Hi Stratos,
Yes to both questions.
Tomcat 5.5.20, SAP INT KIT 3.1
We already have a BO System 3.1 with FP1.2 running. There was no problem with the FP1.2 (except the duration of the install process)
Now we install SP2 directly on top of another EDGE 3.1 system but as you can see the web apps doesnu2019t work
Is there someone out there using EDGE 3.1 SP2 already?
Any respond will be greatly appreciated

SP2 Installation Problem on Weblogic Server 6.1SP1
hi,
i encountered a problem installing sp2 to my second server.
(Windows 2000 Advance Server with SP2, dual Xeon CPU, 3GB, 200GB.
Weblogic Server 6.1 with SP1 installed at d:\bea) x 2
installation file itself is valid. as installation at server 1 was successful. however,
when installing at server 2:
1) by double clicking on the exe - blank GUI popup appeared on screen without any
usual text (first screen that reads: welcome - the installer will guide you....).
all three buttons were there. click on the next buttons all the way would give a
title 'installation complete' without any delay. sp2 was not installed.
2) by running exe from console - GUI popup appeared normally. however, when prompted
to select bea home, selecting the default folder at d:\bea and when clicking on next
button, a popup would appear claiming that weblogic server home is not found at d:\bea.
and process discontinued.
the beahomelist is found at c:\bea, with content reading correctly as d:\bea;c:\bea;
Previous SP1 installation on server 2 about 2 months back was successful.
would appreciate for ur input. thanks a lot in advance.

Hi Laurent,

Hello Keigo,
It seems that the problem comes when your server is installed in the
directory where the beahomelist file is located. Am I correct when I
assume that the installation fails when you install the service pack 2

Installation process of BOBJ EDGE BI 3.1 on HP UNIX 11.31
Hi all,
Greetings!
I am stuck with the installation process of BOBJ EDGE BI 3.1 on HP UNIX. In my service market place I find the BOBJ EDGE BI 3.1 Installation only for the environments LINUX and WINDOWS.
Does this mean that the BOBJ Software for EDGE BI (Enterprise) is only available for LINUX and WINDOWS machines and not for HP UX machines?
But I do find the installation documents in SAP marketplace for SAP BOBJ EDGE BI 3.1 on HP UNIX.
I find the following packages in my service marketplace,
Address Directories
SBOP CATEGORIZER WORKBENCH LANGUAGE MODULES
SBOP EDGE BI
SBOP EDGE INTEG. FOR SAP SOL.
SBOP INTGR. FOR SAP
SBOP MOBILE
SBOP XCELSIUS ENTERPRISE

BOBJ INTGR. FOR SAP XI 3.0
Enterprise Query, Reporting, and Analysis package
BOBJ INTGR. FOR SAP XI 3.0
BOBJ XCELSIUS ENTERPRISE 2008

Could you please help me in solving my issue with installing the Business Objects Enterprise on HP UNIX 11.31 u2013 IA64 machine, and please mention the list of softwareu2019s (SAP Media) to be downloaded from SAP.
Awaiting your response at the earliest.

Vineeth DamodarHi,
SAP BOBJ EDGE BI 3.1 is indeed only available for Windows and Linux.
I would suggest to create an OSS message ([http://service.sap.com/support]) requesting access to SAP BOBJ ENTERPRISE XI 3.1.

Reinstall of BOBJ Edge V3.1 problem
Hi all,
I uninstalled BOBJ Edge V3.1 from my server (Windows Server 2003). The reason for this was in my original install I used the default connection port of 8080. It turns out that another program on another server already has port 8080 tied up on our firewall so we can't use that port. I am trying to reinstall so I can change the connection port to 8181 but when it asks for the Product Keycode and I put in the one from my original install it comes back and tells me that it is an Invalid keycode.
I have deleted all of the folders that have anything to do with Business Objects and also deleted everything from the registry that had anything to do with Business Objects.
What else can I do? I really need this installed again today.
Thanks in advance!!!BOBJ support deleted from items from the registry.

