Hi SDNs
Can any body let me know When is BOE XI 3.1 SP3 will be available. I went through all over service.sap.com. But could not find the avaialbale date. I read it is going to be released in Q1 2010. But I am looking for exact date.

Problem at installation FixPack 3.3 on BOE XI 3.1 SP3

Hi Colleagues.
When I try to install FixPack 3.3 on BOE XI 3.1 SP3, I have a problem-progress of installation is stoped on 17% in phase "Running Post Install Actions".
You can see the last strings in setup's log file (BusinessObjects_FP_3_3.12.3.log):

I think installation process could't to stop SIA and therefore could't go to next phase of installation.
OS is HP-UX v.11. Also I have a installed BOE XI 3.1 SP3. User for BOE in UNIX is "boeadm".
I started installation by root. Maybe the problem in this?
Maybe I should was to start installation by user "boeadm"?

Well to answer my own question it looks like you do need to run the repair as the same user that did the original install.
/srv/sap/sap_bobj/ccm.sh -stop all 2>&1

After running as the correct user I get this:

Where I can get the SDK update in BOE XI 3.1 SP3?

Hi Guys,
My boss wants to me to outline the SDK update in BOE XI 3.1 SP3, but I can't find any resource about it.
Till now, I only know there are new API provided in Lov, but how about other functions?

Please follow the mentioned steps :
1. Visit the above mentioned portal.
2 .Click on the SAP Business Objects tab on the top of the page.
3. Afterwards click on the BI Solutions tab located at the left hand side of the window.
4. Click on the SAP BusinessObjects Solution Portfolio Knowledge Center link mentioned within the window .

The supported platform guide for BOE XI 3.1 SP3 says its supports RHEL 5.0

The patch need to be above RHBA-2007:0619-3

10.31GA Weblogic is not supported by BOE integration Kit BOE XI 3.1 SP3

Hi Team,
I have successfully installed BOE XI 3.1 SP3 in our Windows System during the set I have selected the Web Logic domain
of 10.31 GA location. After that I was trying to install the Integration Kit for this also I have selected the automatic Deploy option and Web Logic domain of 10.31 GA location but the Kit shows that Incompatible WebLogic version but I went ahead installed Integration Kit. Kit shown that successfully installed message. But Not even single Apps is deployed under WebLogic Deployments . Could you please advise on this?

First of all, there is no reason to start with Xi3.1 SP3. If you're just starting deployment, you should go with Xi3.1 Sp5. Way too many bugs are fixed since Sp3.
As to the deployment issue, use wdeploy to predeploy all apps for weblogic, then use WL console to deploy those into WL.
The process is described in the WebApplications deploy guide.
This manual process is more reliable vs. auto deploy during setup.

Which version of Websphere Application Server for BOE XI 3.1 SP3?

Hi,
We are planning to migrate from BOE XI R2 to BOE XI 3.1 SP3 and we have to decide which application server would be the best choice. In a document "SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 3.1 SP3 for Windows u2013 Supported Platforms" WebSphere Application Server 6.1.0.7 is mentioned as one of supported application servers. What about versions following 6.1.0.7, are they also supported?

Hi Ingo,
I'm Experiencing the same issue described here. My situation is the following. I have a webi report on top of an OLAP universe where the bex queries were running in BW 3.5. Later the client upgraded the system to BW 7.01 SP6 and when trying to re run the webi report it started to fail. I then activated to logging to see what the problem could be and found this error. It looks to me that a dimension is giving the error. Any tips to understand this log?

CMS report service not installed during installation of BOE XI 3.1 SP3

Hi,
Our current deployment is Windows 2008 64 bit / MySQL.
During the installation, I got the error "The Central Management Server has failed to start. Press 'Retry' to attempt to start it again or 'Cancel' to skip any actions dependent on the Central Management Server. STW00213." I pressed 'Retry', but did not help, so 'Cancel' to continue.
After I got the message "BOE 3.1 has been successfully installed", I went to CMS, and saw only 2 servers (Tomcat and WinHTTP Web Proxy).
How do I get Report application service?

Please add your hostname and ip address in the <WIndows installation directory>\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file and try to reinstall. Make sure that you are using an account that is part of the Locla administrators group to do the installation. If possible deactivate temporarily any virus scanner and firewall running on your server.

Installing BOE xi 3.1 sp3 on QA

hi everyone, we are having everything setup for dev environment.Right now we need to install boe on QA.
My question is: Do i need to have the permissions in CMS repository(oracle database) to create the cms tables to install QA BOE or can i move the tables(CMS_INFOOBJECTS6,.. etc) from dev environment . If we move the tables from dev to qa will the boe server works perfectly or is it mandatory to create the tables by the bo itself when installing boe.
And i use lcm to migrate the objects(reports, users) from dev to qa

You're MUCH better off using the install to create new tables and then using LCM or the Import wizard to move stuff up from your dev environment.
The database doesn't contain the actual files - those are stored on disk in the Input and Output File Store folders - it just stores pointers to them. Also, many of the system objects (servers, etc.) have the machine name included in them. Since your QA system will be on a different server than your dev system, nothing will work because it won't have the right names.

