BOFC 7.5 multiserver environment

Hey experts,
i need your help. I'm trying to install SAP BOFC 7.5 on a multiserver environment (database server on a machine, application and webserver on another one). Is there any documentation about this kind of installation for BOFC? The installation guide i have just include the standalone installation.
Please somebody give me a tipp...
Thanks in advance
Dany

Hi Dany
In my mind there is nothing special between installation on seperate database server. You just have to notice that it will not work with domain users. You have to create a special user on the sql server.

  • Send Governor hanging issue on multiserver environment

    HI Experts,
We really don't know how to overcome this send governor issue, in two days servers bounced 6 times to fix the send governor hanging isue.
we are on BPC 7 MS, SP5, Multiserver environment(Two appservers and one database server)we have been using the prod system for 6 months without any issues, recently we extended the logic to execute for more periods, then started facing the issue of one of the appserver goes down automatically (most of the times appserver02) while users send data using input shchedules and sometimes we see the locks in lckapp table, during this time users can't loginto the system untill restart the com+ services ,send governor service and teboot of servers.
we are able to clear out the locked members from lckapp tables and users are able to resend it.
why does appserver go down automatically ? what should be the reason ? How to fix this kind of issue?
any help should be appreciated greatly!
    Thanks

    Hi,
I think here we are speaking about performances and design of application.
I don't think doing an upgrade will solve your problem because I don't know any fix for SG after SP5.
How are you running the logic?
Do you have DM package or we are speaking about default logic?
Do you have multiple users running the lDM packages with logic?
Do you have the logic schedule?
Do you have lite optimize schedule? How often?
Answers to all these questions will provide you a better information regarding the root cause of this issue.

  • Multiserver environment account

What is the best practise as to choosing an account that will be used to set up a multiserver environment? For instance, I'm the DBA my account is an sa in most servers. Should I use my domain account? What about when I leave the company. What is the recommendation?
I understand the different groups under msdb and that the target servers will be added there once enlisted. My question is in regards to the account used logged on the master server to enlist and later create the msx jobs.
Couldn't find anything useful in the literature.
    Thanks
    Paula

    Hello Paula,
The recommendation is to use different domain account as a service account for the different SQL Server services (Engine, Agent, AS, etc.). This account should be setup with minimum permissions. For reference use
this link. If you are worried for the setup itself - it does not matter - the important thing is to run the installation process with an account that has enough permissions on the operating system layer (like Local Admin for instance :-) ) and also point
out a sysadmin account (and/or sa password if you use Mixed authentication). Once installed, sysadmin accounts can be changed, I usually use one domain group, that I grant sysadmin permissions over all SQL Servers and then only administer the AD group membership
instead of going over all SQL Servers.

  • Event Gateways in Multiserver Environment

    Hi all
As a company we are looking to deploy a Flex application
    using 'push' messaging.
The backend is a multiserver Coldfusion 8 setup behind a load
balancer. My concern is around the multiserver setup while using
event gateways. If a client consumes from a particular gateway on a
particular server, and a CF process on
another server produces for a gateway on it's server how
will the data push occur thus updating all clients consuming from
    the gateways on
    all servers.
I'm afraid we will have to get the CF process on one server
produce for it's own gateway and we'll have to get all clients to
consume from that gateway - thus not allowing us to spead the load
across all CF servers using thier own gateways in the multi-server
    environment.
Am I missing something here? This area appears to be fairly
new, so any and all comments appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Ciaran

  • Bad Performance on SQL 2005 multiserver installation

We have upgraded our server environment from  a single server solution with SQL 2000 and are now running on a multiserver solution with one DB server with SQL 2005 and two applictionservers.
And now we are experience a much slower performance in our new environment on all EVDRE reports. Is there anyone who know about any issue with a multiserver environment or SQL 2005 that makes the reports slower?
In our more advanced report with "expand by sheet" that took about 1 minute to expand on our old environment can take up to 10 minutes to expand in our new environment.
Both servers are running BPC 5.1 SP5 patch 1

