  • What are the steps for using Bobj with ECC

    Hi,
I have the ECC 6 with EHP4 system, now i want to use BusinessObjects for reporting purpose. I dont have the BI installed, What are the pre-requisit for installaing and using Bobj with web intelegence and crystal report. Dose BI is must for bobj to work? Please explain in steps what are the things i have to do.
    Thanks
    Rajib Imran

It looks like you are new to BOBJ. BI is the service name and BOBJ is the product name in SAP.
Since you have not mentioned your version of BOBJ, I assume you are in the latest version...
To date, there is no direct connectivity available between ECC and BI 4.0 (current release of BOBJ).
You may need to use one of some of the following ways:
    1. Using Plug and play Rapid marts (using Data Services)
    2. Build your own custom marts (using Data Services)
    3. Building SAP BW and using SAP integration kit
Having said, there is a plan for direct connectivity between SAP ECC and BI 4.0 in the upcoming enhancement to BI 4.0.

  • BOBJ with ABAP Reports

    Hi Experts,
I got good experience in ABAP and heard about BOBJ. I didn't have knowledge on BI. Is there any concept related to BUSINESS OBJECTS with ABAP Reporting. So, that I would like to learn. Kindly guide me regarding. And also let me know like from where i can start learning this BOBJ reporting.
    Thanks and regards,
    Gopi.

    Hi,
You should start of building Bex queries against SAPBW and start building BO universes with those Bex queries and subsequently build WEBI reports on top of the the BO universes.
You could do some User-exits on those Bex queries using your ABAP expertise.
    Thanks,
    Venkat

  • BOBJ SAP Integration with Active Directory SSO via Portal

    Hi all,
We are only interating BOBJ with BW/BI and the user experience is as follows:
Users login to the SAP Portal using their Windows Active Directory user id and password to gain access to the portal.
From my understanding at the moment, the way the interation kit works is that the BOBJ system is configured as per the manual importing the SAP roles and SAP users who will access the Crystal reports via either GUI or Portal.
My question is: When creating a Crystal report is created, the connection details use SAP login credentials and in the CMC the SSO option can be set so that the SAP user who has logged onto GUI or Portal can launch the report... this is fine and works as intended taken that the user logged on with his/her SAP login. As per the user experience above, users log in using their AD Login into Portal, and never use GUI, where this in theory is SSO into Portal. So how does one get past the login screens (BOBJ and database) while preserving AD SSO to SAP and BOBJ?
Any guidance, documents or comments will be much appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jacques

    HI,
    yes it is possible:
take a look at the blogs I did on the install and configuration (specially the SAP Authentication):
BusinessObjects and SAP - Installation and Configuration Part 1 of 4
    Install Part #1
BusinessObjects and SAP - Installation and Configuration Part 2 of 4
    Install Part #2

    Install Part #3
BusinessObjects and SAP - Installation and Configuration Part 4 of 4
    Install Part #4
BusinessObjects and SAP - Configure SAP Authentication
    SAP Authentication
    Important here is that:
    - the BI System is configured to accept tickets
    - the portal and BI system are configured as trusted system
    - the SAP authentication is configured

  • Integrating BOBJ XI 3.1 with GRC AC 5.3

    Hi all
Has anyone worked on integrating BOBJ with GRC Access Control 5.3.
We have been using GRC CUP for access provisioning all the SAP (ECC, BI, Portal) systems. Now, we have integrated SAP Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1 with our SAP BW system.
We are looking to provision the BOBJ groups to users when they request BI roles. Has any one done this integration or do you have any documentation on this topic?
    Appreciate your response.
    Thanks
    Kee

    Hi Kee,
AC 5.3 CUP can only provision ABAP roles and via the portal RTA UME and portal roles.
    Best,
    Frank

  • HCP with BOBJ

    Hello,
I am working on HANA Side car scenario, my scenario needs following:
    - Integration with on-premise applications (SAP/non-SAP)
    - Reporting in BOBJ (Dashboard, Design Studio, Webi etc.)
I am considering to use HCP as clients needs fairly small HANA footprint however I couldn't found anything in architecture and documentation which explains how to integrate BOBJ with HCP (using HANA Cloud Integration or VPN?). Can we also deploy BOBJ on Cloud so that performance is better than on-premise BOBJ.
I tried to search this information but unfortunately couldn't found, I presume with DB service of HCP native HANA development is allowed.
    Regards,
    Gourav

