BO4 - Finding IDT tool really slow compared to UDT

Hi,
Finding Information Design Tool really slow compared to Universe Design Tool.
Screens take long time to display etc.
Other client tools seem fine.
Any tips on making it faster.
Also, getting messag Unknown error in SL Service (WIS 00000)

Thanks for repsonse.
Other client tools have are fine.
When disabled the Macafee anti-virus found it far quicker.
The enabled it also quicker as it some kind of conflict with the anti-virus software.
Do you know how to stop Macafee scanning BO.exes?

Universe results in BOE XI 3.1 really slow compared to BOE XI R2

Our system is BOXI 3.1 fp 1.6 installed on a Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition SP2 (3,5 GB RAM). The database that we are using is Oracle 10g (production system).
We are geting really slow results in one universe in BOE XI R3.1 compared to the same universe in BOE XI R2 (We have migrated this universe from BOE R2)
In BOE R2, in order to get the results it takes between 10 seconds and 1-2 minutes, but the same query, in BOE R3.1 it varies from 1 minute to 15 minutes, and it's not always the same time.
The first time it takes less time compared to other requests in order to get the results, and the query gets all the cpu from the server.
I have tried to optimize the table, using indexes and so on, but we have the same results in BOE R3.1
We are quering a big table (about 300-350.000 registers) that is partitioned by date.
I have tried to analyze the query that produces BO, and if I run the query in a query tool (like toad), it takes about 5-10 seconds in order to get ALL the results
Any way to solve this? Thank you.

This is not working. I tried the same in one of the Test ID (This is an Enterprise Account).
But i am getting the message "Account information not recognized: Access is denied" in the CMC login page.
I logged in via Administrator and verified the Test ID. The account is enabled.
Please any help.

IMac really slow compare to my new macbook air which i bought several month ago. What should i do to get my iMac fast?

I have just bought a new Macbook Air several month ago, and i realize that my iMac is very very slow compare with the macbookair, what should i do to faster my iMac,
This few point happen slow at my iMac:
When Restart it is very slow.
When search spotlight or search a file using finder.
When Running iPhoto, iTunes, iMovie. Especially iPhoto
When transfering image from my phone to iphoto.
When Open New Application.
When working in multi application when swich between application, sometimes it was hang for a few second.
Sometimes typing aslo slow and the text wont come out and the cursor hold a few second.
I think above 7 points was very annoying my working, especially when in a rush.

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At or near the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "System Version." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

PhotoShops gradient tool really slow!

I was using the gradient tool to make a channel art for my Youtube channel, and it's really slow!
Is there anyway I can fix this? I tryed putting atleast 60% of ram to photoshop and still nothing. I don't know alot of options for photoshop.

ABAP Trial performance really SLOW compared with IDES 4.7 (really fast)

just a quick question
I'm running on an XP Virtual machine the full IDES V4.7 and performance is really GOOD. Transactions etc etc.
Now on an identically configfured Virtual machine with similar disks etc the APAP trial Preview runs FAR WORSE and slower. OK I know it's a newer release but there's no transactional stuff in it. The IDES uses around 45 - 60 GB disk soace BTW
The only difference I can see that might make a huge difference is the IDES uses the ORACLE DB system wheras the ABAP preview uses MAXDB DB system.
Incidentally for running VM's ALWAYS allocate the FULL virtual disk size you want when creating the VM. If you let the disks "grow" as in a normal VM this has horrendous implications for database type of applications.
Both VM's are running as 2GB RAM XP systems on a Host Windows 7 X-64 4GB machine.
Any Guru out there who might be able to explain the great IDES performance compared with the ABAP trial preview.
(Both VM's are run individually -- not at the same time).

I have the exact setup as you do (701 V3). Have you run SGEN? I also find that my performance is quite slow at first (presumable while the disk is allocating to memory) but it then speeds up quite quickly. Also, might help if you upgrade your ram if your planning on running both VM's at once. I'm currently allocating 3GB to my VM.
Transactions ST02 & ST06 may help you to trouble shoot your performance issues. Use RZ10 to alter your system parameters (assume you know this already).

Why is Firefox 6.0.2 really slow compared to previous Firefox versions?

After updating to Firefox 6.0.2 , all web pages to every place I visit takes a long time to load. No matter what I try, this version is slow! I have restarted Firefox in safe mode. I have disabled all add-on's and extensions. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. I have have been using Firefox since April 2010, and it had always been fast; until this junk version 6.0.2 came along.
Have you not read reviews online at cnet, or other web browser article sites? Many people are all having the same or really close to these particular issues.
Please get Firefox back to the speed it had, like those of the previous Firefox versions.

Did it work fast in 6.0.1? or 5.0? Are you really sure that the problems you're describing started in this particular version.
Could you go to mozilla.org and download 7.0 and see if that solves it for you again? It's a much faster version.

