BOBJ Explorer (Polestar) Personalization gives PS_50304

Hello,   Your help or comments are appreciated on this issue:
BOE: XI3.1 SP2 FP2.3
Sap Integration kit:  XI3.1 SP2 FP2.3
BOBJ Explorer: XI3.2 (Polestar 12.0?)
We have an existing 'primary' Information Space, and have been able to 'explore' - fabulous product!
Attempting to restrict data access, by using Personalization:
1. Created a 'lookup' Information Space (from xls file - two fields - User_id and Sales Org) - and index it.
2. Update 'primary' information space, adding personalization using the 'lookup' information space; match User_id to User, and add Sales Org Key to Sales Org as 'ref'.
3. Re-index 'primary' information space (gets data from BW)
4. Close all IE sessions, and re-logon to BOBJ Explorer (same 'admin' - SAP/BW - user, with entries in the 'lookup' Info Space)
5. Explore 'primary' information space.
6. Error dialog PS 50006 with detail of PS_50304.
I can't find any references to PS_50304 anywhere in docs/forums/etc.
Has anyone got this 'personalization' to work ok - preferably with primary data from BW, and personalization from xls file?
Regards,
Martin.

I see that there have been no responses to this but I am hoping that there is someone out there who can help.  I am having a similar issue with trying to Personalize an Explorer Infospace in BOE X3.1 SP3.
We have created an Infospace from Excel spreadsheet containing 2 columns User, Business Unit. Then in our Primary Infospace indicated this as the Reference.  when we try to open the Primary Infospace we get PS 50006 error with PS 50306 missing technical index error.
we have followed the instructions on how to set this up but appear to have missed a step somehow.
can anyone help?
Thanks, Faith

  • SAP Authentication on Polestar/BOBJ EXPLORER XI 3.1 SP1

    Hi there,
    I've installed Business Objects Edge 3.1 + BOBJ EXPLORER XI 3.1 SP1 + SAP IK 3.1. I do see SAP Authentication type on CMC and Infoview, but not on polestar. I am wondering if I missed something during my install or is it something not supported on Polestar?
    Other applications installed on the same box are:
    Crystal Reports + Xcelsius + Live Office 3.1
    Thanks,
    Gaurav

    Hi,
    I think you have to "Enable SAP authentication" for the SAP BOBJ Explorer, if it is not already done.
    SAP authentication is not avialable by default into the SAP BOBJ Explorer.
    To do this:
    a- Backup the file "default.settings.properties".
    This file is located into the folder "$BOBJDIR/tomcat/webapps/polestar/WEB-INF/classes/".
    b- Edit "default.settings.properties".
    Replace :
    show.sapsystem.name=false
    disable.sapsystem.name=true
    default.sapclient.name=
    show.sapclient.name=false
    disable.sapclient.name=true
    default.authentication.method=secEnterprise
    authentications=secEnterprise,secWinAD,secLDAP
    by:
    show.sapsystem.name=true
    disable.sapsystem.name=false
    default.sapclient.name=
    show.sapclient.name=true
    disable.sapclient.name=false
    default.authentication.method=secEnterprise
    authentications=secEnterprise,secWinAD,secLDAP,secSAPR3
    Hope this helps,
    Gregory

  • Row Level Security from Universe to BOBJ Explorer Information Space

    Hi Experts,
                 We have got a Universe using Sql Server Database and had designed Row Level Security to restrict managers data only to manager who ever log on (@BOUSER), Directors data based on who ever log on(@BOUSER).......
              The above logic is working fine when designing Webi / Deski reports but when I create a BOBJ Explorer Infospace , I log on with my profile as Manager which brings me data relevant to me only, but when other Manager log on to Polestar and use same Infospace the @BOUSER security is not working to bring his own data and it is showin my manager id data to other manager.
        Requirement:  1 Infospace for Managers  and 1 Infosapce for Director's.
                               who ever logon's and uses same infospace from manager's group or Director's group they should see only
                                their data and not aother manager / director data.
    Thanks,
    Raju

    THis is a known issue. Should be solved in BO Explorer XI 3.1 SP2.