    Hi Gourav,
Reg: BOBI based reporting capabilities on HCP: As of today, this is not available. The only option is to build generic style reporting (SAPUI5 UX) based on
XS or JAVA and embed in HANA cloud portal service.
HANA DB service: Yes. XS engine is available in this option to build native applications. But it it is a good idea to understand in detail before choosing between DB/App service in HCP.
One option: there is SAP lumira cloud . We use Lumira server on top of HCP already internally.
Second option: If there is strong demand for BOBI based reporting, then HEC (like AWS) is another option where a private cloud is hosted with HANA and BOBI.
    Hope this helps.

  • Homogeneous system copy when BOBJ involved

We have BOBJ with our BI 7.0/7.1.
When doing a homogeneous system copy, what will be different from a BI without BOBJ ?
    Thanks for your help.

OK. Now i'm checking the sap note 400241.
First of all  I've reset the SAPSR3 user password with the following command
    brconnect -u system/<PWD> -f chpass -o SAPSR3 -p <PWD>
I checked  the oracle user status
All the oracle users have the folling status
    USERNAME                       ACCOUNT_STATUS
    SCHEMAOWNER                    OPEN
    OPS$ORABWP                      OPEN
    OPS$SAPSERVICEBWP        OPEN
    OPS$BWPADM                      OPEN
    SYS                                       OPEN
    SYSTEM                                 OPEN
    SAPSR3                                 OPEN
    OUTLN                                   LOCKED
    TSMSYS                               EXPIRED & LOCKED
    DIP                                        EXPIRED & LOCKED
    ORACLE_OCM                     EXPIRED & LOCKED
    USERNAME                       ACCOUNT_STATUS
    DBSNMP                         EXPIRED & LOCKED
Now, as described in first step in  "Reason and Prerequisites" chapter  I try to connect via OPS$ user with the following command
    connect /@<sid>
is ok. Now I try to logon as sapr3 using the password I specified
    connect sapr3/<password>@<sid>
I have the following error message:
    ERROR:
    ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
Warning: You are no longer connected to ORACLE.
I'm sorry, but I not a Oracle DBA.
    Thanks.

  • BW 3.5 and BOBJ XI 3.1 SP3 Integration

Hello. I am in a strange Situation...we are using BW 3.5 SPS 18, for Single Sign on and integration with BOBJ XI 3.1 SP3, Minimum required from BW server side BW 3.5 SPS 20.. what happens if we integrate BOBJ with BW with out applying SPS 19 and SPS 20? any iades? the reason for this is very soon we are planning to upgrade to BW 7.3 (may be after 12 to 18 months, and we don't want to spend any extra money on BW 3.5 system).. what do you guys recommend?

If the Supported platforms documentation states a specific patch level this means that the product functionality has been tested with this patch level and if you run into trouble using this setup SAP will provide support and corrections for the problems that may arise.
The fact that SPS 18 is not referenced in the official documentation means that either this setup was found to have issues during the pre-relase official tests of SAP or that this was not tested at all and if you do run into issues SAP's first suggestion will be to upgrade your SAP BW backend.

  • SAP MDM-BOBJ Integration

    Hi Folks,
has anybody used SAP BOBJ in his/her MDM Project. I need to know the capabilities and the technical architecture of BOBJ with MDM.I understand that the data cleansing in BOBJ is done in regard to international standard formatting for addresses like country, pincodes etc..Can i have the docs or links to the above related requirements.
    Regards
    Biswanath

To start with, the [MDM homepage on SDN |Enterprise Master Data Management]currently features a Webcast showing an MDM-BOBJ data quality services integration case, and a How-to Guide dealing with integrating the BOBJ ETL capabilities with MDM.