Finder suddenly running really slow

Hi there.
i am running 10.9.3. When i booted up this evening I got the spinning beach ball when i tried to select a folder in Finder, for about 20 seconds. I opened the "force quit applications" window and while the beach ball was spinning it said "Finder not Responding" which then disappeared as the window opened up!
Really weird as it has been running fine for ages and to my knowledge nothing changed from when I left work to when i got home. Any advice most welcome.

Finding this site really slow

I think the forums are an excellent resource, but lately have
been frustrated with how slow I'm finding page loads these days. Is
anyone else experiencing difficulties? Even typing text into the
input boxes has a frustrating time delay.

Finding FCP 5 really slow??

I have recently upgraded to FCP 5 from FCP HD.
I am not sure if I have missed something here, but it takes forever to render and export a quicktime sequence.
I know this is suposed to be quicker than the previous version 4.5, but at the moment a 6min sequence takes 3 to 4 hours??? I have at least 100Gb of hard drive to work with if not more, and the project is on the second hard drive internal?

CS5 Unite tool really slow

Hi. I wonder if anyone has a fix for this issue & can help.
I am running CS5 15.0.2 on an iMac 3.4 Ghz intel i7 quad core 8gb ram - OS 10.6.8.
Basically, sometimes the unite tool (particularly on text blocks) can take over a minute to complete!
I have looked in activity monitor while it is 'uniting' & it shows as the attached, but if you wait long enough the unite finishes & the program comes back!
A colleague of mine also experiences this & we have tried trashing Illustrators preferences but this does not help.
Any help would be so appreciated as it makes the program nearly unusable!

Hi Mike, thats actually one of the workarounds I have been adopting. Just today I was simplifying a rather complex logo & ended up copying to a blank doc & finishing that area of the job before pasting back in.
I ran a few tests on my iMac at home & do not experience any of this lag (I downloaded a very complex job from my work server & tested with this).
I am thinking you are on the right track with this & may be network related (but may prove difficult to track down).
It is very frustrating especially when I run one of my built actions which does 'select same fill & stroke / unite / hide - then select next colour pair and so on' as this used to blast through artworks but now gives bbod......

Safari being REALLY slow or sometimes "Cannot find server"! HELP!

Right, i have the new 'Safari 4' but its being really slow.
When trying to load up webpages, it sometimes takes AGES to load a page, or sometimes it even comes up with the message 'Safari cannot find the server'.
I have 'LittleSnitch' installed so I can see when Safari is using the internet to either upload or download information and most of the time, Safari is sat there doing nothing and not downloading any information...
I have reset Safari to no avail!
Why might this be happening?

Generally refers to a DNS problem.
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl.)
Adding DNS codes to your Network Settings, should gives good results in terms of speed-up:
Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu. Click on TCP/IP and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' enter the following two numbers:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220

Whilst in System Preferences/Network you should also turn off 'IPv6' in your preference pane, as otherwise you may not get the full speed benefit (the DNS resolver will default to making SRV queries). If you want to know what IPv6 is:

Finder won't open at all, saying error 10810. Mac being really slow.

Finder is really slow ( 15 sec.) after mavericks update on brand new iMac 27" WITH fusion drive...

When looking up files it's fine, but when trying to save or open anything through ANY program, i.e. Adobe CS6 programs, Microsoft Word, but also Apple software, finder is really slow (15 sec. or more of the same spinning beach ball) after the OSX Mavericks update on my brand new iMac 27" WITH fusion drive... This ***** really bad because it totally disturbs the smooth workflow I bought the iMac for in the first place...
Any suggestions?
Already tried 'clearing the plist file' through terminal; didn't work... Rebooting (obviously), didn't work.

I had a similar problem. Tried repairing disk permissions, tried cleaning up with onyx and applejack with no luck. Finally what did work was simply starting up in safe mode (hold shift key down after restart) and it sorted itself out

Can someone please give me detailed instruction on what to do no next. I've read several forum discussion on this subject and seen various examples. i would like help with mine. Reason being is because my MBP boot up time is almost around 2-3mins long sometimes it can even be upto 5mins. reason i ask is because i know this is not normal. compared to my macbook (mid-2010) this is REALLY slow. And all the specs of my MBP should in theory make my MB a thing of the past. (Why i bought the MBP in the first place). i've done PRAM reset and booted in Safe Mode. i've removed several applications using the correct uninstalls where required.
i have ran a terminal commands to clear the kernal caches and got these results (not sure if it will help). And neither have made a difference.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:

Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time when you had the problem. Select the messages logged after the boot, during the time something abnormal was happening. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
For example, if the problem is a slow startup taking three minutes, post the messages timestamped within three minutesafter the boot time, not before. Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the beginning of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post any other kind of diagnostic report, such as hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

Firefox will not open can't open preferences or anything was responding slow earlier in the day had been closed with 2 tabs open when trying to open in the second tab it responded really slow so sut down and used Safari instead

this morning I had 2 tabs open was trying to open my bank web site and it seemed to respond really slow so closed firefox and opened Safari instead the site still responded slow but finally opened when I closed and went back to firefox it would not open can't re-install it or delete it or basically anything nothing is opening
