BO on top of SAP BI 7.0 - MDDataSetBW.GetCellData

Hi,
We have created a Universe (BO 3.0) on top of a BI 7.0 Query.
We got the below error when we tried to execute the query from Web I:
A database error occured. The database error text is: Error in MDDataSetBW.GetCellData. See RFC trace file or SAP system log for more details. (WIS 10901)
We selected only 2 objects in web I query panel. If we select each objects separately, it works fine.
The data should be around 200K rows.
When we tried to run this in BEX we got the error - "No more storage space available for extending an internal table".
Please let us know if someone solved this issue.

Hi Ingo,
we're facing similiar problems and my basis admin tells me that he already expand the ABAP memory alocation using 70% of the physical memory, also we have Enhancement Package 1 installed, but we're still facing the same error message.
FYI, the BO server uses 8 GB of RAM and 8 core processor, the SAP BW server uses 16 GB of RAM and 8 core processor. We want to analyze 3 years of daily data from highest hierarchi down to the details. We have 3 hierarchies :
1. Sales : sales organization - sales office - distribution channel - customer group - sold to party
2. Material : material group 1 - material group 2 - material group 3 - material
3. Time : year - guarter - month - day
so far we are able to query only 1 week of data using webi and that generates 900+ webi report pages. the total rows of whole data is roughly 12 million rows. any suggestions?

Xcelsius 2008 on top of SAP BPC

Hi Experts,
I am trying to use Xcelsius 2008 on top of SAP BPC.
I want following functionality in my dashboard:
1. There is a drop down in the dashboard for Year-Month selection.
2. Based on that selection, the BPC query to be refreshed for the selected month and my dashboard will show data for the selected month. While integrating with WebI using LiveOffice, we used to do this by binding the prompt to a cell in excel and selecting on demand refresh option. Can we do the similar thing while integrating with BPC ?
3. Can we create multiple BPC reports in the same excel file to build the excel model for my dashboard ?
Can these requirements be achieved by using Xcelsius on top of BPC using EPMConnector.xlx ?

You need to use different operation types of the EPM Connector for this.

Intalling BO front end tools on top of SAP BW (trial version).

Hi All,
I currently work on SAP BI and SAP Enterprise Portal projects. I am looking at installing BO Front end tools on top of SAP BW (just a trial version though).
Does anybody have the links where I can download this software? Also I have played about with Excelsious which appears to be the new version of analyzer. What is the new version of Web Application Designer (Pioneer??) Is it possible to integrate web templates created with BO into the SAP Enterprise portal? Is there any guides which explains how to create simple dashboards with BO front end tools and integarte them into the portal?
I have a found some decent blogs already and am currently attempting to install BO onto my laptop.
Any help appreciated.

Hello Nick,
yes you can implement BO Reports/Dashobard into the Enterprise Portal in some way. Its a bit tricky and here are some usefull guides you may have a look into.

Unable to create Business Layer on top of SAP BW OLAP Connection - BI 4.0

Friends,
Need an useful information, why can't we create a business layer on top of SAP BW OLAP connection which is built with BICS driver.
Today when i tried to create a business layer in IDT tool of BI 4.0 it didnt allow me to do so. Is it a s/w bug or am i following a wrong approach. I do know, we can create a .unx universe through relational connection. But i dont want that, please provide your input.

this question has been asked many times before, so a search will reveal your answer.
as the warning told you when you tried the workflow in IDT - business layers aren't supported for Bics connections - i.e. you can't create a UNX ontop of Bex using BICS..
unfrotunately, it was a strategic product decision that seemingly can't be reversed/influenced, despite the inherent problems this causes.

Chart are not supported in crystal report - on top of SAP R/3

Hi All,
I have made one crystal report on top of SAP R/3 system. I have included some graphs on it.
But when i uploaded that report on infoview portal, it shows blank page when i try to view it on portal. It works fine in Crystal Report 2008.
I have one other report without graphs, it works fine on infoview portal. This reports works fine with "Enterprise" authentication.

- Crystal Report 2008
- Business object Enterprise 3.0
- Authentication: Enterprise
Please help as soon as possible.

Ya.. its strange!! Because when i have created a report without Chart.. it works fine on portal. But when i added a chart in same i get blank page.
And have you make that report on top of SAP R/3 (Or ECC).
Even when i have made report on top of SAP BI with chart.. it works fine on portal.
The issue is just with SAP R/3 (Or ECC).

I would like to know the Best Practices for Creating Universe on top of SAP BW.
1. is it advisable to create Universe on top of SAP BW CUBE directly. in my case , we are starting a fresh BW implementation for one application on SAP BI.7 ; and BOE 3.1
2. if we create a universe on top of BEX Query, what need to be done if want to upgrade to Business Objects 4.0 version.
3. if we create a universe on BEX Query, will SAP is going to support universe on BEX for future releases.
4. what is the support period for BEX and its integration with Business objects.

You can check on the Page 12 in the PDF what supported by Cube and BW Query while designing of a universe.
Best practices says to design universe on top of one generic query for one Cube because CFK,RFK can not generate in the universe on top of BW Cube.