  • BOBJ Landscape Architecture

    Gurus ,
Client has existing BOBJ (Dev+QA) same box ,Production Box  for LEGACY systems
and want to implement new SAP BW landscape DevQAProduction Boxes
    What are the options available
1)can we have same BOX for legacy BOBJ and NEW SAP to be implemented for Universes,Crystal Reports,WebI,Xcelsius etc..
    OR
2)do we need to have separate Box and separate out Legacy BOBJ with new SAP BOBJ implementation
can we partition database to house both legacy and sap repository on same Box ?
what is the best practise and approach
    Thanks

Ingo ,thanks let me rephrase the question
Client has 2 tier architecture ,DEV and PROD for BOBJ and have relational universes
we  plan to install 3 tier SAP BW different BOX  landscape for (dev,qa,prod) and built OLAP universes
question is what is the best approach ,to use the clients existing 2 tier BOBJ landscape which has relational universes and then also use it to built OLAP universes on top of that ?
    OR
built separate 3 tier new BOBJ landscape for SAP BW OLAP universes ??
What are the pros and cons of using 2 tier landscape vs 3 tier landscape
what are the pros and cons of using existing BOBJ relational universe landscape to house now SAP BW OLAP universes?
    Thanks

  • Oracle Connection and BOBJ

Hello, I have a question. I know how to connect BOBJ 4.0 to SAP BW very well but I want to know how to connect BOBJ with oracle. I have questions like do we have to create a background id in both systems(Oracle and BOBJ)? if you have some links, can you please post them in this thread so I can find out about these queries.
    Thanks.

    Venkat,
It all depends on how you configure your Oracle environment, you could run ORANET &/or copy the TNSNAMES.ora from working system.   This has nothing to do with BusinessObjects, you need to get your base Oracle client working first.
The TNSNAMES.ora file is located in ORACLE_HOME\network\admin

    Ajay

  • Issue with EP KM integration with Business Objects

    Hi,
We have integrated BOBJ with EP KM and are able to view the Business object repository (Inbox, MyFavorites & Root Folder) in KM.
The issue is when a webi document is added to My Favourites in Business object Infoview, the same is not reflecting in the EP KM. It takes around 30 mins to show the latest content in KM
Any clue on this.? While configuring BOBJ repository manager in KM, we dont specify any cache or pull mechanism to fetch the latest webi documents from BOBJ. Am I missing some configuration from portal end.?
    Thanks,
    Siva

Any clue on this. I am still facing this issue and haven't got any work around.

  • Unable to see SAP BusinessObjects Document Viewer template in 7.4 portal

    Hello Experts,
We are looking to integrate dashboards created with BOBJ design studio into enterprise portal (NW 7.4). We have followed the steps mentioned in the blog Integration of BOBJ with SAP Portal.
    Namely:
    1. Taken the com.sap.businessobjects.iviews.par and com.sap.businessobjects.iviews.templates.epa files from the BI server
    2. Imported the EPA file into the portal
    3. Converted the com.sap.businessobjects.iviews.par file into EAR file and deployed it into the portal
    4. Created System alias for the BI system
    5. Configured SSO between portal and the BI server
After doing these steps when trying to create the Business Objects iView we are unable to see the SAP BusinessObjects Document Viewer template in the portal. Can anyone let me know if we have missed some additional configuration that has to be done?
    Regards,
    Saurabh

    Hi Experts,
Issue has been resolved. After importing the EPA file into the portal, we missed out restarting the portal. Once this was done I am now able to find the SAP BusinessObjects Document List and SAP BusinessObjects Document Viewer templates in the iView creation wizard.

    Saurabh

  • BO XI 3.1 SP3 - SAP Integration Kit: Transports

    Hi All,
My question is regarding the transports that need to be imported into SAP system so that it can connect with BOE. We are connecting our BW system with BOE, please let me know whether we need to move all transports in BW system only or we have to move transports in R3 system as well.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Ingo,
Please help us in solving the below issue:
We have installed BO XI 3.1 version with the following configurations.
    Windows 2003 Server, SP2 64bit Version
Java: JDK 1.7 and JRE 1.7
    BW: BW 3.5 version
BOE in Tomcat 5.5 App server
    SAP integration kit 3.1 32 bit (51040568.zip)
The issue is that while integrating BOBJ with BW to import all the roles for SSO, we are unable to find   the exact JCO files for doing the same. We tried with JCO 2.1.8, JCO 2.1.10 and JCO 3.0, but all the versions turned futile. After the initial installation with JCO 2.1.8 version (as per to Installation guide) we found neither CMC nor Java Infoview are working.
Please help us in identifying the right JCO for the proper installations and do we need to install SAP integration kit 3.1 SP3 ? This is pretty urgent

    Rajib