SQL Server Express 2012 SP2 installation hangs during extract phase
Greetings!
I am having an issue with trying to silent install SQL Server Express 2012 SP2 (x86).
I have a proprietary installation framework, which is calling the SQL Server Express installer.
The SQL Server Express installer starts extracting files to c:\{some guid}. The folder reaches about 11 mb in size, and then nothing further happens. No activity on the machine, CPU or disk - I have waited up to 15 minutes to verify this. On the normal installation,
the size of this folder is ~650 mb.
Here are the things I've also tested:
- I'm experiencing these symptoms on both Windows 7 and Windows Server 2012 R2 (haven't tested other platforms)
- If I launch exactly the same command from the command prompt, the installation goes through as normal
- If I replace the SQL Server Express 2012 SP2 with SQL Server Express 2012 SP1, and install via our installation framework, the installation goes through as normal
- I have checked and double-checked that our installation framework is started with administrative privileges.
- From my previous search attempts, I have seen issues where the installer would hang or fail when launched from inside an msi, which would result in a log in C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\<something something>. These are not the symptoms
I am experiencing. The C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\ folder is not even created!
Any suggestions, or places I can look to figure out why it's not proceeding? For now, I have worked around the issue by including SP1 instead of SP2, but ideally I'd like to base my solution on the most recent service pack.Hello Alberto!
The installation framework does check for this. I'm also certain that these prerequisites are fulfilled.
When the SQL Server process hangs, I can kill the process, copy/paste the exact command that was executed from the installation framework's log files, and execute that command in a command prompt - and then the installation runs as expected.
The installation framework installs SQL Server Express correctly if I use the 2008 R2 SP1 express or the 2012 SP1 Express installer. It's just the SP2 installer that is giving me problems.
The only difference I can think of is that the installation framework is a 32-bit process, which calls the SQL Server installer, while the command prompt is a 64-bit application. I am installing the SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.exe
from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=43351, so it should be compatible with my 32 bit environment -
"SQLEXPR_x86 is the same product but supports installation onto both 32-bit and 64-bit (WoW) operating systems"
Tomorrow, I will try:
- Installing on Windows 7 32-bit
- Trying to launch the SQL Server installer from a powershell (x86) prompt, to emulate a 32-bit environment on a 64-bit machine -
Office 2010 Service Pack 2 (SP2) installation failing with error code 0x80070643 and B56
I've been trying to install Office 2010 service pack 2 (32 bit) multiple ways without success. I've tried getting it directly from Microsoft Update, downloading the full file from Microsoft and installing it, using WSUS to deploy to clients, and I've tried
using LANDesk to deploy it. All methods are failing.
I need a solution that doesn't involve touching each PC manually, as I have a feeling this error is going to occur on several hundred PC's in my organization. So far on a group of 15-20 test PC's, every one has failed. We have not had problems with any other
Microsoft Updates before this one.
When I try Microsoft Update, I receive the following error:
Code B56 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

2013-08-06 12:47:52:168 112 938 AU #############I too have been unable to install the Office 2010 SP2 update on either a Win7 or a Win 8 system. Researching the errors I got led me to discover the following:
1. Many people are encountering errors during the SP2 installation. Some were able to get around it by downloading the self-installing package and bypassing Windows Update. Some were able to get it installed by first doing a Repair on Office 210 itself
first, and then installing SP2. But many others have not been able to install it at all.
2. Apparently a common and insurmountable issue that prevents SP2 from installing is the lack of the MSOCACHE directory. This directory normally gets installed on a machine during the original install of Office, and contains all the install files used
during the installation. Apparently the idea behind creating MSOCACHE was to allow subsequent updates without requiring the user to have the original source CD available.
The problem is that if MSOCACHE is deleted, which is an option many people choose, you can then no longer do any updates to Office.
I am one of those people.
I found a posting that described a way to recreate MSOCACHE from the source CD. I did that, and the SP2 update actually got farther - it started to install stuff but then stopped and asked for a particular file. I found the file on the CD and
pointed the installer to it, but it said the file was not found and quit. So my install still failed.
The last response I got at the Microsoft Answers site was to wait until SP2 is debugged. It's not clear to me this will ever happen, but we'll see.

