BO4 - Corrupt CMS database - central managemnet server part

Hi,
We had following situation.
CMS.exe would stop after 30 seconds so have created a new SIA node with default servers on same BO server to point to new blank schema on existing CMS database.  This has created the various tables in a CMS and has a CMS server running on port 7400.
This proves communication between machines, database and software fine form central managemnet server perspective.
CMS.exe now up and running on this but the connection servers continually saying Initialzing.
Any idea why?
Ideally would like to use backup CMS database but problem is that when we change the data source on new SIA node to point to this backup cms.exe won't run for more than 30 seconds.
Any ideas/thoughts/resaons much appreciated.
Many Thanks

Found reason
Number of auditing evenets in queue > 500.
What causes this?
How can we change this - haev auditingh switched on - why so many events in queue.

  • How to install CMS database on Sql Server

    Hi
Now I am installing Crystal Reports Server 2008, current environment is windows server 2003 + Sql Server 2005.
During the installing, because I want to use Sql Server 2005, so I picked "use a existing database server", however when I get into "select existing cms database" step, and selected "Sql Server(ODBC)" there is nothing show on the ODBC(DSN) list, I have already create a new ODBC on Data Sources(ODBC),  when I click "browse" I can not find any data source, so that is mean I have to install a new mysql database in my server, but I don't want to, I just want to use the Sql Server, could you tell me why or how to do it?
    Thanks in advance.

If you select SQL Server as your CMS database make sure that the datasource you created is a Machine DSN and not a User DSN.  Make sure that you have created a blank SQL Server database and have your Machine DSN point to it.
    I hope that helps

  • Moving CMS database from one server to another

    Using the following:
    Crystal Enterprise 10, installed on W2K3 Server R2 (not making any changes to this server);
CMS database, installed on W2K Server, SQL Server 2000, SP3
New database server: W2K3 Server R2, SQL Server 2005, SP2
I found what I think are the steps to moving the database from one place to another in the CE10 Administrator's guide (pages 291-300, but I want to make sure there aren't any "gotchas" when moving the database location and/or upgrading the database version.  I'm primarily a DBA, so I already know about the Schema security change going from SQL 2000 to SQL 2005.
In a nutshell, here's my plan:
    1. Take fresh backup of the existing CMS database
    2. Stop Crystal Management Server
    3. Click "Specify CMS Data Source" on the toolbar.
    4. ETC--following the steps in the admin guide
If anyone has done this and has run into any problems (what I'm expecting) or had it go smoothly (I would be surprised), please let me know what to expect.
    Thanks!

All you really need to do is stop the crystal services.
Backup the CMS and Auditing database
Detach the CMS and Auditing database
Copy CMS and Auditing databases to new DB server
Attach the CMS and Auditing databases
    Set the compatibility mode
On the servers/s that host the CMS service, modify the ODBC connections to point to the new database server
Start the CMS service, fire up the Crystal services.
One thing to note, I don't think SQL 2005 is a supported platform for CE10 - this doesn't mean it won't work and since the support lifecycle for the product is long gone it doesn't really make much difference however you may want to run some thorough testing prior to the move.

  • How to delete an old SIA node from the CMS database?

    Hello Everyone,
I had installed XI 3.1 SP3 on RHEL server with CMS database in Oracle. I added an additional SIA node in the same CMS database using "Add Server Intelligence" option in "serverconfig.sh" script. Since I didnot delete the old one before adding a new one, now even though the services run with the new node but the old SIA node with its own central management server is also present. I know this because when I do "./ccm.sh -start all", it starts the old SIA too. So I have to shut down the old sia every time. This has become a sort of nuisance and I wanted to delete the old SIA node. However when I use "serverconfig.sh" script to delete it, it says cannot find the server with that SIA node.
Looks like the old SIA nod is still registered in the CMS database but the server config.sh cannot find it. How can I get rid or the old SIA gracefully.
    Please help.
    Regards.

    Thanks Danis one more time.
Yes, I know the name of the SIA. Good to know that creating an additional SIA with the same name and deleting it would do the trick. However, since the old SIA with the same name is still hanging around there, will it allow me to create an new one with the same name?
Also, I have seen almost always adding a new SIA renders the existing ones non-usable and non-deletable (without using the work around). My reservation at this point is that, won't just adding an additional SIA though with an old name make the existing SIA running all the services unusable?
I apologize for all the questions. Since it is the production environment I will be working on, I have very little luxury of first trying it out and asking the questions. We just want all the points covered before proceeding.
I would very much appreciate your inputs.
    Thank you.

