BO XI3.1 dashboard vs SAP BI 4. BI workplace

Hello all,
Is there a way to migration BO XI 3.1 Dashboard ( NOT Xcelsius) to SAP BI 4. Workplace?
Or did we have to plan to BI Workplace rebuilds.

Do you know or some one know, how to create at report for Audit purpose of BO 3.1 Universes's Connection, Database type, Network Layer and so on... I want to pull all info in to Webi report which are you seeing in the pictures.

BusinessObjects XI3.1 SP4 with SAP BW 7.01 SP9

Hello all!
I have the universe which is build on Bex query. When I create a WebI report in Rich Client some values are not coming. I checked the universe, the objects are mapped to the correct BW objects, checked the data in BW cube, data exist.
In topic BusinessObjects XI3.1 SP2 with SAP BW 7.01 Nargisse resolved this issue, when he applied notes. But in those notes SAP recommend to aplly SP7, although we have SAP BW 7.01 SP9.
Did anyone have the same issue?

Before weekend when I used ALL dimensions in query (in WebI) the results have been not predicatable (For example, for one dimension query return 10 rows, for 3 dimensions - 1 row, but must return 30)
BUT! After a weekend, I have results! I don't know what happened And if I use key column in dimension (in query), I don't get results.

Open Dashboards from SAP

Hi together,
I've a new SAP BO Dashboards 4.1 installation on my laptop.
Now I can't open dashboards from SAP:
MENU -> SAP -> OPEN
At this point I get the message: "Open from SAP not possible" (Sorry, this is my translation...)
I don't get the SAPlogon-Pad, but the Logon-Pad is installed and placed in the right folder..., I can open any other SAP-system connection without problems....
Any ideas ?

Do you have any dashboards published to SAP portal.
Try to create a sample dashboard on SAP Netweaver connection and publish it to SAP Portal.
Later try to open.
If nothing works under SAP menu, reinstall the SAP GUI.

As for Portals, You can publish pages created in WAD as I-Views in the portal. If you need assitance on Portal issues refer to the Portal forum or help.sap.com.

I have some queries on the step by step which u have provided me,
1) Create all BEx Queries with required variants,tune them perfectly.
You mean to say that i have create a queries 1st? With required variants means i dint get u?
(2) Differentiate table queries and graph queries.
What is the diff b/n table queries and graph queries.?
(3) Choose the graph type required that meet your requirement.
Required graph i should select it from WAD?
(4) Draw the layout how the Dashboard page looks like.
How to and where to draw the layout ?
(5) Create a web template that has navigational block / selection information.
(6) Keep navigational block fields are common across the measures.
(7) Include the relevant web items into web template.
Pls explain me this
(8) Deploy the URL/Iview to users through portal/intranet.
This i can do it.

Xcelsius Dashboard on SAP R/3 Table using BSP and XML Mapping

Hi Experts,
I have developed a simple dashboard on small data set (10 records) that I am fetching from a R/3 Table into BSP and generating XML from there and consuming it in Xcelsius (SAP R/3 + BSP + XML Mapping).
Now I want to fetch data based on Variables values that should be passed from the dashboard at the runtime and should display the data accordingly. Any help on how it can be achieved?

Hi,
You could try doing this by using XML data connection. You would have to make use of Enable load to get the data from XML and Enable send to send data back to XML from dashboard.
This would require you to write a script.

Performance Issue in Dashboard using SAP BW NetWeaver Connection

HI Experts ,
We developed Dashboard which is based on BW Queries, However it is taking considerable amount time while executing.
We are using BO Dashboard SP2 version ,BO 4.1 and BI system 7.01 .
We are looking for few clarifications on SAP BO Xcelsius Dashboards.
Though we know limitations on component number and data volumes which could badly affect performance of the dashboard, We do have a requirement to handle huge data volumes and multiple components. Our source data lies in SAP BI system and we are using BICS connectivity/ Webi with QAAWS for updating data in BO dashboard .
Our requirement is too complex where we should be in a position to meet user expectations for complete view 75 KPI’s in a single Dashboard.
We have scenarios like YTD ,QTD and MTD other complex calculations in Bex Query.
Here are my questions,
Is there any way to provide complete functionality using large data sets to the users with the current architecture without any performance issues?
Are there any third party tools which can be used with BO Dashboard for the performance improvement and handling huge volumes?
Do you suggest any alternate solution for complete functionality?

Thank you so much for your response.
I have tried the way you suggested. But here my issue is , I have a prompt in my webi report based on months selection and it is a single valued prompt.
so I was able to schedule my report only for one month;whereas my dashboard needs to show values for one year data based on the months the user will select in the dashboard.
Though i use the WebI instance data in the dashboard , i getting only one month value, also I am not able to associate the selected month for the WebI instance in dashboard.
Is there any option to schedule webI report for different months and the dashboard has to pick the 12 months instance and the combo box selection in the dashboard must associate with it??
Please help me with your thoughts.

