BOi versus SAP ICH
Hello,
I just discover the SAP application called ICH (Inventory Collaboration Hub). It's a platform that allows to link system from supplier to a SAP R/3 system
It seems some transaction are equivalent with B1I.
Have you heard something about this application ?
Thank you for your answers
Sebastien
Sebastien,
I do not have a comparison between these products as I am not familiar with SAP ICH. Possibly there is a forum for that in the R/3 forum where you could pose the same question and get a response.

SAP ICH in the SCM system is capable of publishing pages in web application
Experts,
We have one critical requirements where in we have to suggest customer that whether SAP ICH in the SCM system is capable of publishing pages in web application or not.
In detail... in our customer land scape SCM is the central planning tool and there are two type of users, one type of users have direct access to SCM system where they can directly do thier demand planning, the second type of users only have access to the web application called "extranet", from which they want to see the published planning guidelines and based on that they also wants to create the demand planning (from the web application - extranet). My question is whether SAP Inventory Collaboration Hub will do for this requirement? Do we need an Enterprise Portal to facilitate this functionality? Please advice. Very impartant and critical for delivery by tomorrow. Thanks in advance.
Warm Regards,
KrishnanHi Krishnan,
From your query I understood that a set of DP users access the system from external location over web.
SAP gives a solution ,using BSP web pages, to expose the SAP screens as its seen through the SAPGui's. They look similar to the standard only difference is it will be embedded in the browser. Unfortunately SAP was recommending this technology, they has plans to retire this technology as the Portal would suffice this requirement. So to answer your query the portal is a viable solution to your requirement.
ICH cannot help you because it does not give the functionality of DP, instead its a application for collaboration between the entities (manufacturer & supplier or customer). -
SAP ICH Multi ship to location scenario in POC
Hi All,
In SAP ICH 5.0 Purchase Order collaboration scenario it possible to map Purchase Order having more than one ship to location?
For example:Purchase Order having Purchase Organization say X and ship to location Y and Z both Y and Z are Production plant in SAP ICH.
Is it possible to create PO with Purchase organization X and ship to location Y, Z both are Production plant in SAP ICH 5.0?
Thanks,
NikhilHi Nikhil,
Can you please let me know where we mentioned the "ship to location" during PO creation.
Thanks and regards,

Hi!
Does someone know the main differences between BW-BPS and SAP APO. When should I pick one tool and when the other.
Best Regards,
Teresa.BW-BPS and APO are very different products.
BW-BPS tend to be high level or generic planning and occassionally detailed level planning. Some common planning applications to be developed are Sales Planning, Inventory Planning, Profitability Planning, CCA/PCA planning, Financial statement planning, etc.
APO is more Supply Chain Management for production or demand planning with MRP and capacity checking.... -
Different behavour of MAM application when starting via NWDS versus SAP MI
Hello,
We have MAM25 installed and running and have implemented some modification. When I run and test the application from the NWDS everything works fine. But when I restart my laptop and I'm NOT using NWDS and start the mobile client and test the (already deployed) application from there, then the application is behaving differently some functionality that is created is working different.
It looks like that the mobile client is started with different startup parameters. Does anyone has the same experience? Is the Mobile client started differently from NWDS (via run application)? If yes, why?
Hope some one can help me?
Regards,
RyanHello Julien,
Thanks for your answer. But I'm not sure how to check the classpath and the startup class. may you can help me:
In nwds I see that when I run the application the main class is: com.sap.ip.me.mdk.api.runtime.Start and the arguments are: "-home:C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure" -trace -url:MAM25_V30/start -app:jsp. The class path from MAM is set to:
<classpathentry kind="src" path="java"/>
<classpathentry kind="var" path="JRE_LIB" rootpath="JRE_SRCROOT" sourcepath="JRE_SRC"/>
<classpathentry kind="lib" path="C:/Program Files/SAP Mobile Infrastructure/lib/db2ejdbc.jar"/>

<classpathentry kind="output" path="app-root/WEB-INF/classes"/>
When I run the application the following information message appears in nwds:
MOBILE INFRASTRUCTURE 7.0 SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED **********
ME started with 'FrameworkInitializer' class and user 'rdou01'
When I start the mobile client using startup.bat. I see that the classpath variables are defined in the file listofjars.txt and set during startup. In these file I added the same path as mentioned before in nwds. Also in the same order. When I start startup.bat and I check the results in the doc command box. I see that the same librarie are loaded.
Still the application behaves different. Is there something else that I can check?

Some features of BI 7 are
1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too.