German localization of SP2 Installer - I want my zipped-jar-distr ibution back!
Hi,
did anyone try this fancy installation software for the WL6.0 Service
Pack 2? Actually I would prefer the old WL5.1 way of distributing a
service pack (zip file with a readme and lot's of jars) instead of this
piece of software. The localization is really bad, the texts do not fit
the dialogues, german umlaute (ä,ü,ö) don't work, hey, this is Java,
isn't it? Why don't these guys use Unicode?
During installation I always get the error message 'Der Pfad des BEA
Basisverzeichnisses ist' ('The path of the BEA root dir is'). Is what?
Seems the important point is missing :-)
Can I download a non-exe-file installation routine somewhere? Something
really oldfashioned which lets me put my installation exactly like I
want it to be where I want it to be?
Thanks
DanielHi Bertrand,
this is what I was afraid of when about half a year ago Michael Gridley
mentioned that WL6.0 would have this kind of 'convenient' installer. The
old system needed some time unil one would get used to it, but the only
problem I ever heard of was that real java novices would run into
problems with classpath settings. Beside that it was clear, transparent
and did not make too many (probably wrong) assumptions on the
installation environment.
Now we've got this black box of an installer which is probably good for
marketing but from my point of view not a gain from a developer's
perspective.
I really hope that WL6.1 will have an installation mode which proves
this negative view wrong.
Cheers,
Daniel

Hi,
I'm a french developer and I experienced such poorly localization too.
Actually, the french-localized option does not work at all. We must
choose
the english localization in order the installation program to work.
Beside, the english-localized program works fine.
So far, so bad...

SIMPLE FIX for XP SP2 Installs
Greetings. I'll cut to the chase and won't explain here in detail what's really going on with this fix, but it has now successfully cleared a range of installation problems for iTunes 5.0, 5.01, and QuickTime 7, on two unrelated XP SP2 systems. Feel free to contact me if you want more info, but you may definitely want to give this a try if you're running XP SP2 and have been having iTunes install problems (be sure that you are logged in with Administrator privileges):
- Click Start
- Click Run
- Enter in the "Open:" field: "services.msc" (without the quotes)
- Click OK
- Scroll down to "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)"
[ NOT "Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Locator" ]
- Double click on this item
- Click the "Log On" tab
- If the "Local System Account" selection is already
selected, this fix won't help you. If the "Local System
Account" selection is NOT selected, SELECT it now.
[ make sure that "Allow service to interact with desktop
is not checked ]
- Click OK
- Close the Services window
- Reboot
- Try reinstall the 5.0 or 5.01 iTunes+QuickTime package
This may also fix a number of other odd XP SP2 behaviors. Good luck!

DayThink: daythink.vortex.comOver time I saw a range of different install problems as I continued trying to find a procedure to get iTunes 5 and/or QuickTime 7 installed on two completely different XP SP2 systems, neither of which initially had an iTunes installation (but both of which had QuickTime 6 installations).
The initial attempt at the (then 5.0) iTunes install resulted in the infamous "vanishing installation" -- the process appeared to proceed normally, but at the end no files had been installed, and the iTunes icon had only appeared for a few seconds. I eventually determined that the installer was failing silently and deleting all of the files it had installed at that point. No error messages were associated with this failure mode -- the installer's failure to be more verbose made this a much more difficult problem to attack (turning on installer logging gave more information, but was not as much help as might have been expected).
Unfortunately, the installer by that time had also mucked around with various QuickTime files and settings, leaving the original QuickTime 6 installation broken as well.
I then found it was impossible to even install the QuickTime 7 standalone, nor could QuickTime 6 be reinstalled. In all cases (even after manual attempts at uninstalling and cleaning up the partial installs, registry cleanups, etc.) the installers would abort ("interrupted") near the very end of their process, and as usual delete their new files.
iTunes 4.9 installs would also fail in much the same manners. However, I ultimately found a way to trick the system into a working 4.9 (except for CDDB support on one of the machines), using a technique that I documented on this forum some days ago.
As I dug through the various logs and errors, I became convinced that a privilege issue was at the heart of the matter -- this also fit with the sorts of changes that SP2 imposed on the system, and later MS security "fixes" that made even more changes.
This led to my researching the sorts of problems that could relate in that area, until I found discussions of a variety of problems caused by RPC-related privilege configuration errors, that can trigger many bizarre XP SP2 behaviors, including installer failures.
The procedure that I noted in the original message of this thread instantly fixed all iTunes and QuickTime installation problems on these systems. Both 5.0 and 5.0.1 installs proceeded perfectly after the change -- I did not test the change with 4.9.
This situation is the fault of both MS and Apple. MS -- for a whole bunch of SP2-related complexities and problems that were unnecessarily introduced, and Apple for apparently not noting the known issues in this area, and failing to take them into account in their installers. Apple also gets low marks in this situation for installer error reporting, and for how they've handled the situation publicly since the problems became known.