Problem in File dialog Box ,why it is hidden how to get it on top of sap

I am having a similar problem. However, the fileDialog only shows up behind SAP occasionally. I am running each ona separate thread and have tried passing a blank form as the parent (as was suggested), but the problem persists.

How to deactivate the "left top corner SAP menu" for a particular screen

Hello Friends..
We have a requirement to implement a "Non Disclosure Agreement(NDA)" for one of our SAP systems. NDA screen will have 2 buttons, "I agree" and "I disagree" which pops up when you log in to the system(after filling up our user id and password and hit enter). If we click on "I agree", it will allow you to continue with the log in and takes you to sap easy access screen. If we click on "I disagree", then session will be terminated.
But, the NDA window which is being popped up is also a SAP screen which has SAP menu on top left corner. Without clicking on "I agree" or "I disagree" and if we try to select "Create session" option in SAP menu on top left corner, then it is taking us inside SAP(sap easy access screen) by bypassing the buttons.
Request your help on how to deactivate the "left top corner SAP menu" for this particular NDA screen. (SAP menu to be available with other screens and it should not be available just for the window which is being popped up after log in and before SAP easy access)

Hi Vinay,
Try this if it works -
in your first screen for the NDA screen, on the memnu bar select - EXTRAS - SETTINGS - Select the check box 'Do not display menu, only display favourites'.
on calling the next screen , disable this option in the PBO of the screen.

a good page to review and bookmark is http://oracle.com/systemrequirements (but it doesn't talk about JavaScript).
You will need JavaScript for the ADF-based web user interface, but you don't need ActiveX. Flash Player is needed for the DVT (data visualization) components. Your browser also needs to accept cookies.
I am not an expert in HCM, so I don't know if they have functionality that has additional requirements. A typical example would be ADF Desktop Integration functionality -- if you need that for your product usage, you'd typically need Microsoft Office apps.

Create new dimension on top of SAP BW data

Hi expert,
I'm having a problem to create a new dimension on top on SAP BW data. I have a dimension details object called 'L01 G/L Account Key'. When I drag this object to the result object in the web intelligence, it display full data like '1000/30100'. How can I trim the data so it shows '30100'?.Is there any formula that support in universe?
I don't want to do the formula inside the web intelligence report because I want to use this dimension to other reports as well.
Please expert....help me!

Hi,
SAP BW MDX does not support calculations that return string or date: this is a limitation of SAP BW OLAP engine.
By the way I found exceptions that satisfy your requirement.
For instance you can manipulate a substring of a dimension only with NAME and UNIQUENAME attributes.
Example, you can use these expressions:
<EXPRESSION>right([OD_COUNTRY].currentmember.name, 4)</EXPRESSION>
<EXPRESSION>right([OD_COUNTRY].currentmember.uniquename, 4)</EXPRESSION>

Problem with automatic creation of Universes on top of SAP BW - RKF

Hello
When I create Universes on top of SAP BW Querys everythings works fine, except for the Restricted Key Figures. The RKFs are created with the GUID code and not with the Description configured in the Query. I tried making the Key Figure Local and Global in the query without success. Does anyone know what's happening?
I'm using BO XI 3.1 SP2 with SAP BW 7.0.

I created universes based on a BW Query in the following situations:
    User specified username and password:   language = PT - Dimension's name OK, RKF are GUID
    User specified username and password:   language = EN - Dimension's name OK, RFK are GUID
    SSO: langue = PT or EN - Dimensions name are Ok and in English - RFK are GUID
I edited prefences of CMC to Portuguese. The same results.
The problem with the RKF still exists.
Is there some way resolve this problem?

SAP Business Objects Explorer on top of SAP BW

My Requirement:
- Use BO Explorer on top of SAP BW ( no HANA, no BIA ). This is to provide the users a set of related data and they can analyse the way they want.
Question-1:
- What should be the BW data volume that I should keep in mind for BO Explorer to have good performance. My concern is primarily because we don't use BIA or HANA.
Question-2:
- Can BO Explorer directly connect to a BW Infocube/Multiprovider or it has to connect only through Universes

I will suggest you Go for SAP Business Objects Analysis, edition for Microsoft Office,ity can connect bex query directly & Bw/Infocubes also.
Regarding Performance we can do In BI Itself depends on Business needs,: modelling , extraction, reporting 3 levels in BI .

Error in MDDataSetBW.GetCellData for WebI report on SAP BW

Hello All,
I am getting below error when running a WebI report (BOBJ XI SP3) on top of a universe built on a SAP BW BEx Query (SAP BW 7.01 Level 0007).
"A database error occured. The database error text is: Error in MDDataSetBW.GetCellData. Please enter a valid value for characteristic ZPRODCODE.. (WIS 10901)"
I observed that
1. Error is coming only with more number of restrictions in selection criteria.Without those selections ( as they are optional prompts ) data is coming properly with all 950 records. So as mentioned in old threads huge data is not an issue here
2. Error is coming only when data is not available in cube for the given selection criteria after taking long time.
Any idea why error is coming instead of report throwing No Data to retreive.