Delay in opening of a Dashboard in SAP B1

Hi experts,
we have developed a dashboard in Xcelsius, then through cockpit we transport it into SAP business one environment but we are facing the following issue.
for instance if we run the Dashboard in Xcelsius with live data it take around let say 30 sec to load
but when the same dashboard run in the SAP B1 environment it takes around 4-5 minutes.
Kindly advice what to do in order to cut short the time of execution of the dashboard

Test the case in the same machine, and try to use a stored procedure for the complete query to enhance the performance.

we have requirement to show BOBJ info view corporate dahsboard (three tabs) via SAP netveawer portal.

however - I get an error:

Integration of BOBJ Design Studio dashboard via SAP EP

My client is currently piloting the implementation of a BusinessObjects Design Studio dashboard. For maximum flexibility, the Add-on for BI Platform (BIP) has been installed, and we are able to successfully execute the dashboard from the BOBJ LauchPad. Dashboard presents query results from BW.
However, the client now wants to deploy this dashboard to their SAP Enterprise Portal environment. They want the user to be able to access/execute the dashboard from within EP. This is where we have faced several obstacles. Initially, we received a blank screen upon dashboard execution, but this was recently resolved by installing the proper iview template for the BOBJ Design Studio analysis application. (OSS Note 1672422)
Now, when we execute the dashboard via EP, the system presents the BOBJ "hourglass/rainbow circle", but does not complete. I checked the Process Overview in the BW system, and there is no activity taking place during this time.
We are currently at the following release levels:
BW 7.3
Portal 7.4
BOBJ Design Studio 1.4
I would like to hear from someone who has successfully implemented this scenario (Design Studio dashboard, with BIP Add-on, being accessed via SAP EP).
Since we installed the DS Add-On for BIP, or course, we didn't install the DS Add-on for SAP NetWeaver. Do we need to install the NetWeaver Add-on if we want to deploy the dashboards via Portal (even though they are managed/transported within the BI Plaform)?
Any thoughts?

Just wanted to give you an update on our issue. As you suggested, I created a new Design Studio application, containing only a text box. This application was successfully rendered within the Portal.
Afterward, I started experimenting with other dashboard components, including a crosstab object that was linked to a BW query as a Design Studio datasource. The crosstab was also successfully rendered within the Portal.
I then added a chart to this application and re-executed. While the text box and cross tab were visible, the chart was missing.
After researching further, someone mentioned Google Chrome, so I downloaded it and executed the test dashboard containing text box, crosstab, and chart. It rendered successfully in Portal (via Chrome)!!
Afterward, I then executed my initial dashboard application via Chrome, and it also rendered successfully!
I had previously read several posts regarding IE compatibility with Design Studio, but I was always able to use IE to successfully render Design Studio applications via BOBJ LaunchPad. Therefore, I didn't think I had an issues with DS and IE. However, for us, the issue seems to be between DS, EP, and IE.
Now, we have to deal with an organizational issue of web browsers, but that's a separate challenge.

Since FP2.5 (XI3.1) Dashboards don't work.

Since installing FP2.5 on our Dev server dashboards don't work. I have created PMUser and set it in the InitConfig.properties in Program Files\Business Objects\Dashboard and Analytics 12.0 but when we try to start it or try to set the password in preferences we get the following error:-
Servlet Engine Exception: Cannot read \InitConfig.properties
Something else I have noticed is that we also have a Program Files\Business Objects\Performance Management 12.0 which is empty. Is this normal or is there another issue here??
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I actually resolved the issue. The problem was that there was no af.configdir parameter set in %HOME%\Tomcat\webapps\PerformanceManagement\WEB-INF\web.xml
Please check your files and add your path. For example:
[context-param]
[param-name]af.configdir[/param-name]
[param-value]c:\local_path_for_Tomcat\[/param-value]
Then you just restart Tomcat.

SAP BEST PRACTISE BI-Purchasing Volume Dashboard issue

I am working on Purchasing Volume Dashboard (from SAP BEST PRACTISE BI package), I adapted Crystal Reports sources of this dashboard so that they connect to our local database and successfully generated the Export.xls, I Imported this Export.xls file into Purchasing Volume Dashboard.xls, added and configured Live Office Connections (ticking"Refresh before components are loaded" for each Live Connections.
The issue is that when I click on PREVIEW the four components (Charts and Scorecard) don't refresh simultaneously.
I have to click once on REFRESH button to have the first component refreshed with data then to click again to have the second component refreshed then click again and again !
I don't understand why those components don't refresh in the same time !!
Did one of you ever encountered this issue ?

Hi,
Make sure your web service URL correct in Live Office connection and also in Xcelsius data manager.
Did you check all connection in refresh button proprties? you may try selecting "Refresh after component are Loaded" in Refresh button properties Behavior tab.
I think Xcelsius refresh are serial refresh so it may be possible that first component refresh is still in progress but you are expecting other component to refresh.
Click on "Enable Load Cursor" in data manager's Usage tab, it will give you visibility of refresh. If anything refreshing you will see hour glass.

Is this related to only standard dashboard template then you can find those template in file menu --> samples or --> template. I hope you could have done basic groundwork on this.
