BOE XI 3.1 Adaptive Job Server Email Destination

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know if there is a way to enable a secure transport protocol (like TLS) for email destinations on the AdaptiveJobServer?
I was able to setup an email destination and schedule Webi reports successfully, but I was unable to find anything more secure.

I didn't think that it was possible. As far as implementation SMTP over TLS is a possibility although this means more SSL certificates to manage.

In Xi3.1 architecture was changed.
Adaptive Job Server is a java based framework into which various plug-ins can be easily added.
If you go into Adaptive Job server proprties - you will see which ones it run.
Starting with Xi3.1 Webi job server is a plug in inside AJS.
Webi processing (report) server is still a stand alone service.
Admin guide has more details on this new servers (AJS and APS).

BI 4.x : guideline for "Maximum Concurrent Jobs" in Adaptive Job Server

Dear all,
What is the guideline in BI 4.x for the property "Maximum Concurrent Jobs" in the Adaptive Job Server (eg in the Web Intelligence Scheduling Service)
In the XI-versions it was 5 concurrent jobs per CPU.
Is that guideline still applicable in BI 4.x ?

Default value is same for BO 4.0 also. You can adjust based on your requirement.

Schedule a job with email destination in BOXI R2 with email format as html

Hello Guys, would it to possible to schedule a job with email destination in BOXI R2 with email format as html? we are able to get it running with plain text email format. we use Java SDK to interface with BO Enterprise servers.

your job should SMOF_DOWNLOAD can bring new material master if you set up correctly.
as a smart method smof_download is the best way.
doble check your filter condition. it should work as you expected. because we dont involve in manual pulling...
check your variant once again. in vari table,

Crystal Reports Job Server - Default destinations not available

Greetings,
Currently I'm installing Crystal Reports XI onto a new server.
When scheduling reports they are stuck in a 'pending' status which records the following error in the windows event log:
Transport System exception for backend plugin DLL type newIJob():: Couldn't get IJob interface: CORBA exception! Object type is: CrystalEnterprise.Report and detail: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/UserException:1.0
. Details: %2.
After further investigation I discovered the Crystal reports job server has no defaul destinations, however the servers Destination Job Server and Program Job Server do have the default instances.
Firstly I assume the error reported in the event log is due to there are no destinations, as the scheduler won't know where to send out to.
Can anyone help in advising how to ensure the reports server had some default destinations?
I have restarted the server and rebooted the Crystal reports server too.

And please check job server is enabled and under the CMC > Server > Crystal Job Server > RightClick on the server > Destination to File System.
And you can increase the maximun concurrent job value through CMC>Servers>CrystalReportJobServer>Properties.

Email SMTP server setup for Adaptive Job Server

Hi,
I am trying to setup SMTP server to send mails while scheduling webi reports.
I have given Domain name, smtp server name and port number 25.
Once I do schedule, the schedule instance is showing success. But mails are being sent.
Please guide me, how I can solve this issue.

My problem has been resolved.
Regarding that, probably you should check with SMTP server admin.
For me, the shcedule was success but didn't receive mail. I think the SMTP server admins cleared any firewall filters.

What is the Diffrence between Adaptive and Webi Job Server

What is the diffrence between Adaptive Job server and Webi Job server?
In my BO server we didn't have Webi Job server but we are able to schedule the webi reports successfully.
Any Idea on this.

I believe the Adaptive Job Server is on a generic shell server that behave as a Webi Job Server when it processes webi reports, as a program job server when it processes program object etc.

Object failed to run due to an error while processing on the Job Server

when i am scheduling a report ith email notification i am getting below error

i am able to telnet SMTP server from Adaptive job server machine on SMTP port.
have to check errors on log file....

JPO to send email to users from Program Job Server?

I have a java program object in XI R2 SP4 using BO Enterprise SDK APIs that sets the ISMPTOptions for a program job server. For example, I set bogus information for the SMPT server domain, Server name, SMPT user name and password, To Addresses (i.e.user email addresses) for the programjobserver since I'm debugging in an environment that does not have an email server.
When I execute the program, I'm sure that the emails are not being sent to the users but there are no errors reported in the java program or program job server since it executes successfully.
How can I debug this program or progam job server to determine where to find the status of the SMPT email operation?
My audit report in CMC shows no errors for this server and that it executes successfully.

Old school and write everything out in the Java Program Object to System.out - you can view the stdout output by clicking on the instance after it's completed.

Adaptive Processing Server & Report Job Server Stopped

Hi!
I am using BOXI 3.1 on windows server 2003 datacenter and we have a clustered environment. Our most of the reports are Deski reports (1195) out of which around 56 reports are scheduled.
Adaptive processing server, Multidimensional Analysis server & report job server got stuck randomly and the only way left is to stop/start them.
It was happening from last few days and now from today it is not getting started.
I have restarted SIA several times but of no use. Suddenly after 2 hours they are in running stage. I am very confused with the strange behavior of BOXI servers.
Do anyone have clue on this.
This happens always at the time schedule instance start running.

