BOE XI 3.0 to BOE XI 3.1

HI All,
I have a BOE XI 3.0 installed on my server.  I have developed some live reports of WebI, Crystal Report and Dashboard.
Now we have one new server. I want to install BOE XI 3.1 SP2 on that server. And i want my all these reports on that server.
How can i use these reports of XI 3.0 to XI 3.1?

Rishit

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for your reply.
But when we try for importing universe, it will give you error like Can not import universe: CMC is different.

  • Migration from BOE Xi 3.0 to  BOE Xi 3.1

    Hi ,
Can any share the documents / views about to Migration from BOE Xi 3.0 to  BOE Xi 3.1
    thanks in advnace,
    Reddepap K

    Hi,
first of all could you please clarify the need for migration from  BO XI 3.0 to 3.1, as you can simply apply SP1 on top of 3.0 and it becomes 3.1.
if you have considered this and still needs to migrate, following are the 3 posible options.
    1. Live-Live Migration - Import Wizard is the tool
    2. BIAR - Live Migration - Import Wizard is the tool
Please reffer the Import Wizrd User guide for the option 1 and 2 link provided in the above thread.
Also the 3rd option is to perform the Databse and Filesystem copy, find the step below.
Launch CCM from the Destination System
Copy all of the file store from your Source implementation to the file store folder for your Destination implementation
Stop SIA - right click and select properties - Go to the Configuration tab - Click on the button to specify the data source -
Select "Copy Data from another Data Source". This will copy the data from your source to the Destination.
    Regards,
    Ramu.

  • Does BOE XI 3.1 means BOE 12.1

What is the version of Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.1.
Does BOE XI 3.1 means BOE 12.1.
Do we have any documentation on this area.
    --Kuldeep

    Hi
BusinessObjects XI 3.1 is a release that is focused on bringing parity to our platform support for both Java and .NET.  In BusinessObjects XI 3.0 does not provide a .NET version of standard BI portal, InfoView.  BusinessObjects XI 3.1 has released a native .NET portal which has near parity with the Java version.  I say near parity, because there are a few things missing, namely:
    Encyclopedia
    Dashboard Builder
    Voyager
    BI Mobile
    Polestar
BusinessObjects XI 3.1 has added support for Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 and Sharepoint Portal Server 2007. If you are using the SAP Integration Kit, this is also now available on the .NET platform.

    Team,
can any one help me with a proper tehcnical procedural guide documentation for BOE 3.1 SP3 to BOE4.0 in Unix envieornment.
None of docs present in the SAP masker palce give a proper tehcnical setaps or approach rather it give me some generic docuemensts whihc are simply wordy with no technical details.
Am kind of stuck with BPE upgrae from 3.1 SP3 to BOE 4.0 for UNIX (I donot wnat any WINDOWS documentation)

    Hi,
yes - finding documentation on UNIX is somethimes painfull. Cause BI4 is currently in Ramp- Up, it is possible that not all Documentation is finished.

  • Upgrade or re-install?  CE9 to BOE XI R2, new server has BOE XI old version

We have an old server that's running Crystal Enterprise Reports version 9 and it is the current production machine.
We also have another server that was purchased a couple years ago and BOE XI was loaded on it and the CE9 stuff was migrated to it.  But the migration was never completed and the person in charge of this left and the project has sat since then due to resource issues.
I am now tasked with creating a plan for getting BOE XI R2 loaded on the "new" server and migrating the information from the CE9 server.  There are 2 options that I can see.
    1) Upgrade the existing BOE XI in place to R2.  Would doing this preserve configuration that had already been done?  What problems will be presented by the fact that information was already migrated once from CE9 and everything will need to be re-migrated?
    2) Completely uninstall BOE XI and then reinstall BOE XI R2.  Start from scratch with configuration and migrating information from the CE9 server.
Also, I saw mention in another thread of obtaining the services of a consultant.  We typically do not do that unless it's absolutely necessary.  Would like your opinions on whether this is really complicated enough to warrant hiring outside help or if we should be able to learn what we need from documentation.  The person that did the original migration took training classes and we did not use a consultant.  Thanks for your help.

