BOBJ Security

Experts ,
How is the security managed in the BOBJ world for Non-SAP data
There are 2 level of security
1)Object Level
2)Data Level
1)Object level is handled by CMC i know ,viwe ,change, delete ,publish access
2)Data Level security - How is this handled and what is the tool used for this ,can anyone explain in details
Thanks

so again to confirm is this statement true
CMC do not manage ROW Data level  (ex - company code = 1000 value)security  is that correct ) ,and it is
Universe designer where we build  data level security and export it to CMC for user groups access
Now i have a situation and hence am usign this FORUM and not moving to non -sap
I am suppose to combine SAP and non SAP data in a report ,lets say WebI ,where would i create this data level security.
Example  Steps-
for SAP
BW 0Comp_code infoobject make auth relevant >bex query use auth variable>build universe-->build webI query
and am set
what is the step or flow for the Non SAP  here can u pls demontrate flow as above
thanks

  • Gathering all possible IDs for rights?

    Hello,
I am working with BOBJ security for a few objects in my environment and see there is an ID assigned to every possible right that can be granted within BOE.  (i.e. - "Add objects to the folder" = 1, "View Objects" = 3, etc..)   Moving beyond the bucket of general rights that can be granted to only specific object types (i.e. - "Download files associated with the report" = 131143), from what I've read these IDs are not static and can vary from environment to environment.
I can retrieve these IDs currently, but would like to be able to do so without having to first retrieve the object for which the rights can be granted.  Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how I can gather a full list of all of the right ID's without having to first look at the object the rights can be applied to?  Basically just looking to get the full list of rights and their corresponding ID's.
    Thanks...

Ok - then the actual RightID value has several components. The 16 least significant bits don't change across deployments - they're the values enumerated in the SDK.
The next 13 least significant bits represents the ID for the plugin type (the SI_PROGID of the object refers to the plugin type).  This value is stored in the CMS repository using SI_OBTYPE.
The SI_OBTYPE for Web Intelligence plugin you can retrieve using the query:
    SELECT SI_ID, SI_NAME, SI_OBTYPE From CI_SYSTEMOBJECTS WHERE SI_PARENTID=27 AND SI_NAME='CrystalEnterprise.Webi'
The SI_OBTYPE value is what may differ between deployments.
    So actual RightID = (SI_OBTYPE for plugin << 16) + (enumerated RightID)
The next least significant is a flag that denotes whether the right applies only to objects that the User owns.
    Hope the above helps -
    Sincerely,
    Ted Ueda

  • Importing SAP users from Prod to Prod

What is the best way to migrate sap users and from one prod system to another.
If I have those SAP user in BOBJ security groups?
Is there a way to move them to new environment (save version) with IMport wizard or LCM and keep their current group memebership?
    Thanks,
    Dwayneat

If the users and groups do not exist already on the destination system you may be able to migrate them in IW following the same rules as AD/LDAP. The SAP plugin should be configured the same (except no roles mapped in on the destination) and use the IW to migrate the groups/users. I have not tried this with SAP but 3rd party LDAP and AD work this way. If the SAP users show up in the IW I would think the same rules apply.

  • Promote access relationships but not users

    Hi everybody,
I am learning BOBJ security on the fly. Fun fun fun!!
I've set up the security the way the clients want it, and now we're trying to figure out how we're going to administer it ongoing. We would like to be able to make changes in development and then promote them into quality and production. I'd like to be able to change and promote the following:
    - Access levels
    - User groups
    - Assignment of user groups and access levels to BOBJ components - applications, universes, folders, etc.
    - WITHOUT transporting the users assigned to the user groups and / or components in development
It seems like LCM is the way to go even though we're having some issues with it. Is there a way to do what we want using LCM?
    Thanks!
    Krysta

The problem is, I can't find it. I am using the AirPort App on my ipad and I can't find any Guest configuration. Am I looking in the wrong place?
Apple assumes that  you will be connecting the AirPort Express to a simple modem....not a modem/router or gateway type of device, or network server.
The Guest Network feature can only be enabled when the AirPort is set as the router controlling DHCP and NAT for the network.
If the AirPort is in Bridge Mode, the option to enable the Guest Network will not even appear in AirPort Utility.
    On your iPad.....
    Tap to open AirPort Utility
Tap the AirPort Express, then tap Edit
Is there a setting for Guest Network here?
If yes, tap to continue the set up
If no, tap the Advanced tab at the bottom
    Tap DHCP and NAT
    Tap Router Mode
If the setting for DHCP and NAT is set to Off (Bridge Mode), the Guest Network feature cannot be enabled in this setting.....which is the correct setting for the AirPort on your network. It's a Catch 22.
You might be able to configure the AirPort to operate in DHCP and NAT mode on the network, but there will be challenges to overcome....namely DHCP conflicts and Double NAT issues.

  • 1 connection for 1 universe

Seeking if its possible for 1 universe, and user 1 accessing connection 1 and user 2 accessing connection 2?
    Many many thanks

    Hi Barry,
    This is BOBJ security issue.
If you want user 1 to access connection 1 with full or limited right you can do this under CMC.
If you want user 2 to access connection 2 only with full or limited rights and user 2 should not have access to connection 1 you can do this under CMC.
You will have to go to CMC and user groups and connection to restrict them.