Adaptive processing server, Multidimensional Analysis server & report job server are not used in Deski report procesing at all.
To find out what happens, you need to review Event Viewer logs, enable tracing on this 3 servers.
Or simply stop and disable them to give more resources to your Deski processing

How to configure the crystalreports job server

hi everyone,
we are having crystal reports itself in our cmc .
i am having a scenario where the reports are stored in cmc i am showing you the folder hierarchy how the reports r stored in cmc( daily/eod/ak or fl or az), i am having the specific crystal reports for that particular state in that folder. i want to schedule these crystal reports fro every day. i select file-system as destination for these crystal reports. my scenario is these reports need to be stored on the server(i mean the location of the file-system) under different directories like
/abcd/xyz/crystalreports/daily/eod/ak or
/abcd/xyz/crystalreports/daily/eod/az.
but i am unable to do that, i can see just to point all the crystal reports to one location i.e /abcd/xyz/crystalreports
i did changes to my crystal reports job server by adding file-system to the destination and specified the path were i want to store the reports but i cannot see how to store these crystal reports for different states in different directories on the server(i mean abcd/xyz/crystalreports/daily/eod/az)
we r having boe xi 3.1 sp3 on solaris
we want to schedule crystal reports thats the reason i asked for crystalreports job server

Hi,
If you are talking unmanaged reports (network location) then yes you can do this but if you are talking managed reports (reports stay in CMC) then you can not specify the folder path for the successful instance. The destination will be default enterprise and it will be same folder where the parent report resides, to keep the relationship intact.

Problem with Crystal Report Job Server Destinations

I am using Crystal Reports XI Server and I am having problems with scheduling. I believe that the problem is that I have not enabled any destinations under the Crystal Reports Job Server. The following is an observation list:
-Enabled and set up all destinations for other servers, such as the Destination Server.
-Have been able to use Infoview to directly email, inbox, and file save reports in different formats (I believe the Destination Server controls this, right?)
-All servers are enabled in the Central Configuration Manager
-Have been able to go into the Crystal Reports Job Server within the CMC, but I DO NOT FIND ANY destinations to enable (why is this?)
-Have not been able to schedule an instance of any report (neither email, nor inbox, nor file, ...nothing)
Could somebody please help me with this? Is this a limitation to the Crystal Reports XI Server vs the Enterprise edition? Is there something else I am missing? I have never been able to successfully schedule a report.

I have Crystal Reports XI Server R2 installed as 5 named user license (version that comes with developer)
The following servers are enabled in CMC (which is all of them)
-Input.DomainNameSQL
-DomainNameSQL.cacheserver
-DomainNameSQL.cms
-DomainNameSQL.destinationjobserver (has all destinations enabled)
-DomainNameSQL.eventserver
-DomainNameSQL.ListofValuesJobServer (no destination tab)
-DomainNameSQL.pageserver
-DomainNameSQL.programjobserver (has all destinations enabled)
-DomainNameSQL.RAS
-DomainNameSQL.reportjobserver (has destinations tab, but there are no destination entries to enable! Object type is: CrystalEnterprise.Report and detail: IDL:omg.org/CORBA/UserException:1.0

These are the ONLY two event IDs that appear after I schedule the report instance. No other events occur.
Are there any other logs that I can check? How do I look up what event ID 45387 and 45385 are?

Data Services 4.0 Job Server ODBC DB2 library error

I have followed the instructions in the SBO 401 DS Admin Guide for configuring ODBC data sources on UNIX. I have gotten the unixODBC part working from the LINUX DS Job server host using isql DNS UID PWD. I am able to connect to the DB2 9.7 UDB server and I run queries successfully. My problem is when I go to submit a column profile request I get the following error back in the profiler monitor:
ErrorSystem call <LoadLibrary> to load and initialize functions failed for <libdb2.so>. Ensure the shared library is installed and located correctly.
This library is contained in the /opt/sapds/DB2_Conn/odbc_cli/clidriver/lib directory which is contained in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH. I have these 2 entries in the ds_odbc.ini file:

Driver = /opt/sapds/DB2_Conn/odbc_cli/clidriver/lib/libdb2.so
[DB2]
Description = IBM DB2 Adapter

There is a troubleshooting section in the admin guide that states "To determine whether all dependent libraries are set properly in the environment variables, you can use the ldd command on the ODBC driver manager library and the ODBC driver library."
For example: ldd tdata.so
Is this a real thing to check or just an example?

I believe that the DB2 ODBC DNS is working correctly because I can connect and run queries from the server host.
Does anyone have an idea on what I might check to get this working? Should I open up a support message for further help? Let me know, thanks.
Additionally, we have our Oracle profiler job working without issue.
But, we are having another issue in the Data Services Designer when leaving the options screen we get the following error:
"The Job Server in not responding. Cannot save modifications to the job execution options. Make sure the Job Server is running and accessible from the Designer, and then make make your changes again. (BODI - 1260016)." I do not think that this is related to running the DB2 profiler jobs because, as I said we can run Oracle jobs without issue.

No users on box apart from me and get this even after stop/start SIA.

Report Job Server - Maximum Jobs Allowed

We would like to increase our simultaneous report jobs per Report Job Server. We currently have 4 CPUs and the Deployment and Configuration Guide says the 'Supported Load' is 5 reports per CPU so we should only run 20 reports simultaneously. Our CPU usage is very low and we'd like to increase the Maximum Jobs Allowed on the Job Servers, but I don't know what the consequences would be to our servers. Has anyone gone above the 'Supported Load' numbers for simultaneous report jobs per Report Job Server? How high could I go without having problems?

There is no definite answer on this. The Maximum Jobs Allowed setting depends very much on your environment. If you have reports that run quickly you could increase it. Also, do you have a high concurrency of jobs? The fact that the CPU time is low means either that your Job Server (CR, DeskI) or Web Intelligence Report Server (WebI) is waiting for results from the database OR that there are simply no reports or not even 1 report per Job Server to process at this time. If you run 1 report and you see 25% CPU usage in the task manager on a quad core machine, means that the Job Server uses up the resources on one core fully.