Well you said the XI environment is old, but if you wanted to an upgrade will keep what you have. We usually recomend migration vs upgrade if a production server is installed but in DEV if all goes wrong, your other option is to reinstall anyway, so might as well try it out.
What I think you will end up doing is migrating from CE9 to XIR2. It's a pretty tall task for anyone to assume they can guide you through a migration of 3 product versions in a simple forum post. This is why it's recomended to use a consultant, as they will get to know your existing environment and all the possible "gotcha's".
The import wizard is your tool for migrating reports, users, groups, folders, and even instances from CE9 to XIR2. You are welcome to perform this on your own and if you have a contract you can always open a message with support if you get stuck.

  • BOE XI3.1 + OpenDocument + token 参数传递

    Hi
我想通过dashboard URL button 链接到一个CR, 用了openDocument 功能, link 如下:
    http://<server>:8080/OpenDocument/opendoc/openDocument.jsp?sWindow=New&iDocID=6053&isApplication=true&token=entSession

    2. 在opendoc url中去掉isApplication=true,保留sWindow=true

  • Advantages & disadvantages to import a CR (.rpt) to directly BOE or SAP BW

Hi all, I am analyzing the best method to import crystal report (.rpt) in BOE.
    1) What are advantages and disadvantages to import a crystal report (.rpt) to directly in BOE ?
    2) What are advantages and disadvantages to import a crystal report (.rpt) in SAP BOE and then publish into BOE by transaction code /crystal/rptadmin ?
I read in most of thread that most of you use the solution 2.
I intend to use the solution 2 meaning :
    - save the crystal report in SAP BW and then publish in BOE thanks to transaction code /crystal/rptadmin.
But the solution 2 has a lot of configurations to do as create a publishing service, create an RFC destination, create a BOE server definition.
I need your point of views.
    Thank in advance.

    hi,
As far as we understand, when using SAP Single Sign On (SSO) in the universe, analysis authorizations from SAP BW are applied and the useru2019s authorized data is automatically retrieved.
    >> That is correct and you shouldn't try to compare the way of setting up row level security in the relational world with the multidimensional world. very different approaches and the material above - except the SAP BW part - would help in this case.
Now u2013 how can we implement row-level security on SAP BW data (queries or cubes), if we are not using SSO and want to maintain the security restrictions on the BO side?
    >> You can't because the OLAP Universe does not allow you to specific data level restrictions
    Summarizing my questions:
u2022 What is SAPu2019s preferred strategy for implementing row-level security in BO when reporting from SAP BW data?
    >> Using BI Authorizations
    When not using SAP SSO:
u2022 What possibilities do we have to maintain the security on the BO server side?
    >> Why would you not want SSO, as each use access SAP BW data needs an account anyway.

  • BI (BOE) XI R3.1 (Linux) Server Migration -  Update BOE base directory path

    Hello,
Performing a server migration using BOE XI R3.1 (from BOE XI R3.1 to same release BOE XI R3.1) on Linux Platform.
After performing a data restore, the BOE server executables could not be launched (do not start) due to different BOE base directory path in these environments.
Could someone help point me on how to edit server configuration data to correct the base path in the migrated server?

    Hi,
Thanks for the input.   Unfortunately, I don't see an option in ccm.sh to delete sia/servers..  Using serverconfig.sh, I tried to recreate the sia using option 1 - Add a Server Intelligence Agent, and this option is supposed to recreate the sia and default servers if it already exists in the database.   However, this yields same result: CMS is running with correct base path, but all servers are not launched since the server configuration path reflects the from environment, and not the current/target environment.
    Thanks again.

  • Versions required for LO / BOE?