The SQL Server version is very good and the performance problems should not come from there.
Please make sure you check the document from sd regarding
SAP_BPC_Performance_Tuning_Guide.doc to be sure you have the right configuration for OLAP and SQL and also application server.
Can you please provide an information regarding what kind of configuration do you have into this multiserver environment?
It is important also nr. of processors and memory for each server.
Do you have a maintenance plan for your SQL server database?
If you don't have that can cause again a big problem regarding performances.
Please run into management studio exec sp_updatestats for you database to be sure that you have at least update statistics.
So all these things mentioned before should be managed carefully to be sure that you have good performances into system.
From application point of view make sure that you schedule lite optimize to be sure that you don't have more than 40000 rows into wb table.

  • Posting Journal Entry in v4.2SP4: Strange Issue. Anyone?

    Behaviour:
The post button doesn't work. You can click it but it does nothing
When opening the journal manager and selecting the journal id and then posting, it says: "You cannot post/unpost until finishing journal post"
After this, you cannot post any journal entry on any application.
    (multiserver environment)
    Has anyone had this behaviour?

    Hello Muhd
Please could you go in Administartion > Set Up > Fixed assets > GL
Account Detemination and check the settings of  'Clearing Acc. Asset
Acquisition' account, which is used when creating Journal Entry for
    'Acquisition without vendor'.
Could you check if there is a 'Default VAT Code' assigned to this
account. In this case could you to clear the Default VAT Code assigned
to this account and try to do 'Acquisition without vendor' again?
Also, please try to check below option to see if that could help:
    1)Check asset Class Land
    2)Check GL accounts settings
3)Check the checkbox "Permit Other VAT Group"

  • Process error BPC 7.5

    Hi
I receive an error when processing a dimension:
    The error:
      - Exception error has occurred; check the log ID = 91 for more details
Where can I find the mentioned log?

    Hi Jesper,
    Have you solved this issue?
I had the same error message few days ago, and i solved it by installing data connectivity driver for office 2007 to my appserver.
If you have not solved it yet, you might wanna try to install the driver to your appserver (all appserver if you're in multiserver environment).
    Hope helps,
    Thanks,

  • BPC Database Recovery Instructions

    Hi Experts,
We are using BPC 7.5 Microsoft version with multiserver environment having BPC Application Server on one machine and using Shared Database server located on other machine, we have configured a database Instance for BPC databases on shared database server.
We have gone through SAP Note u201C1455212 - Best practices for BPC MS backupu201D and as per u201CBacking up Microsoft SQL Server databases and filesu201D section of this note we are taking full database backup daily for the BPC instance and tlog backup in every 4 hours.
We would like to know the instructions to migrate our BPC DB/OLAP/RS to different server in a DR (disaster recovery) scenario or rebuilt DB/OLAP/RS server with the help of backup files.
    Please Advice.

  • "the specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted"

    Dear Experts,
I made an installation of BPC 7.0 MS SP04 in a multiserver environment. Installation process terminated correctly. My installation user  is a domain user, and he's also local Administrator on my  Web/Application Server.
I simply want to add a domain user to my ApShell: so I log on to ApShell with my installation user, then I click to "add a new user".
When I try to click on "Available domain [domain name]" to see domain resources,  popup appears with the following message: "the specified domain either does not exists or could not be contacted".
I cannot browse in to the domain!
    Additional information:
1.The domain has been added from BPC server manager ->define system user group->domain
2.The BPC server are in the same domain to which this domain user belongs .
    3. I can browse the domain resources with installation user from Appl/Web server using start->control panel-> Administrative tools-> Component Services->Active directory.
    4. It's possible also add another domain user on the security of any folder.
    5. I restarted COM+ application "OSoftUserManage"
    6. We have another multi server installation in the same domain, the installation user is the same, there is no problem about AD browsing.
    Any help would be appreciated.

