BOBJ - BW "Error getting hierarchies for dimension... "

Im still whitout a solution for this problem, however we have found a difference between the queries that work and the queries that dont work. The difference is in the hierarchies type but we dont know what is the problem exactly.
Does anyone know if there is an specyfic type of hierarchie that we need to use???

I wonder why you are not using the BEx / BICS connection ? (instead of the old OLAP .unv)
the process flow for generating a universe would include the following SE37 function modules:
BAPI_MDPROVIDER_GET_CATALOGS
BAPI_MDPROVIDER_GET_CUBES
BAPI_MDPROVIDER_GET_DIMENSIONS
BAPI_MDPROVIDER_GET_HIERARCHYS
You should test these in BW .
It may actually be an authorization issue - perhaps your logon doesn't have infoobject authorizations for 0Plant?

p.s. a quick Note search suggests : 1565615 - Error when creating a Universe from BEx: "A runtime exception has occurred. (Error getting levels for hierarchy ( dimension : Unknown error)"
--> "Business Objects Personalization objects" R21K900693 transport has not been loaded properly in the BW system, transaction STMS shows this trasport not loaded.

Hello Experts,
We have Business Objects Edge 3.1, SP2. When I try to create Universe on Bex Query, I am getting this error: Error getting hierarchies for dimension 0PROFIT_CTR (Cube ZI_N_PA01/REP_20100611144403): Unknown error
I was able to create crystal report on the same bex query, Can anybody tell me why I am getting this error? Do I need to apply the Fix Pack 2.5 or 2.7 for this kind of issues?

please run this program in SE38: " RSDS_DATASOURCE_ACTIVATE_ALL "
give data source name and flat file source system name.

Try activating the datasource using the program in SE38: RSDS_DATASOURCE_ACTIVATE_ALL
give the data source name and source system name.

How to limit servermgr_filebrowser to boot volume, to prevent 'Error getting quotas for volume'

Having a system with 1 boot drive and 15 backup drives, we do want to limit the server manager 'servermgrd' its 'servermgr_filebrowser.bundle' to retrieve/check the disk quota only on the boot volume ('/').
Because:
the backup drives are FAT formatted, which will fail every time with this error message: 'servermgrd: servermgr_filebrowser:Error:servermgr_filebrowser: Error getting quotas for volume /Volumes/I of type exfat'
the quota check is repeated every 2 hours (120 minutes), causing the log the be filled with these message and the drives to spin up 12 times a day (consuming more power than necessary and causing extra drive wear)
How can the server hard disk drive quotum check be limited to the boot volume only (not scanning for any other volume)?
And when that isn't possible, what is the correct way to completely disable servermgr_filebrowser?

I mean by this, "send records to TicketCacheStore by 5000 per call " am i right?
I dropped delay to 10s and set factor to 0.5
Not coherece send me 5-20k records and cachestore handle whis successfuly.
But! By diferent means it may work longer sometimes, some lock in database for instance.
I want to find durable solution for the case, not only lower a chance i meet one.
Issuing heartbeat from cachestore looks best for me now.
I find that default guardian timeout is 65s and it is not looks as good idea to make it higher.

Invalid DimValidForPlan3 for Dimension 'SOP_Plants'

I'm trying to deploy a Planning application that has the entity dimension set for PlanType1 and PlanType2 only.
When i deploy the application i get the following message:
Error: Invalid DimValidForPlan3 for Dimension 'SOP_Plants'.
Am I doing something wrong ?
Do i need to have an Entity dimension set for all 3 plantypes or is it possible to have it set just for 2 plantypes?
I'm using EPMA 9.3.1.

Hi,
It is probably at application level, if you select the application in the dimension library, check what plan types you have set it to, if you have set it to 3 plan types then the entities will have to go against 3 plan types.

ODS Activation Problem - Error getting SID

Hi All,
I am facing the problem while activating the request,
"Error getting SID for ODS object xxxx.i know lot of threads are there in forum but those all are taking about while loading the data to ODS,Here i loaded the data into my first ODS(here fine) and then transferring the data to another ODS while activation of Data in second ODS i am getting problem.the second ODS checked the Bex reporting.
If masterdata not existis then it can be a problme in my first ODS but i didn't face any problem in First ODS.First ODS loaded the data from R/3 and second ODS using the datamarts.
Any ideas how to solve this problem.

1) Error getting SID for ODS object ZMMIVO01
2) Value 'PPM@HIGHWA' (hex. '50504D40484947485741') of characteristic ZCUSTREF contains invalid characters
3) Error when assigning SID (details in long text)

Hi,
1) SID errors
SID errors occurs generaly when master is not loaded and activation takes place.
If master data is loaded perform attribute change run and try again.
Also try repairing master data object in RSRV.
2) Invalid char
I think you are facing an invalid character issue.
This issue can be resolved by correcting the error records in PSA and updating it into the target. For that the first step should be to identify if all the records are there in PSA. You can find out this from checking the Details tab in RSMO, Job log , PSA > sorting records based on status,etc. Once its confirmed force the request to red and delete the particular request from the target cube. Then go to PSA and edit the incorrect records (correcting or blanking out the invalid entries for particular field InfoObject for the incorrect record) and save it. Once all the incorrect records are edited go to RSA1>PSA find the particular request and update to target manually (right click on PSA request > Start update immediately).
I will add the step by step procedure to edit PSA data and update into target (request based).
Steps
1. Force the request to red in RSMO > Status tab.
2. Delete the request from target.
3. Come to RSMO > top right you can see PSA maintenace button > click and go to PSA .
4.Edit the record
5. Save PSA data.
6. Got to RSA15 > Search by request name > Right click > update the request from PSA to target.
This should solve your problem for now.
As a long term you can apply some user exit in source system side or change your update rules to ensure that this field is getting blanked out before getting loaded in cube or add that particular achr to permitted character list in BW (Run TCODE RSKC
Input the <character> and execute the program) This will add <character> to the allowed characters list.