  • Repair corrupt mailbox database

I have a standalone Exchange 2010 server (virtual server in vmware) with a corrupt mailbox database.  The server (VMDK file) resides in a vmware HA cluster fiber connected to a SAN.  The SAN experienced a hard drive failure (RAID 5 volume which
contained Exchange server).  Replaced the hard drive and the volume rebuilt without error.  However,
after the rebuild the Mailbox database started blowing errors about being corrupt.  I ran a chkdsk /f /r on both the C: and D: drives.  C: drive was clean.  Chkdsk on D: reported that
Windows replaced bad clusters in the file mbdata1.edb (mailbox database) file.
I can see the following errors:
    ESE Event 474, 2007
    ExchangeStoreDB Event 203, 233
    Storage Group Consistency Check Event 254, 306, 401, 403 and 405
    MSExchangeIS Event 9782
I ran an integrity check (ESEUTIL /g) which completed with errors:
    Integrity check completed.
Database is CORRUPTED, the last full backup of this database was on 12/17/2011 08:44:37
Operation terminated with error -1206 (JET_errDatabaseCorrupted, Non database file or corrupted db) after 631.407 seconds.
I am finding [what seems to me to be] conflicting information on how to proceed.  It seems that I can attempt repair of the DB (using eseutil and isinteg) and risk possible additional damage to the file or create a new mailbox database and move
the mailboxes to the new database.
Looking for advice on how to proceed.

Good suggestions from Simon and a few additional points
    1. Before doing any of the following I would ensure I made a complete backup of the appropriate files  i.e. the EDB as well as the VMDK to ensure you have the possibility to do a rollback if needed.
    2. Since this is a VMware system I would suggest to you verify the VMDK is without issue and there are different methods for this dependent upon the version of VMware that you are running.  Just do a search in Google for something like "how to verify
    a VMDK file"
    3. ISinteg is no longer around in Exchange 2010 so the most you can do is to run eseutil  to attempt to repair the EDB and if that did work you would need to do a move mailbox which has integrity checking built in as part of the move process
    4. That said IF the database is still online and accessible I would suggest that you;
    A: Create a NEW/FRESH VMDK
B:  Then create a new DB on the NEW/FRESH VMDK
C: Start moving mailboxes from the old EDB into the new EDB. NOTE: You may want to temporarily enable circular logging during the move process to avoid log build up and then turn it off post process and get a new backup.
D: If you encounter errors in moving any mailboxes I would go on to the next and move all of them that you can and then come back and address     the problem mailboxes.
E: if they all move then you can kill off the old EDB.
F: of course you will also want to modify your backup process to protect the new EDB
    The other option as Simon pointed out would be to;
A: Take the DB offline and copy it off to a safe place
B: Recover from your last known good backup
C: Then take that copy of the database that you have, make a new copy and use the MS Recovery DB process
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876954.aspx or a 3rd party product like Lucid8's DigiScope
http://www.lucid8.com/product/digiscope.asp to open the old damaged offline database so that you can merge the delta data into the restored database in the Production Exchange Server.

  • How to move CR 2008 CMS database to a different SQL Server

I am trying to figure out how best to do this..all of the help articles discuss moving from XI to server 2008.. I already have 2008 running with a CMS database.. but I need to move the database to a new SQL box.  I have looked at the import wizard and the database migration, but wasn't sure those were the right tools.
If anyone has done this... would appreciate some help.  If it is as simple as changing the DSN on CR Server.. already hanging my head in shame..
To clarify.. I know how to restored the SQL database on the new server.. unclear how to make CR Server aware of the change

    Hi,
As i understand you want to change the cms database.
You can do this by going to
CCM>Select SIA>Stop SIA>Properties>Configuration>click the specify tab next toCMS System database configuration>update data sourse settings.
From there you can create a database using any connection.
let me know if this was helpfull.

