BO XI 3.1 service pack 5 and BO DS 4.0

Dear All,
I am looking for suggession and feasibility following option. My customer has decided to go with Business Objects XI 3.1 SP5 and Business Object Data services 4.0. (OS AIX 6.1) Could you please anwswer some one the following calrification. Customer currently using BO XI R2 SP3 and BO DI 11.7.3, UNIX OS same machine. Customer going for a new hardware IBM AIX 6.1. Why customer is going for BO XI 3.1 is because all there 200 reports are in DESKI. They will slowly migrate to webi and then go for BO XI 4.0 in two years time.
1. Do we can Install BO XI 3.1 SP5 and BO DS 4.0 on a single machine AIX 6.1 ?.
2. If the answer is Yes, shoul I go and install in two mount points? Then I need to install WAS Tomcat for BO XI 3.1 and WAS Tomcat for BO DS 4.0. with different port number?
3. I understand that to Install BO DS 4.0 required either BO XI 4.0 CMC or BO information Platform services. Since I am not installing BO XI 4.0
I need to go with platform services. If so do we need a licence for Platform services seperately.?
4. Do any of you guys help getting more information on migrating jobs workflows, users etc from BODI 11.7.3 to BO DS 4.0?. If my option 1 is possible once I install BO DS 4.0 what are the steps to migrate the objects and users.
I am looking for a soonest reply. Thanks in advance

Hi
1. Yes you can. You should make sure that the system has enough resources so that BO and DI are not blocking each other (sizing)
2. I would separate the installation by choosing two different users. NFS mounts have proven a bit unstable and can cause problems if they are down.
3. You need to check with your account manager
4. Please post in the DI forum
Please note that the forum etiquette does prohibit urgent requests. The forum is a place to get information or opinions, if you need urgent request please use the appropriate SAP channels e.g. Field Services

  • 2008 Engage Server Service packs and Fix Packs

I have Engage Server.  I tried to load SP 3 and it didn't let me open old files.  SAP told me SP3 was not compatible with Server product.  I had to roll back to base version 5.0.0.99 build 12,0,0,121.  Does anybody know if I can at least load SP1 or SP2 (and/or Fix packs) so I can have some of the basic features?

There is no publicly available Version matrix + fixed issues list.
However, you can do to Service Market Place > Downloads locate XIR2 section and see how many Service Packs and Fix Packs are available.
Latest Service Pack for XIR2 is 6
latest Fix Pack for XIR2 is FP6.4 (needs to be installed on top of SP6)
To the right of each SP/FP in the download section of SMP is a link called "Info" , it leads to Knowledge articles which contain list of fixed issues.
As all SP/FP's are cumulative, you can view Sp6 readme and Fp6.4readme to get overall picture of fixed issues.

  • Install the latest Service Pack and Cumulative Update

    Hi Expert,
I am installing SAP on SQL SERVER 2008 R2. The database software installation is done, but as per
installation guide it is recommending to install "Service Pack and Cumulative Update" as SAP Notes 62988
Please suggest me if i donot install service pack then will it impact our installation?
    Please relply ASAP.

Its always recommanded to have your database at patch level and cummulative update supported by SAP.
If you don't perform now then you have to take again downtime to perform this activity.

  • SAP List of Supported SQL Server Service Packs and Cumulative Updates

Does SAP provide a list of SQL Server Service Packs and Cumulative Updates that will work with BPC 7.0 and 7.5? I see that CU 12 is out for SP1 and CU 2 is out for SP2. I would like to know if I can move the SP2 CU2 or SP1 CU12. My install docs are outdated specifying SP1 CU6.
    Any direction is appreciated.
    Joe

    Hi,
Please take a look at the below list of the supported OS: This excerpt is from the installation guide.
SP04 or later: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard or Enterprise Edition with or without Hyper-V
Windows Server 2008 Standard or Enterprise Edition with or without Hyper-V, or
Windows Server 2008 Data Center with or without Hyper-V
Windows Server 2003 Standard or Enterprise Edition SP2
Windows Server 2003 Standard configured on the SQL database or OLAP server components only
Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard or Enterprise Edition SP2
SAP recommends using Windows Server 2008 64 bit over Windows Server 2003 64 bit. Otherwise, supportability is limited.
I am not sure what did you mean by the front end. Having said that, 32 bit is supported both on the server and the client machines.
    Hope this helps.

Zen 3.2 snap shot to force out windows 2000 service packs and critical

has anyone used MSI to do the installations of services packs.

All Hotfixes and SPs have switches on the EXEs to allow for silent

This is the recommended method of deploying these.

    1. A service pack (in short SP) is a collection of updates, fixes and/or enhancements to a software program delivered in the form of a single installable package. Service packs are usually numbered, and thus shortly referred to as SP1, SP2, etc. It is notable that they may bring, besides bug fixes, entirely new features.

What is the difference between Service Pack(SP) AND Patch ??
    e.g SP12, Patch8.
Is it like that when there is a major change they will issue SP and
for a small change they will issue patch ?? or after number of patches
they will issue SP combining all the patches ??
Service Pack level can be seen from SAP gui system..>status.
But Patch level where can we see ?? what is the Tcode for that ?? or just we got

A patch (sometimes called a "fix") is a quick-repair job for a piece of programming. During a software product's beta test distribution or try-out period and later after the product is formally released, problems (called bug) will almost invariably be found. A patch is the immediate solution that is provided to users; it can sometimes be downloaded from the software maker's Web site. The patch is not necessarily the best solution for the problem and the product developers often find a better solution to provide when they package the product for its next release.

