BOBJ landscape & integration to BI & ECC
Hi,
Currently we have installed the BOBJ edge 3.1, Xcelsius2008 and Crystal Report 2008 trial version in 32 bit Win2k3OS. Now we want to integrate these with my existing BI 7.0 and ECC 6.0. And for this we have some queries:
01) How can we Integrate it with BI 7.0 and ECC 6.0 system?
02) Is any further tool is required for the integration?
03) Can we install the above mentioned softwares in the BI 7.0 system itself?
04) Kindly let us know the BOBJ possible Ladscape
05) At the time of installing BOBJ edge 3.1 it is automatically taken SQL server as backend. Can we do this for Oracle?
Because at the installation time it did not asked for any particular database name. It automatically took sql server.
Request you to please suggest.
Regards,
Souren

BOBJ BI Integration with BPC 5.x
Hello experts
I'm looking for documents/PPT on BOBJ BI integration with BPC 5.x (road map e.t.c). I look forward reading any information you may have on this subject.
Many thanks in advance
best regards
BenHey Ben,
The plans for BOBJ integration are targeted specifically for our BPC 7.5 release. We may get some of this stuff to be backwards compatible with BPC 7.0 or BPC 7.0M, but no promises yet as we haven't worked out the nature of integration yet. There are no plans to do direct BOBJ integration with BPC 5.x.
Cheers,
Prakash

Gurus ,
Client has existing BOBJ (Dev+QA) same box ,Production Box for LEGACY systems
and want to implement new SAP BW landscape DevQAProduction Boxes
What are the options available
1)can we have same BOX for legacy BOBJ and NEW SAP to be implemented for Universes,Crystal Reports,WebI,Xcelsius etc..
OR
2)do we need to have separate Box and separate out Legacy BOBJ with new SAP BOBJ implementation
can we partition database to house both legacy and sap repository on same Box ?
what is the best practise and approach
ThanksIngo ,thanks let me rephrase the question
Client has 2 tier architecture ,DEV and PROD for BOBJ and have relational universes
we plan to install 3 tier SAP BW different BOX landscape for (dev,qa,prod) and built OLAP universes
question is what is the best approach ,to use the clients existing 2 tier BOBJ landscape which has relational universes and then also use it to built OLAP universes on top of that ?
OR
built separate 3 tier new BOBJ landscape for SAP BW OLAP universes ??
What are the pros and cons of using 2 tier landscape vs 3 tier landscape
what are the pros and cons of using existing BOBJ relational universe landscape to house now SAP BW OLAP universes?
Thanks -
Hi Folks,
can u tell me the landscape of BI and ECC.
DEV> QTY> PROD in BI
DEV> QTY> PROD in ECC
This is the Landscape, my doubt is from where the Data is passing from ECC to BI (like PROD ECC to PROD BI).
Can u please help me out in this.
Thanks In Advance
Regards,
Naresh.Hi,
We develop the objects in development server of BI and move to quality for testing. Most of the companies maintain data in quality server which is quite similar to PRD.
Some companies have One server for DEV and QAT ,you can call it a client copy.So whenver you develop new objects or reports you do not need to transfer it from DEV to QAt for testing.
Best practice for transportation is first transport the objects dveloped in R/3 from DEv to QAT and then replicate to BI ,once it is done then transport the BI Objects from DEV to QAT and same procedure for PRD.
Hope it clears your queries. If you need any mnore inputs please let me know.

Aprimo 's Modules (Marketing Management Tool) Integration to SAP ECC
Does any body have any knowledge or experience on APRIMO's Integration with SAP ECC? Also I would like to know which critical objects in SAP ECC were Aprimo's key fields mapped?
I would really appreciate if some one could shed some light or provide a guidance.

Dear All,
We are using BOBJ products for data cleansing and data integration. We have one system each for data cleansing and data integration.
What we would like to know is do we require three system landscape in BOBJ also for data cleansing and integration activity. Kindly advice
Best RegardsDear Michael,
Thanks for the info, it indeed provided some light
But our scenario is little different we are currently in process of uploading data into our BO historical data server from a third party system
At first we plan to do data cleansing and then upload it into our SAP development server then on quality and so on. We will even create different data souces in same BO data cleansing server if required. Is this approach correct
And do we require a seprate server for data integration or can we have it in our BO data cleansing server. As we understand data integration is part of data cleansing package
If that is the case then we can use our data integration server as second server for data cleansing. As our data volume will be huge
Sorry for keeping it long

Logon issue with Integrated ESS in ECC 6.0
Hello,
We are upgrading to ECC 6.0 from 4.6C. We do not plan to use Portal. PZM3 is not allowed in ECC 6 as 'Screen flow logic' services are not permitted. We had a SSO enabled in the 4.6C system from Win NT using the NT Auth service -- which let users go into ESS services w/o any prompt for login. Currently the ESS services in ECC 6.0 asks for login during first logon after that it doesn't prompt. Can we do the same thing (like that of 4.6C) in the new Integrated ESS(iESS) by using existing tickets issued by Win NT? If not is their any other way SSO can be achieved by not using Portal but by just using iESS? Please advise. Thank you.Hi Kshitij,
SAP note 858138 provides some information about external authentication that is available with SAP Netweaver and points to the related documentation.