  • SQL Server Error when tryingt to install the CMS DB on SQL Server 2005 x64

I am trying to install BOEXI R3 on w2k3 64-bit OS in a SQL Server 2005 x64 database, I am currently at the installation step where i Specify an exisiting CMS database. I created a System DSN and tested it, and it was successful. So when I got to the screen where I select my datasource I had to check use trusted connection because the datasource would not show up when Use DSN created by WOW64 option was checked. From there I could select the database I created. Oh yeah, I also made the application server local system account part of my DB admins group so it has full access to the database yet when I click next to connect I get a CMS Database Error: STU000226. here is what I have in my log:

How do I get past this?

The workaround was, I installed the SQL Server Client tools and created a System DataSource  and then had to create a user DataSource  (it is a quirk in the installer I guess) to get past this point in the installation. Now I have an even bigger problem. Everything but the CMS installed and the installer hung at the "Configuring the CMS" part. The installation finished but when I tried to log into the Central managment console I got this error:
Error: Server GSD-RRPT-RDC:6400 not found or server may be down (FWM 01003) null
I looked at the forums for the cause of this error and came to the conclusion that BOEXI does not support an installation on SQL Server 2005 when using Integrated Authentication to the SQL Server. See the engineers here disabled SQL Authentication for the SQL Server and  will not allow it.
Is this true? Or is there a workaround to install the CMS using Integrated Authentication in the DataSource ?
    Thanks.

  • Cannot log onto MySQL CMS Database after network installation

I've just installed Crystal Server XI R2 on a brand new server running MySQL 5.0.45 but when the installation completes it says it can't log on to the CMS database.  It's created the empty database and I have the db.opt file in there but nothing else - no tables or anything.   I've re-run the installation and done a repair and Modify but with no change.  The CMS user has full rights to the MySQL instance for now, so it shouldn't have been an issue.  Is there a SQL script available I can run to build the initial db manually?  Do I need to uninstall and go through it all again?  took over 2 hours across the network and the server is in another part of the country.

    Hi Matthew,
I'm not sure why you cannot access your mysql DB but you do not have to reinstall.
Launch the CCM(central configuration manager) If the CMS is not stopped then stop it.
double-click on the CMS choose configuration, choose specify, choose recreate the current data source.
This will reinitialize the CMS DB if the account configured has the proper permissions. It should be a DB owner

  • XI 3.0 Installation Problem: no central managment server running

Hi, I am totally new to BO our company just purchased the application and I have installed XI 3.0 on one of our server. I have setup the DB and the installation finished successfully. However I can't find CMS anywhere on the server. It seems like all the other XI 3.0 components are there Business view manager, central configuration manager, etc. they are all in the program list.
The only thing I didn't install is Tomcat. In Central configuration Manager ther Server Intelligence Agent is running. When I try to connect to the server in Business view Manager I receive the following error "The system servername cannot be contacted, but there is no Central Managment Server running at port 6400."
During the installation for "Web Application Server" part I checked the "other" option since I want to use IIS. I have a feeling I need to do some type of post configuration for IIS? Where do I perform this?
    Our setup is:
Window Server 2003 SP2 with all the latest window updates
The latest XI 3.0 (I downloaded it from the product page)
    My questions are:
    1. Does XI work with IIS at  all?
    2. Do I need to install Tomcat and run some kind of connector to have IIS work?
    3. What am I missing for my XI 3.0 it seem the core component is missing (CS)?
Edited by: Amy Williams on Sep 24, 2008 11:18 AM
Moved from Xcelsius forum to BOE Administration

    Hi Allan,
In answer to your questions - XI 3.0 does not have an IIS interface right now.  You will need to install a java application components in order to access the end user interface for viewing reports (InfoView), the report viewers, the web services and SDKs and the management console (CMC).  The easiest way to do this is to choose the default Tomcat components in the installation and work from there.
If you left everything else as default, then you will have all the necessary application components installed to get the system up and running.  It may just be that your CMS has not started for some reason.  Try stopping and restarting the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) in the Central Config Manager (CCM) - found in the Start/Programs/Business Objects group.
Once started, try clicking on the "Manage Servers" icon of the CCM (the one with a server and a check mark on it).  This should allow you connect to the system and see which servers have started.  IF you cannot connect, the next step would be to check the windows Event Log.  See if the CMS service started OK.  If it didn't the log should provide you with more information, which you can post here for further assistance.
If it did, and you still cannot connect, you may need to review your network firewall settings and/or your DEP status (see the properties panel for My Computer, choose the Advanced tab, select the Performance settings button, then the Data Execution Prevention tab).
    Happy hunting.
    Derek.