    Hi,
We have an Xcelcius dashboard created with version 2008 SP1 FP2 (12.0.1.2 ?).
The data is sourced using Live-Office XI 3.1 (12.1.0.882) from a BOE Webi report.
Our BOE app is XI 3.1 (12.1.0.882) with SAP integration kit XI (12.1.0.890).
I recently updated only my local Xcelsius to SP3, and was able to load the original xlf file (saving as a new copy in the updated SP3 format) and export a swf file.  However, when I try to either preview or open the swf, the file hangs at the components stage.
Is there a requirement for Xcelsius to be at a given SP to work with the other BO apps (BOE / LO / SAP IK)?
Are there any other tips when migrating xlf's from SP1 to SP3?
    Thanks!
    Darryl

    Hi Srinivas,
Thanks for the info.  one more question - I only see one version of LCM, so I imagine it is not tied to any SP level of our Enterprise installation?  We are currently on 3.1 (12.1.0.882) but looking to install SP3 soon..
    Thanks!

  • Can not view/schedule Crystal Reports in new BOE XI 3.0 Installation

    Hello,
I'm having an issue on a brand new installation of BusinessObjects XI 3.0 on AIX 5.2 (using WebSphere 6.0). Installation went smoothly and migration went fine. Can log in, pull up CMC, InfoView (all other apps). But scheduled Crystal Reports (as well as viewing Crystal Report thru InfoView) are failing with the following errors (which to me seem interrelated):
*(1) Error in File ~cec0c55d91e0e015.rpt: The request could not be submitted for background processing*
*(2) Error in Report XXX: Failed to load database information*
*(3) An error occurred while creating a subprocess in the processing server. [RCIRAS0604]*
These three errors indicate to me that the report engines are having issues opening the files, pulling the data and generating the reports. We've checked to make sure that the account that BOE is running under has all the permissions it needs - and it has.
I just turned on tracing (-trace) on the report job processing servers and I'm watching the logs as I retrace my steps...
Any ideas? Would appreciate any feedback...
    Thanks,
    Will

Turns out this is a pretty nasty issue on Unix environments. Being that the BOE application is developed on Windows then ported to Unix environments, the services (daemons) still end up depending on an emulated registry (MainWin) sort of like in a Windows environment.
For some reason (we're still trying to figure this out), the BOE registry entries got corrupted and then started preventing the processing servers (which in the case of CR ultimately depend on  CRPE - Crystal Reports Print Engine) from opening up and processing CR files.
We engaged BusinessObjects/SAP support and have been able to resolve this issue on our test AIX system. The resolution included deleting all the mainwin (mw) tmp directories and files in the root temp directory and also in the
    /bobje/enterprise120/aix_rs6000/crpe>
directory. Then we stopped all BOE services and reran the MW script to regenerate registry entries. This repair was a pretty intricate multi-step process. The SAP Technical Rep who worked on this case is writing a knowledge base article (an SAP note). Once I get details, I'll update this post.
The good news about this issue is that the upcoming SP1 of XI 3.0 removes the dependency on the mw registries...

  • Configure SSO Connection from SAP Enterprise Portal to BOE Server

    Hi Guys,
We recently installed a BOE Server and want to connect it to our SAP Enterprise Portal. What we need is just to display the Crystal Reports via Enterprise Portal. We have set up the following:
    SAP EP with AD Authentication
SAP EP configured with SNC to SAP BI7 system
SAP BOE XI 3.1 - SAP Integration Kit
BOE Server configured with SAP Authentication via SAP BI7 System
We've also set up BOE IK iviews and URL iviews pointing to existing reports in BOE. However, when we access it from EP, it prompts for a username and login to BOE. Is there a way to configure these so that there is no prompt for login to BOE server and SSO is used? Is it also possible to have a service account (e.g. domain/crystal) that will run the reports in BOE everytime a user accesses a report from SAP EP?
Let me know if this is at all possible

    Hi,
You should configure InfoView for SSO first, which required infoview.xml file modification, using windows AD default authentication. If you want to utilize the OpenDocument URL for iView then you also need to configure OpenDocument.xml file for SSO also. The SAP portal must have trust relation with the SAP BW server so the Windows AD token can be authenticate with SAP BW server.
If you want crystal user to run all the report then you will lose data security. It can be done by hard coding user name and password in the report properties and database logon but the SSO capability can be accomplished only by windows AD, SAP or LDAP.
For more details check BOXI Admin guide and SAP Integration Guide.
    Thanks,
    Muhammad