  • Explorer/Polestar Supoprt Pack Query

    Hi,
    I am breaking this out from a different thread I created for clarity and because I am still not clear on the answer.
    Basically I am trying to work out whether Polestar SP3 is available and if not is it safe/recommended/supported to install SP3 for Edge XI 3.1 and SAP Integration Kit, but SP2 for Polestar, i.e. different support pack levels?  Apologies if I can find this information in the documentation, but I've so far been unable to.
    In addtion:  I only see these SPs for Explorer/Polestar (using two different S user IDs) to download from SMP:

    I am only interested in the Windows one, and I only see SP2.

  • Explorer (Polestar) Indexing status of univers

    Hi guys
    I have a question I hope you guys can help me with.
    One of our BOBJ consultants have asked me if there is a way to monitor the Indexing status of the universes in Explorer (Polestar)
    I'm not too familiar with the process flow or monitoring of this product. I have tried to find some information on the subject with no luck.
    As he explains the indexing routine, the data is dropped from the univers and then replaced/imported again from the BW client. In the indexing/univers overview he showed me where he can see if the last indexing ran successfully or not.
    Is there any way to trigger an alarm via CCMS, mail or in some outher way catch if a index run fails?
    Br
    Jesper Toft Christensen

    Not currently, I looked via QueryBuilder to see if there was something you could look at but Explorer infospaces don't keep any instances so there was nothign there.  I think it might be added in the future as Explorer/Polestar is relatively new I think they concentrate on rounding out the product before adding things like monitoring.

  • Information space creation error in BOBJ Explorer

    while creating the information space i am getting the following error
    Failed to retrieve the data source details.
    The creation of the data source object tree failed.
    Cannot perform this operation: no valid license found
    Looks like a license key issue, but while installing the BOBJ Explorer setup does not asked for any license key,
    How to solve this error? How to get the license key and how can i update the license key information?
    Thanks,
    Kiran

    Hi all,
    The problem has been solved, I added all the license keys to the CMC server and then the problem got solved.
    Thanks,

  • How to STOP and START the BO EXPLORER/POLESTAR - LINUX

    Dear friends,
    Could you please let me know on How to STOP and START the BO EXPLORER/POLESTAR on LINUX platform?
    Thank you,
    Nikee

    Oracle Apex is an API, if that helps you understand / visualize. You do not start Apex process nor stop it.
    When an Apex session starts it starts calling the API.
    You can however start / stop the listener. It may be OHS, ApexListener and the J2EE container running it, OC4J or any other "server" that you are using.
    The built-in EPG is something like an API again, you cannot start / stop it but you can disable/enable it with DBMS_XDB.SETHTTPPORT API.

    Suddenly today I am unable to view my Google Calendar via Firefox. But I can view it with Internet Explorer. What gives?

    I have tried deleting all cookies and cache several times, but nothing works. I can open Google calendar but when I click on any entry I just get a blank box. If I try to make a new event entry nothing happens. Everything works fine in Internet Explorer.
    I am really getting tired of constant problems with Firefox. Every week I have something that doesn't work. One time it's downloading videos, the next week music or email, now Google calendar. I am about ready to give up Firefox forever.

  • Explorer/Polestar: Need to re-index every time new data was loaded?

    I have a question concerning the indexing functionality of BO Explorer/Polestar. It's clear that I need to re-index my infospace everytime the structure of the infospace has changed (e.g. I added a new object from my universe). What I'm not sure about is whether I also need to re-index my infospace as soon as new data was loaded in the warehouse which is supposed to be a part of my infospace. Example: I crate an infospace consisting of countries (UK, USA, Germany and Japan) and revenue. I index this infospace. The next day a new country (France) is loaded in the dwh. Do I need to re-index the infospace so that users can see "France" in BO Explorer?
    Thanks for your help!
    Agnes

    Hi Agnes,
    according to the Explorer documentation new data are available AFTER reindexing.
    Indexing refreshes the data and metadata in Information Spaces. After
    indexing, any new data on the corporate data providers upon which those
    Information Spaces are based becomes available for search and exploration.

  • Can't view LR metadata modifications on Windows Explorer? What gives?

