BOINC Manager, where is it?

Is it me or is the BOINC Manager not installed with BOINC?
WxGTK is a dependency, so one would expect it to be there, but it seems to be missing.
Unless I'm an idiot and I'm overlooking something...

I asked this question soon after I got the Turbo also.  Not sure why they left out the ability to see your own files on your own device.  I had several Samsungs before and they all had a "My File" app included.  I would rather have the app on the OS than download on the Play Store and have ads and who knows what kind of permissions to give the developer just so you can look at your own files.  This definitely should have been in the base OS.

  • Trouble adding a new project in BOINC Manager

    Hello,
I have downloaded and installed Boinc from the official Arch repository. I followed this guide https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/BOINC step by step. I can successfully run the Boinc GUI via the command
    boincmgr
, but when I try to add a new project I receive this error
    execvp(/home/paul/boinc, --redirectio, --launched_by_manager) failed with error 2!
in the terminal. Boinc Manager also repeatedly tells me that it has unexpectedly exited but that it has successfully recovered every minute or so.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated and feel free to ask for any information.
    Thanks.

  • Oracle EM and OVM management--where to start?

We are interested in evaluating EM for OVM control, but after a quick glance through the docs it's by no means clear how to start. We have not used EM before this and it's a daunting prospect.
What I'm interested to know is:
    1. What is the minimum amount of parts I need to download and install to get OVM management under EM working for a simple environment?
    2. Does it really require a full oracle DB installation or will it work with XE?
    3. What plugins and agents etc. are/are not required?
It looks simple enough on paper but the EM framework has an enormous amount of apparatus most of which it seems we don't need.
    Any pointers greatly appreciated!

First this is such task where you will learn more but sorry to say it will also take Time. This is not one/two days task.
    Yes how to start

  • G500 fan slow/ overheating? Power Manager- where is it?

    Hi everyone,
My fan appears to be on a low setting, and I want to be able to turn it up as the base is quite warm. I suspect this mainly because when I put my hand near the cooling vent there seems to be less air coming out of it than before, I'm not sure why this is.
I looked at power settings, but there are only generic settings.
I read that you should download The seperate Power Manager app, to change the settings- I downloaded it- then extracted it but where is the Power Manager supposed to open? I can't see any icon for it. It's not in the solution centre either. It looks like some sort of driver, but how am I supposed to access it?
    Regards

    Hi Dragonsfire1981,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
I’m sorry to hear that the Fan & LEM (Lenovo Energy Management) is not working as expected and not displaying the User Interface in your G500 Laptop, please try to access the LEM by clicking on Start and type Energy Management if not I would suggest you to re-install LEM and to un-install the LEM click on the “Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features”, then below is the link to download the exact LEM for the computer and when installing the LEM right click on the downloaded file and select “Run as administrator” option to install it without any error and please perform “Dust Removal” feature present in LEM:

  • In Solution Manager, where can I find the SRM 7.0 Configuration Guide?

Please give me directions on how to download the SRM 7.0 configuration guide within Solution Manager, these documents are not available on the service marketplace.  We have sol manager 4 I believe, it's not sol manger 7.0.
Also, if you could send me the guide at matt.joseph at thq.com that would save me from losing more time trying to figure out Solution Manger
    Thanks for your help.
    Matt

    Matt,
    1. Log on to your SAP Solution Manager system.
    2. To be able to access configuration documentation, create a project as follows:
    1. Create your project with transaction SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN for project administration.
    2. Connect your SAP system to SAP Solution Manager with transaction SMSY for the SAP Solution Manager system landscape.
    3. Create a project structure and add the required scenarios for your SAP system to your project structure with the Business Blueprint transaction SOLAR01,
    4. Add your SAP system configuration structures to your project structure with the configuration transaction SOLAR02.
    3. Go to the project structure folder <project name> using transaction SOLAR02.
    4. Access configuration documentation for SAP NetWeaver usage types at Configuration StructureSAP NetWeaver 7.0.
    5. Access configuration documentation for all areas of SAP SRM at Configuration StructureSAP SRM <release>.

  • Lenovo Energy Management - Where is my Dust Removal button?