RCIRAS0546 Error - Unable to Export a Crystal Report from BOE XI (SP3) 3.1

Hello,
We have just upgraded to Crystal Reports 2008 (from Crystal Reports 10) and BOE XI 3.1 sp3 (from Crystal Enterprise 10). The reports created in CR 10 open and generate just fine from within CR 2008, and they are saved to BOE XI. When I view the CR from within BOE XI web gui, the report displays fine in Crystal Report format. When I attempt to export the report to .pdf, I get the error "Your request could not be completed because a failure occurred while the report was being processed. Please contact your system administrator. [RCIRAS0546]" I tried exporting the report to Word, Excel, RTF, and CSV and did not get any error. Adobe Reader IS loaded on the server (we are running direct on server right now to test before deploying over web).
This does not happen with all of our reports, and we can't figure out why it happens with some and not others. Another thread on the forum led me to believe it may have been due to subreports, but this is not the case as the reports that error sometimes have subreports, sometimes not. Some reports have formulas, some do not. I can't find the common design between them to cause this issue.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!
(FYI - I've changed the default Input and Output directory of the servers from the default C drive to the D drive as it is larger. I simply overwrote the placeholder and ensured the folder path existed - which it does. Not sure if this applies. I also pointed the temp directory to the same D location)

Missing jar - BOE XI3.1 SP3 IG Kit for PeopleSoft with client comp option

Hi Team,
I have successfully installed BOE XI 3.1 SP3 in our Linux m/c and while installing Integration Kit for PeopleSoft in Windows m/c selected with Client Computer option the Kit shown the message unable to find pscafinstall.jar from BusinessObjects_Home\Common\Java\Lib directory.
Could you please advise why this error happening, how to resolve this and the impact of this error?

Try doing a complete install, and make sure you're running the install on all the necessary machines. There is content to be installed on your CMS as well as your application server at least. Is this all on a single box? Are you sure the name of the jar you're specifying is correct? There is a partnercafinstall.jar and a cafinstall.jar that the installer will install.

BOE xi 3.1 Clustering not working

We are using boe xi 3.1 sp3 on solaris
i installed boe on uat server A and i installed boe on server b
I did custom installation to cluster the server B with server A.Everything looks fine fo far, both the servers are up and running.
we did some testing on how this clustering works, by manually bringing the server A down by using the cmc.Good thing is we are still able to login into server A(which is down). but when we are trying to execute the reports manually on server B(which is up) by going to that cmc url or executing the reports which are in server A( i mean the same reports on server B as well) we are able to execute the reports on that server but we are getting failed message( i mean not success).
this is the error i am getting on both urls:

do we need to do any extra settings on the servers in order to work? what are we missing?

Make sure that the file repository servers are sharing the same file repository.
Note that you cannot have the input FRS on server A configured to use a file repository located locally on Server A and the input FRS on Server B configured to use a file repository located locally on Server B. The same is a valid also for the Output File repository servers.
A solution is to mount a common remote file system on both your servers and configure the IFRS and OFRS to use the local path to the mount point.

QaaWS End Point Support in XI 3.1 SP3

Based on the BOE XI 3.1 SP3 Supported Platforms documentation, Xcelsius Query As A Web Services EndPoint is no longer supported for WebLogic 10.3, WebSphere 7, Oracle App Server, or Tomcat 6. Does anyone know if this support will be "restored" in a 3.x FixPack or SP4 ?

MDX code in XI 3.1 SP3 universes for time-related metrics

Hi all,
I have a multiprovider in BW 7.01 and I have installed BOE XI 3.1 SP3, integration kit and all.
I need to calculate a metric (Sales Price) in this manner:
after selecting a period (month/year), for a customer, in a sales centre (both customer and centre are optional conditions).
I need to calculate these different values for the given metric:
- value for the period and for the same period of previous year, plus difference between both values
- accumulated value from january until selected period, same for previous year and difference between both values
- rolling sum of 12 periods up to selected period, same for previous year and difference between both values
And all of them according to different dimensions, such as geography, age, type, etc...
For reasons of volume, abstraction capabilities, etc. we need to use a multiprovider.
In your expert opinion, what would be the best approach for this?
Would you edit the universe and create new objects using MDX functions, such as PERIODSTODATE, etc.? If so, have you ever tried it? could you suggest a syntax, taking into account we don't have the MDX wizard yet in 3.1 SP3?
Is there some other approach that you've used, such as using formulas in Web Intelligence?

I found a workaround for the issue by patching and compiling the Axis2 kernel library. You need to download it form Apache, install Maven 2.0.7, set the default timeout in .../client/Options.java to a value that suits your needs (for me: 20min), and compile the whole thing using mvn clean install.
But this is obviously not the solution one wants. So, is there anybody with a REAL answer to the problem?

According to the 'Update Installation and Deployment Guide - SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.1 Service Pack 4', BOE XI 3.1 SP4 installation does not support FP 3.5. I think I will be able to upgrade by the following steps. Are they correct?
1. Uninstall BO Explorer XI 3.2 SP2 Fix Pack1 (completely remove BO Explorer).
2. Uninstall BO XI 3.1 Integration Kit for SAP SP3 Fix Pack5 (go back to BO XI 3.1 Integration Kit for SAP SP3).
3. Uninstall BOE XI 3.1 SP3 Fix Pack5 (go back to BOE XI 3.1 SP3).
4. Install BOE XI 3.1 SP4.
5. Install BO XI 3.1 Integration Kit for SAP SP4.
6. Install BO Explorer XI 3.2 SP3.
