worth for a while, not a vastly depreciated value like purchasing a new car off the lot.) Follow the phone number to the bill and look up the past many years and see what I am talking about

I've attempted to do such, I feel like I call collections agents. Almost to the point that it is very uncomfortable to explain my issues as though I am a knit picky person. That isn't the point. The principle of the matter is not feeling like I had the wool pulled over my eyes. My phone number is accessible via the information I initially filled out. Someone could've contacted me if they took the time to read my issues and had a real, viable way to handle the problem at hand. I wish a Verizon worker would read into my dilemma and attempt to rectify it. I have read that the Charge isn't a bad phone at all. But for what I asked for, and the amount of money I spent, I am kind of at a loss. And btw, who sells a phone with an HDMI jack on the side, but dont include a cord with it? Sounds like going to a parts place to buy headlights only to have some schmuck sell you dielectric grease for your headlights when most people have this stuff at home, trunk or garage just under a different name.

Replacing HD With SSD, Need To Install OS X (Not Clone Old HD) On New SSD

Hello All!!
I am getting a new Samsung 830 series 256GB SSD today which I am going to put in my 2011 (late year) MacBook Pro 15". I would like to put the new SSD in with a fresh installation of OS X (I don't want to clone my old hard drive). Can anyone please outline the steps to do this or put a link to a web page that explains it in nice simple terms?
I have tried searching around but I can't seem to find any page that is helpful. I did find one website that explained how to put the OS X on a USB flash drive. They said to download OS X from the App Store but when I checked it was like $27. I don't want to pay for a newer version of OS X I just want to put a fresh install of the version I already have (10.7.5) on the new SSD.

Believe it or not, a clone of your old boot drive onto a blank powered, Disk Utility formatted GUID / OS X Extended (Journaled )external drive is the safest choice.
This gives you something to boot the computer with in case of trouble with the SSD, when formatting it and reverse cloning everything back on.
I know what you said, you want a clean install of OS X. However in 10.7 and later to install OS X fresh needs the Recovery HD partiton to be booted from, on the boot drive, to download 10.7 from Apple's servers.
So the object here is to clone your old boot drive clone to the formatted SSD of everything, OS X and Recovery Partition (plus any Apple hidden gems), then when that's completed, later boot into Recovery HD and wipe just the Macintosh HD partiton clean and clean install OS X there again.
There is only one software that can do this and it's Carbon Copy Cloner. Superdupes can't clone Recovery HD.
Just use the CCC's default setting to clone one drive to another. Hold the option key down while booting to enter Startup Manager, where you can select which drive you want to boot from.
To first format any blank or soon ot be overwrtitten drive, use Disk Utility to select the entire drive and Partition: Options: GUID and OS X ext. jorun., as the format.
To erase the Macnitosh HD partition, hold command r boot from the SSD to enter Recovery HD and select the Macintosh HD partiton in Disk Utility to erase it. Then quit and floow the instructions to reinstall 10.7 fresh from Apple's servers.

There is no "performance" tab in Preferences

I just watched the new YT video about "hidden gems in lightroom CC" I am keen to try these new features, so I updated to v5.7.1 and I can't see these improvements. There is no "auto" in Catalog Settings\Standard preview size and there is no "performance" tab in Preferences. I'm in Australia, are we getting a different version? Can anyone help?

I'm confused.
I have Photoshop/Lightroom - what I thought was CC - I pay monthly - my understanding is that I get the latest Lightroom and upgrades when they are available. The about in Lightroom has only ever describe it as Lightroom 5.x... Never Lightroom CC. Photoshop is described as Photoshop CC.
Today I was offered an upgrade - Pano/HDR/Performance improvements etc. So I upgraded. It upgraded but is showing Lightroom 5.7 - not 6 not CC. Pano/HDR etc are all there.
So what am I missing? What do I have to do to get version CC/6? I have tried to find where to upgrade to CC/6 on the Adobe web site - but I can't find it.
What is it that I'm not understanding?
I'm running Windows 7 64bit, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 with latest drive from Nvidia site.

Record chat not seen as option in OS X Mavericks Messages when doing video chat

In OS X Mountain Lion when doing a video chat using Messages one can record the video chat. (assuming you have permission by the other party (parties??))
I do not see that option in the "upgraded" OS X Mavericks.
Is the lack of a record video option another "hidden" gem that Apple is providing us by creating "simplicity"?
Or is the feature still somehow accessible thru a more "simple" means other than the way it used to be in OS X Mountain Lion?
So, if Apple has deliberately and secretly removed this feature without telling me do you know of good screen-capture software that I can use as a workaround with regards to this missing feature?

How can I add a two second pause to the beginning of each slide?

Hello,
I have a project with TTS and perfectly aligned CC notes - 64 slides. Now the customer would like for there be a two-second pause before the audio begins on each slide in order to allow the user to first become oriented with the slide. Is there a way I can do this without moving the audio down the timeline two seconds, and then having to adjust the appearance of each of the CC notes accordingly?
I was thinking of something like pause two seconds On Enter -- Is this possible?

Need help in learning XML in the context of ABAP

Experts,
I am wondering if you can help me.
I know abap (up to SAP 4.6c versions) but I know nothing about XML ( I am literally zero on XML). I want to learn XML in the contexts of ABAP programs in SAP Netweaver versions. I tied to google XML tutorials but information is overwhelmingly too much. I do not intend to become an XML expert but want to be able to learn XML only to the level where where I can use them in ABAP programs.
Can you guide me if there is some step by step material / documents/ tutorial on internet which is not too much?