Org management (integration with SAP ECC 6) and shopping cart approval
Background:
We currently use EBP 3.0 - Classic Scenario.
Our current Organisational plan was manually created in EBP, and is not the same as the HR hierarchy in SAP ECC 6
Shopping cart approvals use the workflow WS10000276 u2013 Approval Single Level over Limit, which utilises the SLAPPROVER attribute. The user name assigned to the SLAPPROVER attribute does not have to be the manager of the user. To meet our Business requirements, a fairly flat structure was created at the time we implemented EBP 3.0. The approval level an approver is allowed to approve up to is controlled with the use of roles assigned to a user. Each of the approval roles has an appropriate value set against the BBP_APPROVAL_LIMIT attribute under Personalisation.
Moving onu2026
We are just about to move from EBP 3.0 to SRM 7.0 u2013 Classic Scenario - by carrying out a new installation.
Our Business requirement has changed, in that they want the approval of shopping carts to be carried out by the line manager, if that person can approve the value of the shopping cart. If not, for the approval to go up the HR hierarch until a manager with a suitable level of approval is found.
I believe it is possible to create the Organisational structure in SRM from the HR hierarchy in SAP ECC 6. I have tried to do this in our play/test system using - Integration Business Partner-Organizational Management, without much success as yet!
I have a few questions in this area:
1. Not all of the users in the SAP ECC 6 HR hierarchy will be SRM users. E.g. In the SAP
hierarchy there are 3 users u2013 User A, User B and User C. User B is the manager of User
A and User C is the manager of user B. In SRM only User A and User C are users. That
being the case, is it still possible to initially create the organisational in SRM from SAP ECC6?
2. If it is possible to create the organisational structure as described, then using Process
Controlled Workflow we could use the Shopping Cart BC Set One-step manager approval.
If we did this, what would be the best way to incorporate the approval limit of a manager?
Can this be simply achieved by setting the BBP_APPROVAL_LIMIT attribute in conjunction
with the One step manager approval?
We want to avoid having to use the SLAPPROVER attribute due to the high level of
maintenance we currently experience.
Thanks to anyone who can advise me.

Integration of SAP ECC 6.0 with SAP Environmental Compliance 3.0
Hi Friends,
We have SAP ECC 6.0 running on Sun Solaris with Oracle as the DB. Now we are in the process of installing SAP Environmental Compliance Version 3.0 which is running in Windows 2008 Server and with SQL Server 2008 as its database.
I'm looking for an answer on how to integrate the SAP ECC 6.0 to SAP EC(Environmental Compliance) system.
Kindly provide your valuable inputs.Looking forward to hear from you soon.
Thanks and Regards,
VimalHello Vimal
regarding this software a number of publications are available:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_ec30/EC300_FuncDocu_EN.pdf
Here you will find the list of rerequisites etc. and the integration e.g. into SAP EHS Management is explained.
In any case. The SAP marketplace is the right place to take a look regarding prerequisites and how to integrate this software with SAP core (SAP ECC 6.0) or with SAP EHS Management software.
As SAP EHS Management is technically part of ECC 6.0 the link to SAP Enviromental Compliance should be possible.
With best regards

Using Data Integrator with SAP ECC 6.0
Hi,
We're currently using Data Integrator Version 11.7.2.3. Our primary data source is SAP R3 version 4.7 We're planning to upgrade to ECC 6.0.
I'm trying to determine if it will be necessary to upgrade Data Integrator also. Can anyone tell me if Data Integrator Version 11.7.2.3 is compatible with SAP ECC 6.0?
I'm sure there is a document somewhere but I have been unable to find it.
Thanks,
Mark DuffData Integrator 11.7.2.x is compatible with ECC6. Depending on which platform you're using, here are the documents that give this information:
[Linux|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/boc/index?rid=/library/uuid/a00aad14-ac3e-2b10-3b85-8208305073b1&overridelayout=true]

You should keep in mind, however, that Data Integration 11.7.x mainstream maintenence end date is June 2010. Because of that, you may want to consider upgrading to Data Services XI 3.0 or 3.1. -
BOBJ SAP Integration with Active Directory SSO via Portal
Hi all,
We are only interating BOBJ with BW/BI and the user experience is as follows:
Users login to the SAP Portal using their Windows Active Directory user id and password to gain access to the portal.
From my understanding at the moment, the way the interation kit works is that the BOBJ system is configured as per the manual importing the SAP roles and SAP users who will access the Crystal reports via either GUI or Portal.
My question is: When creating a Crystal report is created, the connection details use SAP login credentials and in the CMC the SSO option can be set so that the SAP user who has logged onto GUI or Portal can launch the report... this is fine and works as intended taken that the user logged on with his/her SAP login. As per the user experience above, users log in using their AD Login into Portal, and never use GUI, where this in theory is SSO into Portal. So how does one get past the login screens (BOBJ and database) while preserving AD SSO to SAP and BOBJ?
Any guidance, documents or comments will be much appreciated.
Thanks

yes it is possible:

Upgrade of Windows SP's have negative impact on BOBJ Landscape?
Dear Colleagues,
I hope you can help in this case.
Currently on BOBJ XI R2 FP 3.6 which is on Win Server 2003 Enterprise SP2 - if windows SP's are updated to the latest will this have an impact on the Business objects environment in particular Excel?
Is there any white papers or restrictions or issues or adverse effects encountered by just upgrading Windows SP or applying Windows patches?
Many thanks for your assistance.
Kind Regards,
Ailish
Edited by: Ailish Kennedy on Mar 16, 2010 6:22 PMUpgrading the Windows OS on your BusinessObjects servers is not going to impact your ability to export to Excel. The Excel interface is more on your client side, especially on your web browser's setting.
With that being said, you should always set up a test environment where you can apply the patch and see if it breaks anything. You should always test things out thoroughly before rolling out to production.
Hope this helps. -