  • Error Publishing Dynamic Prompt to BOE XI Release 3 From Crystal 2008

I am getting the following error when trying to publish reports with dynamic prompts to        "Failed to read data from report file <file name> Reason: failed to read parameter object".  I found this error occurring in threads referring to previous versions of BOE and none of the solutions are an option to me: I cannot give the user any further rights, and I am unable to apply patches since they are for Crystal XI, rather than 2008.  Is there a solution for this issue?  I found a work around which is to save the report to another source (a shared drive, for example) and then loading it via the Central Management Console.  However, once this is done, when any user attempts to view the report, the report continues to prompt for a username and password, despite having updated this in the Database Configuration and selecting "use same database logon as when report is run".
Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi Heather
I get the same behaviour in this case:
If my report uses a Stored procedure as the datasource AND i use an SQL sommand to create the LOV for dynamic parameter then each time i run the report in infoview it asks for db login info
I think it looks for this info to create the LOV
I created the same report with a table as the datasource and used the exact same command to create the LOV and was able to run the report without a request for db login info.
I also created the report with the SP but with no LOV, the parameter is set to static, and it runs without extra login
I have entered the db login info in CMC for each report before i tried running in infoview
What are your reports using as datasources?

  • Duplicate Object Name Error When Publishing Crystal Reports from BW to BOE

    Hi,
We recently upgraded our systems (all client and server) to SP2.7 in order to solve a problem with saving Crystal Reports to BW.  Now we are experiencing a new error when trying to publish a Crystal Report from BW to BOE (either all in one step from Crystal Reports application or directly from within BW).
Upon trying to publish a Crystal Report from BW to BOE, we get the following error:
"An error occurred while saving and / or publishing.  The return code 1 was returned from the server.  Logon to Crystal Enterprise failed.  Unable to commit the changes to Enterprise.  Reason: Failed to commit objects to server : Duplicate object name in the same folder."
We have repeated this issue numerous time with different reports, users and logon credentials and have verified that there are NOT any duplicate object names.
Additionally, in some cases, the report ultimately publishes to BOE, but with the above error interruption along the way.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Josh

    Ingo,
Apologies for the delayed response.  We've spent a few days poking around with this issue, and had even opened a customer message for it (13641).
In the end, it seems that the problem was somehow associated with the "Prepare this report for translation." flag in the "Save to BW Options" dialog box of Crystal Reports.  If we try to Save & Publish with the Translation flag selected, we get the duplicate entry error.  If we Save & Publish without the Translation flag selected, everything is fine.
There are still some details we need to look into, but for the time being it looks like we don't have an issue anymore(assuming we ever did) as we're not concerned with Translation capabilities.
If we come across the problem again, I'll post again.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • BOE Cluster issue

    Hi
We have 2 BOE servers installed standalone.
    SERVER1:
OS is Windows 2003. BO XI  3.1. We have setup SSO with Windows AD and everything is working fine.
    SERVER2:
OS is HP-UX. BO XI 3.1 is already installed standalone and want to use this for load balancing. CMS and other servers running and point to the same CMS DB as SERVER1.
We just added the SERVER2 node in SERVER1. Now they seem to be clustered. By default the cluster name reamins SERVER1. Now when people login into Infoview or Designer tools and use SERVER1 they are actually going against the cluster. When the request goes to SERVER2 it throws out an plugin error saying that the secWinAD is not found since it is HP-UX. When the request goes to SERVER1 everything works fine.
How do I auhenticate only against SERVER1 using AD and still be able to use the load balancing for other serversa?
If the authentication failes on SERVER2 is it possible to reroute the request to SERVER1? Another option I guess is to custom reinstall on HP-UX and deselect CMS and just install other servers. Will this work?
    Thanks

The AD plugin is not available on any unix/linux server. You just have to stop the CMS and then delete it from the CMC. At that point you will not have a cluster.
What type of SSO are you using (kerberos, trusted auth, etc)?