Hello. After installation my Windows 8.1 which i downloaded from Microsoft DreamSpark i installed all drivers from a CD which came with my laptop in a box.
I installed Lenovo Energy Management and I had button to remove dust. After updating my system via WindowsUpdate this button dissapeared. It's gone.
My laptop is Lenovo G500s (without touchable screen).
Anyone had same problem like me?
I want to emphasize that after fresh installation of Win 8.1 without any uptates (Windows 8.1 Pro - Build 9600) i had that "remove dust" button.
Sorry for my bad english spelling but I'm from europe. Hope you forgive me.

    hi lyczewskiand,

  • File Manager-Where is it on the Turbo???

Do not have the file manager in the apps on this turbo?  Just purchased the phone yesterday.

  • Vcast Media Manager -- where is support for 64-bit windows computers??

I purchased a Droid 2 in October, when I plug it into my computer it brings up Verizon Vcast Media Manager page to download that program (which is good because I want to get my music onto my phone from my desktop computer).  But only after download attempt does it tell me that said program will only support a 32-bit operating system.  Well, I, my wife, and a lot of other people have a 64-bit operating system.  Is Verizon really that far behind the times?  Seriously has no one noticed this, a 32-bit machine is outdated these days.  Why can i not hook my Droid up to my puter, I thought this was smartphone technology...  Maybe the phone is smarter than Verizons Programmers??   To VZW, please correct me if I am wrong, or fix the problem if I am correct.

Currently there is no 64bit version available at this time, and no ETA to when one will be available. I would recommend as an alternative using the Droid 2 as a mass storage drive to transfer music. I have included the instruction in an article below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=34780
If it still does not recognize it as a device, try putting it in USB debugging mode. Instruction article given below:
    http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=31366
***As long as a memory card is present in the device, it will show up as a drive on your personal computer. Once it shows up as a drive, you can drag and drop music and media files on the Droid 2.

  • Color Management-Where is my error?

30" Apple Cinema Display recently calibrated with Eye-One Display 2. Photoshop CS3 color space is North America General Purpose 2. I open Digital Color Meter, take a color (#5e90ba) from a web page in Safari. I make a new Photoshop document, fill it with aforesaid color, save it and set it as my desktop. Digital Color Meter says my Desktop is displaying #5e8cb7, not #5e90ba, and visually, there is a very slight difference between the color on the web page & my desktop. I just can't wrap my mind around this. What is going on here?

I think it's the OS as Ann has stated. If I take an image, for example, and save converting the image from working Adobe RGB profile to sRGB while embedding the icc profile and use a web browser like Safari, the image will look exactly like it does in Photoshop. But that is because I assigned the profile to go with the sRGB image. But when I put the image as a wallpaper on the desktop, the image is all of a sudden less saturated. I can instantly see the colors shifted or toned down a tad. Now, add to that I do not think the monitor, no matter how well I have tried to calibrate using Monaco XR Pro with Color Eyes software - I cannot say the gamma available with my Apple Cinema Display of 23" is accurate even at this point. But the fact that the image will match in PS and Safari but not the desk top shows that yes, the desktop does not see the profile along with the image.
Have you tried to go to Photoshop and under Edit menu, use Monitor Space as your color space and see if that now matches the desktop? They should now match. Meaning there will always be a difference between the two even locally on one machine.
The fact that it wasn't a JPG doesn't mean anything. It is only the way the color (an arbitrary number in this case) is displayed to your eyes on the monitor. Again, your monitor space will not match your working space unless you change the two spaces to match in PS or what ever app you are using with color management because you created a working space using calibration.
The working space is created by the hardware/software calibrating tools as you know. And for me, coming from the PC side recently to the Mac side, I can say that Color Eyes makes more corrections to an Apple Cinema Display than any monitor of any price I used on the PC side. Granted, once calibrated, it looks incredible. The Macbook Pro laptop is the biggest disappointment due to the fact that it is not true 32 or 24 bit but some say really bad, like 6 bit.
Anyway, I think Ann has stated what you need to grasp and to show the extent of it, just go to PS and change your Color Profile to Monitor Space instead of a working space and see what happens.