Universe Designer: Error getting dimensions for cube

-Using Business Objects Edge 3.1 SP2
-SAP BW 7.0 (patch level 21)
This is quite odd behavior that seemed at first an authorization issue, but now I am uncertain.
-Attempting to create a Universe based on a Infocube.
-Universe connection is created with no problem using user 'ABC'
-Using Universe Designer on the BOBJ server, no issues creating the Universe
-Using Universe Designer on a users desktop, the Universe fails to create with error message:
A runtime exception has occurred. (Error getting dimensions for cube $0SD_C03 (catalog $INFOCUBE): Unknown error)
-Change the connection to use user 'DEF', the Universe creates just fine on the desktop
-Behavior is not exclusive to one BW object, happens no matter what 'ABC' tries to access from this desktop
So, at first I am thinking authorizations, but then the universe create would fail on the server as well. If it is environmental, what could possibly affect this behavior.
Any ideas before I submit to SAP Support?

Oddly enough it was an authorization issue.
When authenticating against the SAP source system from Universe Designer on either the workstation or server, both traces show a missing authorization for RFC_NAME = RASB
This setting is not found in referenced SAPu2019s guides or whitepapers under suggested authorizations for Universe create. What remains unexplained is why using the same credentials from 2 different computers had a different response.

DML Error Logging for underlying tables autocreated for dimensions

Hi,
I have problems with logging errors during mapping for underlying tables that are automatically generated for creating dimensions. I know that DML Error Logging is supposed to work only on tables, views and materialized views, and I have tried it out using a pure table in a mapping without any reference to a dimension and specifying the error table name for it. This works perfectly. The error rows were captured correctly in the error table and the correct rows were also loaded successfully to the target table.
However when it comes to mapping to a dimension, I have some issues with that. I specified the shadowtable name for the underlying table(right clicking on the table in design center and then choosing configure), and after deploying I did check that the error table/shadow table and also the target table were indeed created in the database.
The problem lies now in the mapping because I am actually mapping to a dimension and not the underlying table the dimension references to. It seems that the mapping did not manage to capture details of the error table for the underlying table that the dimension was referencing to and thus were unable to capture the errors. Only the corrected rows get loaded and there were no error messages during the loading that suggests that the incorrect rows were detected.
Would appreciate some assistance here.

The DML error logging feature in 10gR2 and 11gR1 was restricted purely to tables, so the dimension operator did not support it. This is now supported in OWB 11gR2 (plus there is the orphan management functionality).

I have problem when trying to view data on dimension with dataviewer in OWB 11g. it's no problem when i load small amount of data, but when i load huge amount of data i've got error message "ent-06972 Error When Displaying BIBeans for Dimension Dataviewer ". is it some kind of bug in OWB?

After this i am getting an error while i tried to view the data in the dimension

Not sure if it's valid to have a dimension with 1 hierarchy and 1 level in that hierarchy. The hierarchy may have to have at least 2 levels. If you want the configuration of a dimension with 1 hierarchy and 1 level, CWM2 may want you to omit the hierarchy, thus creating the dimension with only 1 level.

OBIEE Plug-in for AWM error: Missing spread attribute for dimension\

While trying to export a cube to OBIEE administrator using the AWM plugin for OBIEE we get the following error for a lot of dimensions.
AWM version is 11.1.0.7.0B on a 11.1.0.7 DB
ERROR: Missing spread attribute for dimension DAY_FLG at level ALL_FLAGS
ERROR: Missing spread attribute for dimension DAY_FLG at level FLAG
ERROR: Validation problems found for dimension DAY_FLG
Dimension DAY_FLG will not have UDML generated
As suggested in other forums I have created a long_desc attribute and selected the "created level attribute in views" option for all the dimensions in the cube, still the error persists.
Please help.

Thanks for you response David. But I'm afraid this does not solve the problem. I did it to all the dimensions and the error on day_flg persists. I noticed that an error on one of the other dimensions thougfh has changed. Detailed error below:

To Fix error: In AWM on the attribute panel for the long description attribute of each applicable dimension -
select the check box 'Create level attribute columns in views'
ERROR: Missing spread attribute for dimension DAY_FLG at level FLAG
ERROR: Validation problems found for dimension DAY_FLG
Dimension DAY_FLG will not have UDML generated
ERROR: Missing spread attribute for dimension HOUR at level ALL_HRS
ERROR: Spread Attribute HR_LONG_DESC found but is not visible for level HR
The dimension HOUR will be marked invalid and no UDML will be generated for this dimension or any cube dimensioned by this dimension.
ERROR: Validation problems found for dimension HOUR

Anyway,
I read many posts on this annoying error message (Waiting for changes to be applied) in the last 2/3 days, but they all refer to the sync staying stuck on it.
Mine doesn't.
I read the message, then it quickly shuts down the sync and the iTunes progress bar only shows the apple...
As suggested by many, I removed voice msgs, turned off/on, tried to sync in individual stages (calendar only...) but nothing works.
I am up to date on iTunes (11.1.1.11) and have IOS 6.1.3 on my phone, to sync on a Win8 pc (all worked fine until recently).
I have had this phone for several years and it has never done this.
It worked absolutely fine, until I loaded the latest version of iTunes it seems...
Any suggestions?

ALSO, on the iPod under Settings>General>iTunes Sync, you may need to back out of the "iTunes Wi-fi Sync," and reopen it to get it to update.