I opened a case with Microsoft and this problem has been fixed!
The issue was that I had both a Preferred DNS server (my local DNS server) and an Alternate DNS server (8.8.8.8, which I added for "good measure" in my ignorance) listed on the server.  Removing the Alternate DNS server fixed the problem.
(Control panel/Network and Sharing Center/Change Adapter settings
Right click on your connection, choose properties.
Click on TCP/IPv4 (unless you are using IPv6...) and choose properties
Make sure there is only a Preferred DNS server listed.)
Why redundancy is not a good idea is a mystery to me, but in this case it isn't.

  • Experience with APO World Wide System

    Dear Experts,
Please let me know if you any one of you has an experience in having the APO as a world wide system in the your organization. If so please share your experience.
    Thanks,
    Siva.

    Siva,
There is not much to say.  SAP is designed to be expandable.  If you have ever set up SAP to run in more than one physical location, you already know what the issues are.  Multiply that effort by 'X'.
There is a culture shock for IT if they have never run a 24X7X365 operation before.  The business has to reevaluate the so-called 'night jobs', and decide when (or if) they should be run.  Since it is typically difficult to exclude users for any length of time in a true worldwide environment, hardware requirements may need to be reevaluated - do you have enough horsepower to run all the interactive sessions (which never cease) as well as the background jobs - simultaneously.  Basis has to step up here, trying to allocate active processes amongst the various servers (oh yeah, you will probably need to use a multiserver environment under SAP load balancing)

  • Slow logins to kanaka server 2.8 on oes 11 sp1

    Good Evening All.
We have a new server system build for our school division.
It is a multiserver environment under one tree.
the problem is our mac experience.
Kanaka 2.8 works fine when we test with one or two users.
But when we try a lab of users at once we get a huge delay in logins.
the delay is in excess of 20 minutes.
I am wonder if the problem is in our tree structure.
We have one main server at the top of the tree and 7 servers under it. each server represents a school.
Kanaka is installed at the top server of the tree structure. When we tried installing it in a server of a school we got errors.
Please advise and i can give you more details as needed.

I am trying to understand the layout of the network and tree a little more.
Is it using a o and than 7 ou's under that contain 1 server per ou for each
building I am assuming. How is the layout for the wan if it is separate
    buildings?
What are the servers running? OES ??

  • BPC on Virtual server

    Hello all,
We are running a multiserver environment SAP BPC 5.1 sp3. With 4 different appservers / webbservers.
    and 2 db/analysis servers.
The question i got if its possible to run the app/webbervers/database on vmware?
The question is kinda of interesting becasue the system is used 95% during the reporting time and almost goes to idle when the reporting is over. Maybe there are some savings here but this is just a thought.
Is there a simple answer to thi question or?.
    Best Regards
    Jojo

5 - 10% performance loss, at a 60 - 80% server-room cost reduction, is a pretty good trade-off! Not to mention the standard VM benefits in terms of disaster recoverability, etc.
I'd only recommend it in a serious test or production environment if the client already has made a significant VM investment in their entire IT infrastructure, and is ready to handle all the infra issues, IT training, etc.
It's more a false economy if the VM setup is only for the BPC application, and not a dedicated IT strategy -- and I wouldn't want a project that I was on, to be the IT test case to see if VM can save a few dollars.

  • Distributing connections

Just to save up my time testing the following I'm gonna ask it here because I know you guys know the answer anyway :)
Q: Can I pass on socket via RMI?
Description : My server receives client connection via ServerSocket. I need to distribute that socket directly to other computer in the LAN. What happens if I send the socket(object) to another computer, does the client get disconnected when it notices that server IP has changed? What about if the distributed environment is behind NAT so that the client doesn't know which computer behind the NAT it is currently talking with? I don't know how socket is handled at ip stack level or how NAT reacts to ip shift. Is Java too high level language for this kind of purpose? What do you consider the best way to distribute multiclient connections in a multiserver environment?
Thanks in forward for all the answers :)

Passing objects that implement serializable is possible, no matter what object it is. However, sockets use parts of the native system which some parts will NOT be the same for each machine. When you create a network connection, no matter which protocol used, will translate the IP into a MAC address. MAC addresses are globally unique (well pretty much globally). This means that machine A sends the Socket object to machine B, machine B will not be able to use the socket object sent in any way. This renders the whole operation useless.