I just noticed the boe_upgrade_output.xml file that all the directories show the path to my original Business Objects XI R2, when I specified a different directory.  Just a little confused by this.

  • Issue With Business Objects Installation-STW00213 The Central Management Server has failed to start.

    Hi,
I am in the process of installing Business Objects XI 3.1 in one of our server. While installing I am getting the error 'The Central Management Server has failed to start. Press 'retry' to attempt to start it again or 'cancel' to skip any actions dependendent on the Central Management Server. STW00213.'
I have tried re-installing the BO, and also tried installing without giving admin password. But it doesn't work. And also I ahve tried giving the passwords of database and CMS Admin without Sepcia Characters. But it also doesn't work.
If I cancel and install the BO, Server Intelligence Agent is not available in Central Management Server.
Could anyone help on this issue?
    Thanks
    Prakadesh

    Hi Prakadesh,
    Try these steps.
    1. Stop and disable the service of current SIA. You can do it from start-->run services.msc. Double click the SIA service and change the status to disable.
    2. Login into sqlplus and drop all the CMS tables.
    3. Create a new SIA pointing to Oracle from the CCM.
    4. Start the new SIA and check if all services come up and you are able to login into Manager servers.
If this does not work, check the event viewer for error messages.
    Regards
    Chinmaya

  • CMS tries to start before Oracle service - therefore cannot contact its CMS database

HelloI have a windows XP sp 2 machineOracle 9i installedCrystal Server XI Rel 2 (evaluation copy)My problem is that the Central Management Server (CMS) is starting up before the OracleService that the CMS database is installed on.  Therefore CMS cannot start automatically and any of the jobservers etc cannot register with CMS.In event viewer i get this:"The root server reported an error Initialization Failure. (Reason: Unable to connect to the database using the provided connection string. Reason: ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress)."When the PC boots up fully I can go into Central Configuration Manager and start CMS manually and access all of its features with no problems.I looked at this sitehttp://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/SystemInformation/LoadOrder.mspxThe program here lists processes in their startup order and I can see from there that CMS and the other Crystal services are started before the Oracle services, for example
BOBJCentralMS starts before OracleServiceBW (alphabetical order)In CCM, on the Dependancy tab for CMS (and all other CR servers) I have added :OracleServiceBWOracleMTSRecoveryServiceOracleOraHome92TNSListenerOracleOraHome92Agent(I thought that maybe this would tell CMS to wait for these to start before starting itself )But still get the same error(s)I can provide any more info if needed.Best regardsCootser

I have used Regedit.exe, regedt32.exe and Crystal Central Config manager, all of which aloow you edit the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BOBJCentralMS\DependOnServiceWhichever way I've loaded in the oracle services to that key (binary) has made no impact. The oracle services start after Crystal and the problem remains. What I have decided to do is use a batch file (see below) to start the services when the machine boots upThis way I know they will start, and it does not take too long
    echo Starting Business Objects Services...
    rem net stop  BOBJCentralMS
    net start BOBJCentralMS
    echo off
rem Stop and then (Re)Start all other BOBJ services
    net stop  BOBJCrystalReportApplicationServer
    net start BOBJCrystalReportApplicationServer
    net stop  BOBJCrystalReportscacheServer
    net start BOBJCrystalReportsCacheServer
    net stop  BOBJCrystalReportsPageServer
    net start BOBJCrystalReportsPageServer
    net stop  BOBJDestinationServer
    net start BOBJDestinationServer
    net stop  BOBJEventServer
    net start BOBJEventServer
    net stop  BOBJInputFileServer
    net start BOBJInputFileServer
    net stop  BOBJOutputFileServer
    net start BOBJOutputFileServer
    net stop  BOBJProcessServer
    net start BOBJProcessServer
    net stop  BOBJProgramServer
    net start BOBJProgramServer
    net stop  BOBJTomcat
    net start BOBJTomcat
    echo .
    echo Business objects services started.