Software Installation Problems with Media Source and Nomad Explo
Hello Creative Users,
recently I had to reinstall my operating system on the PC. I have an IBM Thinkpad R30 with a Sitecom USB2.0 pccard. I am running WinXP Pro SP2 with all latest updates.
I have a Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra with Firmware .20.08 and an update harddri've of 80GB.
As long as I was running the software on my previous installation everything worked fine.
I installed the driver .26.02. This recognized the Jukebox. Musicmatch is able to communicate to the Jukebox and recognizes all files on it.
When I installed Nomad Explorer I got an error ctregserv failed because ctin...dll is not found.
When I tried to install Media Source from the original disk it showed an error after 30% Media Source not found. Install Media Source before continuing.
This is what I received now with all verisons of Media Source and Noamd Explorer incl. .30.0.
Can someone help me as synchronizing with Musicmatch is a pain.
Thanks
RolfHi everyone,
as I saw many questions regarding installation problems with Mediasource or Nomad Explorer
in this forum I will answer my own question right here. I was pointed to the answer by a friend with a similar problem on some other software.
When trying to install the Creative software under WinXP SP2 I happens that the registration does not work. the reason are missing write attributes to the keys for
Creative software. To correct that go to: Start, Run and enter regedit. Hit ok and you are in the registration editor.
Find the Creative location unde HKEYS_SOFTWARE. Click right mouse button and choose
properties.
Check full access for your user as well the system user. click on advanced and mark both all the users you want to install from. Check the lower box below the user window sayin something about roghts being propagetd to lower folders etc. Cklick conform and ok, click confirm on previous screen and close regedit.
Now you should be ok and able to install.

Press any key to continue ...When you say that you choose the default installation directory and then the installer complained about Pointbase, what platform where you using? Had you already attempted installs in the past or uninstallations that did not complete properly?
For your second issue, did you happen to change the host name of your machine? Try cranking up the log level (edit server.xml) to see what's causing the instances to fail on startup. Did the application ever start up after install? What things did you do just prior to the server exhibiting this behaviour? -
Does anyone know where I can download the IPlanet Application Server 6.0 SP3 to get rid of this f... SP2 installation night mare on win NT
Hi,
You an download the iAS6.5 from http://wwws.sun.com/software/download/download/
There is no place where you can download the SP3. Anyway 6.5 has more advance features. Anyway SP2 works fine with win NT. If you have any specific problem with installation, you can point them out. I would suggest you to use 6.5 instead.
Thanks

Installation Problem on iTunes 6.0.1.3 - HpSdpAppCoreApp
Help!
I'm trying to install the new iTunes 6.0 and I'm getting a message during installation that says
HpSdpAppCoreApp
"The feature you are trying to use in on a network resource that is unavailable.
Click OK to try again, or enter an alternative pathway to a folder containing the installation package "HpSdpAppCoreApp.msi" in the box below."
The last time I dug through some files on my own, bad things happened.
Thanks,
Cgood gracious, Chris ...
okay, try applying the general advice on installation problems given here:

... and the InstallShield Tips and Pointers are also helpful with these less-well-documented errors:

As of a few days ago, I can no longer copy and paste an image into my email body. Was there some upgrade or did I accidentally hit some setting that I need to fix. Really strange?