  • Download help manager: where can I download PDF Help docs for CS6?

    Good morning folk,
hopefully you can help me with my trouble with the help-manager of the CS6. I´d like to download the documentations for Illustrator and Photoshop as local files but the status menue tells me that those files are not available. I also cant activate the "actualize" button, it appears grey. This also happens when I try to use the option for manually actualizing the files.
It might sound a bit short eyed , but I cant find foreign language versions of the pdf-version of the handbooks when I search for them manually. Are they only available in English?

Help documents for Creative Suite CS5, CS5.1, CS5.5, and CS6 applications (PDF and HTML)

  • Notion List Manager - where to find

I have owned a Newton MP110 since it first came out, and bought Notion 1.0 for it. I have decided to upgrade to a 2100 -- can't find anything as good in the current market -- and want to have Notion on it, too. Naturally I can't find the 3.5" diskette it came on (that's why I needed the Newton in the first place). Is Notion available somewhere? Can someone recommend an equally good list manager that is available?
Also, is there an active mailing list?
iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Also use FreeBSD

I think you can just beam the package over from the 110 to the 2k. I've transfered apps that way before without problems. There may be a couple package files, like and extension, that need to go too.
Not sure how active anymore, but try here: http://newtontalk.net/

  • How do I manage where the tab-bar is displayed in Firefox 29?

The config setting (browser.tabs.onTop set to false in about:config) is not working in Firefox 29 -- Please have the Developer Team fix this.
By not correcting this, the "new" Firefox has eliminated useful features, notably, the ability to place the tab bar at the bottom of the Header Area.

Thank you... That Add-On works (for anyone else reading this, after installing the Add-On, you MUST go to the Add-Ons page, and EDIT the OPTIONS for this Add-On.)
Too bad the FF Developers didn't figure this out; now we have to install yet another Add-On...

I've searched "GUI RPC bind to port 31416 failed: 98" and I've found an old ArchLinux BOINC bug report supposedly solved (https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/18194) in which the reporter says that "is necessary add port 31416 to /etc/rpc otherwise receive error: [error] GUI RPC bind to port 31416 failed: 98" But related to this happens 2 things:
1st: I don't know in which format do I have to modify the /etc/rpc file in order to add the 31416 port. I'm sorry for my ignorance.
2nd: I don't think that any user who installs BOINC had to modify manually any system configuration file, so it must be a BOINC or Archlinux BOINC package bug; or an installation process error. Otherwise it would appear in the wiki. The gui should conect with the client without configuring anything (I already think that configuring what the wiki says is too much for a package installation. Installed packages should work out of the box after its installation).
So, what can I do in order to get BOINC + BOINC Manager work together?

Thank you for your help Nattgew.
Boinc is already running in the background as a service. There is no need to run "boinc" on the command line. The error you see is because it is trying to start Boinc again from the command line, but the service is already running and has claimed the port 31416.
I know, it was in order to give all the possible feedback.
I'm not sure why boincmgr won't connect... could you be more specific about what happens when you run it?
No, I can't be more specific than I've already been above. I've described all that I see that happens.
Other than that, the wiki tells you where to look at the log file (make sure there are no errors there) and explains the password for connecting (sounds like you already took care of that, but good to double check).
As you can see I've searched all the errors I got in the boinc wiki. I know what they mean, but not why are happening.
I think my problems come from a bad management of the files permissions by the package installation. I mean, when a package is installed there should be an script or something that modifies (or create the files with) the permissions that files must have, or create the groups that need to be created, and so on. But it looks like I have to modify all this data in order to get boincmngr connect to boinc, boinc and boincmngr get the writting permissions in the installation folder too, etc etc etc. I don't know very well how to do all this stuff (I mean that I've already created by hand the boinc group, changed the execution, access, modification of files with users and boinc groups credentials, and I still get silly errors as "boinc can't write" in a folder which is the owner, or can't write executed by the root. All this stuff messed me up because looks too much stupid), but more important, I shouldn't to do it manually after a package installation.
I should open a bug report in arhlinux first and if they can't solve the problem open it in the boinc support, I suppose.