The "get info" function is broken in iTunes 10 (and in iTunes 9.2)

*Steps to reproduce this iTunes BUG:*
_Step 1._
Edit some track info (the id3 tags) in a third party program.
(I'm a DJ, so I'm using Serato Scratch Live http://serato.com/scratchlive to edit most tags)
_Step 2._
Select all tracks in iTunes and press cmd+I to for the "Get Info" dialog.
_Step 3._
Click the "OK" button in the "Multiple Item Information" dialog.
*Expected Result:*
iTunes scans through all the selected tracks and updates any info that has been change in the 3rd party program. (This is default behavior in iTunes 9.1.1 and below)
*Actual Result:*
iTunes will _no longer scan_ the files for updated info, it will only check if the files are still are available on disk.
*Why this is such a big deal:*
I get new music almost every day. All tracks need to go into the DJ software for BPM analyze and organization. Tracks will then be imported into iTunes and added to several smart lists for syncronization to my iPods. After this function was broken there is no longer an easy way to update my smart lists with the new tracks coming in.
_Extra info:_
Settings "*Keep iTunes Media Folder Organized*" & "*Copy files to iTunes Media Folder when adding to Library*" are turned off. I need to manage my media folders manually.

I'm doing quite a lot of work on all of my files regulary. (at least twice a week: fridays before DJ gigs, sundays after, and a probably a few times during the week too.) In short, I go through my tracks in Serato Scratch Live, add the text "3 star" etc, to the comments field (Serato Scratch Live don't read the iTunes star ratings), fix any genre tags (got a pretty extensive systems for those) etc, then rescan in iTunes and add the iTunes star rating as well.
Then there is smart lists in iTunes (based on star ratings, added date, genre etc.) that I sync to my iPods to keep updated on the go. This makes for a VERY efficient system for organizing the top tracks, and weeding out anything I don't want. (i will also do star ratings on the iPod on the go, re-sync to iTunes and add the to the comments field)
If I had to find every track manually in iTunes after doing the "star" comment tag in Serato Scratch Live, it would defeat the purpose. I would never manage to get by. I mean, iTunes only need to check if the file itself has changed since last id-scan, then read any new tag.
Even backup programs like Carbon Copy Cloner can go through 45.000 files in a snap, and only copy the altered ones, so why should it be so hard to rescan tags in iTunes?
To top this off:
I have loads of music ripped to my master archive (about 10.000 album cd's) So I'm always digging for tracks, rediscovering my collection. That's what DJ'ing is about I think, digging for the hidden gems. So yes, I'll never be done tagging all my songs, but at least if the rescan worked like it should, it would make my life "liveable"
After 2 month of neglect Id like to hear anyone from Apple comment on this.

Simple HTML Preview

I am moving to ColdFusion Builder from Dreamweaver and I am having issues with my html preview. I am trying to set up a project and give it the host header/url to use for html preview, but it keeps telling me that I don't have the ColdFusion server defined for my project. I don't really want to go through all that. I just want to tell it what host header to use. Any thoughts? Am I thinking about this wrong?
I have a project, without CFnature, whatever that is, and under properties->HTML Preview I am telling it to use an absolute URL and append the project relative path. When I try to use the browser preview, I get 'No server is configured. . . Configure a server.'
Any insight would be helpful.
PS - I tried searching for an answer for this, but didn't have any luck. If anyone has any tips on that I am open.

Adam notes the ease of setting up the Server configuration for a project. I would like to share some thoughts on why people may not do it, or why they should be prepared for possible problems if they do. (And why the previous "set url prefix" may be the preferred option for someone like robliesland who wanted that alone.)
It's true that adding a server connection is relatively simple to do (though not always), and it does to make CFB sing and dance, like showing datasources when you do CFQUERY NAME=", or when invoking methods of a CFC, and all the other cool things, but to get that you must configure the server connection which does change CFB to do potentially a LOT more work in the background (and at startup, and when opening projects, etc.) so that it gathers all the that cool info.
Some have complained of CFB being slow, and often it's because of this very connection to a server, at least in some situations (with a remote server, or one whose files are remote to you on your network, or where the CF server has a huge repository of CFCs pointed to by all its mappings, custom tag paths, a large webroot, etc.)
When you connect it to a server, you're asking it to provide all the powerful features that make it more than "just an editor" (or "just a knock off of CFEclipse"). But those extra (and powerful and vital) features do come at a cost, which some pay more than others, and is why some have chosen not to create server connections from their projects.
Of course, others don't do it because they either just don't notice they can, or choose not to when crating a project because they don't understand what it would give them (then they complain that it's nothing more than a CFEclipse knock off, and round and round we go.) It can also be a challenge to setup the server connection in some instances, like if the CF server is remote to you, etc.
I will note that as far as understanding the performance impact I allude to above, it can be REALLY helpful to turn on the Progress View (View>Show Other>Progress). At least you can see what's happening, and you may be very surprised. (It also tracks other background operations, like FTP processing if you do that.)
And you can also configure CFB to NOT do a refresh of the info from the "server" in several situations, such as when CFB either starts, or when you open a project, etc. See Preferences>ColdFusion>Server Settings. Whether that makes sense to change is dependent of course on how often your server config changes (new DSNs, new CFCs, etc.) Since CFB can't know what's best, it defaults to checking quite often.

Can't set Transition times. iMove does it's own thing random times.

When I try to enter a transition time between clips it may actually change but not to what I had entered. If it changes at all, it tends to be to a random number. I have the preferances set at 3:00 but even this does nothing, the default remains at 0:05 which is vertually no transition.
Can anyone enlighten me? What am I doing wrong ? Has any else had this problem ?