SAP TALENT MANAGEMENT V/S NAKIS
Hello,
I am trying to prepare a document on SAP TLT MGT v/s Nakisa...
I am aware of entire talent mgt modules in sap but trying to figureout things in Nakika.
can anybody help with suitable links or docs available with you.
cheers
md
Moderator message: not directly related to ABAP development, please don't ask for documents, search for available information.
Edited by: Thomas Zloch on Apr 6, 2011 1:10 PMHi Mohammad,
I moved your thread to the correct forum. I am assuming that you are referring to STVN SuccessionPlanning.
Basically, Nakisa is not versus SAP Talent Management but is part of SAP Talent Management. STVN SuccessionPlanning is SAP's solution for succession planning and is part of their portal-based application strategy. Without this you will have to do succession planning activities in the backend and will also not have functionalities such as 9-box grid and profile match.

Hi BI-experts!
Can some one please recommend some practical examples/case studies to gain practical experience with SAP BI?
- Data modelling/procurement and Reporting
- Integrated Planing
- BW based Consolidation
Also other web sources, SAP books will be very appreciated.
I already went through the first example "From the Data Model to the BI Application in
the Web" and SAP courses SAP BW305 and 310.
Any helpful information will be very appreciated.
Thank you very much!

Hi BI Experts,
I am planning to get into SAP BI , currently workig on SAP ABAP from past 3.5 years. So please guide me how to get into.
Regards,
KaliHi Kali,
I suggest you to go for training provided by SAP Labs on SAP BI 7.0 which helps u lot. As you are experienced in ABAP, you might have known all such things. If you want to have a kick start what are the things you need to concentrate on, i can suggest you. ABAP + BW is a good combination. If you know BW along with ABAP, market also prfers the same combination.
For BW 3.5, refer this help link from SAP:

Hi,
We are running SAP. We have SAP BW 3.50, and we are planning to implement it next year.
How do you size SAP BW. If we have X amount of input data. How many X amount of data will be in BW. In other words what is the database explosion factor.
What are the things we need to consider when sizing BW?
For example we have a six dimensional sales analysis cube, pulling data from SAP SD. We want subsecond reporting performance, so is it possible to aggregate all the data? I would expect a database explosion factor of about 70 with full aggregation. What do you think?
Thanks,
Al Lal

P.S. I come from the OLAP world, and my experience is primarily with Hyperion Essbase, although I have spent a little time with TM1 and also MS Anlalysis Services. So if anyone has any questions in my area of expertize, feel free to email me.Hi,
for startup:
Bi sizing means before buying the server, you should have knowledge how much data will be loaded into the server.
There is a document called "quick sizer". This document is used by basis people. This document contains several questions regarding the amount of data that will be loaded. The role of Bi consultant is that he should take that document and ask the client the question that is given in document.
EX: 1. Number of cube,
2. No of dimensions
3. Amount of master data per month
4, Amount of transaction data per month
5, No of users.

Are there any rough sizing guidelines for BI in SAP NetWeaver 2004s?
Note that any possible sizing is done by the hardware vendor. The SAP QuickSizer assists you with this task. The QuickSizer currently contains ABAP and Java Sizing information (for Java, see SAP Note 927530), and we are working on an extension for the BI Accelerator.
If you want to use the BI Accelerator on an existing implementation, see SAP Note 917803. If you plan to install a Unicode system, the additional requirements for Unicode are described in this document (SMP login required).
For more information, see the Performance homepage in SAP Service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com/bi --> Performance). You can find a comparison of resource consumption for BW3.5 versus SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI. This presentation shows that there is no increased demand on resources when upgrading to SAP NetWeaver 2004s (given the same functionality).
For factors to be considered :
As far as Hardware sizing, the following factors are relevant:
The data volume (initial and recurring loads)
The number of users in the system
The number of (concurrent) queries and workbooks you are going to run
The frequency of data loading activities, and maintenance activities
As far as performance, factors that will improve your perfromance are:
Design your cubes wisely (balancing dimensions, dimension tables size, line item dimensions etc')
Deploy and mantain aggregates
Restricting the usage of Virtual Key Figures
Regularily fill the OLAP cache with query results
Regular Administration of data targets - Indexes, Statistics, Compression etc'
At the end of the day, the important thing is to make sure you and your users agree on the required performance.
For sizing use the tool provided by SAP at http://service.sap.com/quicksizer.

Share the cluster with a non-SAP application
Hi,
We need to install the SAP Systems on existing Oracle Cluster Environment (10g).
The scenario is there is an existing Oracle cluster which the client is using for different applications,we need to use the same existing Oracle cluster (RAC) to setup the SAP Systems.
So what we would like to do is to share an already existing non-SAP application on RAC with a new ( to be installed) SAP System.
Can someone guide me what are the pre-requisites and process for this kind of installation? The SAP Installation is on Linux environment.