    Hi all,
    This is my first question to the community, I searched for the answer to this problem here and elsewhere but not able to find out why, hope you can help.
    I'm coming to grips with managing data in LR but I've stumbled upon a snag. I'm using LR 5.7 and adding metadata to CR2 and JPG files and wanted to check whether the metadata modifications showed up on Windows Explorer. It appears as if they don't. My workflow is detailed below, could you point out if I'm missing anything?
    What I did was fill some IPTC and EXIF fields on LR 5.7 and click on "save metadata to file". The fields I added data to was headline and description (IPTC), user comment (EXIF) and title and caption fields (Lightroom's own fields I presume).
    However the metadata I added does not display on Windows Explorer (upon right click/properties/details). I'm using Windows 7 and MS website says Explorer is able to display IPTC and EXIF fields. This however does not seem to be the case. Did anyone else come across this problem or am I doing sth wrong.
    To test it further I modified Title, Subject and Comments fields on Windows Explorer (through file properties/details tab),.I don't know whether these fields are an official part of IPTC or EXIF standards but they don't display on LR either.

    My Windows File Explorer (8.1) does show some of the metadata that LR 5.7 writes, but not all.  I no longer have access to Windows 7, but I'm certain that it does too.  LR 5.7 will also read metadata written by Windows Explorer.
    Some general caveats:
    - Be sure to Save Metadata To File in LR, or better, set the option Edit > Catalog Settings > Automatically Write Changes Into XMP.
    - When you make changes to metadata outside of LR, be sure to Read Metadata From File to get it back into LR.
    - When you make changes with the Explorer Properties window, make sure you click OK or Apply.
    - Use the free Exiftool if you want to examine metadata authoritatively.  Virtually every other program, including LR, Windows Explorer, and OS X Finder, has significant problems and limitiations with metadata.
    I can't explain all that you're seeing.  If you can't figure it out using Exiftool, then I suggest taking a sample pic you've written with LR, upload it to Dropbox or similar, and post the link here; we can take a look.
    The LR metadata fields you mentioned map to these industry-standard fields:
    Title > XMP:Title, IPTC:ObjectName
    Caption, Description > EXIF:ImageDescription, XMP:Description, IPTC:Caption-Abstract
    Headline > XMP:Headline, IPTC:Headline
    User Comment > EXIF:UserComment
    Windows File Explorer doesn't show Headline, and it has somewhat different mappings for Title.  You can experiment for yourself with Exiftool.

  • Business Objects Explorer(polestar) Bookmark tool Issue.

    Hi All,
    We have installed business objects explorer recently. We are currently running on BOE 3.1. We have published an explorer view to our users and we have an issue with it. The users add or change analytics to the view and try to bookmark them. But the bookmarks always takes them to the base page.
    Wanted to know whether this is a known issue or a service pack or a fix pack issue. Also is there a workaround for this problem.
    Thanks,
    Karthik

    Hello Karthik,
    You may want to try the  Business Objects Administration forum.

  • Format Value in BO Explorer (Polestar)

    Hi, i'm currently have BO Explorer 3.2 SP2, does anyone knows how to format a value (Dimension or ratio) in a space?

    Hi,
      All these kind of formats should be done in the source side itself.
    For example, if you are using "BO Universe" as the source then you can do these formatting in the universe itself. Or if you are using SAP BI Accelerator indexes as source then this formatting can be done in the source of the Indexes (BW Infocube).
    Hope this helps helps in solving your issue.

  • Explorer/Polestar

    Is there any way to re sort the order of the facets/dimensions in as they appear in the an information space?
    They appear to display in no specific order and can be in a different order each time you open the space.

  • PDF files will not open but i can open them in IE Explorer. What gives?

    I have tried all the options under tools and PDF download including specifying a specific PDF reader. nothing works,
    jrs

    I would try reinstalling Lion:
    Reinstalling Lion Without the Installer
    Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alterhatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
    Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You can also re-download the Lion installer by opening the App Store application. Hold down the OPTION key and click on the Purchases icon in the toolbar. You should now see an active Install button to the right of your Lion purchase entry. There are situations in which this will not work. For example, if you are already booted into the Lion you originally purchased with your Apple ID or if an instance of the Lion installer is located anywhere on your computer.

  • PoleStar - After login I get blank page

    Hi All,
    I installed BOE and polestar, after the installaion I run polestar in IE and firefox I get a blankpage(in both explorer) after I give username and passward, any one has some idea?thanks!
    Regards,
    Bin

    Hi,
       I feel that it mayb be because of the license problem only. You now try installing XI 3.0 and then check whether CMC app is available in start menu.
    Or another suggestion is to repair the BOE suite installation.
    You can try either of these and get back if you have ay more issues.
    P.S: The best way to thank in SDN is to award points.. !