  • SAP and BOBJ XI 3.x Integrated Security Best Practice

I am trying to find any information around SAP and BOBJ XI 3.x Integrated Security Best Practice.
So far i think it is uninversally agred that you should :
    1. Utilise the Business Objects platform security model to secure applications, folders and reports.
    2. Use BEx queries as the data source for Business Objects Universes and keep the number BEx queries to a minimum
    3. Use SAP authorisations over the BEx queries to secure report data at a row level.
Has anyone seen any formal SAP Best Practice document or have any info to add ?
    Andrew

    Hi,
those three items are all correct. In terms of security you can find lots of material in the standard BW help.
in terms of query design / universe:

  • Row Level Security from Universe to BOBJ Explorer Information Space

    Hi Experts,
We have got a Universe using Sql Server Database and had designed Row Level Security to restrict managers data only to manager who ever log on (@BOUSER), Directors data based on who ever log on(@BOUSER).......
The above logic is working fine when designing Webi / Deski reports but when I create a BOBJ Explorer Infospace , I log on with my profile as Manager which brings me data relevant to me only, but when other Manager log on to Polestar and use same Infospace the @BOUSER security is not working to bring his own data and it is showin my manager id data to other manager.
Requirement:  1 Infospace for Managers  and 1 Infosapce for Director's.
who ever logon's and uses same infospace from manager's group or Director's group they should see only
their data and not aother manager / director data.
    Thanks,
    Raju

THis is a known issue. Should be solved in BO Explorer XI 3.1 SP2.
    Check SAP note 1365329 (http://service.sap.com/notes)

  • Check SAP BOBJ 4. 0compatibility with SAP BW SEcurity Model 3.5

I am trying to find out if SAP BO 4.0 is compatible with BW Security Model 3.5 or needs to be upgraded to 7.0. The PAM (Product Availability Matrix) doesn't have any specifics on the BW security model. Can anyone please provide me some insight on this?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
all the supported platforms are listed in the PAM for service marketplace and the integration with the Authorizations is achieved via SSO.

    Kannan,
the error in your logs like "NoClassDefFoundError" etc. point us towards issues with jar files. either they are missing or not the correct ones.
A general practice in such situation is to
stop all servers except CMS,IFRS,OFRS > repair the base installation
    OR
If you have a working environment with the exact same patch, copy the 'lib' folder from "/bobje/sap_bobj/enterprise_xi40/java/" to the non-working server.
PS: please attach the logs to the thread instead of pasting the content.

  • Data security (Data from SAP BW) for AD users

    Hi  All,
    I have a scenario.
    BO env : Business Objects 3.1 Sp3
    Sap Integration kit Sp3
My target is to implement AD SSO & also provide data security for data from SAP BW. Currently there are no roles & authorization defined in the sap System. My plan was
Step 1:-  Implement AD SSO in Business Objects
Step 2:  Map the AD users in SAP system
Step 3:- Crate roles in SAP System
Step 4:-  Assign the users roles
Steps 5:- (Not sure) :-  Map the users (Now in SAP) to BO & then aliases them with the users from AD.
Pleas let me know if this would be correct approach... if not please suggest.... I am kind of new to SAP BO integration with experience in BO admin

Step 1: Setup Windows AD SSO on your BOBJ server
Step 2: Import Windows AD groups in BO
Step 2-  Setup Server-side SNC between BO and your SAP system
Step 3:- Create roles in SAP System and import them in BO
Step 4:-  Assign SAP users the created roles
Step 5: - In the CMC create SAP aliases for your Windows AD accounts
Step 6: - Setup your reports and/or universe connections to use SSO.
For more information on server side SNC check the installation guide of the integration Kit.

    Stratos

  • SAP ABAP/BOBJ Infoview initial password change

    Hi all,
We are using BOBJ Crystal Repors and BI for reporting. All authentication and data security is working great including user/role sync from ABAP stack.
My problem is as follows - Say I reset the initial password in the ABAP side for a user id. I log into BOBJ Infoview and the new inital password syncs as expected. However.....the infoview does not promt for the user to change the initial password as the ABAP side or portal would. Now the user maintains the initial password the admin set. Again, our portal or ABAP system forces the user to change the initial password but I can't seem to have the infoview do the same.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

I believe this note pertains to your issue:
1319430 - SAP Users not prompted to change their passwords
    Version   1     Validity: 03/18/2009 - active
    Language   English
    Edit Show change log
Content:    Summary   |   Header Data   |   References   |   Product
    Symptom
When the SAP system has a new user set to change their password on the initial login and the user attempts to log into Infoview using the SAP integration kit the user is not prompted to change their password.
    Reproducing the Issue
When SAP system has a new user set to change password on initial login and user attempts to log into Infoview using SAP integration kit the user is not prompted to change password.
    Cause
This occurs because, as with other 3rd party integration solutions, we do not write to the authentication system but only read the information that is there. Thus we are unable to "CHANGE" an SAP password.
    Resolution
Have a new user access the SAP GUI or another SAP utility before accessing InfoView for the first time.

  • Querying CMS tables for users' security, history & favorites

    Hello,
We are running BOBJ over a BW environment, and we've been asked to help design a Webdynpro interface that reads a user's security credentials in both BW and BOBJ servers and pulls in all reports, Bex or BOBJ, that they have access to.
To do this, we would need to query the CMS tables for:
All reports a user is authorized to view
Groups a user is associated with
    User's History
    User's Favorites
Does anyone have suggestions?  I've researched Query Builder, but I'm not sure if it can help us, as it accesses three virtual tables instead of the physical tables in the CMS.  The option I am guessing we will need to use is SDK.
I'm fairly new to both BW and BOBJ, so any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Scott

    Hello Scott,
Did you check the possibility of using Audit universe and reports? Please check below link for some useful sample files.