  • ISE Posture Condition for Windows Service Pack and Remediation

    Hi,
We having ISE ver 1.1.1 and currently on PoC. I have the following points to be clarified for Posture and Remediation.
    1) How to configure a condition to check Windows Service pack (may be more than 1 Windows favor such as XP, Win 7 and Win 8) and how to remediate in case client is not complying with Windows requirement.
    2) I configure AV condition and looks its working fine, however I still couldnt find the place to how to remediate in case client is not having proper verion and AV definition on his PC.
    3) We have a Authorization profile configured with dACL"Posture Remediation" where we allowing AV server update url and also matching ACL configured on switch "Posture Redirect", wants to know the exact purpose on these two ACLs.
    4) where can we see the logs of none-complaints logs and find out the reason for non-complaints
appreciate if someone can please give us a proper document to achive the above task or send me any working senario configuration steps.
    thanks in advance.

    1. Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)  remediation remediates Windows clients from a locally managed WSUS server, or  Microsoft-managed WSUS server with the latest Windows service packs, hotfixes,  and patches (WSUS updates) for compliance. You can create a WSUS remediation  where a NAC Agent integrates with the local WSUS Agent to check whether the  endpoint is up-to-date for WSUS updates. You can also duplicate, edit or delete  WSUS remediations from the remediations list.
You can configure Windows clients to  receive the latest WSUS updates from a Microsoft-managed WSUS server, or locally  administered WSUS server for compliance.
The Windows server update services (WSUS)  remediations list page displays all the WSUS remediations along with their  names, description, and as well as their modes of  remediation

  • ACROBAT 9 Service packs and Context Menu hidden features

    Hello.
My name is Sergio Bonfiglio. Some years ago I bought a CS4 WEB Premium suite with Acrobat 9 included.
While I'm Italian, I decided to buy an English version of the suite (I'm bi-lingual) for compatibility problems with tutorials and so on.
Recently I had to re-install the suite because of a RAID problem, onto a my newly re-formatted PC.
I did it successfully, but I'm experiencing some problems.
    1. It seems impossible to install the standard Acrobat 9 service packs. They simply refuse to install. Acrobat 9 included in my CS4 is heavily bugged. The OCR recognition always crashes after few pages of work.
    2. Some voices in the Explorer right-click menus are blinded, there is no caption (text) appearing. The lines are blank, while if I click on these "empty" voices, some Acrobat features do start, like the aggregation of multiple PDFs and so on.
Because part of my job is the transcription of documents - especially rare books - I badly need the OCR function working well.
Please help me to resolve these problems.
It is awful to have some "blnided" voices in the right-click menu, and it is severe problem not getting the OCR text of a document.
    I'm using Windows 7 PRO.
    Thanks for any help.

The simple answer is that your Acrobat was never installed properly for whatever reason. Run the cleaner, reinstall:

  • XI, Service Packs and Visual Studio 2008

    Hi
Sorry if these questions have already been answered but I have tried to search and get the answers myself with lots of link following and frustration.
We are developing a Windows forms application using Visual Studio 2008.
We need a good solid report tool for both designing and viewing reports based on SQL data.
Due to past exposure to Crystal, we have decided to use a Developer Edition of Crystal Reports XI we have had for a long time (think it was a promotional offering when XI was first released).
    The Help-About version is 11.0.0.1282
I have a couple of questions:
    1. What service packs can I apply to this build ? Looking on the download section of this web site, there are no updates available for XI (there are plenty for XI R1 and XI R2). Can I apply the R1/R2 updates to this build, if not can I upgrade to any of these builds ?
    2. I have noticed that even when installed after VS2008, the Crystal Version of the Viewer is still 10.5.0.0
I can created reports in XI and use them with this viewer but can I get a XI build of the viewer and other .NET objects. If not what are the options (apart from upgrading to 2008, this is price restrictive).
If there are already answers or knowledge-base articles containing the answers to these questions please just post the links, if not then some help would be appreciated as this whole thing is really confusing and I really don't want to go back to trying to use the Microsoft Reports package shipping with VS2008.
    Many thanks

    HI,
    First of all:
If you are planning to use VS2008 then you need to use CR 2008 SP0 or above to make it compatible.
    1. What service packs can I apply to this build ? Looking on the download section of this web site, there are no updates available for XI (there are plenty for XI R1 and XI R2). Can I apply the R1/R2 updates to this build, if not can I upgrade to any of these builds ?
Officially CRXI has reached the end of life cycle.
Upgrade from CRXI R1 to R2 is free. You need to download the CRXIR2 sp2 setup and install the complete product alogn with SP2 using the CRXIR1 keycode.
As stated you need to either use CR that comes with VS2008 or use CR2008 with SP0 or above. That is why you are unable to see the upgraded viewer. The other options would be to use VS2003 with CRXI and above or use VS2005 and CRXIR2 sp2 and above.
